Excellent Offsite Backup solution for a reasonable price
I work with a number of servers. There isn't an extra charge for backing up a server like it's main competitors. There's a wealth of options that let you control what you backup, when you backup and for how long. On servers, it allows you to perform AD, SQL, Sharepoint, and Exchange server backups.
CONSInitial backups seem to take longer than some of it's main competitors. The wealth of options may be a bit intimidating for novice users. The price increase when adding additional space above 500gb is excessive. It's cheaper to purchase a 2nd account.

Massive charges unexpectedly, unresponsive support & terrible product
Terrible.
PROSWhen e2 isn't down, it works well. Lots of locations to pick from.
CONSIDrive charged us $230 due to misleading wording in their e2 egress policy (which we attempted to clarify, but were ignored). They're now ignoring our requests for a refund too.

Reliable service
I bought 5TB plan.I'm not a tech guy and for me the interface is very important and iDrive's interface is very intuitive and ease to use. I didn't feel the need to read any tutorial and I used the interface at once, from the first glance.I can interrupt the transfer at any time, the queued files or folders will be resumed when I need. If a file wasn't completely transferred because interruption, it will be resumed without a problem. After a job completion you'll receive a report and you can access a detailed log. In a particular backup I spotted that a file wasn't transferred because of an error and when I verified I discovered that file was corrupted. Searching further more I found that my hard drive had errors and I could corrected them. For short and medium transfers my upload speed transfer in Romania was 25-50 MB/s (megaBytes not mbs), but when I transfered 1.4 TB medium transfer speed was only 17MB/s. My internet connection is capable of 90-100 MB/s and obviously it wasn't the bottleneck. When I had a minor problem the chat support on their website resolved it in seconds.
PROSGood interfaceSafe serviceGood transfer speed for medium and light jobsInstant support through chat in websiteDetailed logs for transfers
CONSSlow transfer speed for long jobs, despite using 4 threads.
Reason for choosing IDrive
Generous storage space at a fair price.
Reasons for switching to IDrive
OneDrive offered a 6TB plan, but in fact I should create other 5 different accounts and then adding them to my base account. Besides, I didn't like their interface.

Used to be good but not any more
They used to be so good! I don't know what happened to them. New owners? New development and support team? Their Support crew didn't seem very interested and I frequently had to prompt them into action. When I cancelled my old account they still tried to charge me a subscription renewal for it - turns out they deliberately obscure the process needed to cancel so you think you've cancelled when you haven't. I'm disappointed when any company uses deceptive tactics to make it difficult to cancel recurring billing. When I cancelled my new account (because it never worked and they couldn't make it work) they would not fully refund me. That's both mean-spirited and a very foolish business decision when I can clearly show by their own email chain that they never once provided a working product. That means disputed credit charge transaction and a very expensive merchant chargeback, all for the sake of a couple of dollars. I don't know what business manager thinks that makes sense.
PROSI used to use a legacy version of iDrive on a legacy plan. It worked great. I was always impressed with them keeping versions of files and retaining deleted files indefinitely. Nothing else out there touches it for features. Unfortunately it simply doesn't work any more.
CONSI wanted to upgrade to a modern plan and for that I had to upgrade to the current version of iDrive. It never worked. Not once. Many emails to and from iDrive Support and they could not get it to work. Keep in mind the old version worked perfectly for years on this machine. It would hang for 12+ hours in "preparing file list" even when I reduced the backup set to a single file of only 1Kb in size.

