Great tool to help diagnose network issues

I was able to effectively diagnose several connectivity issues and manage our network resources so that VOIP was not affected by other traffic.

PROS

I've been using PingPlotter Pro to help diagnose packet loss on our network which affects our VOIP calls. PingPlotter has been great allowing us to constantly monitor connectivity. I like that I can turn it on in the morning and go back to view a day's worth of performance, zoom in on certain time periods and add comments in real time to note what activity was occurring at that time. The knowledge base is also great to understand how the tool works and what issues to look for.

CONS

I wish there was a functionality to monitor not just pings, but also constant bandwidth useage. I also wish there were a way to assign device names on the network discovery tab.

Needed to use the free trial but wasn't quite long enough

PROS

Ease of use. Just type in the address you want to ping and hit enter.

CONS

I wish that I could rename the pings instead of just showing the IP address for testing VPN purposes. Being able to label the ping by the location name would be awesome.

Using PingPlotter since freeware - 1998

I started to use it working for mainframe manufacturer when maintaining global intranet, started to use ping plotter to monitor the accessibility of the intranet nodes and their response time. Now, I use it to monitor my ISP performance.

PROS

Ease of use, path changes detection, just what you want to check on your ISP. One of the easiest programs to use for this purpose. Results saving/exporting is a big plus.

CONS

I would jump on the Android version, if available.

Amazing Product! Everything I needed

Overall, I enjoyed my experience and I know you will to. I only needed it for personal reasons in tracking packet loss and if you need something like this it's worth trying the 2 week free trial. Everything is very straight forward and someone whose a bit computer illiterate like me can still use the software well.

PROS

Able to track multiple addresses across different timelines Easy to read and easy to navigate I did not understand anything about tracking packet loss and the program itself along with PingPlotters guides on their website helped me succeed in escalating packet loss issues to my internet service provider.

CONS

There's nothing that I didn't like about the software. Definitely recommend it on all accords.

An excellent network problem resolver with the ease of use.

PROS

I have been using PingPlotter for analyzing network issues. It lets the user recognize the sources of pocket losses and provides us best solutions to get rid of that problem. One of the most interesting thing it is supportive for tracing internet problems & using as proof to ISP. Very easy to use, works perfectly and It lets us install it on several devices.

CONS

Having a great experience with this software. I could not find any complaint. It is a powerful troubleshooting & monitoring featured software. It is very easy to use its all functions.

Powerful tool for detecting all sorts of network issues.

PROS

PingPlotter Network software is an awesome software that is used in a best way for visualizing network performance in order to know about the different sources of problems. One can have clear and accurate graphical information through this software. This software reduces the time of trouble shooting.

CONS

Truly speaking I do not have issues related to PingPlotter software. One of the limitation is that it's licensing approach is not good enough. I only want to give suggestion that is,it should have option to send reports via mail.

Best End-to-End View of Network Latency

PingPlotter has provided great insights into the performance of my network. With a combination of routers, switches, wireless access points, and application servers located in five physically separate locations, PingPlotter has helped me understand performance and isolate problems in each segment of the end-to-end network. No more questioning whether the problem is related to the transport network or my internet connection or an overloaded server. On one screen, I can now see a break-down of latency and jitter, as well as their cumulative effects on application performance and user experience. On that same screen, I can see outliers and anomalies at-a-glance. And because PingPlotter offers a very efficient way to gather a large number of samples, it eliminates laborious manual testing and produces more reliable diagnostic outcomes.

PROS

PingPlotter Professional makes it extremely easy to test, observe, and track performance for a large number of network elements and servers. The ability to define and store customized testing profiles together with the ability to import plain text lists of targets (IP addresses and common names) makes it simple to automate otherwise tedious network monitoring tasks.

CONS

Editing capabilities within the GUI are limited, which drives me (occasionally) to stop ping testing, make edits externally, reimport target list files, and resume ping testing. It would be handy to have a text editor available within the GUI, wth the ability to apply changes on-the-fly.

PingPlotter helps find ISP Packet Loss issues

I've found the solution easy to use and very helpful in showing status to my ISP and others. The online help has been useful as I investigate my observations, etc.

