As an estimator, managing takeoffs for every project while working under tight deadlines can be challenging and stressful. It is essential to thoroughly review every section of the plans to ensure nothing is overlooked when preparing proposals. Since implementing Beam AI at our company, we have been able to reduce the time spend on projects by nearly half. While there are still some bugs, questions and areas for improvement that we continue to work through with the Beam AI team, the overall experience has been very positive. The team was responsive to questions and receptive to feedback during the project. Deliverables were organized and easy to follow, and quantities for wall framing / floor and roof systems / sheathing / hardware were laid out in a way that made it straightforward for us to review, price, and build our estimate. Having an outside team handle the initial quantity work freed up our time for pricing, scope review, and bid strategy. #### Cons There were still some items missed and some incorrect quantities in the takeoffs. As we all know, plan sets at the early stage are often incomplete, which requires an estimator to think beyond what is shown and add the necessary material as an assumption to cover both the material and the cost. The Beam AI team produces good work on each project based on what is drawn, but it needs additional effort to look into the details from a real-world framing perspective, rather than relying only on the early-stage plan set. I don't think there is anything we requested that they weren't able to do. They have broken out projects by unit type, differentiated millwork areas where so we can add/remove flooring if needed, and a whole host of other things. #### Cons It is a bit more challenging to do breakouts and make changes than doing a takeoff on your own. The program can do breakouts, but often times these areas change or need some fine tuning due to changes in plans.