First time user of iDrive after trying multiple other solutions
Perfect so far. It runs in the background totally transparently with no interruptions with other processes. We can leave the status screen up all the time to constantly monitor the state of backups and see if there have been any issues.
PROSEase-of-use is definitely very important to us. Though technical people set it up, administrative people need to manage it going forward. It is the simplest and most visual backup solution I've tried. One screen that you can manage and visualize the state of all your backups.
CONSI have not used iDrive very long, but so far we have not identified any shortcomings for our application
Reason for choosing IDrive
Seemed to be faster backing up to the cloud storage, plus we preferred the interface and visual monitoring of the backup processes. We had some issues when using the other products, while we did not have any issues with iDrive doing our trial.
Reasons for switching to IDrive
Interface and bugs. They mostly worked well but were difficult to manage and easily visualize the state of our backups. We also ran into some underlying bugs that caused serious issues with the backup software we used with the cloud services.

Inexpensive storage with great basic functionality
Pretty good. Upload speeds are limited by my bandwidth and I would definitely use the mail-in Express service if the UK shipping charges were more reasonable, or they had a UK-based upload service. Backups have worked as expected and I hope never to have to use the recovery service for anything other than testing purposes.
PROSThe cost per terabyte is commendably low and was the initial reason I tested iDrive. All the basic functionality was available in the desktop app that I needed - scheduled backups of internal and external media. Initial testing showed that everything worked pretty much as expected 'out of the box' and that backups could be easily restored. I was sufficiently impressed to purchase the software. I've used it to backup about half a terabyte of data so far, with more to be uploaded. Scheduled backups run as expected, or as soon as the machine is turned on. They also run if the machine is sleeping - waking, backing up and sleeping again. During the testing phase I contacted customer support with a relatively trivial query (see comment below re timestamps) and got a prompt answer - that was reassuring.
CONSAll timings by the software use PST (Pacific Standard Time) and a US format timestamp. I'm on the other side of the world and it seems nonsensical for me to schedule a 9 am backup on the 10th of November (10/11/22) to find that the system records it as being made at 3 am on 11/10/22. If backups are daily and no more frequent this shouldn't be an issue, but it could well cause problems (or at least confusion) if backups were more frequent.I would like to see more granularity in the backup scheduling. For example - to set weekly backups for one external drive and daily backups for another. My understanding from the FAQ and help files, together with practical use of the system, is that all network/external drives are handled as a single backup set. The only way to omit one would be to leave it unplugged. In the same way, all local files/folders are handled as a single backup set, again with no granularity. The advantage of this approach is simplicity, the disadvantage is a lack of flexibility. For peace of mind, simplicity is better ... but I'd still like the option of more granularity.
Reason for choosing IDrive
Price and functions. Dropbox has too many and costs too much. Backblaze offers unlimited storage but cost more. I don't have unlimited data and the rate-limiting step was always going to be the upload speeds.
Reasons for switching to IDrive
I've used Dropbox for many years for my research team, with a 10 Tb business account and a 2 Tb personal account. The software was getting less and less easy to use as additional (and - to me - unwanted) functions were added and the desktop client was intrusive and a memory hog. The cost of the storage was also high. With an educational discount I'm paying about one third what I was paying for Dropbox.

Backs up files
I don't like to say bad things about any person or company but using Idrive just didn't benefit us at all. Hopefully my experience isn't common and most people don't have so many problems with Idrive.
PROSIdrive backs up files and keeps them private and protected. Setting up Idrive only took a few minutes, there's not a lot of complicated settings to get confused with. It has a cloud and local backup option, it can even back up a disc image.
CONSThe performance on desktop and mobile devices is very different. The mobile app is the software version of a paperweight, it just does not work at all. The automatic backup is not automatic. On my desktop IDrive backs up files but won't store files independently. If I backup files and then delete one, it gives an error message for all of the files and won't open the deleted file. I was scared to find out what would happen if I actually needed to recover files from Idrive.
Reasons for switching to IDrive
We really liked sync.com but we moved all HIPAA applicable records to an EMR and started looking for a cheaper cloud storage for everything else.

