# Churchteams User Reviews

## Reviews summary

- Overall rating: 4.6/5
- Total reviews: 471

### Secondary ratings

- Ease of use: 4.3/5
- Customer support: 4.8/5
- Value for money: 4.7/5
- Functionality: 4.4/5

### Rating distribution

- 5 stars: 306 reviews (65%)
- 4 stars: 140 reviews (30%)
- 3 stars: 20 reviews (4%)
- 2 stars: 5 reviews (1%)
- 1 star: 0 reviews (0%)

### Most mentioned pros

- Churchteams really understands the needs of churches, so their insights open up new vistas of planning, scheduling volunteers, checking in kids, etc. that some smaller churches (like ours) had been doing using a variety of systems.
- Ease of integration and use for others on the team.
- I love that the team is always willing to help you figure out how to do something if you don't know. If the software can't do it, they take suggestions and implement many of them pretty quickly.

### Most mentioned cons

- Also, the inability to have sub-drop down menus that automatically pop up after a selection from another drop down menu is very frustrating.
- Incredibly difficult for lay leadership to use; the design for the system is almost archaic for 2022.

It has been very good!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

It is helping in assimilation at our church much better than we were doing.

#### Cons

It is very different from the system we were using. The old system was very basic and simple. I am not a good tech person and I was having difficulty navigating all the features this software had to offer. One thing that we really are missing is a generalized calendar to put all of our church events on. I know there are many out there, but it was nice using the calendar all in the same place one is doing all the other church system stuff in.

#### Reasons for choosing Churchteams

The features were built our better and you email template platform was much better than CCM.

#### Reasons for switching to Churchteams

I think CT will help is in the long term at RockPoint. It presented advanced things that Breeze just didn't have yet.

#### Vendor response

Thanks for doing this review Kenneth. Here are our current thoughts about use of Calendars if that's helpful. But, we do have this on our list to further consider at some point. https://blog.churchteams.com/3-problems-calendars-help-solve Thanks.

I've been a church secretary and worked with 5 different church programs and this is by far the best easiest and most convenient and efficient program I've ever used. Promotion Sunday is this week and it's a breeze using Church Teams. The customer support is absolutely the best if we need anything at all. I highly recommend this company/software!

Excellent. They are a key member of my team.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Relatively easy to learn. Group/event registration is easy and very useful for our church. Customer service is the BEST!!! Quick and a live human who speaks english like i do is ready to talk if needed.

#### Cons

Some features aren't intuitively realized by onscreen options/interface.

#### Reasons for choosing Churchteams

Cost, features and mostly CUSTOMER SERVICE. As a small church with mostly volunteers, i don't have an I.T. person who supports our team. CT does that for us. When a new person has questions, they're eager to bring 'em up to speed.

#### Reasons for switching to Churchteams

Cost and HORRIBLE customer service - like they were doing us a favor by taking our call....if they ever would take our call. Almost NO live human support with CCB

#### Vendor response

I'm really slow on this, Chad, but thanks for doing this review! I really appreciate it.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5

I like the forward thinking toward the next advancement in the software. It started years ago with small group reminder emails for attendance and prayer requests. Now they have added features such as text to give, all check, etc.

#### Cons

It can be a little clunky on the backend until you are used to using it.

#### Reasons for choosing Churchteams

We were already familiar with it because we used it for our small groups.

#### Reasons for switching to Churchteams

Servant Keeper was not web based and did not meet our growing needs.

We are so thankful for Churchteams. We keep much more accurate records now and have much better communication. Sign-ups for events is a very handy feature that we use often.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

We love the ability to schedule people for serving and have the system automatically text them reminders about their scheduled service. It’s also handy to keep track of life group attendances. We also send emails to specific groups and use the group registration feature for special events and outreach opportunities. The teen leaders use the text communication to let parents know if an activity is running late. We use check-In and label printing for VBS and for our community soccer and basketball leagues. We also like the pricing that included unlimited numbers of groups.

#### Cons

It feels very database-ish in its design. It is a database, so it still works for us. Some features are hard to understand at first, but we did some live online classes at the beginning to better understand processes.

