Standups and random team bonding questions made easy

We're solving the issue of standups in a remote team by leveraging Standuply. It makes keeping track of each other easy and it keeps the team accountable. We also love using it for fun questions as well so we can get to know each other a bit better and encourage "water cooler chat" that you normally wouldn't get in a remote team environment.

PROS

Standuply is great for our team because it lets us keep track of each other in a hands off way. We run a daily standup quiz on Tuesdays through to Fridays (we don't do Monday because we have a weekly video catchup so no need). The quick quiz asks users what they did yesterday, what they plan to do today and we have also started adding in an extra fun/get to know each other type question which is great for encouraging team bonding and chat (very important because our team is 100% remote).

CONS

I wish we could add a backlog of "fun" questions and have it auto cycle through them.

The most flexible tool to do async standups

Their team was helpful, responsive. After it's set it works perfectly, I don't remember any big issues.

PROS

Flexibility. Multiple admins, Slack threads. Price is reasonable.

CONS

SaaS interface - too complicated in some places.

Outstandingly!

Daily updates with peoples workloads. Reduces the need for useless video calls that were taking up time and people weren't paying attention.

PROS

Integrates well with Slack so we can see what people are working on and message them directly if there any issues without having to jump to a different program.

CONS

It could do with an improved User holiday recognition system, for example, if there is a Public Holiday in a particular country a remote user is based, it would automatically mark them as on holiday.

Reasons for switching to Standuply

We tried using the built-in features of Slack to do a similar thing, but its feature set was limited.

Automate the boring stuff

Great experience overall. The demo was very thorough, and my account rep was always around to answer questions.

PROS

I hate daily meetings. I have to sit and wait for 30 minutes before I give a brief 3 to 4 minute update. With Standuply, I can just type my responses and go about my work. It saves me almost 7 DAYS a year. Writing down my tasks also helps me organize them in my mind in a way that the daily meeting does not.

CONS

There isn't much to not like. Its simple to use and setup, and doesn't cost much.

Standups for our Remote Team

PROS

In my experience regular standups may turn into status updates and team may feel the monotony. So instead we combine the async Standuply bot with face-to-face huddle formats so the typical "what did you do today, yesterday, etc." questions can be run by the bot and deeper, complex problem solving can be done on the calls. Better use of our time.

CONS

They have a lot of great templates to utilize the bot for things you hadn't thought of like HR, project management, etc. I wish there was a few other "fun" features or questions that could be utilized.

I love the ease of use

While running standup reports, it's important that I use a tool that is very seamless and fast. Standuply does the trick.

PROS

We are content with bot’s features OKRs and Agile chart calculus (burn-down, velocity, and sprint defects). That’s a great way to see statistics. Compatibility with Trello, Jira, Asana, Github, Hubspot, Pivotal are also the main aspects why we’ve chosen this bot.

CONS

I wish we had tried Standuply a few months earlier than we did.

I discovered Standuply, and I think it covers really fantastic pieces on there

The easiest way to bring all of your scrum processes into a single, automated solution.

PROS

Great work of Customer Success: I was provided with online demo and step-by-step instructions. As bot covers a lot scrum processes, I have no clue how to carry them out. Now I must say that I really helps to automate our scrum events.

CONS

Sometimes the loaded of pages is slow but internal expert team is working on the issues immediately upon request.

Bots are better than reminders

On some smaller teams, I have seen it be easier to just use built-in reminders to post the daily questions in a MS Teams channel. But then standup bots have changed my mind completely.

PROS

What we appreciate about this bot is user local time zone standups. Now our team runs multiple reports asynchronously in Microsoft Teams. It should be emphasized that admins are able to tweak employees’ time zones settings from their own accounts. Standuply is the only bot that has this useful trait while its competitors require users to set time zones themselves. In this case, scrum masters will have to notify users to set a time zone that makes running Standup meetings more time-consuming. So we’ve chosen this Standup tool as it is perfectly integrated into Microsoft Teams and includes local time zone features.

CONS

During some meetings the team must gain a shared understanding of the work, which requires face to face conversation about it. So now we've settled on a hybrid - async/bot standups in MS Teams m-w-f, and face to face on Standuply platform - tue/thu

Standuply - Le meilleur outil pour les réunions

Easy standups whilw saving time

Very happy with the investmenr

Keeping the team going in the same direction is easy with Standuply. We were already using slack and teams. Standuply was tge tool that glued everything together.

CONS

Being a frequent traveller, the mobile app is not available yet. Not a huge deal. But cant wait for that.

Greatest Tool for Departmental Feedback

The standup reports have helped the team keep important updated accumulated and swiftly reported to my boss to keep consistent communication on pressing and non-pressing updates.

PROS

The standup reports sent to my team tremendously help the smooth collection of feedback on their progress on work and feedback for my boss' review. We set recurring reports to be sent to the team weekly to gather this feedback and continue to do so. The questions regarding a grading scale are summarized at the end in a pictograph, which is a nice visual.

CONS

We are excited to see what Standuply evolves to be or offers as a feature in the future!

Great tool to manage standups

Our team had been using the Standuply bot for quite a while now. It has easy interface and integration with Slack. We have remote locations, so it is easy to set different reports to different time zones. The data, which these bots gather allows us to prepare for meetings, track daily progress and gather improvements suggestions from the team before retrospectives. It's simple and efficient. Customer support experience is great, guys were (and are) always there for you, if you have a question and also open to suggestions how to improve their product. And they are passionate about what they are doing. I would say the price after beta is higher than I have expected, but it saves more time and money that it costs, which is what business should think about:)

Standuply drives team continuity and productivity

Our team can check-in no matter where they are or what they are working on. It's amazing!

Standuply was a smooth setup and has been an effective tool for our team. The Standup Bot for Slack helps our remote team stay connected and on the same page, while we all work remotely.

It's incredible! There isn't anything we can complain about. Pricing may possibly be the only thing we would love to see adjusted. However, for the quality of what you get, it makes perfect sense! We highly recommend this tool.

Easy to use and saves time

PROS

Getting set up was super simple and frictionless. So far it's been very helpful for recording status updates from team members in several different timezones, and saves us the trouble of chasing people down.

CONS

The browser console is a little buggy and sometimes I've had to exit, and return later to finish what I was doing. The Jira integration also leaves something to be desired.

Keep calm and automate

As a business owner and project manager as well, I understand that such practices mean daily standups in Slack are increasingly important. I conduct scrum events brilliantly, and the process is even easier with Standuply.

PROS

Now my work has become less busy, the bot helsps me run my scrums. I am happy the bot is works and it has freed time for me to do other important things. I want to note that Standuply is convenient to administer. The web dashboard is pretty admin-friendly I must say. There I see statistic on reports and response history. That’s a important and valuable point.

CONS

There are no obvious cons. If I don't like something, then I don't use it. But I’m going to use Standuply when it fits!

Nice but raw feature

PROS

Easy tool for routine surveys - we use it for daily scrum. Also useful for gathering info privately - for retros, mood monitoring etc. I like the if-else feature for the surveys.

Now I boldly call myself Bot-Lover

I have been looking for an easy way to check in with my remote team and Standuply fits the bill!

PROS

Some period of time I used to hold traditional standups and that's all. With the bot, the other scrum processes became clear and accessible to me. Now we run retrospectives, Kanban Standup, 360° Feedback Survey, Planning poker on the daily basis with Standuply.

CONS

I have not found anything wrong. Their solution is so easy and helpful.

Helpful tool that saves time in standups

- Usually you don't need support for this product. But if you do, you will probably wait for feedback for quite some time if you are not in their premium ("program manager") package