PROS

PingPlotter continually monitors and is easy to see when issues arise. I'm watching for packet loss with my ISP. Very helpful to see the total history of events!

CONS

I love the software, but wish it were more affordable for my size implementation (home office). The trial version is great and I would love to keep it always, even after I have resolved (hopefully) my current network troubleshooting. It makes sense to have now... I would love to pay something like a $30 cost vs. monthly fee. It is just me at the home office.

Reason for choosing PingPlotter

It worked the first time I used it, so I'm very happy so far. I'm not looking to try another solution at this time unless price for my small/home business makes it less affordable.

PingPlotter to the Rescue!

I was getting absolutely no where fast with Spectrum until I installed PingPlotter and began tracing routes, times, and packet loss. Armed with those data points, I was able to force Spectrum to admit that there was an issue with their network, and they have taken steps to fix them. Speeds are up, reliability is up, and problems are down.

PROS

PingPlotter gives me the ammunition I need to force my ISP into action when their system reports everything is fine with my service. Being able to speak with support engineers (two steps above the front-line CSRs who answer the phone) and share with them specific issues is a god sent gift.

CONS

To access much of the functionality of the product you need a paid version. But with diligence and liberal use of the Snip function, you can get by.

Very Happy with Ping Plotter

PROS

Ping Plotter is extremely easy to use and understand. I am a novice with network issues and in the past have always relied on my internet provider to diagnose any issues with my network. With Ping Plotter i was able to provide my network provider the information that shown where the issue was and allow them to fix the issues at the source.

CONS

I was looking for something that was powerful and free, but found that Ping Plotter was the best, but is not free.

I used PingPlotter to diagnose the network problems I have been having with Spectrum/TWC

I was able to document the local node problems and the internet problems that I have been having with Spectrum/TWC. I had severe packet loss which they fixed on the local node and other problems which I traced to their headend node. Still resolving their inability to deliver the 100Mbps to my home office.

PROS

This package is exceptional for documenting packet loss/ping times and tracking down where the problems are with a large network such as Spectrum. It is easy to get up and running.

CONS

The learning curve to utilize its full power and documentation of where problems are is a bit long but keep in mind that solving multiple nodes and local node problems is a challenge. I have held a Commercial FCC GROL license for 40 years and worked with networking problems much of that time. I found that PingPlotter is an exceptional tool and quite intuitive to use.

Amazing tool for convincing your IP to fix their equipment!

Very positive experience overall. Nice to absolutely know what is going on with networking issues rather than guess what might be causing a problem. Graphic representation is so much easier than plotting using a typical trace route program.

PROS

Program was very easy to set up and run. Great for seeing how many hops are between you and your destination as well as what may be causing issues. Graph was very revealing and my provider could not deny that there was a latency issue which returned daily at the same time every day and then went away at night. Armed with that information, it not only helped me to convince them to replace their router but improved their overall network performance as well.

CONS

Documentation could use some improvement, but figuring out how to use it by playing with it was fairly intuitive. Screen capture of the graph didn't work real well and was kind of clunky as well as difficult to see, but taking a photo with my phone camera worked well and was easy to send to my IP by text.

Friendly and Quick Monitoring Link Tool - PingPlotter

I found ease of use, pleasant and friendly interface and performance using Pingplotter and I was pleased. Recommend.

PROS

I was looking for a practical and quick tool for monitoring our existing IPSec links with our client that support a large number of employees, accessing different work environments, requiring a quick action in case of failure or fall of links.

CONS

I believe that a way to automatically capture the links to be monitored through the hosts file could be an important improvement in the software.

Helpful to diagnose speed

I signed up for high speed internet. I was supposed to get 300 Mbps but was only getting 85 to 100. Every time the internet company ran their diagnoses they said that everything was fine from their end. I had our company tech support person spend over 3 hours on the phone with the provider but they were unable to solve the problem. They finally suggested Ping Plotter so they could do an analysis. I ran Ping Plotter for over 48 hours and then sent them the link and they could see exactly where the slow down happened. I have to run it a second time now with a direct connection instead of through the wireless router to insure that the brand new router is not the probelm.

PROS

Ping Plotter helped the internet provider diagnose what was wrong with my speed.

CONS

The cost is prohibitive for a one time diagnosis.
