Logikcull Software


 

Logikcull is a cloud based system for managing the process of legal discovery. With Logikcull, practices are able to drag and drop files, search, cull, and create discovery productions within a secure system.

Logikcull makes documents accessible via mobile phones, tablets, and smartwatches.

With Logikcull, documents are automatically de-duplicated and de-nisted; metadata, attachments, and text are preserved and searchable; every document is converted into a PDF format to review and use in productions; and images are automatically OCR’d through Logikcull’s partnership with Abbyy. Users are able to find relevant and non-relevant documents through the program’s Culling Intelligence engine, and production templates can be created and saved for future use. Practices are also able to produce in PDF or TIFF formats either with or without endorsements and flatten and OCR redacted files to ensure non-redacted information is not produced.

This is an absolute fantastic platform. I deal with 1000s of files on regular basis and their search capability is by far the best. You really can't beat the price and pay as you go structure either.

Pros

Step 1: Drag & drop files into browser. Step 2: Get to work on the project.
(It's really that easy)

Cons

Can't think of anything. I've used this product for about 2 years off-and-on and it just keeps getting better.

Recommendations

If you use the software all the time, what tools are provided to batch, streamline, or reproduce the work process? If you don't get to use it often, how easy is it to pick up and use quickly and effectively, and how responsive is technical support? How intuitive are the online tutorials when you are under the gun and need to figure something out right away on your own, or in the middle of the night? Logikcull has both ends of this spectrum completely covered.

Nothing. When they have problems, they fix them as fast as you can report them. I've never encountered a product that implements user suggestions like they do.

Recommendations

Think towards the future and don't get caught up in the established and out-dated softwear available from other providers.

The product is very easy to navigate; it has a simple but effective interface with tons of power search tools and the ability to output document production in multiple formats. Logik is a great company to work with, their tech support always responds quickly with useful answers and they are very open to customer feedback.

Likes Least

The document previewer is a little slow to load larger(100+ page pdfs and etc.). Also the ability to do certain things like delete a document upload set from a project would be nice.

Recommendations

Temper your expectations going in. This a very useful product to assist with e-discovery but it doesn't do everything and it's built around the concept of power searching so you'll need to have some idea about what you expect to get out of the data you input. Try not to be overwhelmed at first glace. The interface has a great many options, settings, and filters. It's easy to get lost at first but once you get used to it you'll find it's very intuitive and powerful.

Logikcull is easy to use and is the only e-discovery software company of which I am aware that offers a free account up to 100 Mb. The software works on any platform and device. Uploading is easy and fast. The software makes it easy to handle any amount of data more efficiently.

Likes Least

I am told that Logikcull is improving the flexibility of its production/download capabilities. It already is a very effective component, but there are improvements that are apparently in the works that will make it even easier to use.

Recommendations

Fully test the software and use it in a case so you utilize every component and aspect of the software to provide a comprehensive and accurate assessment.

Easy to get started and minimal buy in. The pricing is also predictable and reasonable.

The double edged sword of simple cloud services is that they are hosted off site. The speed won't compare with something hosted in house for most folks.

Recommendations

Religiously try multiple products, don't just do demos. Demos are good, but until you're in the thick of it, you really won't know the product.

Ability to handle e-discovery more efficiently and effectively.

Pros

I like how it is organized and the ability it gives me to organize and search my files, large and small. Easy to apply tags and add notes. So much of the organization is done by the software especially when you have native files.

Cons

It takes some training but since Customer Support (which is awesome) is 24/7, it is possible to learn the ins and outs of the software with ease. They are prompt and extremely helpful. I feel like I am going to move from novice to expert in record time. Learning about the various field options for printouts has been the most challenging because I am not a techie. However, with one phone call, I am able to download and bates my documents accurately.

Reduced the time and errors incurred in the discovery process.

Pros

This platform is the most comprehensive, intuitive, and user friendly litigation software out there. It's so easy to use even an attorney can use it! The ability to tag another user in a comment and that comment is then emailed to the user with a link to the document is the most ingenious feature of this software.

Cons

I have had a few server issues where the network was unable to create a new tag. Those times have been far and few between. For the price of this service, our firm would put up with much worse.

Pros

It's very simple and intuitive. It makes reviewing documents much easier, and searching is really simple. I particularly like the filtering options for narrowing data sets down to exactly what we're looking for.

Cons

I wish that it accepted more file types (we use a lot of dwg/cad files, which are not supported), and the email threading could be more user-friendly.

How easy it was to use! I took a tutorial, but the web design was wonderfully easy and uncomplicated even for beginners. The customer service was also superb.

Cons

I had some bumps in the road completing my project along the way. Your customer service was great, but most of the questions that I assumed had easy fixes or answers, didn't. Rather, the person I was chatting with said they would put a new features request in. For example, the documents were numbered when I opened them, but when they weren't open, there were no numbers so it was extremely difficult to find the document I had left off of. Minor details like that that would make the usability more efficient.

Cons

Does not have a function to facilitate written answers to interrogatories that tie to the document production. But, I found a work around to accomplish a similar goal because the software is easy to use and flexible. The workaround involves more steps than I'd like, which is why I'd like to see something added to Logikcull to provide a full package for responding to discovery.

Granted there was a big learning curve in trying to figure out how to use the program (since I never really dealt with the specifics of eDiscovery), but as with anything, the more I played around with the various functions and used it for our case-matters, it became quite easy to use.

Cons

I wish you had the option to specify what wording you wanted to include on a slipsheet for a
specific file type. I also wish it had the ability to automatically identify (or the option to designate) how you will receive opposing parties' document productions when not produced in a "typical" eDiscovery program load file (i.e. we receive the majority of opposing parties' document productions in PDF file and/or PDF file and native Excel file formats only.)

I love how easy it is the process and review data. To process data with our old solution, I would need support from the vendor AND our IT team. The processing was very slow and while it did the job, the search/review functionality was limited. With Logikcull, I can process data from anywhere there is a WiFi connection and I do not have to wait for the vendor or IT to get started. Thanks to the filter carousel, I have a ton of information available about the collection as soon as it's done processing. Logikcull essentially takes the first pass at the documents for me!

Cons

Because Logikcull is so efficient and I've revealed (and raved about) its capabilities with my boss, I now do far more discovery work in-house. Definitely not a win for my workload (or stress level sometimes), but the cost-savings are a big win for the Legal department and the company.

Cost-effective and highly efficient document management and production under our control. That last part is huge.

Pros

Logikcull evolves with our needs and the company is incredibly responsive to suggestions and requests. Most importantly, it's easy to use and doesn't require a hefty investment in learning a confusing interface. It looks like a modern web application because it IS a modern web application that is applied to eDiscovery, which is an industry where UX and UI are often second-class citizens. In short, Logikcull is a huge advance for lawyers who need an everyday solution for document management, robust discovery tools and document production.

Cons

It still lacks some features common to older database-driven eDiscovery applications, but the gap is constantly narrowing.

easy to use; clear to see what the different icons mean; love the how-to's sent out by emails; support knowledge base easy to use as well.

Cons

concepts sometimes hard to garner but it does get clear; zip files - it would be good to know at the beginning to use something like WinZip ( a special) zip program is recommended instead of the default Windows zip process
