A Foundational Tool for File Sharing and Secure Document Management

This is a fantastic option for cloud storage, especially if you are familiar with and integrate a lot of Microsoft products. 10/10!

PROS

I love how easy it is to collaborate with team members remotely. I also love the functionality and ease of use on the mobile.

CONS

It can be slow to synch between different devices, so it is something to consider when cross-collaborating on projects, sometimes the edits are not as fast as they should be.

Reason for choosing OneDrive

Due to the notoriety of One Drive and my trust in Microsoft products

Reasons for switching to OneDrive

One Drive was better for my business functionalities while google drive was better for my independent and personal use

Not a Fan but Stuck With It

Overall this has been a very frustrating software product to use. Not only is the tree structure not intuitive, but my belief that users will be getting the most updated version of a document is very poor.

PROS

That we can collaborate on documents with remote users.

CONS

Inconsistent with how versions of documents are shared. Really need this software to show updated version in real time.

Reasons for switching to OneDrive

Required by a collaborator

OneDrive, a robust, affordable and easy to implement cloud solution.

I needed a RELIABLE offsite backup for my small business office computers. Local hardware solutions were problematic and usually required support from a vendor from time to time. OneDrive solved my issue with ample space and I no longer need the IT support.

PROS

The Ease of installation is outstanding and the seamless integration into the windows office products is key. The Vault feature is another bonus to keep certain documents behind a second level of security.

CONS

On ocassion there can be a syncing issue which will create a duplicate copy of the file. That problem is easily solved.

Reason for choosing OneDrive

It actually came as a value ad with Microsoft Office 365, which was just too good to be true.

The most used because it is among the best, especially for users of Windows operating systems

We can consider it among the best providers of this type of cloud storage services, saving and sharing files, and it is also very good in terms of saving important documents because it provides protection from the loss or damage of any of them

PROS

The main benefit from my point of view and what interests me in this program is that you can access the files that you have saved from anywhere so that you can finish what you were working on on your computer from the mobile phone and vice versa. It also has access to all operating systems used, whether on computers or phones, as it can access via Android, iPad, iPhone, Mac, Windows, even on web browsers. The ability to synchronize existing data from OneDrive to your computer. The ability to back up your files to the cloud.Saving files in OneDrive provides an additional layer of security so that if anything happens to your device, the files will be safe in it, and photos and videos can be automatically saved from a connected device such as a camera, phone, etc. directly to OneDrive. The possibility of remote access to any of the files on the personal computer by other devices, regardless of synchronization or not, provided that it is running Windows. The possibility of adding several accounts, whether personal or business, to use them at the same time on the same device.Ease of adding files to OneDrive or downloading from it.

CONS

The cloud storage capacity for the average user is only 5 GB as a maximum, and if you want to increase the storage capacity than that, you will incur additional fees, which I considered very expensive compared to similar applications, as the competition is strong, otherwise I think it is suitable in all respects.

One Drive User Experience

As someone who relies heavily on cloud storage for both personal and professional use, I can confidently say that OneDrive is one of the best options available. The platform offers a user-friendly interface that makes it easy for me to upload, access, and share my files with others. The seamless integration with Microsoft Office has been a game-changer for my team's ability to collaborate on projects and documents, making it a valuable tool for my business. One of the features that I find most useful is the automatic photo-upload feature on my mobile device. It allows me to easily backup and access my pictures while on the go, which is especially important to me as I take a lot of photos and want to ensure that they are safe and protected. Additionally, the ability to access my files from anywhere and on any device has been a huge plus, enabling me to stay productive no matter where I am.In terms of security, OneDrive offers a variety of features to ensure that my files are safe and protected. This includes two-factor authentication and end-to-end encryption, which adds an extra layer of security to my files, giving me peace of mind. The feature that allows me to restore previous versions of a file is also a lifesaver in case I accidentally delete something or need to revert to an older version of a document. The pricing for OneDrive is also very reasonable, with the free plan providing 5GB of storage and paid plans starting at $1.99/month for 100GB of storage. This makes

PROS

In my personal opinion, OneDrive's seamless integration with Microsoft Office is one of the standout features that makes it the best cloud storage option available. This feature allows me to easily collaborate on documents and projects with my team, making it a valuable tool for my professional work. Additionally, the automatic photo-upload feature on mobile devices is a great way for me to easily backup and access pictures while on the go, which is particularly important for me as I take a lot of photos and want to ensure that they are safe and protected.