#### Reasons for choosing Churchteams

The pricing seemed best and some of the functionality was more suited to what we needed.

#### Vendor response

Hi Melanie, Thanks for doing this review. We really appreciate it and the opportunity to serve you guys. Blessings, Boyd

We needed to have a means for team directors to communicate to leaders and within the team. Churchteams allows this. We also needed a means for easy access by users and the texting option and emails with Churchteams allows this.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Communication is key. The texting options, reminder emails and texts, reports to review attendance, volunteer scheduling, and communicating between teams is awesome

#### Cons

Not necessarily things I like least. Some suggestions are block out dates for volunteer scheduling and having a Calendar built into ChurchTeams for events. Highly recommend ChurchTeams.

#### Reasons for choosing Churchteams

The other option was too complex and involved for what we needed, did not have the texting option as we needed it, and was too expensive.

#### Reasons for switching to Churchteams

Needed an option that people would actually use. An option where people did not need to log in, but could use a quick access, such as texting.

#### Vendor response

Thanks for the review, Nikole. I really appreciate it.

Church teams is the second church system we have utilized,. The first was strictly for youth purposes while church teams is useful for the entire church. It is very user friendly, as I am not a computer savy person. I am continually learning how to best use the system to meet our needs and to make life a little easier for everyone.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

The thing I like the most about church teams is that they are continually adding, tweaking and updating features to the system. When they do make a change or update they communicate how to utilize the new addition.

#### Cons

That text to church is an extra fee, however I do understand that.

#### Reasons for choosing Churchteams

Planning Center was created specifically to plan the service and then branched out to include check in. At first glance it was not intuitive so I did not want to spend anymore time trying to figure it out.

#### Vendor response

Way to go, diving in there to learn the software, Melissa. You are a blessing to your church. Let us know any way we can be a blessing to you. Thanks for the Capterra Review.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

The Small Groups features are fantastic. From automated attendance reports to website integration, ChurchTeams has been helpful in our small groups ministry.

#### Cons

There are so many other features that we don’t use because the rest of our team would have to switch platforms. Maybe a tier based subscription would be nice for those like me who do not use all the features available.

#### Reasons for choosing Churchteams

The small groups features met our needs for the price.

#### Vendor response

Hi Anthony, I'm really slow responding to this, but better late than never. Thanks for the great review. When we thought about pricing, we opted to keep it simple with everything for the one price. That way your not nickel and dimed for every feature. But, we also wanted to be affordable so that our pricing could be compared to the high end of single or double feature pricing in the modular based systems. We love serving you guys. Thanks, Boyd

### The Good, The Bad, and the Not So Ugly!

Overall I have been very happy with CT. Most of the problems I encounter are people problems, not problems with the software. Your customer service is extremely good.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I am responsible for all the Accounts Receivable in our Church. CT has made the part of my job very easy. It is very simple to enter information as well as make necessary changes. The end of year giving process is very nice and I particularly love the webinars you have each year to go over that process. It really helps to refresh me on what to do as well as go over any features I might have missed or that are new. The feature that has brought me the most happiness was to add check recording/storage to CT when using a scanner. Thank you for that. I really have benefited from your webinars. Those have been the most helpful tool I have used.

#### Cons

Other than the Financial permissions, there does not seem to be a lot of difference between the different levels. Having people update their own information has been a challenge. Because they do not understand how databases work they end up changing their contact information when it has not been changed. I also wish it was harder for people to create new records for themselves as a couple instead of an individual. For example: Instead of entering "John Smith" then "Sue Smith" they will enter "John and Sue" as the first name and "Smith" as the last name. Then I have to go in and separate, then merge them. I'm sure this is not specific to CT but to databases in general.

#### Reasons for choosing Churchteams

Price, features, the online check in, online giving, text to register and give. The idea of creating workflows to better assimilate new people, or those that are not really involved.

#### Reasons for switching to Churchteams

We had an expired version of SK, and therefore we had no support. Several of our pastors were at a conference and Churchteams was introduced. They were very impressed and knowing that we needed to upgrade they decided to go with CT.

