Fishbowl Manufacturing Software


 

Fishbowl is a business automation and inventory management platform for small to midsize companies. It integrates with QuickBooks accounting and offers inventory control, material requirements planning (MRP) and job shop floor control/manufacturing execution.

It is an inventory-centric system, with features for barcoding, asset management, raw materials management, cycle counting and customized reporting. The system also automates the quoting, ordering and purchasing processes. The work order system enables users to create and share work orders for a variety of tasks.

Fishbowl offers training and support resources through its training videos, online tutorials, in-house specialists and more. Fishbowl’s integration with QuickBooks allows users to integrate manufacturing, sales, and distribution processes with back office accounting. Additionally, it also integrates with third-party accounting, shipping, e-Commerce and merchant services.

Support says they have no resolution. This system destructed my financials in two weeks. Fishbowl does not know how to fix their bugs. We had discovered over 500K in sales orders not invoices and over 1.2 million in duplicated vendor bills created. Run. Save your money Fishbowl is the worst company I have ever worked with. They have no regard for their customers or how their software jeopardized their business. RUN. RUN FAST

Easy to use. Nice looking platform. That is really it. Nothing positive to say- honestly hard to think of anything

Cons

Does not integrate with QB- watch out for units of measure conversion. Forces you to triple enter sales orders. Does not work with Magento 2. Does not work with dropships. Dropships are not linked to original sales order instead or PO. The sales order is “ghosted” and placed on a bid request with a different sales order number causing sales orders that in invoiced. Only way we caught error was due to our KPI’s being so out off. Does not work with Amazon.

Cons

Forecasting inventory purchases is impossible, there is only a simple reorder calculation but no ability to project out based on forecasts and through multiple layers of BOMs

We added Fishbowl to our Quickbooks and it has been a huge improvement. It lets you do so many things that you could not previously with only Quickbooks. It is super simple to use and the implementation has been easy. Our rep has been extremely helpful and very patient! He answers emails very quickly and is always willing to schedule time to meet to go over specific issues and questions. We are fairly new to Fishbowl but happy so far!

Cons

Unfortunately some of the reporting capabilities are limited in that you cannot customize them yourself. It does not allow you to add or delete columns/data. In order to do so, you have to request a quote, wait for a response and then pay for a custom report.

The inventory module is better than QB mainly because you can allocate and commit a product. FB is continuing to improve their software.

Cons

The reports and the frustration of data having to be fixed which requires calling FB and not knowing when you will get a phone call back. Once you get your call back the staff is very knowledgeable.

Pros

It is fairly straight forward and easy to use in general. Navigating around the modules is simple and intuitive.

Cons

Not being able to build my own ad-hoc reports is a big drawback. I'd like to select various data already in the system to report on besides what the preloaded reports are. I'd hate to pay for a custom report that I might want to reformat down the road with more or less data.

Helps the various departments of our company work together better.

Pros

One of the team members was my point of contact for our recent issue. We started upgrade at close of business and ran into issue late in the night. The upgrade process had been test driven successfully on the new target servers prior but something in the tag data at the moment of upgrade caused a failure. We opened for business the next AM dead in the water. They were excellent in his handling of the issue and giving it the attention we needed as our business was on hold due to the issue. The DB Tech that worked on the problem was also on point in the solving of the issue.

Cons

Only cure for bugs is full upgrade. Given that we have many custom reports it does not make it an easy option. Would like to also see support for iReport as it is bundled with your product but discontinued on it's own. Lastly, would like to see a solution that would create true "Admin" level accounts. We have in house admins that get all rights but cannot affect "Company" (and other misc) settings without using the factory "Admin" account.

I really like how detailed oriented Fishbowl can be. The products we make require numerous stages to complete each build. This software allows us to properly track all the necessary items in real time to ensure our costing is as up to date as possible.

Cons

I have not worked with the product long enough yet to have any complaints. Right now, the biggest worry is getting used to the terminology of the new system and getting comfortable enough to fully utilize the product.

The interface is easy to use and to understand, it has some good features. Since is a local software, it is fast for simple operations.

Cons

It says that it works with Magento, Shopify and others, but it DOES NOT. Fishbowl is a local software, there is no real time updates and it can sync with your store. Customer service is also SUPER slow to reply (usually 2 or 3 days) and they never have an answer. One time Fishbowl was only importing 85% of my online orders and the customer service rep told me "well, 85% is pretty good". Really??

It guides you through each step. You can't skip to the next without completing the step you're in. It probably has many more functions than what we're currently using, but as we learn, we are adding to our knowledgebase and making our reporting and daily functions easier.

Cons

Would like to have a ship to address and customer PO # printed on the pick list. We have some vendors with multiple addresses and I have to hand write those things on the pick list as a reference.
On our packing list, our zip code is cut off to just 4 digits.
We use locations for Loans and Gifts and use a TO to move items. In the notes section, we put the details of whom it went to and the person requesting it. When we run a report, those details do not show up, so we have to click on each TO to see the details. This takes time when we are looking for one specific Loan or Gift and where an item went.

I used it to pull information for an audit, but I can see that this could help a growing business to manage incoming inventory and where that inventory is eventually used for a product ultimately sold.

Pros

I used a license from one of my manufacturing clients. FIshbowl made it easy to find information for transactions that were flagged in QuickBooks for my review. This application seemed to integrate very well and was fairly simple for a new user in myself.

Cons

Pulling some reports was a bit slow and exporting of data to Excel was not in a very useful format (it required some cleaning up for my purposes)

It is very easy to Navigate and provides several detailed reports that will be extremely useful company wide. It provides visibility and traceability. I love the dashboard feature so all users can have a quick visual reference of what is happening throughout the business. I'm sure more pros will surface once we go live with the software.

Cons

I can't pinpoint any exact cons yet as we have not gone live. We have some guesses as to where we might meet a couple bottlenecks, such as when we ship partial orders, and the lines are split on a sales order, it may make it look to busy and information may become complicated to interpret. We also aren't sure how it will work with our customer and Vendor blanket PO's to release new qty's added or depleted.

Competence of support. I don't think I've ever called in and been able to speak to someone right away (that would be nice) but I always get a call back within an hour. The support techs always fix the issues and always take the time to work through things carefully, regardless of time.

Cons

Frequent hang ups with Quickbooks connection forces us to restart FB server. Overall database slowness for MS Access reporting.

Customizable, Very good syncing w QuickBooks, Easy to understand the workflow, Friendly UI, Easy to set up (clients)

Cons

Serial number tracking is finicky and has some bugs as well as create auto PO features also has some quirks

Very easy to use and cost effective. For the $, hard to beat. While there may be most elaborate systems out there, FB provides great ease of use and their support team, especially Travis give great support when the inevitable problem rears it's ugly head.
