A Powerful Blank Slate, Both Good and Bad

As a manager, Wrike has been a struggle worth having. While my comfort level was to use a simpler yet more open tool like Trello, the complexity and number of our marketing campaigns/projects/events led me toward a more full-featured solution. Roll-out took a full year due to the busyness of our team, and after that first year, we scrapped everything based on what we learned and started fresh with a different taxonomy. Ultimately it's a boon for me as a manager to know that the entirety of my department's efforts are captured and managed in a single place, but it's a heavy lift for the team. The Wrike team was helpful with onboarding but didn't offer much direction; they probably would have been more helpful if we had pre-established workflows. Without a history of project management beyond a clunky spreadsheet, we were looking to Wrike to provide more robust templates and guidance in this area.

PROS

Wrike excels at what it sets out to do: manage projects. It is flexible, powerful, and full-featured enough to adapt to virtually any use case, keeping teams on the same page and on-task. The UI is fresh and modern, and the software is iterated weekly with even tiny considerations that make life easier.

CONS

Wrike is a blank slate, so determining how your busy team will leverage the tool takes a ton of effort. Its interface, while pretty, is as complex as it needs to be to conform to a bevy of use cases. The learning curve for a team is steep, and because it takes months to see benefits, adoption is an exercise in discipline. For some members of the team who struggle with the complexity, managing the tool is a burden and Wrike remains more of an obstacle than a benefit. We've also had no luck getting real-time browser notifications to work; the team either relies on far too many Wrike-generated emails or just living in the tool itself to stay up-to-date.

Reason for choosing Wrike

My team evaluated Asana and Airtable and recommended Wrike to me. A long-time Trello fan and user, I didn't want my bias to get in the way, and I knew that Trello was likely underpowered for the variety of uses were were going to lean on the product for.

Reasons for switching to Wrike

Our company is a heavy user of Office 365. While Planner and To-Do work very well and fit seamlessly into our environment, Planner is unfortunately underbaked. It is a fraction as useful as even Trello.

It's essential for productivity and great for project collaboration

It helps me to remain organized and productive. It is my go-to software when I need to keep my ideas organized when I feel like I need to get the most out of them.

PROS

Wrike provides one of the best solutions for project management, task prioritization, dependencies, customizable workflows, and collaboration. As a user, these features matter most to me as they're essential for increasing productivity rates. I like it because I can collaborate on a project with two or more members in a real-time, easily communicate with them, and share files as well as updates. It provides possibilities for me to assign priorities to tasks, making sure that we're all focusing on what is most important and I also get to define dependencies between these tasks; ensuring that the progress of one affects the scheduling of the other. It allows to customize workflows to match the project management process. Users get to do things like automation, accurate time tracking, real-time updates, and collaborate on various ideas.

CONS

I have noticed that Wrikes requires manual input from the team which I find to be time-consuming, and stressful and could potentially prone members to errors. It could be great if this was done automatically like a sort of data extraction or something like that - that way the user won't have to manually do all the work and even if the user could still need to manually input data, the platform should consider providing built-in technologies that will help to eliminate potential errors during typing. - It also lacks some advanced tracking functionalities and I often use Jira as a means to compensate for it.

Reasons for switching to Wrike

I switched from using both Asana and Trello for several reasons like pricing, functionalities and others.

Wrike - A greate alternative to Microsoft Planner, just not Microsoft Teams

Task and Project Management is great on Wrike, however, communication is bare bones. The issue we had was that we used Wrike, but still had to use Teams for communication and collaboration. If Wrike were to be enhanced with screen sharing, messaging, and video conference even only on paid tiers, it make a better case for us that would rather collaborate and plan in one software package.

PROS

The UI/UX was superb. The font and graphics were easy on the eyes. Planning tasks and adding task was very easy once past the learning curve.

CONS

I don't like that the Gantt chart was behind a subscription paywall. The only reason I subscribed was for the Gantt chart, which was very useful.