#### Vendor response

Thank you, Sue, for this nice review. I'm going to bounce the "John and Sue" issue off our dev team for their consideration.

### Pastor Assistant - main user of Churchteams

So the most incredible experience I had with tech support was a time that I totally messed up our online giving - in fact, I single handedly cancelled all ability of any transactions going through. This was something that was ENTIRELY my fault and could have cost our church thousands of dollars in offerings. I realized that this was a major problem on a Saturday afternoon. I put in an emergency call, and believe it or not, the owner of the company called me back and interrupted his dinner at a restaurant to make phone calls and pull in favors so that our online giving was up and running by Sunday morning. Loving my Churchteams!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I am the pastoral assistant for a church with weekly attendance of about 800, and a database of 6063. We have been using Churchteams for more than five years. When I came on staff, Churchteams was set up, but there was no one to train me. I learned the program by watching the tutorials, and having tech support on speed dial. The program itself is very intuitive if you have minimal database skills. The most amazing part of Churchteams is their amazing tech support. They were always cheerful and very helpful with even the most basic questions that I had as a new user. When I left phone messages, they were always (yes, always) returned the same day or the next. It meets all the needs of a church of our size. We use it for general database uses and mailings, scheduling volunteers with reminder texts, all of our giving including text-to-give, check in for kids and teens, keeping track of membership and our membership classes, and small groups.

#### Cons

Our website guy would like it if the links could be totally customized so it doesn't look like people are leaving our website when doing online giving or small group sign-ups.

#### Vendor response

Thanks Rory. I was a pastor for a couple of decades and know about emergency calls. We try to operate our company with that same love and concern. Thanks for trusting us to help you serve your people. That's what it's all about. Boyd

### Churchteams: Bare Bones but Affordable

Churchteams' customer service was fantastic. It was also the most affordable option for us at the time. However, a poor (bare-bones) design made it "seem" less professional. Perception is often reality, unfortunately.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

Customer service was great with ChurchTeams. Their team went above and beyond with all of our requests, even praying with our office managers on the phone and asking about their lives. Of course, that has little to do with the actual software, but it is and added bonus. Churchteams is a bare-bones option for small and medium-sized churches looking to establish a database. Because of limited interface design, it's fairly easy to navigate.

#### Cons

Presentation was not at all impressive. The usability was limited because of this, in my opinion. To some, being pleasing to the eye isn't important, but we found it to be a drawback. Bad design makes people not want to use it as much as good design does. It's a fine line, but an important one.

#### Vendor response

Hi Daniel, Thank you for the review. Working on our User Interface is a priority for us currently. Our priority in development has been User Experience which is why we've focused on Text-to-Church and "responsive access". The result is software that you average guest, member, leader and volunteer use by simply clicking a link in an email or text and they are doing whatever you want them to do. So, for them, UI is not as relevant as UX. The outward facing pieces of the software like Online Giving, Check-in, Volunteer Scheduling, Event Registrations do have a really nice UI and the rest of the system is coming along. As far as size is concerned, our larger churches of several thousand attendees actually prefer the UX reliability and feature richness. And, especially, thank you very much for affirmation about our #1 value of serving churches as we would want to be served.

I oversee most of the ministries in our church and churchteams has made managing all of those groups a breeze. Can't imagine going back to a life without this management software!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Churchteams is very user friendly and intuitive. Great for every aspect of managing groups including sign-ups, attendance, reports, follow-up, scheduling volunteers w/built in reminders and so much more! Very helpful in tracking an individual's involvement and spiritual growth indicators. As an added bonus, we recently began using their online giving feature which is less expensive than our previous provider. It has streamlined our book keeping process and made registering and paying for church events an easy one stop process. All that being said, the Churchteams feature I most appreciate is their support team. Very friendly, knowledgeable people who are super responsive - always get an email or call back within 24 hrs. and usually much sooner.

