### Most mentioned pros

- The OneTab™ documentation and the seamless integration between the EHR and Practice Management have noticeably streamlined our patient flow, allowing us to handle everything from complex exams to retail billing within a single, unified database. - The "Fix One, Break Two" Cycle: It is a common complaint that a new update will fix a minor bug but inadvertently cause a glitch in a completely different part of the system, such as the scheduler or the prescription module.
- I do not use a clearing house for billing.
- We are an Optometry practice and do not use the ordering sections of the software therefor price calulations and insurance billing can not be used either.

Running insurance claims/reminders/statements is a breeze and super fast with the newest upgrade. I can get my job done hours sooner, which opens me up to help the staff or take on additional projects.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5

#### Pros

There are so many reports to pick from, it makes my monthly reporting to the doctors very easy. If we have issues, we call/email/or direct message support and we hear from them within an hour.

#### Cons

Having to pay for a service every month that we may not use is frustrating. I wish they would remove that additional fee every month. Integration was easy, they sent someone to our office to train the staff and then we had a personal trainer to work with if any issues came up.

Overall, Compulink has been a good experience for our practice. It is very easy to train new team members. You can quickly learn how to move around in the system.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Compulink does a great job of constantly improving their software. The newer updates make the screens much cleaner and save us a lot of unnecessary clicks. We also really appreciate the custom reporting tools, which make it easy to pull the exact data we need when a standard report doesn't cut it. Having everything in one place—where you can jump straight from the patient's exam to the eyewear section—is incredibly convenient. One of the biggest standouts is the support team. It is a huge plus to speak with experienced, long-term staff who actually know the system inside and out, rather than getting passed to someone with limited training. Whenever bugs or issues pop up, they handle them quickly. It is also great to see them actively growing and improving their patient management features.

#### Cons

If you want to tie a resource(like an OCT or Visual Field) to a doctors schedule, its not setup to easily do this for the patient representative.

#### Reasons for choosing Compulink

Compulink was chosen because everything was contained in one package. You could go from the exam bag to optical purchases all in the same application. Some of the products were still in their developmental stage and we would have lost so much functionality that it was not feasible to change

#### Vendor response

Thank you for taking the time to share this! We're so glad Compulink is delivering value for your practice. Feedback like yours keeps our team motivated. Don't hesitate to reach out if there's ever anything we can do to help.

### Research all EHR options before choosing

- Overall rating: 3/5

- Company size: 2-10 employees
- Product usage: Used daily for less than 2 years
- Reviewed: June 2022
- Review source details: This reviewer was invited by us to submit an honest review and offered a nominal incentive as a thank you.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 2/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 2/5

#### Pros

It is nice how many reports can be run in Compulink - almost any list of data/information you'd want to compile, Compulink is able to. It is also such a major player in the industry that everything we've needed to have integrate with it, has been able to do so (Weave, contact lens company sales platforms, etc). Scanning in documents is easy once you have the right/compatible scanner- and they're easy to view and find from the patient's demographics page. Having our billing done through Compulink directly has been convenient.

#### Cons

There were a LOT of learning curves with this system - i.e. we had to purchase a very specific scanner that integrated properly, finding out that their Intake Form was not mobile compatible, how the patient's ledger populates, what data is able to transfer from one exam to the next (most items do, but not things like the patient's occupation, hobbies, PCP, etc.). As doctors- we didn't find the EHR/Exam forms to be very intuitive or as user friendly as we were hoping. Depending on what version you signed up with dictates how much you're able to edit exam form templates.

#### Reasons for choosing Compulink

Cost, Cloud based seemed safer and more reliable than Web/Browser based

### Easy transition, Great training and customer service, Customizable Software to meet all our needs

After 12 years with our last software, we were unaware at how outdated our EHR system had become. Compulink converted a great deal of our data to allow us to access it without having to constantly return to our old system. Overall, the experience was better than we expected as change is always hard. The people at Compulink worked hard to make it as easy as possible for us.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Compulink has been a great addition to our practice. The transition team was exceptional and the training incredible as they helped make the process as smooth as possible and continue to help us learn how to better utilize the software. There is so much flexibility with the software in the set-up to make the program work best for our office--picking the right EHR exam format for different types of office visits, the scheduling capabilities. In addition to one-on-one training, the training videos and the help section on the software make it easy to solve any issues that occur.