Reason for choosing Wrike

Microsoft Project while robust was too much software for a small team with too much setup. It does have the necessary reporting however, Wrike was more approachable and usable for our use case.

Reasons for switching to Wrike

Most importantly, it was for the Gantt chart to easily visualize our projects, other large efforts, and daily tasks. Microsoft Project does have Gantt charts but can be unwieldy for smaller teams.

Wrike is one of the best project management platforms, I love it and I recommend it.

Everyone on the team has benefited greatly from its use as a tool for allocating, ranking, and organizing work. Before we started using Wirke, our team had to rely on Excel spreadsheets, which was a time-consuming and convoluted process.

PROS

It's a fantastic resource for organizing and coordinating the efforts of a group or an individual. It's easy to use and manage both day-to-day operations and larger projects with its straightforward graphical user interface. Tasks can be assigned to individuals and given a due date, start time, and description. It lets you track anything from active to finished to cancelled jobs with ease.

CONS

When I update a task's status, I don't always know if it was updated to the right status, which is the one issue I have with Wrike. Sometimes when I am dragging a task to change its state, I accidentally leave it in the needed status and then I can't see it.

Reasons for switching to Wrike

because i can organize my projects, reviews, and campaigns with ease using Wrike. Monitoring development, identifying waste, and making massive improvements to projects.

A great platform to manage projects easily

My content writing staff can now select and submit tasks from a single location thanks to Wrike. The platform is user-friendly, allowing team members to quickly and easily sign up and participate from any location.

PROS

We utilize Wrike, a straightforward and efficient tool for team communication, task sharing, and getting to information or resources we need for our projects. Members can view the activity of others and provide feedback. Workplace updates and task monitoring can be accessed remotely.

CONS

The chat support staff may not be very pleasant, but they are quite knowledgeable. There is a lack of clarity in the onboarding process, and users are not offered helpful resources like tutorials or training videos via email.

Reasons for switching to Wrike

This was my first experience using a collaborative platform beyond Asana alone. The videos they provided to help new users get started were really useful.

Task management and assignment are solved with Wrike

Our company's problems with managing and assigning tasks have been solved by Wrike. Knowing what comes next in the processes we're involved in is a big assistance.

PROS

Using Wrike, it's simple to keep tabs on individual tasks, designate which team members should handle them, and keep everyone in the loop as the work progresses. We need to maintain close tabs on the feature that allocates resources.

CONS

While it's great that there are various perspectives from which to examine a project, it can be infuriating that each perspective has its own set of details to examine. I'd like there to be a way to filter what's shown in a view so that only the data you care about is displayed.

Reasons for switching to Wrike

Organization of tasks and those responsible for them. It's a great tool for managing projects and ensuring that the correct people are working on the proper tasks.

It allows us to easily manage our projects

Keeping tabs on the progress being made and the amount of work being done by each team member through the use of dashboards. Support staff is ready and willing to assist customers. The software industry is dynamic, and user feedback appears to be a driving force in this change.

PROS

It's adaptable to the needs of each team, which is a feature I really appreciate. Wrike has a wide variety of features and functions, yet it is also quite simple to use.

CONS

After seeing all of the great videos and doing the activities, our consultant didn't seem to know much more than we did about onboarding and implementation, thus we ran into some problems.

Reasons for switching to Wrike

There are now too many tools needed to monitor our projects, tasks, and specialized financial projections. Whilst we are able to track our duties on a weekly basis, we are unable to track our monthly tasks.

Wrike- workflow automation

I've used Wrike for some time to manage various events and marketing projects, with the added bonus of its well-designed dashboard feature. These dashboards provide a consoldated view of my work and that of my colleagues, helping us stay organized and on top of our tasks.

PROS

Wrike is a tool that can be very practical for managing both individual and team tasks. In my experience, its graphical interface is easy to use and simplifies the daily management of tasks and projects, making it easy to assign tasks, add descriptions, and set start and end dates. I like its task trackng feature, which allows me to monitor tasks in progress, pending, completed, and even canceled.