#### Cons

Technology and I don't normally get along very well and there have been some instances where I had some difficulty running a report I needed. The nice thing about churchteams, however, is that in the few instances where I've run into that issue, I just contacted support and they ran the report I needed for me and then took the time to explain how I could do it myself the next time. Probably will not be an issue at all for someone who knows their way around a computer.

#### Vendor response

Thanks Mario! What a great review. I pray it will be helpful to other people reading it. It is a pleasure serving you guys. We appreciate you taking a few moments to do this. Boyd

We switched from a well known expensive program that was just too difficult to use with limited customer service. We have been very pleased with our Church teams experience. The program is limited in some areas but the cost makes up for that in a big way! It does everything we need it to do. The customer service is the best. The Team really tries to help. I sent an email to service late on a saturday night and received a reply that night with the answer I needed. That is impressive. I like that you are always improving the product as well.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

Churchteams is a great value for the price. It does everything you need at a fraction of the cost of other church management software. The customer service it FABULOUS! Cannot say enough about the high level of attentive service the team gives.

#### Cons

The interface is very limiting. The look on the website interface is basic and not able to custmize as much as we would like. You can do it but the process is hard it does not embed into our website template and is clunky. This all may be a lack of knowledge issue. Our biggest problem has bee n in the program timinig out on Sundays. We have talked with support and we still have the issue.

Our experience as a church has been very positive. The software has been well received by our small group leaders and assures us that they give us weekly attendance reports. The report function is also very useful to understand certain metrics about our church.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Churchteams has made it very easy for us to track what is happening in the church including small group involvement, Sunday attendance, offerings, etc. Over the years Churchteams has become a powerful tool to help us manage our church membership and understand how people are involved in the church.

#### Cons

I have very few cons. As the functionality of the software has grown and the many options it provides, at times it can be a little difficult to find out where certain settings are. This is a minor problem considering all that the software can do for your organization.

#### Reasons for choosing Churchteams

At the time we were looking for a solution to get better reporting on our small groups. Churchteams did that very well and gave us many other additional tools helpful in managing church membership.

#### Reasons for switching to Churchteams

The software we were using was not staying up with current advancements in functionality and visual appeal.

### Best Church Software I've Ever Used

When I first started using ChurchTeams, I was a small group pastor with no assistant or administrative help. When we launched 103 groups that was a lot of data to potential have to input. Considering I wore several hats in our church, it would have been impossible. By sending our group leaders a link to ChurchTeams database, they set up their own groups, populated their rosters, then completely weekly reports online about their group members. It was a life saver. In Group Connection environments where groups leaders meet prospective group members, the mapping feature has been extremely helpful for prospective group members to see which groups are near them. I could go on and on. I have nothing bad to say about this product.

- Ease of use: 5/5

- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

ChurchTeams has an intuitive interface. It is mobile friendly. The fact that volunteers can access their groups from anywhere is a huge plus. Removes the centralized administrative tasks that most church databases require. It provides both high security and usability. I have used this product since 2004 when it started as a small groups database. Now, ChurchTeams can do everything. The staff is polite and very responsive. You can pick up the phone and call the President of the company if you need to! They are always learning and improving. Always open to suggestions. I highly recommend ChurchTeams. It's affordable, efficient, and safe. As we say in the South: "Dumb if you don't!"

#### Vendor response

Thanks Allen. You are too kind. I would just add that you were very helpful in our thinking about refining development back then to better serve small group ministries. Boyd

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

We love Churchteams. It is user friendly. Support is easy to get and they work hard to solve any issues and even make upgrades for things we would like to have.

#### Cons

Whenever we would like an added feature we let Churchteams know. They have made changes for us and others that are definitely improvements. There are no Cons.

#### Reasons for switching to Churchteams

Roll Call wasn't giving us what we needed and didn't have the features we wanted.

#### Vendor response

Thank you, Tarah, for this nice review. It's a privilege to serve you guys.

Church Directory feature could be greatly enhanced. Would love to have a picture search feature. Maybe be able to scroll through pics and find somebody by their picture. Would especially help with new comers to the church.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

We use it for scheduling and for children's ministries check in mostly. I love the scheduling feature. We use it to schedule payroll reminders, leadership (worship team, finance, etc) team reminders. It saves us having to remember to send out reminders to meetings. Children's ministries check in is working great. We can use multiple tablets to allow several points of check-in.

