BuildIT is a cloud-based construction management solution for small and midsize businesses. Primary features include construction scheduling, contact management, job allocation, appointment management, document library, email and notes, schedule templates and user permissions.
The construction scheduling module offers Gantt charts, calendar and list views for tracking projects. Users can reschedule, share and assign tasks online. The schedule templates provide preloaded and custom schedule templates to the user. Users can schedule new jobs using an existing template. The contacts module provides a central database for contacts, their job allocations, add new contacts, import/export contacts and communicate with them via email, fax, cellular text messages and documents.
It is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems. Support is offered via email and over the phone. Other help options include videos, chat support and on-demand training.

I've been using BuildIT for over 10 years.
It's user friendly and priced right. It simplifies the daily monitoring of our construction schedules.. Those schedules can be copied from templates and modified if needed with BuildIT.
They have a library of documents that helps me save time and are easy to use and share with our sub-contractors and employees. BuildIT can add or modify documents to your needs.
It also gives our sub-contractor access to all the files and tasks related to each jobs. Like working drawings, sketches and changes. They have the option to add notes to the tasks and upload files, inspections reports and more by them selves.
I had an option designed by BuildIT that gives all my sub-contractors access to enter the names and informations of their employees. They can also keep records of the Health and Safety trainings required by law and upload copies of their certificates on BuildIT.
You can set up BuildIT to give full access to every site supervisors, of all the schedules, documents of every jobs under construction. With the links tagged to every sub-contractor's contact info, my site supervisors have access to all their required documents needed on site when having the Ministry of Labour doing site inspections, like, form 1000 and all the required Health ' Safety trainings.
Cust service has always being there to help me when I had issues which was very rare or when they have designed new options for our needs.
BuildIT is designed for smaller contractors. It has a few restrictions when you build between 25 to 80 units a year and have between 2 to 6 different sites going at the same time. Sometimes, I wish I would have a bit more flexibility to do some changes or make some modifications to adapt to my needs as a builder.
But other then that, It works perfect for me.
All that being said, the sub-contractors loves it, my staff loves it and so do I.
I have done a lots of searching and sometimes I even check what is new out there, but I haven' found any other product that is user friendly, affordable and fulfilled our needs like BuildIT.
BuildIT has been and will still be a very important tool for our company for years to go.

The software is intuitive and easy to use. Upgrades throughout the years have been thoughtful and relevant.
The only negative is that each of our users can see the other user's info. But that could be changed if we purchased multiple copies of the software. We do not however wish to do that and do not consider it necessary for the way we use it.

That I have to sign in to reply to emails when I get a notification from build it. I usually never do and I end up replying from my personal email account
I have been using BuildIt as a contractor building 20-30 homes per year. We have a small team and we are able to be on the same page with this software.
There are some advanced features offered by competitors that would be nice, but are ultimately unnecessary for a business of my size.

What I like most about this software is the adaptability it has to make what ever task you need to do, achievable. From various reports, to working documents, to specific scheduling tasks, this tool is very powerful in running a business effectively and efficiently. Buildit Systems is an internet based software, so you can see everything that is going on, at any time, from anywhere you have an internet connection.
Some of our documents have a lot of information, and touch screen options built in them, so it is expected that they will take longer to open and save when updates are made. If those were to speed up, then, there would be nothing I could say that is negative. I really cannot be negative about the speed because of the time it saves filling out those documents, so a small sacrifice really!

Makes my job easier!
It makes sense. It fit's the construction flow. We could set it up for the way we build and it helps us keep track of the progress and not miss a beat! The support staff are so friendly and easy to get ahold of if needed.
This software enables me to keep everything organized within the company. We keep all our files, emails, work orders etc. all on Build-it. This way everyone can access everything whenever they want. Eliminates trying to find old files in a filing cabinet or a box somewhere.
I like the integration of our emails through the software. I also like that it is web based so you can log-in from anywhere that you have internet access. No need to have the program downloaded onto a computer.
I can't say there is anything that I really don't like about the software. There are always some little quirks that some people may not like but nothing that really stands out. I guess the only thing is that it's not available in app format yet, but it is coming soon!
The ease of being able to see where a job is in the build process. Having all the files accessible to the rest of the staff without having to go to a hard file down the hall, that takes to much time. This program has been a huge benefit to our company AND the support team is great to help anytime.
The support team having everything we need to look at on the home screen and being able to customize per users as to what they see on the home screen that makes their job quicker. Each person has the ease of making their screen what they need to see. It is very easy to see what has been ordered, by going into the files, the dashboard is a great addition. Having the ability to add the subcontractor or supplier to the specific task at hand. Making of the templates is very easy to access and complete. We have used it for 5 yrs and it gets better all the time. As is every new program it does come in time but the support team is the best, he is very knowledgeable and they are always trying to improve the program. The company in whole has been very pleased to have all the information at their fingertips. It gives everyone the ability to see exactly where a specific lot is in the building process to update and answer any questions that there buyers might have.
There isn't a phone app, Having the superintendents out in the field, using the online version was a little difficult for them.
You can't take pics from your phone and edit them. It does take some time and dedication to get to know the program as does any other program. It is not easy to edit something once it has been uploaded into the program. if any changes need to be made it does need to be done and then re entered into the program. You can buy an additional program that will do it but it is another expense. Once you get used to using the program it is a great tool for the company.

This is a great program, and the folks that built it really care about my success. You rarely, rarely, find that kind of service in today's electronic market. The product itself is so easy to implement, you can be running a major operation within a day or two, with a very short learning curve. And in the long term, the web-based back up of our data helps me sleep at night. Being able to access what we had scheduled in the past within a minute or two is great. I highly recommend the program.
All of our jobs are small, one man per job and he can do1-3 jobs per day. BuildIt is limitless to how many jobs you put in. The search engine to find job history is fantastic, when a customer has a question. We attach PDFs, photos from the workers in the field (from their cell phones), to the jobs- or to tasks within the job. Many of our jobs are repeat customers, in repeat units. Usually a year or two later. So, to have record of every task completed in every unit we have ever worked in- inclluding who did the work, photos, PDFs of work orders, etc. is fantastic. The system is very easy to use, and finding what you need is very fast. There are usually several ways to find what you are looking for in the records stored in BuildIt. I love that you do not need to run any special software, or have to update anything. I am very mobile- so any computer will work- in a hotel lobby, a relative I might stay with, the library, or these days even my Android phone- from a web browser.
There are some minor limitations because it is web-based, but you learn to work around what may have been comfortable to use in the past. Much of my challenge lies in email. An example is to choose who you are sending to, you must click through the contact list, as apposed to beginning to type in MS Outlook and it auto fills for you. Again, the trade off for the other benefits outweigh web-based program limitations. There is almost always a work around.

Generally very happy with what the system provides.
It is particularly good at handling / sorting emails and job information.
Scheduling is also very good.
File handling is a little less convenient although once on the system it is easy to distribute / share. Not quite so convenient if you need to make changes to that information.

Can be accessed from any machine anywhere.

Support is great and the system keeps being improved.
A little clunky as you have to be careful how you process / handle certain aspects.

This is a great program! When contact integration is built in it WILL be perfect!
Ease of use, templates, email, fax, on line schedule for all subs, after 2 years of use I am still finding all the extra features, EXCELLENT customer support! I have never been asked to purchase any support plan. Works great on a Mac Computer, integrates with Safari just great, monthly pricing and yearly are great and cheap enough to easily work into a budget.
No smartphone integration, (needs import contacts from smart phones i.e. iPhone)