#### Cons

As with any transition, there are glitches but we fully expected these to happen and Compulink helped us fix these issues as quick as possible.

#### Reasons for choosing Compulink

We liked features of Compulink's software best, the price was competitive, and we felt comfortable with the people at Compulink.

#### Reasons for switching to Compulink

No longer making updates to Practice Director.

### Compulink Orthopaedic Advantage is the best orthopaedic EHR solution!

Very well-integrated and coordinated implementation team. Although [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] was primarily responsible for our implementation, everyone on the implementation and support teams have been very helpful and friendly. I have not had any bad or difficult interactions with anyone at Compulink.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Although, the software was originally written for ophthamology, Compulink has done a great job adapting to orthopaedic surgery with Compulink Orthopaedic Advantage. The visual diagnosis engine function is very helpful for identifying and documenting specific pathology in various anatomic regions. The software easily accomodates the physician/provider preference for input to the EHR. There are template for dictation, drop-down menus, or manual entry (scribe). Microsoft Remote Access for Compulink Cloud Advantage implementation was very easy and device friendly. I am able to access Compulink from literally anywhere with internet access on my iPad, Windows, Mac, Android, laptops, etc.... I was able to easily and effectively implement DICOM MWL to manage my patient workflow with in-office X-ray and cloud PACS.

#### Cons

Customization of template features is somewhat difficult to do on your own, if you are hands-on. The technical and implementation support is outstanding and will customize for you. There are still some bugs that need to be fixed and features that I would like to see implemented. Web Registration is tedious and slow for patients. All patient outcome measures are displayed and may not necessarily be relevant to the patient. Need to be able to designate the outcome measures for each particular patient. Caveat: I did not have my own IT person. I implemented the software, myself.

#### Reasons for choosing Compulink

Best value for full featured EHR with patient reminder (Practice Watch), Web Registration, and VDE (Visual Diagnosis Engine) with lowest cost for implementation on the Cloud. Orthopaedic-specific features are built-in.

### COMPULINK- TOTAL PRACTICE CONTROL

Overall, my experience with Compulink has been a journey of functional excellence balanced by technical demands. On the clinical side, it’s a powerhouse; the ability to customize the interface to my specific specialty is a breath of fresh air compared to "one-size-fits-all" platforms. The OneTab™ documentation and the seamless integration between the EHR and Practice Management have noticeably streamlined our patient flow, allowing us to handle everything from complex exams to retail billing within a single, unified database. When the system is dialed in, it feels like a precision tool that truly understands the nuances of my daily workflow. However, that power comes with a significant "complexity tax." The software isn't exactly intuitive out of the box, and the learning curve for new staff can be steep and unforgiving. While I love the customization, getting the system "just right" required a massive upfront investment of time and effort. I’ve also found that updates can be a double-edged sword—bringing necessary features but occasionally introducing frustrating glitches that disrupt our rhythm. In short, Compulink is an indispensable asset for any practice that demands total control over its data, provided you have the patience and technical appetite to maintain such a sophisticated engine.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