#### Cons

Directory feature could be improved. People would like to access directory info easier. It just seems cumbersome. Not designed as a church directory. We'd like to have this feature expanded. It would be great if a thumbnail of pictures were displayed so you could click on a face and find out who it was, etc.

#### Vendor response

Thanks for the kind review. There is a read-only directory link under settings / website integration that you can give people with a single, common password. It is searchable and includes pictures and the information you want to include. Call or email for help if you would like. Blessings, Boyd

### An awesome tool that allows leaders access in the palm of their hands!

I first started with churchteams.com as we were looking for a way to have a church database available to all our leaders from anywhere. In addition to being able to track our discipleship progress with individuals, we are now able to track giving AND we can access this from the palm of our hand on any smart phone or tablet. Boyd has a real heart for the kingdom and is constantly tweaking the program to make it easier and better to use. Thus far churchteams.com is better than any other software we've tried out. And we've tried most of them. In addition its perfect for brand new church start ups. You can track prospects, email them, text them, or generate mailing labels with the click of a button! A lot of people are paying extra for emailing programs, or text messaging systems - churchteams.com handles all that for you! No need to learn multiple systems! Pricing is related to your church strength and questions or difficulties are usually handled the same day! Churchteams.com took over 5 systems and software we were previously using and it does it better! I love the new automated reminders that go out to volunteers one week ahead of their service and the day before! All I can say is TRY IT YOU'LL LOVE IT!

Access anywhere anytime. Grows with your organization. Does automation of the most tedious things.

#### Cons

Learning curve, but that the case with any new software.

#### Vendor response

Awesome review, Keith. So glad we were able to help you pull your data under one umbrella. Thanks, Boyd

#### Pros

Church teams has so many features that we use in our ministry.

#### Cons

I really like all of it. It would be great to have built in financial software like Church Trac has come out with.

#### Vendor response

We appreciate the privilege of serving you guys, Rick. Contributions has to be in a ChMS because of individual data integration. But we don't really have accounting (ledger, payroll, budgets, P/Ls, etc.) on our roadmap. When I was a church admin I had both QB and one of the early church accounting systems. QB was so much easier for our finance team (business volunteers) and auditors (CPAs) to use because of familiarity. The ChMS version regularly required support to get what the teams expected. There is such a limited overlap of data (just fund details for each deposit) that the ease of use for volunteers trumped integration in my mind. I'd love your thoughts though.

A few years ago I was exploring options for updating our church management software... we were in need of additional functionality, but the provider we had at the time wanted us to pay a premium price for every add on that I needed, including support! When I spoke with the representatives from Churchteams and they told me that one price includes all of the functionality that I needed, and our pricing was based on the size of our church, I knew I was finally talking to a company that understands what it takes to run a church. Their staff is very friendly and responsive, and I have had a great experience any time that I have reached out with questions or for support. Another great thing is that they are constantly making improvements to their product, and they are open to feedback about the changing needs of ministries. Churchteams is easy to set up, easy to use, and they can support churches of almost any size. When I look at the value of the product that I am getting in relation to the pricing, this is probably one of the most church-friendly companies that I have ever discovered. I am a very satisfied customer, and I highly recommend Churchteams as a church management and database solution!

Churchteams has been fantastic for communication, groups, check in and volunteers.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I like that everything is one place for communication, groups, check in and volunteers. Also their support team is amazing!

#### Cons

The giving/ financial side, it cost more than other ones and so we are using a different online giving platform.

#### Reasons for switching to Churchteams

Price and ease of use.

#### Vendor response

Thank you for the review Loren. If you want to pull your online giving into Churchteams, let us know and we'll work with you to figure out how to make it work. Typically, we are much less expensive than competitors. But, you do have to look at all aspects of the online giving pricing models. They can be confusing. Plus, we added a feature to let givers cover the fees themselves which people are loving.
