AdvancedMD is an integrated medical software suite for independent practices. Features include practice management, electronic health records, patient engagement, telemedicine, rooming, reputation management, financial analytics and business intelligence reporting that all work together to automate practice workflow.

Mobile users can work on the iPhone and iPad. The cloud platform enables anywhere access and the highest levels of data security available. AdvancedMD is browser agnostic for Mac and Windows operating systems and runs on nearly any device.

Integrated workflow automates the patient journey, starting with self-scheduling onsite or telemedicine appointments. Appointment reminders can be sent to patients via text or email. Insurance eligibility verification for next-day patients runs automatically and alerts staff of potential issues. Consent forms are sent through a patient portal and collected into the patient chart. Rooming helps manage patient flow. Charting and prescriptions can be done from anywhere. Charge capture occurs during the charting process without billing staff needing to copy or paste.

The 1 on 1 training staff are VERY pleasant to speak with and helpful being very knowledgeable about the product and always willing to help.

Pros

It is extremely versatile with the different modules to be implemented which can make it very customizable to your needs. The system creates a steady and productive workflow.

Cons

While the modules are wide in use and availability it can get pretty costly to implement everything you may need/want. The workflow is steady and productive but it takes a lot of devoted time to get the system set up and customized the way you want it to create that workflow.

Pros

software/portal relatively easy to use. As long as you deal with the portal/software only you are safe. If you need any human help/assistance they show their true color.

Cons

Due to their lack of accountability and integrity, I was forced to terminate their service. The company does not show any regards for their customer. They completely went back on their agreement and thereby putting my practice in a great deal of stress and financial loss.

It can do everything we need it to do to keep our new clinic on track, accountable, and transparent.

Cons

It is very expensive and for a new clinic the setup fee almost choked me; but if it continues to do what we need then the cost will be worth it.

The software works well with a multi office clinic.

Pros

The EHR side of the system is great for customization of Medical Documents. After testing several EHR systems, we were able to implement an EHR product that used the same work flow as a paper chart. The PM side of the product is great for scheduling and A/R workflow capabilities works well for our office staff.

Cons

The system has periods of slowness. The support team is not always as helpful as required to get an issue resolved.

Pros

The program has a great deal of options for reporting; if you can find it! The clearinghouse option is our favorite thing because we are able to check claim statuses almost immediately, but the extremely poor quality service and hidden costs of the program detract from the good qualities in the program itself.

Cons

Customer service is non-existent. The daily calls and e-mails we received while considering this program should've been a warning to us, but instead, I thought we were getting a great service provider and product. We didn't get that at all. Instead, we got "self-serve" training, no responses to e-mails or calls with questions once we started the system, promises that were not kept, and a headache from making multiple attempts just to get basic tasks completed. We've been with the company 6 months and it's the worst business decision I've ever made. I feel as though I've let my company down because there HAS to be something better than this out there.

Nothing Advanced about AdvancedMD

Move on. Sales tactics are more suitable at a used car lot. That deal that expires at the end of business hasn't changed in a year. Don't fall for it and demand a trial live. Save yourself the time this product has no value today.

Pros

Excellent help files though many are for previous version of product and need updating and in the end they are help for an inferior product.

Cons

There is no EHR. Don't be fooled by cartoon demos on video. Its actually just a word merge system build on Word 97 which you need to even update a template. It takes hours of tedious work on MS Word to move anything to a presentable format. Sales will tell you it does everything you need. Don't believe me or them, ask for a live trial and see for yourself. You wont get one, if they let anyone try it they would have no sales.

For the most part, you get what you put into it. The process is not simple and this program should only be chosen if you have experence in billing software. It is working better now but it has taken four months to get it to this point. I would only recommend this product to meical offices who have used other billing software program.

Pros

The product is designed well but it is a complicated product compared to others. The customer support is caring but they just cant fix everything quickly. They have a good platform for billing but the person billing needs to have some experience. We found that this program is fine for experienced offices.

Cons

The biggest challenge was working out all the bugs in the system. It did not go as quickly as the sales process indicated. We needed to stick with it to get this platform to work for us.

NOT for the solo or small practice. System is geared toward an already up and running clinic of the BigBox Medicine genre. Despite advertising stills, it is not optimized for Mac (a less vulnerable system for data breach). Despite advertising stills, AMD still does not allow patients to make their own appointments & do their own data entry.