1. Extreme Customization (The "Have It Your Way" Factor) The most praised feature of Compulink is its flexibility. Unlike "cookie-cutter" EHRs that force you into a specific workflow, Compulink allows you to: Modify layouts: You can literally drag and drop elements of the patient chart to match how you actually talk to patients. Build specialty screens: Whether it’s sports medicine or optical retail, you can remove unnecessary fields (like weight or BMI) to keep documentation clean and relevant. 2. The "One-Screen" Documentation Strategy Compulink’s OneTab™ layout is a game-changer for clinic efficiency. Everything at a glance: Nurses and technicians can often complete 90% of their documentation on a single screen without clicking through endless tabs. Favorites & Presets: Users love the ability to set up "Favorites" for common diagnoses or treatments, which reduces charting time to under three minutes for many routine visits. 3. Seamless Practice Management & Optical Integration For practices with a retail component (like Optometry), Compulink is a "one-stop shop." Inventory & Billing: It handles the clinical exam, the glasses/contacts order, and the insurance claim in one fluid motion. Single Database: Because the EHR and Practice Management (PM) share one database, there is no "lag" or "syncing error" between the front desk and the back office. 4. AI-Driven Efficiency The 2026 versions of Compulink have leaned heavily into SMART Workflow® and AI features: Automated Status Tracking: The system automatically identifies which room a patient is in and what the next step is, reducing "dead time" in the hallway. Coding Assistance: The built-in "Standard of Care" engine helps suggest codes based on your documentation, which helps maximize reimbursement while staying compliant. 5. Stellar Support & Stable Pricing While software glitches are a reality for any platform, Compulink’s customer service consistently receives high marks. Quick Response: Users report that technical support is knowledgeable and easy to reach by phone. Predictable Costs: In an era of "subscription creep," users appreciate Compulink’s relatively stable and transparent invoicing.

#### Cons

1. The Steep Learning CurveCompulink is not a "plug-and-play" system. New users often find the interface overwhelming because there are so many buttons, tabs, and options. Training Intensity: It takes significant time for staff to become proficient. Many practices report that the initial training period feels too short for the amount of information they need to absorb. Non-Intuitive Navigation: Some tasks that should be simple (like finding a specific patient ledger or modifying a table) require navigating through multiple layers of menus that don't always follow modern "web-standard" design logic.2. "Update Anxiety" & GlitchesBecause the software is frequently updated to keep up with medical regulations, users often deal with "version instability." The "Fix One, Break Two" Cycle: It is a common complaint that a new update will fix a minor bug but inadvertently cause a glitch in a completely different part of the system, such as the scheduler or the prescription module.Workflow Disruption: Updates can sometimes reset custom settings or change the location of icons, forcing the staff to relearn their "muscle memory" workflows.

#### Vendor response

We really appreciate the kind words, and for taking the time to leave such a detailed review! It's great to hear that the flexibility is making a difference for you. Thanks for being part of the Compulink community, and we're here whenever you need us.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Easy to use for billing, EHR and scheduling. I’ve used other EHR systems and softwares and Compulink is simple to use with many features. It’s can be customized to an extent for the cloud option.

#### Cons

The software goes through update so far once a year. Usually the updates in improvements are not as noticeable to me as the glitches that result from the updates. A little annoying.

#### Reasons for choosing Compulink

Price point and I had used the system before while working for another optometrist. I was familiar with the product but almost a decade prior.

Choosing an EMR provider for my surgery center was a decision that I put a lot of time and consideration into. I spoke to at least 5 or 6 other companies and did my due diligence. At the end of the day, it was an easy choice and one that I don't regret. I frequently recommend Compulink to my colleagues, highlighting the high degree of customization, increased productivity, ease of use, excellent customer service, and budget friendliness. Our adjoining clinic utilizes a non-Compulink provider for their practice management and another non-Compulink provider for their EMR; both of which don't hold a candle to Compulink. I am looking forward to eventually getting our clinic switched over to Compulink as well.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

