Shoeboxed is a cloud-based expense management solution that captures information from physical documents and converts it to digital data and integrates with popular accounting platforms.
Shoeboxed is used by small businesses, freelancers and contract workers, and it also offers plans for higher volume users, such as accountants and bookkeepers.
Subscribers to Shoeboxed receive prepaid “Magic Envelopes” for mailing receipts and paperwork to an operations center to be scanned, then securely shredded. The data is extracted from the scans and verified by human data operators.
Data captured and digitized by Shoeboxed is searchable and categorized. Scanned business cards can be used to create an online contacts database, while receipts can be used to create expense reports. Shoeboxed partners with major accounting software programs, allowing users to import data directly.
There are three pricing tiers for different business sizes: Lite, Classic and Business, with a fourth Executive tier offered for accountants and bookkeepers. Each requires a yearly subscription, billed monthly.
Shoeboxed also offers native apps for iPhone, iPad and Android, which use a device’s GPS to track mileage and camera to capture receipts.
