The app helps a lot in terms of add-ons. The support teams puts a foot forward to lend in personalized help. Definitely recommend this to everyone looking towards automates.

PROS

This software is very easy to use. It incorporates the use of slides and docs both. The help team is a mail away to have a video call and guide the users through every small step.

CONS

There is no nothing to not like about this software.

Portant Data Merge from Google Workspace/ Google add on.

I have exchanged several e-mails for tech support around my desire to accomplish something that was not included in the original design. My e-mails got live in-person responses. A solution was found and it worked well. While I did not take advantage of an internet meeting, one was offered even before I had really started asking for a feature addition.

PROS

I highly recommend Portant Data Merge. I am using this app to mail merge entries to a scale model contest. The entrant fills out a google form and is automatically emailed a PDF of their customized printable form. I took an opportunity to add an emailed note customized for each entrant through the app. The people at Portant Data Merge were present in-person through e-mail and offered an online live conference. They helped me immensely in getting my spreadsheet to generate a serial QR code that will appear on the contestant's form to make tracking so much easier. The end result is exactly what I wanted and the Portant Data Merge will save me many hours of work. I am working with a free gmail account and I can send many different forms to a maximum of 100 different contacts per day. This suits my needs perfectly. The number of contacts can be increased if you have a higher level gmail account.

CONS

My desire for a serial number printed on a document with a QR requires an extra manual step. Perhaps a future version of the software could make this an operation an included option.

Reason for choosing Portant

Ease of use. I have integrated Google Forms with a Google Sheets response sheet to populate and email entrant registrations forms for people entering my club's model show called HeritageCon 14.

PROS

It's very easy to use and gets the job done quickly.

CONS

Just a minor thing: it was missing a CC field in the automatic emails last time I used the app, but the developer seemed interested in adding that feature so maybe this will be fixed in the future.

The most valuable tool I never knew I needed

Being a marketing professional, my role is part craft, part keeping clients happy. Most of the latter is achieved through high levels of communication, and that requires constant updates across many projects. Portant allows me to takes tonnes of raw data - contacts, PowerPoint files, contracts, invoices etc - and turn them into something useful via their workflows. It's basically automation without the setup labor cost. It was so easy to get started and even understand the advanced features - plus they're highly responsive with their customer service. Couldn't recommend more highly.

PROS

Until I discovered Portant, so many of my MailMerge (and related) functions are work were done either by hand, or by cumbersome combinations of automation technology. This obviously had a high cost associated with it, and my employees found the work menial. Portant took all that and made it streamlined through a single platform. Now we output thousands of documents at a fraction of the time/cost, and my team are much happier that they can spend that time on strategic tasks. The fact that I can onboard any new user in a matter of seconds is a fantastic bonus.

CONS

I know the platform is in its incipient stages, so it would be great to see what's possible with the evolved version. I'd love a native app for my iPad, for instance.

Streak simply had less features.

A versatile tool with a responsive development team.

PROS

I do a lot of mail merging for a non-profit that has over 100 units in Ohio alone. Many of the people that I work with do not have Word, Excel and Outlook, so it becomes problematic sharing templates and teaching them how to generate all of those 20+ some documents that are generated by mail merge. I found a nice addon that can merge from Sheets to Docs, but could not do text boxes so I looked for a way to merge to Slides. I did a search and found a way to write a script, but really didn't want to get into that. Looking in the Market, I found Portant, along with some others. So far, it has worked beautifully. I can merge to text boxes and even rotated or animated text boxes. By resizing the slides, I can generate templates for #10 and #9 envelopes, postcards, and letters. Portant can then export those documents and envelopes as either individual .pdf's or as one large .pdf containing all of the merged documents. Because Portant works on the Google platform, everyone in my organization can have access to the templates since we all use a similarly formatted spreadsheet. In addition, I can easily collaborate in real time, unlike in Word, which can collaborate, but can not do mail merge in the online version.

CONS

This company is less than a year old. They have a great tool, and have been extremely responsive to suggestions for improvements. Right now most of the limitations are related to the Google API limitations, so there are workarounds that can be used.

Reasons for switching to Portant

Each persons needs are unique, so it is possible that another product might be more suitable for others. For me, the ability to merge into a rotated text box is what first drew me to the product. Later I discovered capabilities and uses that even the developers had not considered, such as creating a personalized animated .gif to embed in an email.

Using Portant for custom workplace safety solutions.

Great product and creative people. Fun to work with.

