Important tool to track Loads.

Easy and friendly tool. Important on our daily duties. Can keep track of loads and drivers can communicate if they arrive or depart from destination.

PROS

Can send tracking link to drivers cell and download it. Can have the full picture whenever there is a driver on a rest or on motion.

CONS

Sometimes it takes up to 15min for it to be updated. That can cause a miscommunication when looking for current location.

Top, most widely used tracking option.

It has saved our relationship with multiple customers of our that require tracking on all of their shipments. Easy to set drivers up to track and love the frequency of tracking pings. Check in and check out metrics are vital as well.

PROS

I like that it provides location updates every 15minutes when in use. Tracking also updates when a truck arrives and departs from shippers and receivers which saves on endless accessorial disputes.

CONS

Not much negative to say. It operates well, but have some complaints about not tracking when location setting arent on with a phone, also more of a cell service problem, but it cuts out when drivers are in bad service areas.

Works ok, but would not be my first choice

PROS

Simple and easy to use and setup. Nothing fancy or special about the software

CONS

Looks and feels like it is from the 90s. Could really use an overall update to the look and feel.

The Gold Standard for Visibility Providers

Overall MacroPoint has been a great product for us and we'll continue to use them in the future.

PROS

Other platforms try to emulate what MacroPoint does because it works well and has all of the features we need. The TMS integration makes it easy to get the current shipment status without having to leave our TMS screen. Also, the integration and support folks are knowledgeable and friendly so setup was quick and easy.

CONS

The only area of improvement I see is that they need to make it easier for carriers and brokers to form the partnerships themselves. Right now this requires manual intervention from support to do.

MacroPoint

PROS

The number one thing I like is that it is accurate! It gives location updates regularly. We were able to integrate this with our TMS in order to provide customers with location updates every minute.

CONS

One thing I would improve is the ability to assign team drivers. Sometimes driver split shifts and we lose tracking if they turn their phones off. If both phones could track together we could avoid this.

Tried and Tested Macropoint

Macropoint has worked well for us for over 3 years. It integrates with our TMS and as long as we keep tabs on the drivers it works for the time being.

PROS

Macropoint is nice because of the lower cost and relative ease of use.

CONS

It does not show a live location but pings on a cycle. If driver doesn't have smart phone, or wants to turn off the tracking, they can prohibit your view of freight tracking.

Descartes Macropoint for critical truck tracking

PROS

Their integration with Transport Pro makes it easier for us to create and check on tracking orders made to shipments

CONS

Trucks and trailers do not give locations updates sometimes unless they're rolling. Drivers tracking their phone via Macropoint can lose connection easily too.
