ECP REVIEW, by Tanya Neubert from Prairie Home Assisted Living
Very Good!
PROSVery user friendly for staff to use and its used across the fox valley so many caregivers are familiar with the program. Also, the customer service staff are AMAZING, they are always kind, helpful, patient, and have excellent follow up.
CONSFor follow ups such as patches, Somehow make a follow up that can immediately ask them if they removed the previous patch. I am currently only able to do it 5 minutes later and we have to enter a separate patch removal as a treatment. Staff often forget to remove the old ones if we are not doing this. One other suggestion I'd like to put out there is I wish we could select certain parts of the ISP for the "active cares" that we want to for a quick reference for our staff. Even though it is a shortened version, it still is not efficient for us. Our hopes was the active cares would be similar to a form you'd see printed off in nursing homes on patients doors with instructions for CNA's. We have a few different forms we use like this internally but it would be amazing to have something be made from the ISP so your not re doing the work in two different area's. Currently we use a separate form which has the following areas listed on one page. These are the main topics with a few examples: Mental Status (example-alert/oriented) -Speech (example-difficult to understand)-Mobility Assistance(example-Wheelchair)- Transfer Assistance-Grooming Assistance-Special Equipment- Eyesight/Hearing- Medical Monitoring- Paralysis-Skin-Bathing Assistance-Oral Care-Dressing- Eating Assistance- Toileting Assistance-Night Services- Behaviors/Safety- Medications- Activities- Advanced Directives- Appointments- Housekeeping- Other Services - Evacuation Capability in Emergency.
Reason for choosing ECP
We tried other software systems but at that time ECP was the most advanced and worked with our primary pharmacy (Mortons) which was an added bonus. Since we have made the change we are very happy with services and have not ever felt the need to explore any other options.
Reasons for switching to ECP
They were still pretty paper based at that time, and did not have the ability to link with Mortons Long Term Care. Overall, we did like their forms and product, they just did not advance as quickly in the medication passing and linking with pharmacy like ECP. I do still think to myself today that the paper forms made by AlCharts should be adapted into ECP and the program would be much more efficient and companies would not have to spend so much time creating ISP's or additional forms when first starting. There are several forms we still use from AL Charts separately since we bought the documents by CD/binder at that time. Examples would self administration assessment, Medication system audit, and other assessments and materials that we are now starting to see more and more of each year with ECP, however, some of the documents are very detailed (way to extensive and could be simplified, especially because not all managers are nurses) Al Charts forms are very easy to use and simple but efficient with compliance.

ECP is a functional tool for recordkeeping
I use the software to enter new residents to our home. My process of entering a new resident is easy to follow and make changes if entered incorrectly. Printing from the program is also easy. All the tabs are quick to use for entering different information.
CONSI don't have anything to add to the section.

Benefits and ease of using the ECP
Wo Derulo experience from incident reporting to being able to make work orders is extremely helpful.
PROSOne of the most important reasons I like this software is the ease of reporting on our residents forthe team to see in real time.
CONSThe only thing I dislike about the software is the times of scheduled trainings and not having accessibility to watch the trainings after the class is done. I am an overnight worker and I love to learn, but am not able to participate because it is during sleeping hours for me.

Review of ECP
We have been using ECP for 8 years now. I have been approached by other companies to look at their product, but there are little things ECP has that others don't.
PROSThis software has all we need right at our finger tips. Especially for medpassers in a CBRF. They are not nurses so the picture of meds, the uses, the ability to look at the drug use. The fact that as an Administrator of the business I can go back and look at alot of different reports that are important to me. The ease of charting is so helpful otherwise it doesn't get done to my specifications. I also like the fact that our pharmacy is directly linked to ECP.I feel it is very easy to use, even for a person who is not a computer person.Customer service is awesome.
CONSI am not sure I have "least" remark about the software.

User friendly
The product is very user friendly, its easy to navigate and to update and add info
CONSUnable to navigate into other sections of the pt's chart while writing a note in the documentation section. At times its necessary to have access to other sections for reference. At present one is unable to do this without loosing the info written or saving and having to reopen note to edit. Not everyone in our facility has access to edit their notes.

Make the switch!
This product is very easy to use! Everything can be added into this program and makes it very easy to stay organized! The company is always willing to make something work to best suit our facility!
CONSThe care plan was a little difficult to navigate at first but I think the quirks have been worked out!

Training, updates, customer service
We use ECP for our eMAR, care plans, psych meds, charting, and a host of other items. Their program is user friendly and customer support is outstanding. The support team walk me through anything I do not understand.
CONSI would like to see a 'search' option for training. I sometimes spend 10 minutes or more looking for something. I would like to be able to enter a word and options show.

Ecp training
Love doing documentation and meds on computer, hate that there is so much more I could be using if I just was trained more on how to use ALL that is available.

CONSNo personal training, on-site training. Although help line always pleasant and helpful need some one to one personal training to get full use of the system. Can't solve everything on a 20 minute phone call

User friendly and customizable.
We use ECP for our EHR, our EMAR and most of our clinical applications across our 11 large Assisted Living/Memory Care communities. They are so good to work with and their customer support is extraordinary. I email about once a month over something or other which is usually an upgrade in the software.
PROSI like that I can customize assessments for the team. ECP offers assessments for most states that are state required (like in Utah) for Assisted Living. Most of the team can teach themselves the software really easily. It is very user friendly.
CONSEvery software has it's limitations and there are a few things that are a little wonky with ECP. I wish there was a way in the assessment that you could say if you select yes to an option, it opens up more of an assessment but if you say no it doesn't show up. Its a small thing. I anticipate this is an option ECP would develop someday. However, ECP is so good to work with that if this was something that was absolutely needed, they would make it happen.

ECP is customizable and easy to use. It is slick and user friendly and it is a comprehensive solution for MAR and assessments.

ECP for Resident Care in AL CBRF
I love using ECP, I have used a few documentation system over the years geared toward AL/CBRF and this is by far my favorite to use. Also there tech support is beyond great and helpful!
PROSI love the customization as a administrative you can implement. Also its easy for care staff to use and especially people who are not "tech savy".
CONSSome items are not logically labeled unless you know where to look for them.

Lots of little features that add to big savings.
I have used ECP with 3 employers now over my 20+ years in assisted livings. It has an easier set up, ability to make instant changes, and the support team is very responsive.

ECP-Easy to train...easy to use
If you can browse the internet or shop online, you can use ECP. It is easy to teach staff how to use, it is user friendly to customize, pharmacy integration saves valuable nursing time, customer service is excellent. We have been very happy with ECP overall.
CONSThe program is not always stable while using a Chromebook. The demand causes the computer to freeze and require restarting.