Easy to use and non-intrusive
I just needed a reliable off-site backup of my files.
PROSEasy to set up and specify which folders to back. There is no need to move all your data to a special folder as there is with OneDrive or DropBox. This is a big issue as it lengthens some already long paths I have. Both OneDrive and DropBox actually corrupted and lost my data, whereas iDrive hasn't done that. I get emails and alerts to tell me if a backup has failed for any reason.
CONSNo real problems found.
Reason for choosing IDrive
Because I had already had bad experiences with OneDrive which is why I moved to DropBox. DropBox was good for a while, but a recent change in architecture seems to have rendered what used to be a good product something of a disaster area.
Reasons for switching to IDrive
Dropbox corrupted my files when I switch computer and I had to use my secondary backup (external hard drive) to recover them. I messaged DropBox but none of the suggestions allowed me to recover my files.

Easy cloud backup for personal or small business use
IDrive is an economical way to provide cloud backup as a "last resort" back up against ransomeware attacks. For my use and the use of my clients, it is easy to install, easy to use, and provides a free means of seeding large back ups. I did need to use it on a Linux (Ubuntu) system. I am learning Linux and found that using their Linux option required a fair amount of research to get it working. However, once I had installed all the requisite free software to make it work, I discovered that the online interface was easy to use.
PROSOne account could back up data from multiple computers. The price was lower because this solution did not include extra services that, in this instance, were extraneous to my and my clients needs.
CONSIdrive states that it is compatible with Linux. It is, however, there is no program to install, only a series of Perl scripts. I am not super familiar with Linux and it took a couple hours and research to get this functionality working. Once that investment was complete, it worked very well fron the web interface.
Reason for choosing IDrive
In this case, neither myself nor my clients required cloud file storage. Many of the business solutions were essentially cloud storage. My clients are small businesses without the need of cloud file storage...and who wouldn't know how to use it.
Reasons for switching to IDrive
I was using Syncrify over a software VPN and there was concern that ransomeware could potentially cross the VPN and create problems with the backup

Gets the job done, simple to use.
Excellent value, no issues with upload speed. Allows data to be secured with a key only you have access to for privacy.
PROSI have been using IDrive for several months now, and it is doing a great job of backing up my primary C drive as well as my two auxiliary drives full of RAW format photos and 4k video footage. It is simple to use and set up, and seems good enough for pro use. It also doesn't put too much of a load on the system unlike some competing products. I'm glad I purchased it, and it's a good value.
CONSAt this time there is nothing I do not like about IDrive.
Reason for choosing IDrive
IDrive was better priced, more storage and more local datacentres.
Reasons for switching to IDrive
Pricing and slow uploading to the servers.

Dropbox was too expensive for the low amount of space you receive
So far so good it has the same features as dropbox with over double the space with the smallest plan and it’s half the price.
PROSI liked the fact it was easy to get and the deal they offered on the first year. Dropbox does not let you know when they are going to pull money out of your account to pay the yearly fee. I was very upset with this. They used to do that, but they stopped two years ago and you only get 2 TB of space.
CONSThe only thing I did not care for is the fact that when I attempted to purchase the upgrade, I accidentally punched in the wrong security code, and it still charged my credit card. But the charge was reversed the next morning.
Reason for choosing IDrive
Mainly the price and the size of storage space
Reasons for switching to IDrive
Their yearly charges have increased you only get 2 TB of space for $120 a year which is crazy. It was not worse that I used dropbox for almost 10 years.

Have faith in iDrive
The customer service has been great and I have appreciated al the tutorials on how to use it properly.
PROSWhilst it takes a while to get used to the features which are not as user friendly or intuitive as other storage solutions, you can definitely have faith in the security and robustness of iDrive.
CONSThe need for manual removal of files in cloud storage when they have been deleted from your machine is a real pain. I keep forgetting to do this which results in taking me over my quota.
Reason for choosing IDrive
The 5TB offer was too good to refuse plus I have more faith in iDrive's security systems. Also price was a big consideration as a student.
Reasons for switching to IDrive
Dropbox was too expensive for a lower storage limit (2TB) and ended up constantly freezing on my machine.
