NCM - Great so Far
We are using NCM to make sure we have config backups of our network devices. In the future, we will explore the compliance and syslog change management piece.
PROSPersonally, I like the layout and the many different features. We are just getting started and have only scratched the surface but so far, its been pretty sweet. I would say there is a bit of a learning curve but that comes with most things. With a little trial and error, it is not too bad. That is not to mention support is great (thanks [sensitive content hidden]), they respond ASAP and get you to a resolution.
CONSI think the inventory view could make it a bit more clear on what is managed on what isn't. For example, you might have a device that has the credentials applied and you can attempt to back it up but it might not be "managed". Maybe the icons could be more explanatory initially.
Reason for choosing ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager
Haven't fully decided yet as it is a team decision.

In terms of config back-up and configlets it has done fantastic job whereas in terms of compliance and vulnerabilities it is not up to the mark.
PROSConfig back-up set up is the most liked feature in the application
CONSSince there is the compliance report in the tool it should give the report for all the devices which are on-boarded to tool. In my case it was unable to give the compliance report for the HP Aruba devices

Useful add-on
I like it but it took a while to find my way around. The support team are great and very helpful but some dedicated training videos would be good.
PROSNCM is part of our Opmanager deployment so I didn't know much about it when we deployed it The more I use it the more i found out about it. It has some very useful features and is a very good bolt on for Opmanager
CONSIt is not well laid out. Not sure if this is because it is a bolt on rather than a standalone product but I feel that things are scattered about, instead of everything being under a single menu option.. There are two or three different ways to get to NCM specific components and this make sit difficult to find setting if you are unfamiliar with it.
Reason for choosing ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager
It came as part of the Opmanager suite so it wasn't a proactive choice.

NCM - Great Product for Configuration Archival
Really enjoy NCM. I have added this to my standard toolkit that I take with me when I change roles or companies.
PROSProduct was extremely easy to purchase and deploy. The cost was cheap compared to other tools out in the market. GUI is easy to use and very intuitive.
CONSNCM lacks a bit of polish, for example some of the GUI elements could use some rework.

Best options of Network Configuration
It is very easy to use and automates the Network Configuration for Backups and restoration and Compliance Check. It helps the Administrator to track, Monitor and modify configurations. Centralized control from Single Dashboard is the best feature.
CONSNothing special to highlight. This is as per my expectations.

Good product for Cisco Users
I recently completed a cybersecurity audit which identified a lack of automated network config backup. This product was purchased to fill that whole, but it ended up being much more useful. I have used it to clean up all of my configs and it made increasing the security of my configs much easier.
PROSThis software is great for Cisco Users as it has a bunch of pre-defined templates available. I haven't found any Cisco equipment without a template so far. I really like the ability to create my own compliance rules and then easily create config-lets to automate correcting problems. For instance when I want to make sure that https access is disabled I create a rule that scans the config for "ip http server" and if it finds that it flags it as non-compliant. I can then create a quick script that will login to the switch, go to config mode, enter "no ip http server", write the config, and logout.
CONSThere are a few areas that could use some polish but nothing major. It doesn't always recognize new equipment during the discovery process. It will know that a device is there but not know what type of device. Once you manually assign the product type it works fine.
Reason for choosing ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager
I have had very good sucess with other ManageEngine products such as AD Self Service. They have very responsive customer service and are constantly providing improvements to their products.

Perfect for us.
Our overall experience with the product was great. Their pricing is very competitive, the product was easy to install and configure, and in no time we were backing up the configurations of all of our network devices which is exactly what we wanted. We have also configured automatic change notification email alerts when any change is made on any of our network configurations.
PROSThe most important features for us are the automatic configuration backups of all of our network devices. NCM is very easy to use and very easy to implement.
CONSI would like the ability for real time monitoring for our network devices with notification when they are no longer reachable. NCM alerts us via email when a device fails the hourly automatic config backup, which is nice, but quite what we would like from a monitoring perspective. However NCM is not a monitoring product and ManageEngine sells OpManager for that sort of thing.
Reason for choosing ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager
Familiarity with ManageEngine products (Desktop Central) and pricing.

NCM Review
Overall the product is very stable and works continuously. We've had a handful of issues, but the support team were great on identifying and resolving issues for us.
PROSWe backup all out devices hourly and have emailed change detection enabled, this is key for our global team to understand any changes made clearing showing the before and after changes.
CONSWe have some Cisco ASA Firewalls with multiple contexts which are only accessible from the mgmt context, so are not able to see each context in NCM. As a workaround, we use configlets to backup all context files by tftp instead. Also it would be great to have the open to change a device template attached to a device, currently if we want to use a different device template, we have to delete and re-add - which also loses all config change history.

NCM is the Real Deal
Real time change managment is the most used feature for me, being able to make changes in real time and montior any changes being made. All while prevent anyabody from making changes which might impact the network. Config Managment has replaced SCCM for me and being able to also automate task is a real game changer.
CONSI find it difficult using the Auditing feature. Its design and layout make it hard to really capture the information i want.
