Patch Manager Plus Review
Really good. It was very easy to get started and anytime I needed support assistance, they are available via chat in a matter of seconds.
PROSTo me what makes this product so great is it does NOT utilize the built in Windows Update service that has been giving us trouble for so long. ME uses their own agent / service. This has made the patching process a lot smoother during our trial. The management console is also super user friendly and very easy to navigate.
CONSit made our patch scheduling for production servers a bit difficult because there is no option to manually click install when ready to start installation. instead we are relying on detailed auto install policies which work for us but this is the biggest limitation I have see thus far.
Reason for choosing ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus
Automox relied on the built in Windows Update service causing many issues from the beginning. Kaseya utilized their own agent like Patch Manager Plus but: 1) they were a lot more expensive 2) the console was not user friendly and was filled with tons of features that we did not have access to.
Reasons for switching to ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus
SW was an extremely manual process and we were looking for something more automated. Also, having a cloud solution makes patching off network devices such as laptops a lot easier.

Patch Manager 3 Year Use Reveiw
The product is functional and is a good replacement for a standard WSUS implementation. However some issues mean this product makes assesing the actual state of your endpoints difficult.
PROSThe product is affordable and the dashboard when logging in gives a good overview.
CONSMachines with the agent installed and functioning would lose connection to the console, troubleshooting on the workstation showed no issue and the only way to resolve was to re-install. This meant we couldn't trust the reporting from the product 100%
Reason for choosing ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus
Cost, It's cheap.
Reasons for switching to ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus
WSUS was a disjointed and inaccurate deployment within our organisation.

Best patch management solution
Ease of deployment to all servers are workstations through manual deployments and auto-deployment rules. Third-party application deployment is a plus and the scanning regularly includes all the assets.
CONSThere are some limitations for Java updates as we need to upload the patches manually. Another issue is with some agent uninstallation from the clients. Some agents are stubborn and do not uninstall easily.
Reason for choosing ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus
Ease of deployment to all servers and clients, Bulk deployment is easy from Patch Manager whereas other alternatives are complicated.

Patch Manager Plus Makes My Job Easier
The ability to schedule custom jobs for workstations versus servers greatly helps. The custom jobs including being able to use wake-on-lan to update the machines after business hours. We are a small IT staff and I handle all of the infrastructure related tasks including updates. This has greatly reduced the time I spend each week getting updates/patches deployed. After using it for a while there is very little effort needed in getting deployments scheduled.
PROSThe ability to download and deploy patches with ease for both Windows and OSX.
CONSIt took a little getting used to but that is probably my fault for not reading and going through the demo.
Reason for choosing ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus
It met our requirements for Windows, OSX, and WOL. It was also very reasonable priced especially for a nonprofit organization.
Reasons for switching to ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus
Needed more of a scheduled deployment outside of group policy and a way to update OSX.

Better and more affordable than most of the competition, and much better than my PSA/RMM's patching
Patch Manager Plus is a mature and stable platform for patching. Their 3rd party patching catalog is extensive and as a whole, the product just works. Definitely dive into comparing them with *any* other stand-alone patching tool and their price/performance easily wins out. Coupled with their rapid support, nothing else fit our need as well.
CONSThere are some convoluted settings and schedules that could use clarification as well as an entire UI/UX refresh. There's nothing "bad" about it, but it does get in the way of the product's great core functionality.
Reason for choosing ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus
Patch Manager Plus provides a vastly different UI/UX experience as Automox, but in the end it performed the duties of patching platform as well or better than any I've used or tested.
Reasons for switching to ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus
The patching "tools" in my combined RMM/PSA are just not as robust as they need to be to ensure proper patching and definitely not as robust as Patch Manager Plus. Especially with driver and bios support

1 month evaluation
Very easy to setup and start deploying the agents. Great to have the option to test and approve patches or just automatically approve. Easy to see available and missing patches and the health of the systems.
CONSA bit of a problem with the Mac agent deployment at a large scale, we had to come up with our own script for it, it clearly shows Macs are not the focus. Some views have a delay in refreshing so you sometimes end up seeing a computer with Patch Completed status but with Patches Missing in a different tab, only to go to the systems tab and see that it says 0 for the number of the missing patches.
Reason for choosing ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus
We needed a tool that allows us to deploy third-party patches and MacOS updates because our existing MDM and RMM tools fail to do that properly. This tool gives us IT control and user convenience over when to restart and install the patches.