Pros

One or two of the options allow the practice owner/mgr to see a particular patient’s appts, self-payments & insurance payments.

Cons

Requires an already trained, fully functional front office staff to do all data entry, requires constant oversight to reduce errors of data entry.

Advancedmd- Switch from Practice Fusion

It is a bit overwhelming to switch over to a product like this, but I think is well worth the effort in the long run. The support and training teams have been excellent and very responsive. They gave me a very low price /month as a solo practitioner, since I won't be using a lot of it's more advanced features.

Pros

Price point very competitive, especially for a solo practice
Combines EHR and complete Practice Management/Billing software- fully integrated with clearinghouse
Support and training are excellent and VERY comprehensive. Lots of videos to watch plus 10 hours 1:1 with a trainer. If you are a solo practitioner, it is possible to use this program yourself and not have any staff.
Mobile APP for iphone/ipad is excellent. Very easy to schedule a patient on the fly, register a new patient, etc. with an iphone.
They offer a credit card billing module that works great with co-payments.

Cons

There is a substantial learning curve. The product is well designed and very complex- what medical record/billing system isn't. I have used Medisoft for years and had Practice Fusion as a separate EHR. Combining the two should save a fair amount of money and time. Everything is in the cloud (is this better or not?). The training is extensive and very good, but there are 100's of features in this program. It is really made for an office with several MD's, nurses, front staff, etc., but you can have the program custom set up for one user and not use a lot of the features (such as check-in, check-out, auditing accounts, etc.)

I would still purchase AdvancedMD. I would just go slower and be more diligent about understanding everything

Pros

Great EHR so far. I've only been using it a short time. Better than Misys, Cerner, ECW, Elipse. Not as good as epic (but a lot cheaper). They seem to have put a good amount of investment into development.

Cons

There are some beta functions so somethings don't work like they say but this will obviously get better as they work on it. I'm not worried about that.

Major con had to do with the disconnect between the sales team and the implementation team. I bought my EHR during a "fire sale." They definitely rushed me and it was my decision to go forward. In doing so, there was definitely some miscommunication. I would ask LOTS of questions about training. They consider understanding your needs in the office as training time...I get it but that was not made clear to me. Long story short, ask a lot of questions. I don't think they were purposely misleading, i just think they know more (and therefore assume others know) about their product. I also had some communication problems with our first PM trainer but his supervisor was communicative and attached us to another trainer right away.

Robust but custom report is painful

Very detailed and every module is designed keeping the provider need in mind and to provide powerful case management and billing functionality

Cons

Custom Report is very powerful tool provided to build reports. However, denials codes, remarks codes when tied with the claim, duplicates as it captures all transaction/insurance responses and should tie the recent insurance response only by default. There is no way to filter or apply rule to resolve the said issue and makes is very difficult to perform denial management. Default denial reports are anyways no match or provides freedom to add required headers/information.

Additionally a single claim cannot be re-billed as a claim and has to be performed CPT wise for each claim and can be made easy. Customer Support is unable to understand the request and acknowledge/honor the improvement required.
Otherwise AdvMD is comparatively is well designed and has huge potential if constantly developed.

I love the referral/prior auth tracing, the fact that you can easily find the next open appointment time for a provider, you can easily track No Show and Late Cancelations, plus it has a report I can run to make sure I have billed for all of the visits on the schedule. I used to have to track that manually and that took hours. AMD Scheduler has saved me at least 15 hours per week! And that is just me, other staff in my office have saved time with that too. Think about it, how much would you pay just your biller for 15 hours per week on tracking that they could be spending on AR Follow up? That is money in your pocket.

Pros

I like most that it will track your prior auth/referral visits so you know when you need a new one. It has cut our denials down immensely and freed up at least 10 hours per week of having to manually track those visits.

Cons

The auth/referral tracker also includes "No Show" visits so the count of visits used is not 100% accurate. But at least it makes it so you end up getting a new auth a little sooner so not much harm done.

