Fishbowl Manufacturing is a business automation and inventory management platform for small to mid-sized. It integrates with QuickBooks accounting.

Fishbowl offers inventory control, material requirements planning (MRP) and job shop floor control / manufacturing execution, and can be to users’ needs. It is an inventory-centric system, with features for barcoding, asset management, raw materials management, cycle counting and customized reporting. The system also automates the quoting, ordering and purchasing processes.

Fishbowl Manufacturing is used in just about every industry by companies earning up to $100 million in annual revenue. It offers training and support resources through its training videos, online tutorials, in-house specialists and more. Fishbowl’s integration with QuickBooks allows users to integrate manufacturing, sales, and distribution processes with back office accounting.

Not much I like I guess appearance of documents is nice i.e. invoices, quotes, purchase orders etc.

Cons

Does not work and is not truly compatible with Quickbooks. Issues are endless does not transfer over invoices only sales receipts, does not transfer over purchase orders. The support is a joke this company is understaffed and it takes you have to leave a message for a 48 hour call back. Also when you do get someone on the phone they never fix all of your issues, since they are in a rush to get on the next phone call. Service is a NIGHTMARE!!!!

During sales demo program does everything you need it to but once paid for good luck. training team could learn from sales team. Only integrates with Quickbook if all conditions are perfect. Not reliable to update daily. Waste of money.

This is a great start-up and small business POS program. It is robust and will allow your company to grow with out paying out for additional software upgrades. The inventory controls, vendor and receiving modules work great together. You don't have any limiitations when creating new part numbers. Custom pricing is easily learned.

Pros

For a wholesale / retail business, this is a feature packed program that handles most day to day operations and is accurate. Being PC / Server based, you don't have lag time or glitches. It's a good solid program. Integration with QBO is seamless... one button updates or create a schedule. Unlike other software companies, the service package is affordable, and the support staff is top notch.

Cons

This program is great for start up and smaller businesses, but the downside is the upfront initial cost. After using Fishbowl Inventory, you will find that the benefits outweight the cost.

Easy to learn and mostly user friendly. Fishbowl support is friendly and easy to work with. Any issues they address and correct immediately.

Cons

Several versions have glitches that require lots of communication between us and fishbowl support but they are always able to correct the problem. Our next update should fix those problems.

Amon was very nice, knowledgeable, informative. When something didn't work right, he figured it out quickly and was able to complete a lot of things we had not prepared for.

Cons

I have only been using this software for a few months and have to say that it is easy to learn and very functional. The trainer that trained me and the tech support guys I have talked with are very knowledgeable on the software and a great help.

Pros

I like all the different links that can be used between modules to get to the information I'm looking for easier.

Cons

I wish we could create our own reports when needed. There is some confusion for me with the MO and Picking modules, almost seems to be too much, especially for what we are using it for..

Love this product! I have used several inventory programs before Fishbowl and the others programs do not even come close to what Fishbowl provides and the cost for the other programs were greater than Fishbowl.

I love the BOM, MO AND THE WAY OUR FINISHED PRODUCT CAN BE TRACK JUST IN CASE OF A RECALL!!!!!!!!!!!

It is very hard to customize reports, part and product FYI Are not the same F.B is good for shipping but when you need to mix it with your accounting program its lacking, as it is not an accounting program.

I am incredibly disappointed in the products service and wish I could get my money back, however since it takes weeks for a reply and over a two months to get to the point where I could actually use the software, it was past the period of a refund. They do not care about you, your time, or your business.

Pros

I like the capabilities of the product. It has a lot of great features that could be utilized if you were able to get the proper support and training.

Cons

The set up has taken over two months with absolutely terrible customer service and support. I am still not able to utilize the software in a way that is even workable in my business and I have called, left messages, sent emails and it is not abnormal for it to take weeks for a reply if you even get one. Also it does not have quality sales reports.

The software is very powerful. It's also very user-friendly. It makes simple things easy. For example, when you are searching for parts or inventory, you only need to type in a portion of the part number. It can even be the middle of the part, and it will pull up all relevant matches. When searching for a part, you input your information and just hit enter. No need to take your hands off the keyboard and move the mouse to click on something. Blows Quickbooks multi-inventory away.

Cons

The main screens on the vendor and customer modules are greyed out because you can't edit names and numbers from there. The greyed out areas are very difficult to read.

The idea behind the software is great, sadly not reflected when using the program. Fishbowl is very flexible and allow us to use close to the way we need.

Cons

Tech Support. They are great when you can get connected but it took me a week to get a call back. User interface could be a little more friendly. A lot of grey buttons and some weird bugs often makes it hard to use.

If you are going to charge this much for a product it should look like it was made in this century, it should have all of the modern data interchange features expected from a modern application, and support should be fantastic. We have started looking at alternatives and will NOT be renewing.

Pros

Decent product. The interface is a little dated, and some standard thing you would expect in functionality are missing or difficult to use. But, overall, it is a decent product if your goal is to have an inventory and order management system that integrates with Quickbooks.

Cons

You will get no support unless you complain. We just updated our license, paid for a year of support. Still waiting 48 hours later for a call back from support. This is normal.

When you do get the support you will most likely start with the lowest level support and have to either speak to the real support people through an intermediary or have to wait another day or two for the next level of support to call you back. Repeat that process until you finally get to someone who knows what they are talking about.

Support this expensive should be fantastic. Instead, I am not certain what they could do to make this any worse.

It's really a great value compared to other ERP systems.

Pros

There's a lot more to Fishbowl than meets the eye. I strongly recommend on-site training. Fishbowl support team is excellent. Fishbowl is a great value.

