ShipStation is a multi-carrier, multi-channel shipping solution designed to facilitate the shipping and fulfillment process for online retailers. The solution is cloud-based and key features include label creation, order management, customer information management and discounted shipping rates.

ShipStation automatically retrieves and consolidates order information from over 40 sales channels, applies a preconfigured set of shipping preferences to each order based on specifications, processes and prints customized shipping labels and packing slips and automatically updates each store with shipping status and tracking information.

Management of all customer communication is automated and provides consolidated reporting for immediate viewing. Other functions include prefilled international customs forms, the ability to combine and split orders, user auditing and permissions management. ShipStation also offers integration with Fulfillment by Amazon.

Excellent Option for those looking to speed up shipping.

If you're looking to speed up your shipping service then this is an excellent choice. Prices are reasonable and there are so many integrations it is more than likely that you'll be able to use it with your marketplace. After you set up automated rules and product information, all it really takes is several minutes to get all the labels you need to be printed. Integration with order fulfillment/warehouse management software also allows you to print labels after picking and packing so you can avoid shipping canceled orders.

Cons

While ShipStation does have many functions, there are a lot that still need to be improved upon.
You cannot "delete" products, merely deactivate them.
There is a limit to how much you can customize labels.
When importing products from eBay weight and dimensions not imported, this is particularly annoying when you have many products.

Saves copying addresses out of Magento by hand.

Pros

Remote label printing works well. Does work with non-US based UPS accounts. Web based ... that's about it really.

Cons

Struggles with international shipments. Shipstation does not support multi-currency, so if you have more than one sales currency, you are hosed. Shipstation does not support shipping to any country that needs a special customs declaration (like NAFTA statement on US->Canada shipping) so for many countries, you will need to do a manual UPS shipment. Shipstation uses pounds or GRAMMES ... very few stores ship in grammes, mostly kg, which Shipstation does not support, so imported weights are always wrong. Does not support international returns. No "rule set" for allocating different countries/services to different carrier services ... etc etc You cannot easily see which shipments are attached to an order. Having printed a label in "orders" you cannot then print a packing slip afterwards, you have to do packing slip then label. Cannot easily print a UPS return label on the thermal printer .. can only email or download ... theres a workaround, but it's non-obvious. The multi-currency and customs failings are a pain for us :(

Pros

Compared to the way we were shipping before importing into UPS and USPS this has been amazing. Keeps our shipping totally transparent to employees and customers - everyone knows what is going out and how much its costs!

Cons

I have found no major flaws with this software - works great on desktop and on my phone! Any challenge I have faced was solved immediately with a call or email to support

I like that you have all the options mail something. You don't just have to use priority like USPS.com. We were able to save about $3 on each shipment we send without sacrificing time. Having multiple users also allows our team to each have a handle on what's going on with shipments and update as needed, even if we're not all in the same office. Doing returns is super simple too and creating our own labels to send to customers is quick and easy too.

Cons

It was a little hard to figure out how to add more funds or get set up to start shipping initially. But once everything was done it was smooth ever since.

This is the third shipping platform I've used for my small business and I will never have to look around again! ShipStation is incredibly easy to setup and use. Their support team is AMAZING! The level of store customization is amazing.

Cons

I'm completely content with the software and the pricing options. I have been having some issues with the ShipStation Connect and printing to my thermal label, but I know a quick call to support will quickly resolve.

The UI is easy enough to understand. There are little touches that make data entry easier, such as auto-parser from a paragraph of text containing the address. Its integration with Shopify works seamlessly.

Cons

There is some functionality we don't use, such as its inventory management. That's because our inventory needs are more custom than what Shipstation provides for.

Since installing ShipStation we have saved thousands of hours for our staff. We also have become a lot more accurate since we no longer have to type in addresses. It allows users to take us a couple days to get each order imported into our POS software, picked, packaged, processed through the POS and then taken to another mail facility to mail. Since we transitioned to ShipStation, we process and ship most orders withing 24 hours. We had one order that we were able to get in ShipStation, pick, and process. The customer had their tracking number and the package was in the mail within 7 minutes of the customer placing the order.

Cons

The only downside is that ShipStation connect has to be run every morning to let the printers and labels connect, I wish the software had the ability to start on startup.

The best part of ShipStation is the easy of selecting an order and fulfilling the shipping with in minutes. It's also nice that it is connected to my website so it marks the order fulfilled once I print the label.

Cons

I dont know if it is a feature but it would be nice to set up shipments for specific items before they are purchased to make the process that much more quick.

Before ship station I was wasting at least a half hour driving down to the USPS post office several times a week. This made it very hard to promote my side business since this was such a hassle. Now I love getting orders and setting them in the mailbox. Super quick and they allow me to print both packing slips and the labels within minutes.

Cons

I'm slightly discouraged by the increase of pricing as my business grows. It's very helpful to be able to ship from home.

My fiance and I started a small fine art company. One of our biggest hurdles was finding the appropriate shipping interface that met our needs. Ship station did just that. Their Rate Calculator gives you an overview of all the possible rates you can pay for a specific package. Their customization options are phenomenal, ranging from modifying shipping labels with or without logos, thank you message, packing slips, order summaries, and client notification templates that provide all the information the client needs regarding their package are all what makes shipstation amazing. There are too many to name!

Also, their customer service was super helpful for whatever our needs were. They were always quick about finding solutions to problems, most importantly, our customer service rep treated us like people and not just an account number. ShipStation meets all our needs and continues to excel our expectations! We highly recommend this company. Additionally, their set was a breeze and had no problems finding a compatible label printer. Amazing. It's totallly worth it's price.

Cons

There aren't many that we can think of. However, any of the issues that we did bump into were quickly resolved by our rep. One thing I can think of that does arise often is printer settings. It seems that ShipStation Connect (which enables your printers to be used with this web browser interface) tends to glitch often. Nothing a quick little restart won't solve.

It is easy to use and its almost like having an employee 24/7 at a low monthly price. Customer service is great and they take the time to actually walk you through any issues you might have.