Very effective patch management
Overall I would highly recommend the product for patch management, which can be used in both domain and workgroup environments. It offers good value for money, for the amount of time saved.
PROSWe used the cloud hosted product, it was very easy to set up and deploy to all of our endpoints. The software makes it easy to identify machines which are missing critical patches, so that you can focus on fixing the high priority cases. Using a distribution server means that you can save on bandwidth, which is a useful benefit in some use-cases. Patch scheduling and behaviour is customisable, e.g. auto reboot can be enabled/disabled.
CONSTechnical support has been a poor experience for us, it can take a lot of time to resolve issues, or to ensure they look at your problem in more detail. The interface is a little bit slow/clunky, it could be more intuitive. The failure reasons for deployment tasks can be unclear, or if an agent isn't behaving as expected it can be tricky to pinpoint the issue.

Don't Delay, Use Patch Manager Plus
While we are an SCCM shop, the use of Patch Manager Plus is amazing. It is easy to use from reporting to pushing patches, querying workstations, and setting up automated deployment rules. This tool has helped us "set it and forgot it" as it just runs (at least for the workstations that can be managed that way). ManageEngine is always looking to better their products and that is what I like about them.
CONSI feel the on-premises Patch Manager Plus environment runs a little slow from a web server and SQL connection. While both servers have plenty of power, just seems the software should respond quicker. This is why we are moving to Patch Manager Plus in the cloud as it is super fast.

Patch Manger Plus
The deployment method is great. I really like the fact that it does a inventory scan via agent to show what patches are installed and missing. The granular way of targeting a host or group via custom group and AD groups make patching easier to deal with. WOL, remote reboot, and shutdown is nice to have. Agent deployment comes with several choices from manual, GPO, to pushing out from console.
CONSI think the reporting could be better. I would be good to see better logs/error message when things fail to install whether it an agent or patch deployment.
Reason for choosing ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus
The cost was really something that made us choose this over the other products. It does patching well without having to purchase a slew of other feature such as endpoint management or software deployment solution. ME products are very modular.
Reasons for switching to ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus
WSUS was slow, can't custom deployment easily and little reporting.

The Ultimate Multi-OS Patch Management Solution
Because of its amazing value, we can add it to our current suite of solutions without having to divert a sizable portion of our cash from other cybersecurity projects. Using this tool, I can deploy changes without worrying. The dashboard is simple and simply displays pertinent information. Everything has always been top-notch, including the user interface and assistance.
PROSManage Engines Patch Manager Plus is an automated multi-OS patch management system that can be deployed on-premises or in the cloud according on our requirements. It's convenient to get a fast overview of each endpoint's patch installation process. I could also display a limited set of results by using a filter.
CONSToo many fresh builds were made available in too short a time. It takes too long, and you also have to update the linked endpoints. Users who work remotely may wait to get updates until they are in person at the workplace. Learning the vast feature set could take some time.

Patch Deployment solutions that just works
Overall it seems that this is absolutely a winner and we will most likely pull the trigger and purchase it.
PROSWe liked how easy it was to setup the POC, install the agents and deploy first patch. It was done in a matter of minutes. The console is well laid out and has a lot of reminders of frequently used features or questions. We also liked that it does not rely on the monolithic Windows Updates subsystem which of course is the whole culprit for most IT professionals looking somewhere else to address this issue. Having the ability to patch 3rd party software automatically is also another plus.
CONSAs easy as it looks to get up and running it could also be easy to get lost among the 10s of features it has. Take the time to read through the documentation as it will have detailed instructions on how to configure most tasks according to your needs. For us having yet another agent to deploy would be another con, but then again most software now days have one and this one seems to be very lightweight.
