Excellent online software
I am very happy with this product. I use it for bookkeeping and my accountant reviews my entries at regular intervals.
PROSIt is easy to use and you can't do anything wrong. I am using this program for 4-5 years and never had any technical issues. Reporting is straightforward and I can see my financial situation at any time.
CONSI am a happy QuickBooks user and have nothing negative to report.
Reason for choosing QuickBooks Online
My accountant prefers QuickBooks.
Reasons for switching to QuickBooks Online
Excel is not handy for a large amount of invoices and there is always risk you might damage the formulas implemented.

Fantastic cloud-based accounting solution for any size company
If you want a single spot to manage your finances, I can think of no better option than QuickBooks Online. There's no need to download or install any software, and they've been a frontrunner in the accounting software market for many years.
PROSOne of my clients right now utilizes QuickBooks Online to keep track of their finances and sellable goods. My own personal involvement with this system spans several years, and I am responsible for managing it from an administrative and deployment perspective.
CONSI'm hoping they'll upgrade their website to accept Schedule K forms soon. New users may find it difficult to get their bearings, depending on their familiarity with accounting software.
Reasons for switching to QuickBooks Online
Getting started quickly and easily is a breeze. The online nature of the service eliminates the need to back up data or invest in expensive server hardware, and the setup process is quick and painless.

Simple Yet Very Effective
This is the perfect system for both small and even mid-sized companies. Everything is easy to learn and can be mastered quickly. You can use the system for simple and complex transactions just as easily.
PROSI like how easy it is to learn and get comfortable with QBO. The simplicity does not sacrifice effectiveness as I find myself able to operate well in any function of my role. Data is organized well enough to be able to go back and find any transactions that I need to look for. The system typically runs very smooth with minimal glitches and slow downs.
CONSThe integration with external apps could be improved. The versatility of QBO could be enhanced to interact more clearly with other/more apps.
Reason for choosing QuickBooks Online
QBO had the best value for our needs and was very simple to onboard.

Takes a bit to get used to, missing some features, but overall, adequate
Overall, it does what we need it to do. It is relatively easy to figure out, and some of the features are decent. The Quickbooks desktop version was much better, but they really make it financially not make sense to maintain the desktop version to push you to their online subscription-based model. It is lacking a lot of basic features that the desktop version had, it's incredibly buggy, and if you do not use their automated features (which are not foolproof and do not allow you to re-verify any discrepancies), it will leave you with obnoxious incomplete tasks that you cannot "complete" because you didn't use the automated feature. Those are our main complaints. Otherwise, it does everything it needs to. It is probably the biggest software on the market, so it tends to be most-often compatible with any other software you may use in your business. There are definitely good and bad things.
PROSWe primarily use QBO, as it is the software our accounting agency uses. We previously used the desktop version until QB rolled out a new pricing increase that made it exorbitantly pricey to maintain the desktop version. There is a lot about the online version that is great; the transaction matching, the customizable dashboard, the ability to have multiple users, etc. It is relatively intuitive if you are decent with software.
CONSQuickbooks essentially pushes you out of the desktop version to the online, subscription-based model by pricing the Desktop version at a ridiculously high rate and making you pay for an additional yearly subscription, which was a huge frustration, as QBO lacks a lot of the features that the desktop version had. QBO wants you to do an automated version of payroll; however, you literally cannot let it be automated as it does not have the capability to automatically transfer overtime hours. It also lacks the ability to make payments out of deduction accounts; ie: if you offer something like life insurance deducted from your employee's checks, it does not automatically total that under the life insurance account as it did in the desktop version, you have to do all of this manually. A lot of things that were automated and smooth in the desktop version are completely manual in QBO, which is completely counter-intuitive. It is also really buggy. It shows us "tasks" that are overdue (like taxes for instance) that have been completed, and no matter how many times we mark them as complete, they just permanently exist as tasks (something QB has not fixed). Additionally, you cannot manually mark certain tasks as complete as QB wants you to do it through their automated services. For instance, we have an accountant review and put together our w-2's at the end of the year just to verify everything was entered correctly, that there are no issues, and verify that all of the taxes are correct. Because we have that done outside of QB's automated online delivery, this will apparently forever be a task that we have not completed.

Easy to use and cheap
Incredibly easy to use as long as you don't need the helpdesk. Let's us do everything from timekeeping, to payroll, invoicing, taxes, expenses and reporting.
PROSPrice and ease of use. Quickbooks includes all the things we need to run our small business and costs less than what others cost just for payroll.
CONSThe helpdesk is completely useless. I've spent at least 100 hours in the last year to get issues resolved that end up not getting fixed, I fix it myself, or I knew what needed fixing and it took forever to get somebody to do it.

PROSI like that it’s cloud base and so multiple people can work on it at the same time
CONSPayroll. They have not allowed for proper payroll control or functionality. Now they are basing charges on active employees and not on those paid in the month of billing cycle. So for those that have employees on call we have to pay even if they were not paid. We have to go and make them inactive every month just so we do not get billed for them. PROSQuickBooks Online is a great tool for bookkeeping and tax preparation for clients in a small tax practice. The ease of accessing a client's books is so much easier than with Desktop versions.

