Loving Materio - just a few minor improvements needed!
Your customer service is exceptional! Thank you! We understand the need to not have a phone number but often feel the ability to quickly explain things is lacking. Since its a new software, we sometime just want to pick up the phone and explain it rather than type and hope you get it. We think you guys are doing an awesome job and need to find a way to get your name out there more!! None of my designer friends know about you guys, but would LOVE you! Here to help however we can - we are big fans!
PROSIt is obvious your team knows the industry and has studied it significantly - kudos to you guys! You have met a serious need in the design world. I can't speak for construction, but as far as the interior design world is concerned, you have met our needs and we will forever be clients of yours. It is visual and intuitive. We understand you are new and will constantly be improving but what we appreciate most is the ability to communicate with your team and the QUICK updates you often integrate based on feedback. The design world has always needed a software that can do it all, all the while being easy enough to understand for clients and for people that are visually driven.
CONSAfter months of use, I still don't understand the estimates vs live projects feature and not sure if/when that would help us. We adopted Materio about halfway through a project - a project that has a very large budget and isn't so attuned to going over or under, just as long as it is justified. I don't need change orders so to speak - just a way to give a "estimated" budget but then if the client chooses a sofa that is $30k more than expected, then it's not a change order, but just a decision and he sees that reflected in the total. I lost sleep once we "invited" our client to see everything because I felt like we couldn't see his settings or fully understand what he saw. We want an easy way to send him furniture options but doesn't need to be notified if he chooses something higher than he initially planned for. He'll be able to see that when he chooses option A or B.Example: Our client expects to spend 2.1 with us for his project. (That is zero construction, just design) (Some of that is time billing, some is furniture, bath hardware, art, etc) He may spend 1.8 with us in the end. A few thousand to him here and there doesn't matter so we want to show him: here is your budget and here is what you have paid us to date and here is what is left. ALL ON ONE PAGE - He has made the comment, he wants to log in quickly and see what kind of liquid cash he needs on hand for the coming months so a "remaining balance" so to speak would help.
Reasons for switching to Materio
Our main accountant has not switched (he still uses IVY) because when I mentioned Materio, he didn't know of you guys. He would love you Materio much more, he just needs to be aware of you. We hate IVY and have been looking for a new product for years and you have met our needs. We have basically been trying you guys out before telling our friends/colleagues/accountant and we definitely will tell them. You guys have been awesome!

Simple to use for interior designers
As an interior designer, staying organized with a million decisions that need to be made is difficult. The organization within Materio has made it easier to get decisions approved and keep the project moving. Working with a residential construction team, it has been difficult to get them on board with using Materio, when they've always worked with pencil and paper. I think the features are there, and Materio is awesome at constantly improving, but the whole team needs to be on board with learning and utilizing the software for it to be optimally efficient.
PROSI like the organization of the scope page and selections page. The checklist when you start a new project is great. I like being able to organize all files and details within each line item. Clients like seeing the scope page with the budget detailed out. The product clipper is great and easy to use. Clients like having a say with the suggestion feature, and being able to comment on individual selections.
CONSI don't love the "open, awaiting approval, confirmed" tabs. This causes confusion for the cilent, when they are expecting to be able to see an item for approval, but I have to send the item and notify them via email each time an item is ready. I think a simpler solution would be to individually turn visibility on each selection on/off, off when you are still working on the item, and on when it's ready for the client to view.

We've loved using Materio & couldn't do our day to day work without it! Thankful for their customer service as well - anything that we've asked as far as development goes, they're on it and within days. Highly recommend this product to any designer or contractor in the biz!
PROSWe find that Materio is a crucial piece of our puzzle. Being a small company that's continuously on the go, it's important for us to stay updated & mobile throughout the day. Materio also provides us with a great end-user experience for our clients: a one-stop shop for everything they need from a bid, to designs, all the way through completion.
CONSWe feel as though Materio has many of the features that we'd need. However, we know that they're working hard to build out their budget/management tools, change order features, etc in order to stay up with the ever changing construction industry.

Great Platform
Great! Materio is such an asset to our team
PROSFrom concept through construction, we are able to keep everything in one place and use the software to communicate to not only our team and our subcontractors, but also our homeowners. Several of our repeat clients have commented how much more user friendly the platform is compared to the previous program we were using. The more familiar I become with Materio, the more we use the software, the better I feel like our team overall is becoming.
CONSThere are a few things that we have noted that have been minor hiccups, but the Materio team has been very responsive and easy to work with on improvements.
Reasons for switching to Materio
We didn't use our previous software to it's full capability and were paying far more per month for a less organized program that did not offer quite as much to our team and our clients.