Cons

Setting up plug-ins have been challenging. We're a Mac shop and there are a few issues with the client app, but in the end, Fishbowl's Mac application works just fine.

I loved the simplicity and how the different modules are communicating simultaneously. I appreciate the fact that we were able to continue using QB because that is what we have used till our manufacturing needs began; that alone reduce the cost of implementing a whole new ERP system

It is very easy to use and get started and running...great interface to Quickbooks! We have been able to easily use the FB for our production environment and use it way beyond just for inventory!

Cons

The reporting...the inability to create ad hoc reports without knowing SQL. Reports are very difficult to customize without help from a FB. It is also limited on the scheduling in a manufacturing environment.

Pros

It can do most everything we want for little cost - purchasing, work orders, inventory. If set up properly the purchasing function is great, work orders are created - but following work orders can be difficult. Inventory is great/easy.

Cons

If a mistake is made - you cannot back track and it appears to screw up the system some. It is not "intuitive" on how to handle the work orders and looking for help on "wiki" - that does not answer the question many times. You cannot talk to an experienced employee there. I think turn over must be high there - because many times when you do get a live person - i know more then they do about fishbowl.

- The lack of recognition of special characters for SO and PO numbers. It causes problems when running SO to PO margin reports.

Utilizing the all of the features, reports, and support of this system will help your company grow to be successful. Being able to make groups for customers is extremely helpful especially in the field that I'm in because we have state contracts and different pricing structures for different customers.

Cons

The thing that I like least about this product is that it runs extremely slow. We have about 8-15 users and sometimes it's a painful process. If it was ran on the cloud it would be much more efficient.

It is very easy to use, customer service is very quick and helpful in solving problems. They go above and beyond to help figure out what the problems are.

Cons

It doesn't work well with QuickBooks Online, other than that we have no problems. I don't like that you have to export several times a day to get your info into QBO.

It does mostly everything our business needs. Customer rep is a wonderful support tech and is always willing to help no matter how easy or complicated the issue might be. I've only recently joined this company and started using Fishbowl so I'm still in a learning curve, but Travis has helped me get a grasp of the software and is always very friendly.

There are a lot of bugs that take up my time during the day to fix. However, support is always there to help.

The software has greatly streamlined and centralized our inventory management and purchasing systems.

Pros

The software streamlines a lot of decision making in terms of what stock is needed when. Even with our system where the majority of parts we have are non-sales items, being able to track a system from start to finish is incredibly helpful.

Cons

Our units involve a lot of custom features, and the software isn't as intuitive for situations like that. We don't carry stock of our final products, just our raw materials, and while the program is able to handle this, it's clearly not designed for that scenario.

Works with Mac, Qb online, and Amazon FBA. Lots of features. Paid training was comprehensive. Overall it has solved many of our inventory issues.

I really do want to like the software but some days I am sitting there pulling my hair out. There are little glitches that do not seamlessly integrate all of the different features together. Our poor bookkeeper has had a really difficult time because there are so many discrepancies during the import to QuickBooks online which makes reconciliation a nightmare. Numerous other bugs along the way that requires a support call. The biggest gripe I have is that their support is hit or miss. Sometimes we get a call back within 10 minutes sometimes it's two days. I really thought they had it figured out because they went to a ticketing based system which seemed to improve things. However I'm on day two of waiting on a call back as I write this...

Had a lot of advanced features, which, if set up and used correctly, could make a business more organized and proficient.

Very misleading company that does not have the customers best interest in mind. The software layout is quite difficult to navigate and understand. Claims to integrate well with Quickbooks, but you will constantly find things which are not transferred. They give you a demo bike company system to start out and no instruction on how to start a fresh company or to connect it with quickbooks. We also came across a "bug" in their system which doubled our customers grand totals on sales orders & invoices. Customer service is unwilling to try and make things right. We attempted to get our money back after 45 days and are not being heard. Fishbowl does not care about their customers, after they are past their (hidden) 30 day return policy.

The customer support team. Our rep from the plug-in/integrations team was a HERO. We were having all kinds of issues on our side with IT and he helped trouble shoot and walk us through all the places things could be going wrong until we were able to complete the integration. Highly responsive and committed to our success.

Cons

There are a lot of touch points that can have issues unless you have someone to help you steer through them all, it can be frustrating/time consuming. Once resolved - wonderful solution for inventory management.

Ease of use and friendly UI, Great customer service. Solid Quickbooks link, MYSQL database makes the program run alot better

Cons

Seeing as its not geared to specific industries. We found it complicated to do some of the things we do on a daily baisis. This required us to find our own loopholes to make our operations fit the software

Easy to use and to train other users. Has many features that make day to day activity easy. I love the chat feature and it was very valuable when I was new to the software to be able to get quick answers.

Cons

It is very frustrating when we have an "urgent" issue that we never know when FB is going to call back after we contact by phone. We play phone tag and sometimes because of this I many not get to talk to someone for several days due to "phone tag."

The basics were fairly easy to learn. I like how user friendly it is and that if you make a mistake you can always void it to fix it.

Cons

Sometimes there are glitches. Also, it can be overwhelming and sometimes I have to think about what I need to do before I can find it on Fishbowl. Also, I don't like how the parts and products don't sync with each other when you duplicate it.

I do think that the software is easy to use, but I've never used another inventory system. the system was not designed for food products which we use it for

Cons

The customer support chat is useless. I have never had them be able to fix a problem. they always point you to their phone support. The phone support does not have a live person. you MUST leave a message for them to call you back, which could take between 24-48 hours, which is not always ideal when you have a problem. Once they call you back, they can usually help, but it's just not timely