1. Highly customizable! No ASC is alike and we appreciate that Compulink allows us to make direct modifications to our workflow (overall layout, documentation, printable forms, etc.) as we see fit without having to jump through hoops. 2. Increase in Productivity/Efficiency. As a result of implementing Compulink in our ASC, we've been able to create a process that works very well for us. Whereas it used to take 2 full-time Front Desk Receptionists to prepare patient charts, we now have 1 Receptionist who handles this task. 3. Ease of Use. Our nurses and technicians find Compulink easy to use because a majority of their documentation can be done on one screen and they can set up Favorites to chart quickly. It's simplicity allows for us to quickly teach new employees and/or agency staff how to use the program. 4. Customer Service. We don't need support from Compulink very often, but when we do, we can always count on a quick response from very helpful, engaged customer service advocates. 5. Budget friendly with straight-forward invoicing and stable pricing over the years, even in the face of the pandemic and subsequent inflation. 6. Stability. Many of the Compulink employees that helped get my former surgery center up and running on their platform are still with the company. From a management standpoint, this is important for two reasons: One, I know who to turn to when I need assistance and two, a low turnover rate within their company speaks volumes!

#### Cons

In the past there have been issues when updates were made to the system. One of these incidents resulted in a significant loss of data and we had to use paper charts until it was fixed. However, with that being said, it's been quite a while since we have had any update-related issues and it appears to be resolved.

#### Reasons for choosing Compulink

Customizable. Budget-friendly. Attentiveness of sales team.

We have been using Compulink since 2011. We first rolled it out to our 36 clinics; we later migrated our ASC from another leading EHR platform to Compulink and haven't looked back. This software has the ability to replace all others. PM, EHR, optical, billing, etc. there isn't a need to have several different programs throughout the practice. The support is fantastic and there is absolutely service after the sale. They are constantly improving the product and have some exciting things on the horizon.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

Compulink's EHR software provides everything we need to run our practice. From optical retail all the way up to our ASC, Compulink has the ability to be your one stop shop.

#### Cons

Originally, our installation of Compulink was self-hosted and updates were a little rocky but two years ago we migrated our installation to the "Compulink Cloud" which is hosted in AWS. Hands down one of the best decisions we've made.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

The functionality, flexibility, and extensive nature of the software is impressive to say the least. It is an affordable option that makes practice management and billing simple. There is a bit of a learning curve, but every person from sales to customer service has gone out of their way to help in all areas needed and to consistently respond to support requests. Training new people on the software has gone well. It is a powerful program that Compulink is consistently working to improve, listening to user feedback. I am relieved we went with Compulink, as we recently had Tsome rather extensive growth. the program has handled our growth without a hiccup and allowed things to continue running smooth. Perfect? No. Worth it? Definitely. Overall, they are highly recommended. There is not one area where Compulink promised and did not deliver. Their staff is professional, the tech support is knowledgeable, and everyone works hard to ensure our success. So thankful for Compulink!

#### Cons

Learning curve is moderate to heavy depending on experience, but comparable to the powerful nature of the software. Having some minor issues with insurance information no importing from the web registration.

There is little it doesn't do. From patient registration, insurances, optical and communications, it's all there. There is so much there, that it can get confusing and unless you use it consistently you may spend time to relearn.

#### Cons

I believe the way the referral and general communications are done could be improved. The faxing system could be better with a verification of success. There are too many templets and yet just simple letters are difficult. I'm only involved in exams and not optical or billing. I wish there was a really stripped down version that would be less expensive.

#### Reasons for choosing Compulink

I had used Maximeyes in my previous practice. We out grew that system and switched to Compulink. When I set up a new office, I didn't want to learn a new system. That would have been more stressful.

Compulink is an all-inclusive software that allows us to run all aspects of our business; paperless charts, inventory, financial reports, etc. That being said, the more complex that a system is, the more "glitches" that occur. I understand and accept this. We've been using Compulink since 2012. It would be nice to have a "overview" of what we could be utilizing, doing better (or incorrectly), etc.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The ability to customize it to suit the needs of our multi-practice/multi-doctor organization.

#### Cons

The continuous glitches that happen after an update. Makes me reluctant to do the update when it is launched. I also wish that the lens definition table was either updated more frequently or gave us the ability to edit Compulink owned lenses when they are incorrect.

#### Reasons for choosing Compulink

The ability to customize and how detailed the system is.

