The students are able to see how I work through problems before they attempt to do it themselves. My favorite manipulatives I use with my 2nd graders are the base 10 blocks. Brainingcamp has an amazing feature that breaks up tens, hundreds, and thousands into smaller parts, and is able to regroup them just as quickly.