Too many problems with the Software and poor support
First, when I moved my business from Quickbooks desktop to Quickbooks Online, it cost me thousands of dollars in accounting fees to fix all the errors that QBO introduced. The transition was a nightmare, and took months to sort out. Inuit was ZERO help during this time. Since then QBO has gotten worse, not better. There are constant sync issues with bank accounts and credit cards, and QBO staff always recommend that you call your bank or credit card company. But these are QBO issues, and can only be resolved by QBO engineers, sometimes with the help of the bank or card company in question. It's ridiculous to ask a consumer to get involved in those kinds of issues, and a complete waste of time. I have had numerous times where a credit card purchase showed as being processed, but only months later we found it didn't and lost the money - thousands of dollars in total. QBO and Intuit Merchant services take no responsibility. Recently QBO forced Paypal as a payment option, and users cannot turn it off. But payments come in with no name associated with the payment. QBO insists this is a paypal problem, but it is not. A client receives an invoice online, pays it online, and then Quickbooks cannot match the payment to a name, but won't let you turn off paypal as an option. If clients pay an invoice just using your email, using paypal without QBO, then payments match. Clearly QBO has a big problem here.
PROSIt is convenient when it works. You can theoretically sync your bank accounts, credit cards and client payments, saving time in accounting and eliminating a lot of data entry
CONSMerchant Services is expensive and unresponsive. The software has many bugs, and often won't sync with accounts for days or more. Tech support is hit and miss, and often I will resolve an issue before they can. In line ads are extremely annoying, and QBO treats its customers as a product, rather than a customer. There is no service level agreement and Intuit takes zero responsibility if they lose your data. They no longer have a phone number you can call. You have to wait for a callback, and many times they don't call back.
Reason for choosing QuickBooks Online
I chose what I knew. I didn't understand at the time however that Quickbooks Desktop and Quickbooks Online are like two completely different companies. They don't talk to each other, and QBO is an inferior product in many ways. These two things are not the same.
Reasons for switching to QuickBooks Online
We switched from Quickbooks desktop to Quickbooks Online so our accounting would not be tied to one computer.

Quickbooks Serves It's Purpose
It's a somewhat love-hate relationship I have with Quickbooks. Love more so though. I have gotten used to a lot of Quickbooks' quirks now. It was a difficult go to get started to get things set up but I had support. I've been using Quickbooks for a few years now. I like how clean and organized invoices look for clients and how I can customize them and emails. I appreciate recurring invoices that help to avoid user error on consistency in repeat services and in sending invoices on time.
PROSI like the ability to customize how invoices and emails look. I appreciate the ability we had to import our clients' details and past invoices when we started up with Quickbooks. The plethora of reports and customizable reports are very useful. I also appreciate being able to process payments through Quickbooks. The search ability is decent helpful in looking for specific invoices, amounts, or other specific data.
CONSIt was quite a challenge to get everything up and going when we started with Quickbooks There are some features that are limited and seem to operate oddly, such as deleting some clients vs marking some as inactive. If I have completed services with certain clients, I want to keep their data, but mark them inactive. When I mark them as inactive, the system puts them in a state of "deleted", which makes me very concerned when I see that. I don't want to lose their data. Also, some duplicates of clients have been created or clients never started services with us. So that data was just bloating the system and a bit confusing sometimes. Those particular clients would be good to actually fully delete them. I've run into processes that can be very confusing. Luckily my accountant is able to help me through the challenges.
Reasons for switching to QuickBooks Online
Our new accountant uses Quickbooks for the full set of services we needed so we needed to switch over to Quickbooks.

Being a user of QBO since 2009...
It is easy to use and intuitive user interface. I have to say that since 2009, there have been great improvements to the interface, and bank integrations are now available.
CONSFor the price point, there are many other similar software that you can get much better value for what you are paying. The bank syncing option while is good, is very clunky and takes too much time and gets dropped off very often. To be fair, it may be the bank systems but it is annoying as a user. There is also very limited options in customizing the template of your documents such as invoices, payment vouchers, receipts. As the world transits to online payments, the least QBO can offer is to allow the option to add QR code of your own respective bank on the Invoice to make payment easier for clients. But this feature is not available on QBO
Reason for choosing QuickBooks Online
It was recommended by my accountant. Now looking back since 2009 that I started using QBO, I should have changed ages ago to other software that gets better value for what you are paying. To be clear, I am a consultant & coach, and it is just meeting the basic expectations of what is needed. Perhaps for other industries, it may be better.