#### Reasons for switching to Compulink

OPTO was a very simple DOS based software that worked for us at that time. Once technology changed and offices were going paperless, it was time to switch!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

In general the product is easy to use. If you are unsure of what to do or where to go in the software, the Help feature allows you the ability to look up key words to get the answer. Their support team is also great to work with. The ability to customize screens and the VSP integration are huge positives for our office too.

#### Cons

Updates to fix certain bugs often cause other areas of the software, that were working fine, to glitch. The ledger can be confusing and the receipt for the patient is hard to understand for staff and patients. The tables can be a little intimidating at first, but once you understand how they work, it becomes easier.

#### Reasons for choosing Compulink

Compulink was chosen because it was an all-in-one system that has practice management, optical and EHR. Also the fact that it is customizable was a plus for the office.

### Compulink, The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.

Compulink is a great piece of software and very well thought out. But what draws you to this particular EHR software can also deter you. Let me explain, Compulink's main selling point is how customizable it is and how easy it is to switch from paper charts to EHR. But what they don't tell you is that the more you customize the software the less support they can truly offer and the more work you have to do to keep it all up to date. Don't get me wrong, Compulink's support staff is some of the best support people I have ever worked with. But the more you customize the less they can really do to help you. So the customization ends up being both a blessing and a curse. Overall, I would say that I would recommend the software mostly because of the great support and the fact that they do try and listen to you when you ask for a change in how the software fundamentally works. It just takes some time to get used to just how very different this EHR software really is compared to most other's available.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

I think the best thing I like about the software is the ability to write small "smart scripts" AKA "smart functions" in the EHR software that allows you to do many different things and even automatically fill out certain parts of the chart for the nurse and/or Doctor. There is also some printing functions that allows you to customize and print out specific letters to the patient and automatically fills in the patient's details or whatever you need really. The "screen builder" within the software is also very easy to use and makes customizing the software to how you want it to look very easy to do.

#### Cons

As I stated before, the customizations that you are encouraged to make can also cause huge issues in the functionality of the software. If you mess up your layout, the ramifications to the stability of the EHR software can be huge.

Software Support is amazing They are top notch and always provide a solution in a timely manner.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I like that the software is customizable by the end user. I also like that optical inventory and Rx’s are in the same software and included on the patient ledger as most other systems do not have this functionality.

#### Cons

Updates that are released with errors. It is frustrating to upgrade to a new release and have to learn all the new features and then have to call support several times to report and fix errors. It is even more frustrating when there is no solution to an error and you have to wait for a fix and put up with the errors until the fix comes out. .

#### Reasons for choosing Compulink

Integrated optical and practice management.

#### Reasons for switching to Compulink

Old Alcon system was no longer supported

We were one of their first customers in the late 80's. Several times we have looked at and reviewed other industry software and keep coming back to Compulink as the best for our situation. As with any software company, you wish the programmers would spend a week in our practice watching us use their product to understand the pitfalls and redundancies they have created that annoy on a daily basis.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5

#### Pros

Scalable and customizable. We have multiple offices and have the ability to schedule patients from anywhere to anywhere. There is a robust inventory control section that we use a lot. It is designed specifically for our profession that has lots of uniques facets and needs.

#### Cons

The web registration feature is cumbersome and not patient friendly. We finally had to go to another solution.

We can better track sales and production and save time with patient online registration to maximize the patient history. The data in and out of Compulink to our refracting system ELIMINATES transcription errors for spectacle prescriptions.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

The EMR is easy to use and integrates well with our pre-testing equipment and automated refracting data. Even the standard, non-customized EMR templates work very will with creating "data norms" to make charting very efficient. I am very pleased with the very detailed online patient registration and health history. It saves a TON of time and allows us to show a very detailed patient history if a record were ever audited by insurance.

#### Cons

The minutiae of adding spectacle lens products is complicated.

#### Reasons for switching to Compulink

OfficeMate was terrible.