PROS

The key to building effective workplace safety process solutions for small businesses is a digitalization software that integrates with Google Forms and Sheets, supports a digitized paper trail, leverages conditional logic for email triggers that drive processes, and includes a user-friendly, accessible UI that encourages client involvement and creativity. Portant ticks all those boxes.

CONS

There is no perfect software, and at times I have had to use custom script, rather than Portant, to solve functionality issues.

Functionality, price, and most importantly, responsive Portant developement team.

Portant / Google Integration & Automation = Efficient Solution

We were creating externally facing Partner Profiles to share information on capabilities and specialties and generated a simple summary with content blocks using submissions from our Intake Form questionnaire. Once we realized it could also be used in beautiful templates that had a more polished, professional look, we redid them all by simply rerunning the data merge into the new templates... what a huge time saver!

PROS

The ability to solve all our automation needs in one tool. We thought we might need to create a separate form, data merge, template and manually alert people, but this did it all in one. After the setup and testing was complete, we could simply share the intake form and then we were alerted to new entries and could quickly generate a beautiful profile page to share externally.

CONS

Perhaps there could be more guided instructions on how to optimize the tool.

Reason for choosing Portant

The end-to-end automation work flows and simplicity, and primarily its ability to work with Google tools.

Portant use

Efficient program. Very happy using it & have notified my colleagues and others to use it.

PROS

This software has helped my colleagues and I quite a bit in creating final reports, presentations and documents. The process is fast and easy, and most importantly, saves us a lot of time that we can now use elsewhere. The Portant team is always available and are willing to help in anyway necessary as well.

CONS

Maybe with the transfer of images. Sometimes it doesn't pick up the image and transfer it to the document completely the first time. But otherwise it works well.

Practical Merge solution

PROS

I have been leveraging Portant for the past 5 months and have converted other co-workers to using this add-on. The efficiency of this product, automating data merges between sheet, slide and doc is a great time-saver. Very pleased with the product and updates.

CONS

To date I have not experienced any hot button needs/pain points that would be specific to this add on.

My personal experience using the software

This software definitely helped with my certificate problem. Before I encounter with this software, providing people with certificate have been the hardest job because I have to type manually the email address and too much error occur. Thus is software really minimize the errors.

PROS

I am currently trying to use this software to distribute certificates after each events that my university held and this software came out to be the easiest for me to handle. The instructions can be easily followed and if there were problems regarding the instructions, you can always ask directly and they will patiently help you. so I am so excited to further explore this software later on.

CONS

Sometimes, the certificate did not get delivered to certain people. That, I am not so sure what might be the problem. Probably due to an incorrect email or else. However, when this problem occur, I cannot detect who did not receive the certificate unless the participant itself came up to me. and thus I will personally email them their certificate.

Easy to use and highly effective

Solved our admin workflows in a really easy to use manner.

Portant has filled a very much needed gap in the administration workflow. It's a simple to use tool, with no feature-bloating, but highly effective and saves a ton of time in our admin.

Great product, great team!

I love being able to build a template with ease and use it to make high-quality documents. As a busy medical student with many side-projects and passions, this product brought my ideas to life. I love being able to easily make and manipulate a document, thoroughly test it, and have great customer support when I get stumped!

Brilliant solution for our Graduation Slideshow

Outstanding--especially the customer service!

PROS

Couldn't find an add on that would merge spreadsheet data to slides including photos (unless the photos were public on the web) and now I have. Made creating a Graduation Slideshow so easy. Also, amazing customer service; [SENSITIVE CONTENT] were awesome at helping to troubleshoot.

CONS

It suited my needs perfectly and so I can't really comment on this.

Reasons for switching to Portant

The product I was using did not allow for me to merge a photo from my Google drive without having to tediously make each one public.

Seamless data merge add-on for Google docs

PROS

Works exactly as described. We needed this for one specific workflow in our business, to data merge info from a form into a document. Now that I've seen it in action, I can think of so many more uses, especially with the Pro version. Support was very helpful in solving a problem within my responses sheet that was preventing the app from running. Highly recommend!

CONS

The help files are a little hard to find.

Simplifying document creation

I needed to create multiple replicated documents to share with ~30 individuals, all with slightly different data depending on the individual. I already had the data in Google sheets, and the Docs templates, so I decided to give Portant a try. Using Portant was a pleasure - it was easy to setup, intuitive to use and provided value immediately. I was impressed!

PROS

Very easy to setup and intuitive to use. The product has good, in-context instructions that help you along the way.

CONS

Nothing that comes to mind, it did what it said it would do.