CONS

Adjusting to Wrike's way of doing things can be a challenge for beginners. Additionally, there are occasional issues with server speed.

Provides a central platform for a remote team to pick and submit projects

Wrike is a simple and effective platform that we use to communicate, share tasks, and access instructions or links needed for our projects. Each member is able to see what others do and leave a comment. You don't have to be at the workplace to see what is happening or keep track of projects. However, the chat support does not seem friendly. It is like they want to answer you instantly and leave or maybe serve other customers.

PROS

Wrike provides a central location for my content writing team to pick and submit jobs. It has an intuitive design and it is easy for the team members to sign up and join the platform from any location. Wrike Allows real-time sharing of important files, project instructions, and helpful links/urls. You can use @mention feature to tag the relevant team member to ensure they don't miss anything.

CONS

The chat support team does not seem very friendly but they provide useful information. The onboarding process is not straightforward and they don't provide emails with relevant information or share links to tutorials or training material to enhance the user experience. So you have to figure out how everything works on your own within the few trial days.

We get so much more done since we began using Wrike.

Wrike is a great program. Not only has it helped our various departments manage their projects better, but has given us cross-team visibility we have never had before. That was a huge benefit that we weren't expecting.

PROS

Wrike is EXTREMELY powerful. The learning curve is very manageable and very quickly your teams can be using the tool and improving their efficiency. It has made a TREMENDOUS difference in our productivity. Our teams adopted the program with very little trouble and now it is our main workflow system.I am not sure how we did business before we got Wrike.

CONS

There is very little we don't like about Wrike. It is a great program. We have always figured out a way to make it do what we need it to for managing our business.

Reason for choosing Wrike

Wrike was a better fit across the whole organization. Monday.com was a good fit for marketing, but didn't work as well for product development, tech and other departments in the company.

Reasons for switching to Wrike

Team Gantt can't hold a candle to Wrike. It is harder to use, has a MUCH bigger learning curve, we struggled to get team adoption with Team Gantt, it didn't work well across multiple departments. Wrike is just a much better system.

Wrike is Great for Project-Based Work

Wrike's flowchart displays all activities and includes a comment and recommendation section for each task, making it an excellent communication tool. Wrike makes my job easier, and I love using it since I can customize the interface to my liking. It may be accessed from any web browser, on desktop computers running macOS or Windows, and on mobile devices running Android or iOS.

PROS

Wrike has been an indispensable tool for us for a wide range of purposes over the course of several years. As an example of Wrike's usefulness, we were able to move our Change Request process from paper-based Excel spreadsheets to automated, digitally-driven Wrike task lists, complete with reporting. A centralized location was created so everyone could see what updates were open and past due.

CONS

Some sorts of views might be awkward to alter in some situations. Dates and times may be a pain to establish and modify. Not quick enough for everyday usage across all projects and takes time to manage the to-do list.

Reasons for switching to Wrike

Wrike is an excellent tool for managing interrelated tasks. If you need to keep projects on track, Wrike is a helpful program that allows you to assign tasks to specific people and send them email reminders. Wrike's ticketing system and statistics make it easy to divide up work and keep tabs on how things are coming along.

Wrike is one of the best project management tools

The reporting and dashboard functions are my favorites in Wrike. Team members can now more efficiently divide up work, check in on how things are going, work together in person or from afar, view tasks in a variety of formats (such as spreadsheets and lists), and use adaptable project templates.

PROS

Wrike is a software program that helps businesses manage their daily operations. Wrike can be used to keep track of anything from daily tasks to large-scale initiatives. Wrike's forms guarantee that all the preliminary data for a project is gathered (and organized) in advance.

CONS

Wrike's lack of native integration with other systems is its only real flaw. There is better integration potential between your tech stack and other project management software. However, Wrike's in-built features eliminate the need to install additional programs in many scenarios.

