Yotpo is expensive but necessary.

Pros

Yotpo is relatively easy to set up and works well at collecting reviews with custom attributes (size - too big, perfect, too small) etc. Customers are able to leave reviews in the email or online. They have good analytics and sentiment analysis that allows you to understand when customers leave a bad review (even if the star rating is high).

Cons

Yotpo is okay for the price because its the leader in the space. However, for their team and funding size I expected much more. Updating custom attributes is a terrible experience, and if customers leave a bad review that is not true, Yotpo can't do anything about it. There is no way to submit proof that the customer was wrong leaving businesses powerless against lies.

One of the great tool for review automation & curation

Pros

We have used this tool to collect reviews and ratings for our products. The integration part was very easy and we can select how and when to send the invitation to write the reviews. We can even send mass invitation to our customers by uploading an excel sheet to write a review. The automation part is really very good where after successfully delivering an order we can set the system up that way where it will send the review email. We can even encourage our customer to post images of the products along with their review and then we can tag that image with the actual product in our site. It really helps make a product very much worth. We can customize the email templates as per our theme and taste.

Cons

I have not found any major cons which i need to share here.

Overall I have had a very positive experience with Yotpo. Its a versatile program that helps us connect with our customers and get some honest feedback. They have some great integrations that help us show potential customers how transparent we are as a company and has been vital to our growing business.

Have been using for 4+ Years

Pros

When we first started out, Yotpo was a free service as they were trying to gain market share. The platform and user interface has always been easy to use and has allowed our small business to show potential customers what real customers have to say about the products they are ordering. Reviews are one of the most important factors for decision making and Yotpo has made gathering reviews in natural and unintrusive ways easy and effective.

Cons

Though it may be a little pricey, the functionality and the quality of the interface are worth while, for small businesses who don't have products in stores, reviews are a necessity so it may not be the cheapest option but from our experience it is worth the money.

Can get confusing

Pros

I like that it's a one stop shop to see customer reviews it allows the customer to have their say by posting a review with both star rating then writing a description of what they liked an ddid not like about the product.

Cons

The back end is sometimes hard to figure out you cant seem to find certain reviews once you've seen them live on your website. It's highly sensitive and tends to block out key words sometimes unnecessarily.

Who doesn't need reviews!

Really happy with it.

Pros

YOTPO makes it much easier for our customers to give us feedback. Since switching to YOTPO, our reviews have increased greatly over our previous method.

Cons

Integration of the automated reviews could have been a little smoother. But that really is more because of how our eCommerce platform works. Once the integration is completed, it will be awesome!

Yotpo - a HUGE added value

Pros

We use Shopify and so it was very easy to integrate (with a tiny bit of help from a programmer friend) and the integration seems to be seamless for the most part.
Its very easy for our customers to leave product reviews on our site and that has changed everything for us! The added value of in-line customer reviews on our website has increased buyer trust and made all the difference for our sales and growth.

Cons

It wasn't super easy to install/activate/integrate with my current software. There was a "walk through" but it was above my head and I did have to rely on a programmer to make sure the integration of Yotpo and our Shopify webstore was actually seamless. I would have liked a more thorough and easy to understand (for us computer challenged) set of instructions on how to integrate.

Best tool for a startup

Would highly recommend. Far more affordable and better service than their enterprise competitors.

Pros

Easy to set-up and onboard - especially for a start-up with limited resources. They’re onboarding and account teams are responsive, helpful and have a brand example for every “what if we try this? do you have an example of that?” for every scenario I throw their way. Their developers will jump in and apply the code for you (through a live screenshare so you can tweak together in real time vs drawn out).

Cons

We have had one issue where their widget conflicts with our homepage css (Shopify Template)

I liked how it automated reviews and made it very easy for someone to review the products.

I didn't like that when we had to uninstall it from Shopify, it didn't uninstall itself properly and left widgets and other code on our site.

Slight Advantage, but Losing Market Advantage and Unique Features to Far Cheaper Competitors

We recently evaluated Yotpo for use on our Shopify site, but decided to go with a close competitor (Okendo) instead. We did this mainly because of cost and flexibility. Yotpo has a very opaque pricing strategy which is designed to extract the maximum possible commitment from each merchant. They don't publicly disclose pricing and actively work to obfuscate their rates. Pricing is tiered based on review volume and feature set which means even small merchants will have to spend close to five figures yearly in order to unlock the full potential of the software. There was a time when Yotpos platform may have been able to justify this, but it is borderline extortionate in 2018/2019 .

Pros

Industry best feature set, close to industry best review-generation experience, advanced social media tools etc

Cons

Hugely expensive plans with mandatory contracts, deceptive and pressure-driven pricing and sales strategy, close competitors offering much better value per $

Great Experience

Our customer service experience has grown so much since installing Yotpo. Our customers now have a seamless and more pleasant shopping experience, even when things go wrong. We have also experienced great customer service care from the Yotpo team.

Pros

It is a pretty easy to navigate software, very helpful for product development research, and a source of communication for customers and our customer service team. Our team is able to learn how to improve and provide products that fit our consumers based on comments/ reviews. It has also become a streamline to communicate with customers who are dissatisfied or missing items and have not reached out.

Cons

Although it is an easy software to navigate, after calls with our rep there are so many undiscovered features. We definitely appreciate our check in calls to be able to learn more and more about Yotpo and all the things they offer!

Likely the most full featured review aggregator and feedback system available.

The customer support and on-boarding experience has been very good.

Pros

From a features standpoint, yotpo stood out from the other options we looked at. In practice, it seems that the service lives up to it's claims and we've only just scratched the service on all the things they offer.

Customer support has been prompt and accommodating and there have been no hidden fees or unexpected charges for "custom work", etc.

Setup is well documented and flexible enough for developers to sink their teeth in.

Integration with other services is good.

Cons

Product feeds and updates. The way Yotpo handles new products vs product updates via two seperate uploads is strange. In my mind, it would all be handled by the same upload. Why not adopt a standard feed system like what google and FB use?

Transferring our existing reviews was mostly smooth, but there were a couple hiccups for grouping child product reviews under a parent.

Also, our SKUs included a '-' character which had to be replaced with another character as this was not allowed by yotpo's system. A strange requirement.

We have devs in-house to tackle these little hurdles, but if you don't have anyone technical on hand YMMV.

Always use Yotpo for reviews

We need to add reviews to our ecommerce customer's sites. Has to be easy to deploy through major ecommerce platforms like Magento, Shopify and BigCommerce. Has to show up in Google search results. Has to have the ability to easily reply to reviewers within the platform. Must have good customer support should anything go wrong. Yotpo has all of this and more.

Pros

Customer support is always outstanding and tools are easy to deploy and use.

Cons

Don't really have any issues with software.

Integral part of any rounded E-commerce Strategy

Pros

Yotpo has been crucial for us. We knew that product reviews were a missing piece of the puzzle but we struggled to bring them in for years. With Yotpo we were able to gather nearly 1500 reviews in our first year!
This has resulted in a huge increase in customer confidence and in turn increased sales.

We also recently added the Visual Marketing component which is now helping us to solve another long standing issue, gathering user generated content.

Would highly suggest Yotpo's services as they may be one of the best values in the game.

Cons

Would make some slight changes to the way reviews can be shown on our website.