CONS

In my personal opinion, one of the least favorite things about OneDrive is that it can sometimes sync slowly, especially when working with large files or folders. This can be frustrating as it can delay my access to the files I need. Additionally, I've experienced some issues with the automatic photo-upload feature, such as it not working properly or duplicating files which can be frustrating.Another downside I've noticed is that the free plan of OneDrive only provides 5GB of storage, which may not be enough for me, especially since I have a lot of files and videos.Lastly, I also find that the features and functionality of OneDrive can be overwhelming for me. While the platform is designed to be user-friendly, it takes time for me to learn all the features and settings.

OneDrive Review

OneDrive is a cloud storage service that provides me with a convenient and secure way to store, share, and access files from anywhere with an internet connection. I appreciate its seamless integration with Microsoft Office products and the ability to collaborate on documents in real time with others. The automatic syncing of files across devices and advanced security features, such as encryption and two-factor authentication, are also highly valued.

PROS

allows users to store, share, and access files from any device with an internet connection. One of the things that I like about OneDrive is its seamless integration with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This allows easily save and access of files from within the Office applications, also offers automatic syncing of files across devices, which means that any changes made to a file on one device will be reflected on all other devices where the file is stored.

CONS

One of the common complaints about OneDrive is its limited storage capacity. While users can purchase additional storage space, the default free plan only offers 5 GB of storage, which may not be sufficient for users with large files or multiple devices.Another potential issue with OneDrive is that it requires an internet connection to access files stored in the cloud. If the internet connection is slow or unreliable, it can lead to delays or difficulties in accessing and syncing files.

Reliable Cloud storage platform.

We use Onedrive for secured file storage and for easy access to the files we have saved.

PROS

A major part of utilizing cloud based , file storage platforms , is for the purpose of easy file sharing. This is an area that Onedrive really does excel. I only have to highlight what I want to share and click "share" , then I am provided with a web-link , for which I need to determine a password and set an expiration date for the file link I am sharing. The above allows for quick file sharing on the one hand, and also ensures that only the person that has the determined password, can access the file shared via the web link I created.

CONS

Collaboration updates on Onedrive is quite slow, especially when compared with the collaboration speed on some other substitute file storage platforms.

A popular cloud storage offering from Microsoft.

OneDrive is a very useful app for me and my organization. I have easy access to files both remotely and in the office. This is a time saver for me. Easily organise, access, move, rename and delete files. It allows me to manage my important files more efficiently.

PROS

Being a Microsoft application, OneDrive is very well synced with all the Windows systems in my office. It allows me to share documents in real time with multiple editors using the same copy. It previews all files without downloading them and downloads them when needed.

CONS

The user interface of this software could be more intuitive. And it should offer more storage for free to counter similar apps from its competitors.

I Use OneDrive For My Personal Important Files Because I Know They are Safe There!

I use it every morning. I love to use for keeping our family budget sheets up to day, for sharing files and creating files and that they are really easy to download to look at offline too! I'm really very impressed!

PROS

I love the fact that you have have your personal private files in the special OneDrive personal Vault, which requires extra password protection. It's great! Especially when you need a file but are not close to your regular computer or device, you can log on anywhere in the world and go through the special vault for extra incryption. I love it! And it's very generous with the files sizes too! Plus it's just so easy to use! Definitely my favourite online document storage place for sure. I particularly like using the sheets that work pretty much exactly like Excel, I love not having to learn new systems just to work online. Thank-you Microsoft!

CONS

Nothing really. I used to find it annoying if I had a shared document with my partner and we couldn't work on the files at the same time and have the system remember to do the updates, but that seems to be fixed now, so it's all good!

Reason for choosing OneDrive

I actually have both, OneDrive is just my favourite of the two.

Reasons for switching to OneDrive

I switched because I wanted more protection for my personal files. I still use both for my regular and business files. But I really love OneDrive because it's just so user friendly!