Easy To Use Accounting Software For Small Business Owners
My overall experience with Quickbooks Online has been positive. While there are some things that can be improved, it has served its purpose for me for the past few years. The price is fairly comparable to other online software. The only other one I have had experience with is Freshbooks but I switched to Quickbooks Online because of a promotion that gave me a much cheaper option.
PROSQuickBooks Online is a great accounting software for busy entrepreneurs who are looking for a centralized way to keep all their billing/invoicing/expense tracking/payment processing in one place. I find it quite easy to use. It allows me to forego the expense of a physical accountant and grants me the convenience of creating and sending invoices online, accepting payment, managing invoice history and tracking expenses. Instead of having to purchase software and being relegated to one laptop, you can access this software anywhere. In addition, if you have contractors/employees, depending on your plan, you can process your payroll directly from the software which is an added bonus.
CONSI like most of the features associated with Quickbooks Online, however, as a designer myself I think there could be a greater variety in the invoice template selection. It is very easy to brand their current templates, but as someone who values brand aesthetic highly, I would love to be able to cater the visual of the invoice to be more aligned with my brand aesthetic.
Reasons for switching to QuickBooks Online
I switched because the price of the Freshbooks software increased and QuickBooks Online happened to have a good promotion that convinced me to switch.

I like how easily reports can be customized
The system is simple to learn and utilize. Helps me prepare for tax season all year long so that I don't have to worry about anything. An emphasis is placed on UI and user experience. It's clear to see that they've done so. Because we don't utilize all of the tools, there might be a lot of clutter in our workspaces.
PROSIn order to handle my clients' businesses, I use Quickbooks Online, a powerful accounting program. In addition to project accounting, we can handle receivables and payables, set up rules for posting to cut down on time for posting (which equals cheaper accounting costs!), and quickly produce useful reports with this software.
CONSI'd want to be able to create bespoke purchase orders with additional signatures, but I'm not able to do so at the moment. The ability to perform genuine bank reconciliations from within the program would be an added bonus. The process of comparing receipts to invoices is likewise time-consuming.
Reasons for switching to QuickBooks Online
QuickBooks Maintaining track of payroll statements and work accomplished by workers is simple; it is also advantageous for employees to have access to paystubs and payroll information as soon as it becomes available.

QBO Works, But It Should Be Better Than It Is
Due to the massive price increase to move to a 60k+ ERP, QBO is probably still the way to go, it's just a shame that they haven't done a better job listening to their customers and implementing the MANY MANY requests and suggestions that they have been receiving for years.
PROSYou can login online from anywhere, and it does a great job of syncing with your bank accounts
CONSThe support is basically non-existent. Also, there is just no reason that they haven't implemented more customization options for how long this software has been out. They also make syncing with other programs sound good, but then limit what can actually be done on the back-end.
Reason for choosing QuickBooks Online
We chose QBO over the many ERPs that we had looked at, because we ended up finding a product called OrderTime that does an excellent job syncing with QBO and takes care of our inventory and order management needs. If it weren't for OrderTime, we would have probably moved forward with an full ERP.
Reasons for switching to QuickBooks Online

Efficient and User-Friendly: A Game-Changer for My Business - Quickbooks Online Review
My overall experience with Quickbooks Online has been extremely positive. It has streamlined my financial management processes, allowing me to stay organized and gain better insights into my business's financial health. The platform's integration capabilities with other business tools, such as banking institutions and payment processors, have made my workflow more seamless. The ability to generate professional invoices, track expenses, and run detailed reports has been invaluable in making informed decisions for my business.
PROSQuickbooks Online has revolutionized the way I manage my business finances. One of its standout features is the ease of use. The intuitive interface makes it simple to navigate through various financial tasks, even for someone like me who isn't a finance expert. The platform's user-friendly design ensures that I can quickly access and update my financial data without any hassle. It saves me valuable time and allows me to focus more on growing my business.
CONSWhile Quickbooks Online offers a range of powerful features, the pricing structure can be a drawback. The subscription fees can add up, especially for small businesses or startups operating on a tight budget. Additionally, some advanced features are only available in the higher-tier plans, which may limit the functionality for those on lower-tier plans. It would be great if there were more affordable options or a flexible pricing model to cater to businesses of all sizes.
Reasons for switching to QuickBooks Online
Quickbooks Online stands out from its alternatives in several aspects. Firstly, its cloud-based nature means I can access my financial data from anywhere, anytime, using any device with an internet connection. This flexibility has been a game-changer, as I no longer need to be tied to a specific computer or worry about data backups. Secondly, the extensive third-party app ecosystem enhances the platform's functionality and allows me to customize it according to my business needs. Lastly, Quickbooks Online's robust customer support ensures that I can always reach out for assistance whenever I encounter an issue or have questions. The combination of these superior aspects sets Quickbooks Online apart and makes it my go-to choice for financial management.

Great option for any business!
The software itself was easy to use and navigate.
PROSThe expenses and sales receipts entries. Both are imperative to running a successful business, and the ease of imputing the information and generating reports is phenomenal. Other programs have a tendency to be a little more difficult to navigate for some users, however, this specific aspect of Quickbooks is extremely user friendly. The fact that it is also available online is a game changer.
CONSI wish there was another way to enter in time for a Client, instead of having to do it all at once. There are other programs that we also utilize that allow our office to enter time day by day, versus Client by Client, which saves time in the long run. I also wish there was a way to utilize the payroll feature when working with a third-party. One of our partners are unable to access this feature during tax time because the payroll provider is a third-party and not by Quickbooks, and therefore we are unable to use the reports generated for that specific item.

CONSYou can outgrow it quickly. When we had 45+ subcontractors filling their timesheets on QB, the consolidated invoice generation at the end of month started getting problematic.
