Fishbowl Manufacturing is a business automation and inventory management platform for small to mid-sized. It integrates with QuickBooks accounting.

Fishbowl offers inventory control, material requirements planning (MRP) and job shop floor control / manufacturing execution, and can be to users’ needs. It is an inventory-centric system, with features for barcoding, asset management, raw materials management, cycle counting and customized reporting. The system also automates the quoting, ordering and purchasing processes.

Fishbowl Manufacturing is used in just about every industry by companies earning up to $100 million in annual revenue. It offers training and support resources through its training videos, online tutorials, in-house specialists and more. Fishbowl’s integration with QuickBooks allows users to integrate manufacturing, sales, and distribution processes with back office accounting.

For nearly 10 years, Fishbowl has held Intuit’s Gold Partner status, the highest level of service third-party developers can achieve.

The customer service is very quick to respond and helpful in both fixing and explaining issues. The product itself is very intuitive to use.

Cons

The Inventory lists - I wish there was an option where you could only print the inventory under a certain location group (including inventory that has qty 0).

Fishbowl Inventory was a great success in our first year of utilization. The biggest and easiest improvement was the vast reduction of manual order duplication, as we were able to have orders submitted from our website directly into Fishbowl, and then have sales orders pushed directly into Quick Books on the back end of the system. As we learn to better use Fishbowl, we are more accurate with reporting to our customer's accurate data, and also keep our sales representatives up to date with inventory levels, pricing, and order tracking on behalf of their customers.

For the record - our small seed company grew with the help of Fishbowl Inventory!

Pros

We really like the data transfer capabilities with an API interface from our website order platform, and the data push into Quick books on the back end. So much time has been saved from manual data entry duplication. The ability to have multiple users from all over with remote hosting allows sales reps from TX to MT to place orders and see inventory availability prior to order placing. Having the opportunity to write our own I-reports to meet our specifications.

Cons

We haven't been able to make mobile applications work yet for our systems. We still have challenges with the real time tracking of inventory between locations with using bar-codes, scanners and mobile devices.

We are now six months into our Fishbowl deployment and I must say, our expectations have been surpassed. May it be functionality or support, the Fishbowl team delivers. I would also like to note that the support team goes the extra mile! Garret has been great!

Pros

Ease of use and scalability.

Cons

Though the product documentation and wiki are excellent, there are some holes that require the support team to answer. At times, clear answers are not provided upon first inquiry.

If you are having difficulty managing inventory I highly recommend that you take a look at Fishbowl.

Pros

There are plenty of reports to slice data as needed. You can keep the system as simple as you want or set it calculate re-order quantity based on demand.

Cons

There are a few minor adjustments in reporting to QuickBooks that need to be addressed. Other than that it is a solid system.

Pros

This software is great for processing orders and managing inventory. Our inventory has never been so accurate and our processes streamlined.

Cons

The customer service agents are very nice and extremely helpful, the problem is that Fishbowl does not employ enough of them so when a problem comes up you have to send an email and wait...maybe up to 1 day which is a issue when you can't process orders until they contact you back and fix the problem. It's really the only issue I have but it is a BIG issue.

Not advisable for Internet Retailers and Manufactures

Were shall I start. Sales guy will tell you how easy it is to implement and this is not the case. The process of getting the software to work for you individual companies needs will take 30 to 120 days to implement. (We Planned for a week and our entire business was shut down for 2 weeks until we scrapped it.) During the implementation integration issues were constant the first one was with QB Online which we were unable to integrate. Once we scrapped it it dumped information into QB and corrupted our sales figures and inventory. Also promised integration with ShipStation very glitchy and cost an extra $k. Customer Support sometimes took 2, 3, 4, 5 hours to get back to us regarding issues.

Also beware if they sell you a scanner it count's as a user again never mention during the sales calls. Once we purchased it we realized it was going to be more complex than we were lead on to believe so we pushed the installation back 6 months. Ooh your 30 day guarantee is from the date purchased surprise. Not from the time you actually tried to install it.

Pros

Sales Dept really good promising you the world and telling you everything you want to hear.

Cons

Complete Nightmare Implementation, Customer Service, Return Policy, Etc Etc Etc.

Although we have yet to fully implement the full software suite, we absolutely love this product and has gone a long way into revamping our inventory processes. Efficiency is now at an all-time high.

Pros

What you see is what you get, there are no surprises and the staff is very friendly and attentive.

Cons

We needed more hands on help and less shared screen tutorials, but that's par for the course with many software companies these days.

Good, Solid WMS

Fishbowl is a good, solid warehouse management system. It has all the functionality needed to manage our inventory and warehouse (over 1500 bin locations and 5000 sku's in a 25,000sq ft whse) . Customer support is always helpful and friendly.

Pros

Cycle Counting Functionality, Lot Traceability, Can track customer specific fields like Country of Origin, Carton Quantity, any specific as needed. The activity report is very detailed to track parts and what user touched them last. We import and are able to easily hold the product in our inventory for dollar value but as 'in-transit' (not sellable or pickable) once it sails until it actually hits the door. Inventory dollars between FB and Quickbooks are very accurate.

Cons

Does not have an EASY way to handle 'outside processing'; It can be done with transfer orders, but it is a bit time consuming.
Currently, the Activity Report is losing user ids.

Advice to Others

I would recomment Fishbowl as a Warehouse Management System.
