Logikcull Software

Logikcull is a cloud based system for managing the process of legal discovery. With Logikcull, practices are able to drag and drop files, search, cull, and create discovery productions within a secure system.

Logikcull makes documents accessible via mobile phones, tablets, and smartwatches.

With Logikcull, documents are automatically de-duplicated and de-nisted; metadata, attachments, and text are preserved and searchable; every document is converted into a PDF format to review and use in productions; and images are automatically OCR’d through Logikcull’s partnership with Abbyy. Users are able to find relevant and non-relevant documents through the program’s Culling Intelligence engine, and production templates can be created and saved for future use. Practices are also able to produce in PDF or TIFF formats either with or without endorsements and flatten and OCR redacted files to ensure non-redacted information is not produced.

This is an absolute fantastic platform. I deal with 1000s of files on regular basis and their search capability is by far the best. You really can't beat the price and pay as you go structure either.

Pros

Step 1: Drag & drop files into browser. Step 2: Get to work on the project.
(It's really that easy)

Cons

There are none unless you really enjoy spending lots of money. (I do not)

Logikcull is easy to use and makes economic sense for us and for our clients. Technical support, both in terms of online how-to resources, and live telephone support, are brilliant.

Likes Least

Can't think of anything. I've used this product for about 2 years off-and-on and it just keeps getting better.

Recommendations

If you use the software all the time, what tools are provided to batch, streamline, or reproduce the work process? If you don't get to use it often, how easy is it to pick up and use quickly and effectively, and how responsive is technical support? How intuitive are the online tutorials when you are under the gun and need to figure something out right away on your own, or in the middle of the night? Logikcull has both ends of this spectrum completely covered.

Logikcull makes other document processing and review products look their age. It's seamless UI and powerful processing ability set it apart from the competition and it represents the future of e-discovery products.

Nothing. When they have problems, they fix them as fast as you can report them. I've never encountered a product that implements user suggestions like they do.

The product is very easy to navigate; it has a simple but effective interface with tons of power search tools and the ability to output document production in multiple formats. Logik is a great company to work with, their tech support always responds quickly with useful answers and they are very open to customer feedback.

Likes Least

The document previewer is a little slow to load larger(100+ page pdfs and etc.). Also the ability to do certain things like delete a document upload set from a project would be nice.

Recommendations

Temper your expectations going in. This a very useful product to assist with e-discovery but it doesn't do everything and it's built around the concept of power searching so you'll need to have some idea about what you expect to get out of the data you input. Try not to be overwhelmed at first glace. The interface has a great many options, settings, and filters. It's easy to get lost at first but once you get used to it you'll find it's very intuitive and powerful.

Logikcull is easy to use and is the only e-discovery software company of which I am aware that offers a free account up to 100 Mb. The software works on any platform and device. Uploading is easy and fast. The software makes it easy to handle any amount of data more efficiently.

Likes Least

I am told that Logikcull is improving the flexibility of its production/download capabilities. It already is a very effective component, but there are improvements that are apparently in the works that will make it even easier to use.

Recommendations

Fully test the software and use it in a case so you utilize every component and aspect of the software to provide a comprehensive and accurate assessment.

The double edged sword of simple cloud services is that they are hosted off site. The speed won't compare with something hosted in house for most folks.

Pros

Very intuitive. Prompt response to questions via messaging. After spending 2 hours on an initial 10,000 pages of document production (2-3 bankers boxes), I located the hot doc that proved fraudulent conduct by the defendant. So far a great (and apparently affordable) solution for the small firm in lieu of spreading the documents all over the floor of your office and trying to organize them.

Cons

Important to take the 30-40 minute walk through before starting. After that it was quite easy to use, and questions (mainly about email attachments) were promptly responded to by staff. More comprehensive training is offered, but I'll wait a bit and work through the system before taking the class.

Ease of use with handling massive databases, and by and large a very intuitive interface.

Pros

All of the basic database functionality was very easy to learn. I can figure out how to answer most issues that come up on my own. The few times I have had issues, the built-in tech support chat feature has provided me with effective and relatively fast assistance.

Cons

It's too easy to make a catastrophic tagging mistake. One time I was tagging documents with a search of all then-untagged documents, and I accidentally group tagged the entire search (16,000 or so documents), rather than the 20 documents on that page of results. Your tech support was able to help fix my mistake after an hour or so of diligent work on their part, but creating some sort of "undo" option might be a good idea.

I like how user friendly the overall database looks. It's also extremely easy to upload documents and see which documents belong to which import.

If we could search for documents without the coding in the beginning that'd be nice. Also previewing documents on the side is sometimes slow because of how "flashy" everything is.

Pros

The most used features - reviewing, tagging, and simple searches are very easy and user friendly and not a lot of training is necessary to get started reviewing docs.

Cons

it is incredibly slow. Everything loads slowly, it is hard to quickly flip through documents, and the process for downloading is also frustrating. If you want to download a group of documents, some with bates stamps and some without (i.e. a batch with docs we produced and docs that were produced to us), the system refuses to do that, and, at times, it downloads each document into its own separate folder which is a huge pain when trying to quickly download and use a group of documents.

It has streamlined our review process. I am able to supervise and communicate with our reviewers through the software. This has given me more confidence in our review team.

Pros

Logikcull's interface is incredible. It provides reviewers with the ability to easily flag and comment on documents that are of particular interest or that are giving them difficulty in coding. I am able to easily search for and analyze the work they have been done to ensure the quality of work.

Cons

I have asked tech support about this issue, and it appears that there is no way to see what "saved searches" a document appears in when that document is being viewed. This is a function I would like to see Logikcull add in the future.

I especially like the bulk keyword search, which allows me to see how valuable different search terms will be, all at once. I also like that you can have multiple browser tabs open, so that you can toggle back and forth between more than one project on Logikcull at the same time.

Cons

I do not like the fact that if you edit the text in the search bar after running an advanced search, it doesn't modify the search. You should be able to toggle between advanced and ordinary searches with slightly more permanency, so that you don't constant have to reopen the advanced search function.

Pros

The document import and export features are excellent. I have spent far too much time with load files in other software, and I'm not eager to ever do that again.

Cons

The interface could be more responsive. Ideally one could perform a search on the "none" tag and have the update happen more quickly between documents. There is a visible delay when the search is performed again. In order to tag a document as "responsive" I have to hold down Shift for a couple of beats *before* I also hit R, or it won't take. Other little irritants like that.

I love how easy it is to get through so many thousands of applicable documents in a flash. Having to use the site every day, I have a lot of experience culling through thousands of documents, and it makes my job easier being able to automatically know that I'm going through the correct documents. I like the ability to search by date range in emails and to search blocks of bates stamped documents. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs a system especially small offices who only need a system occasionally. You pay when you use it and that is great for a solo or small firm and for litigants who are budgeting the cost of litigation.

Cons

Learning how to do document review management on my own.

Pros

Once I have a production template, it's really quick to cut productions. I like the ease of creating batches and tagging documents, and I really like the filter options on the front page of search results.

Cons

I'd love a more robust tagging system (with single-option boxes, for example, where a reviewer must select one of two options, or a drop-down menu selector). I'd appreciate a pared-down field list in the advanced search menu. I'd also like to be able to modify previously saved searches (or at least see how I built them).