Cloud based in house billing, insurance eligibility checks on each patient that comes in and it can be set up to be run before patient ever walks through the door, easy back end work on denied claims, and reasonably priced availability to send out patient bills

Pros

Easy for new medical billers to learn, easy for established medical billers to learn, quality one on ones to learn, instruction videos are very helpful, customer/tech support does their job very well, only had system go down once in 2 years and it was very brief and emails were sent to inform of outage, can add features that fit your practice

Cons

sometimes on hold to get through to tech/customer service for an extended period (once you are through they answer all your questions and give you undivided attention, some desired features that should be included cost extra, changing some services that were once included to pay for each time.

It's super customizable and it's aesthetically pleasing to the eye. It also is web-based which makes working from different locations easier.

Cons

Right off the bat it is pretty obvious that this software was not built for speciality and/or large clinics. Within the first few days of using it, I have already found a few workflow options that literally make no sense at all. I was told by an AdvancedMD staff member that I should have no reason to go into the chart if I don't want to start a note....as though physicians and staff members never look at a patient's chart outside of their visit? They also praise it's great customizable templates but fail to mention that they're barely useable and will need constant work to make them printable for other offices or referrals. The fact that you also can't open a patient's chart from the scheduler is bizarre. The company sold us on their new "Beta" system but it has so many glitches that it's almost unusable.

The software is very easy to use. I started using it when I first started the company I am with part time and it was very easy to catch on and learn to manever it.

Cons

The log on process takes a little long for me. It is time consuming when you have a patient on the phone waiting for an appointment but it wont come up on the computer in time.

Pros

The ease in scheduling and rescheduling patients. In EHR, I like that you can find a patient by first or last name, DOB, etc.

Cons

The amount of keystrokes it takes to do payments and receipts. Since the change in ownership seems that the entire system has slowed down and the weekly changes do not help that.

Better productivity

Pros

The Claims Center is an awesome feature. Scrubbing for various errors before claims are sent out. Also, easily determining if a claims batch failed during transmission.

Cons

I have no dislikes with this software. Perhaps there are some things which could be simplified; however no product is 100% perfect and AdvancedMD is constantly doing updates with improvements.

The ease and accuracy of sending clean claims out and the speed of getting payments in from the payers.

Pros

The training and the follow up was outstanding. The trainer was very patient and helpful taking us through each step of the process. The Support Team has been outstanding with answering those questions that come up.

Cons

Nothing. We've been very satisfied. This is the fourth practice management software I have used over the past 12 years and I have not had any of the issues we have encountered in the past with other systems.

No major commitments, easy usage and all inclusive support.

Pros

I like how user-friendly the system is. Our clients are able to use the software with greatest of ease. I do enjoy the updates that are made frequently to add features that clients, such as myself, have suggested to AdvancedMD.

Cons

AdvancedMD has a decent reporting module, but can have an even more robust mechanism for additional fees. This is frustrating since the fee is a monthly fee per billable provider. So, for reporting that may not be day-to-day, the cost over shadows the benefits by a long shot.

Love the scrubbing feature. The HELP feature is very detailed. The "Demand Claim" update feature makes this process much faster/easier.

Cons

Doesn't print the back of the claim. Not being able to to EDIT a UB04. When patient's insurance has been updated the information is not updated in the claim line.

All inclusive with payer clearinghouse and edi enrollments go very smooth. We are a CBO, we have the ability to work all of our clients from one key, excellent feature for efficiency.

Cons

Nickel and dime you on the costs, watch for the extra's they all cost something. Now that we signed the contract it's very difficult to get our sales person to respond in a timely manor (Chris Larsen).

I like the fax feature we have. Before I would have to print out each item in the chart to manually fax out a patients medical records. Now it's easy to fax out medical records from the patients chart.

Cons

its not user friendly to learn how to use. It is a product that needs a training session with a trainer from Advanced EHR to come to the office and train the staff.

Posting payments from the "quick pay" screen. It is nice to know which patient was "last" posted, when I have to leave that screen. For the most part, the adjustments are automatically done, but occasionally I run into a problem with the adjustment not being done.

Cons

The reporting system lacks. To start with, I would like to be able to run a patient list report by CARRIER. This would allow me to see which patients are covered under which carriers. This would be especially helpful in the event (and it has happened), that we no longer participate with a particular carrier.

I like the reports, I like the scheduler. Our practice runs efficiently because of this software.

Pros

Easy to use once you learn it. New things come out all the time that enhances the functionality of the software.

Cons

Having to watch videos to learn
Sometimes support is not eager to log into your system to assist, even when you have done everything possible before you make the phone call to support