Reasons for switching to Wrike

Wrike is a task management and scheduling app that I use to get more done in less time. I don't have to worry about losing work because of accidental duplication thanks to the Tag Folders function. It has helped me immensely in terms of maintaining order.

Wrike for small businesses

PROS

It's flexible and there are multiple ways to look at projects/task depending on how users like to see things. For example as a list, Gantt chart, table or Boards which is really handy as we have designers and programmers who work very differently. The decision to go with Wrike was also skewed by the ability to have external collaborators join the team. The ability to add custom fields makes it easy to add information required. Different views enable tasks to be seen by project, person, folder etc. Being able to track time on each task is also really useful and easy for everyone. New features are being rolled out frequently and Wrike is fast catching up on the areas I thought were lacking initially.

CONS

The flexibility and customisation makes it a bit confusing to start with, and I also found that the initial set up we had was not optimal. This was the first time we used a Project Management system to this extent, so this may be more of a user error issue. The "CRM" workaround I don't think is worth the trouble. The pricing model is the one that I think lets Wrike down the most. I understand the reason for a minimum of 5 seats, but every increment after this is in 5 seats as well. For a small business, this is a real issue in my view. This is also the case for additional features, many of which are only used by Admin, but are invoiced for each seat.

Wrike has been a game-changer in terms of ease-of-use functionality and agility!

Overall, the experience has been very pleasing for our small marketing team. Wrike continuously listens to customer feedback and releases updates the make the tool better with each new version.

PROS

The ease-of use, agile nature of the tool makes this project 10 times better than the rigid project management tool we were using before. The software is not overly complex or complicated to navigate/learn, which has made the transition from our old tool to Wrike an absolute breeze!

CONS

The local/downloadable application responsiveness can be rather sluggish at times and slow. For this reason, some time can be lost waiting for the server to catch up with the local application.

Reason for choosing Wrike

Wrike had a very similar platform/interface and similar functionality as the internal tool we were using beforehand. This made for a very smooth transition from one tool to another regarding training and usage.

Reasons for switching to Wrike

Certain members of our team went from retained employees of our customer to free agents, so we needed to adopt our own project management tool, since we no longer had access permissions for the proprietary, internal tool we were using.

Project Management in Higher Ed

It started off with solving a simple problem: how to intake marketing requests that does not rely on keeping track of emails. Wrike fit the bill with the added bonus of online proofing with the very strict "approved" or "changes requested". Before, we would get emails saying "This is great!" and we would send to print thinking that was an approval when it wasn't. Being able to drop points on the artwork has also simplified our workflow as we don't have as many follow up questions for the requestor. That is just the start, there is so much more value Wrike has brought to our marketing team that I would need more time to go through them all. Over the last 5 years of using Wrike, it has always gotten better especially with special care for the requests provided and upvoted by its customers. We are very happy with Wrike.

PROS

The request form system. As a district of three community colleges, the district administrative center is the hub that provides customer service to the colleges. With request forms, we are able to get them to the appropriate person.

CONS

Calendars needs a refresh. It would be nice if we could add tasks directly to it in the smart calendar option (I know it still exists in classic but that is too much manual work).

Reason for choosing Wrike

At the time, Wrike was the only one with a request form intake system.

Great Project Management System

Overall my experience with Wrike has been fantastic. I've used it for many years and it has been a great system.

PROS

I have used Wrike for years and highly recommend it to others all the time. The key to finding a good PM System is finding one that works like you work and Wrike offers so many ways to lay it out (boards, to do lists, by project, etc.). It is very easy to use and if you set up due dates you know what will be coming due and it will show on your to do list as well. I also love that I can add up to 5 team members + collaborators on the free version.

CONS

The only 'con' I have is that it would be nicer to have clarity on what Wrike considers 'projects' vs. 'folders'.

Reason for choosing Wrike

Wrike has so many ways to view it that it can work for almost anyone. When using it with my team it was important that they could lay out theirs in a way that made sense to them as well.

Reasons for switching to Wrike

I didn't feel like it matched the way I worked.