Microsoft One Drive

Works very well as a standard personal cloud file management tool for both personal use and business use. Lacking many advanced options found in Google/Box for public file sharing. Works well with eDiscovery and other legal and compliance tools Has improved greatly over time with real-time collaboration and automatic saving Simple to implement and rollout as it is native with MS Office Continue to grow its footprint in my current company as an alternative to File Shares

PROS

Industry standard software works natively with MS Office Allows sharing and collaboration of files with anyone and anywhere Simple to use and and administer Compliant for regulations and easily searchable/discoverable

CONS

Sharing options are very limited for outside users and difficult to control once in the wild Administration is not robust, still old style Security is lacking especially for the uninitiated Plays well with MS not so well with other tools

Reason for choosing OneDrive

Native with MS Office and part of the O365 subscription Change management would be significant to leave O365 subscription

Best Solution for File Syncing MS Office Files

For the most part, we use G Suite. The small businesses we consult with use G Suite. Most larger companies though, still use MS Office for everything. To meet the requirement of those clients, we still keep 2 legacy installs of MS Office alive. For MS Office files, we use OneDrive for file syncing. OneDrive allows our team to collaborate and share files easily. It resolves a pain point at a reasonable price.

PROS

OneDrive lets my team backup, share and collaborate on MS Office files. I manage the PC's in my office and OneDrive is an easy way for me to manage backing up these files automatically from half the PC's we use. It's proven itself reliable, and for our modest storage needs, at a price point that is pain-free.

CONS

There isn't a reliable way to back up to it from a Linux system. I can't really fault Microsoft for that. But it would be nice if they get to a point where they support any operating system, be it Windows, Mac or Linux. To be fair though, the web interface does work fine, but it is a bit of a manual process. I have a couple of Linux apps that can back up their data independently to OneDrive, so it is possible. Looking at the changes in Microsoft, this may only be a matter of time.

Reason for choosing OneDrive

It offered the best compatibility for file syncing Microsoft Office files. It's reliable and the app makes it easy to manage backups.

Cheaper Alternative to Dropbox plus Added Benefit of Microsoft Office Products

I have been using one drive for 2 plus years now and I could say it was a great decision to transfer from dropbox to one drive.

PROS

For several years I used dropbox to store files. Then I realized that there is a cheaper option and it is One Drive. This software is relatively cheaper at 1TB file storage. It also allowed me and my family members to share the software because it can be shared up to 5 users if you use the family plan. Overall, we are very satisfied with this software.

CONS

The software has some minor bugs if you use it with a Mac and not on a Windows OS. Further, the uploading of the files takes longer unlike in dropbox, the uploading is faster because dropbox only uploads changes made to the file and not the entire file. Further the problem is also when one drive detects duplicate files for example you are using your one drive in your macbook and windows laptop. There are times that the files get duplicated. It would have been nice to allow us to see those duplicate files so we can decide which one to retain or not. It seems difficult at this point. But I am hoping in the future versions it will be easier.

Reason for choosing OneDrive

Again because it was cheaper and has free microsoft office programs

Reasons for switching to OneDrive

One drive was cheaper and more value for money

Makes Excel & Word backups a breeze

We use Excel everyday and this has been a game changer for our business. We can access our files from anywhere on any computer. We often work remotely on job sites (out of the office), and this allows us to not worry about losing our data and makes finding our files really easy.

PROS

We've been using OneDrive for a few years now and it's been a game changer. If you use Excel or word on a regular bases, it makes opening and sharing these files a breeze. The best part is the auto save feature so you don't have too worry about losing data if you forget to save. Also you can access your files from anywhere without worrying about a file saved on a local machine. When you open or save a file in a Microsoft product like Excel or Word. It automatically shows your OneDrive folder as a spot to open or save files to which is so nice. You don't have too worry about going to a website and opening or uploading your files like you do with other cloud storage systems. OneDrive shows up like a file folder right on your computer!

CONS

Have had some issues with more then one user in the same file over writing each other's changes. We started saving new versions with our initials and the date in the title so we don't risk losing our over writing each other's changes.

Reason for choosing OneDrive

We use Excel for everything in our business and it integrates seamlessly with OneDrive. The autosave feature has been invaluable as prior to OneDrive we definitely had some lost files stranded on a individual computers.

Reasons for switching to OneDrive

You don't have to worry about going to URL to open or save your files. It shows up as a file folder right on your computer when saving or opening files.
