### Most mentioned pros

- They review our KPI's and show us how we compare to other OP Peds practices and they keep us in the know for any new services that become available, updates on important issues that matter to us and they all have the experience and skills needed to assist with most questions.
- It has helped us streamline operations, improve communication with families, and stay organized as a busy pediatric practice.
- OP offers tools specifically for pediatric care—age-based dosing calculators, Bright Futures templates, vaccine forecasting, and well-child visit tracking.

### Most mentioned cons

- Some of their vendor partners have not lived up to our expectations.
- The program in its many subsequent iterations, tweaks and upgrades has become gratuitously complex and fussy with rather erratic logical flow, non-ergonomic positioning of buttons that could/should have been effectively arranged and color coded, unnecessary shifting of positions and redesigns of working fields and enough ongoing problems to require such frequent calls to OP help that we are now on a first name basis.
- OP crashes with every update and every update causes multiple glitches.

Demos are very nice and promised features sound wonderful. Reality is different. Three years in still waiting for promised enhancements with no due date.

#### Cons

Fragile on the web- promised speeds do not happen Reporting is rudimentary and you must know ancient SQL language to get a report They nickel and dime you for anything you need to meet MU or reporting or other more advanced features. The revenue cycle is 1980's capability and was described exactly that way by the CEO. If going off mainstream software be prepared to add billing and registration staff.

OP has been a tremendous investment for our practice overall. Our providers get done seeing pts at 5pm and are out the door by 5:15pm most days. OP listens to its users and continually make changes to better their products based on what OP clients need and ask for. The license prices are very reasonable compared to other big software companies. The support is the best I have seen and experience over any other company I work with. Excellent follow up on issues, you always know where your ticket is and they respond quickly for urgent issues. The entire team at OP are very professional, courteous and usually able to answer our questions the same day, if not the next day. [sensitive content hidden] in their tech dept has been great to work with and follows up quickly on all outstanding issues. Working with [sensitive content hidden] has been amazing through the years as they meet with us monthly to ensure all of our issues are resolved and if not, what the status is. They review our KPI's and show us how we compare to other OP Peds practices and they keep us in the know for any new services that become available, updates on important issues that matter to us and they all have the experience and skills needed to assist with most questions. We are extremely pleased with our partnership with OP and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to change software vendors to a peds specific solution. We are always available to share one on one feedback as well if needed and have done many shadow visits with prospective OP users. Feel free to request a reference from [sensitive content hidden] antime and I will be happy to assist. Thank you OP for all you do to help us keep our workflows going and for offering such an excellent solution for EMR!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5

#### Pros

We appreciate that Office Practicum is Pediatric specific software. I have seen too many other software programs that charge you for all the features that adult primary care and specialists use. We like the dedicated attention to Peds everyday issues.

#### Cons

I did not like that they did not have a collection module for many years, however, I am very excited that they have finally built one and we are setting it up now and its going to be great to help our collection efforts.

#### Reasons for choosing Office Practicum

Only Pediatric specific EMR software that met the needs of a busy pediatric practice. Pricing was excellent and checked all the boxes of our needs better than any other.

#### Reasons for switching to Office Practicum

Previous Peds software did not keep up with important and needed technological advancements like pt portals and many other features we needed to help maintain our PCMH status and take advantage of other incentive opportunities through the payers.

The software is very user friendly and the report modules are great. We have not even used all that is available such as the MU product and the Portal which I have heard are good too. Yesaly conferences are a great way to meet others on the program and have great classes to pick up new ideas and learn of changes.

Billing reports were a little harder to get used to. Our billing person has no problem but did take a little training.

### OP - Love it

Our doctors love it. They expecially like the ability to prescribe control meds for ADHD electronically (patients love that as well). OP’s customer support is the best of any EMR that we have used. OP is our 3rd EMR and will be our last. They have helpful onboarding and interactive online training. They were very helpful during implementation and system transition. Runs Locally or in the cloud. We run OP in the cloud, but it can be run locally on a practice server. If you have more than one office, you are relying on your internet connection anyway for all ofices where you server is not located. We had local versions of EMRs before OP and that is why we chose the cloud version or OP. We felt they could protect patient data better than we could. In any case if you have multiple offices or are using the cloud version, you want an excellent internet provider and should probably consider having a back up provider in case your primary IP goes down as they all do from time to time.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Office Practicum (OP) is a great choice for pediatricians who want a tailored EMR that handles the nuances of child healthcare well. The pediatric functionality is hard to match, highlighted below. Pediatric-Focused OP offers tools specifically for pediatric care—age-based dosing calculators, Bright Futures templates, vaccine forecasting, and well-child visit tracking. These features reduce manual work and improve clinical accuracy for our providers. Immunization OP handles immunization schedules well, including state registry integration, catch-up scheduling, and alerts for upcoming or missed vaccines. We are in Georgia and OP is interfaced with the GRITS system to automatically upload vaccines given into our state registry. We have 3 offices and moving vaccines from one office to another, if necessary, is a simple process within OP. Growth Charts & Developmental Tracking: OP has CDC and WHO growth charts allowing for seamless tracking of height, weight, BMI, and head circumference over time, which is important for pediatric care. Practice Management: Billing, scheduling, and reporting are integrated with clinical operations. We use our previous software for billing before we switched to OP in 2017, so I cannot comment on the billing package. Customization & Templates: Our providers customize templates to reflect their documentation preferences. The well-visit templates are thorough, with pre-set guidance for age-appropriate screenings and anticipatory guidance. We also created templates for lab batches that providers can layer into other encounter templates when seeing patients so they don’t have to order each lab individually.

#### Cons

Some of their vendor partners have not lived up to our expectations. However, I do prefer them looking for ways to enhance the features and letting me determine if I like the outsourced vendors enough to employ the features.

#### Reasons for choosing Office Practicum

Docs preferred the human interface and that it was tailored to pediatrics.

#### Vendor response

Our goal as a pediatric-specific EHR is to support the unique clinical and operational needs of child-focused care, so we’re especially glad to know that features like age-based dosing, our vaccine management and invetory tools, developmental tracking, and customizable well-visit templates are making a meaningful impact for your team. We're thrilled to hear that your doctors (and patients!) appreciate features like ePrescribing for controlled substances, and that our support and training teams helped make your transition a smooth one. Knowing that OP is your third—and last—EHR means a lot. Thanks again for being part of the OP community and for trusting us to support your care across multiple offices!

Our overall experience with Office Practicum has been very positive. It has helped us streamline operations, improve communication with families, and stay organized as a busy pediatric practice. The system continues to evolve, and we appreciate that OP listens to feedback and makes meaningful updates. #### Pros

Office Practicum is truly built for pediatric practices, which makes a huge difference in day-to-day operations. Scheduling, charting, immunization tracking, and recalls are all intuitive and tailored to pediatrics. The patient communication tools: especially texting, reminders, and check-in—have significantly improved our front desk efficiency and patient engagement. We’ve also seen a positive impact on workflow and patient flow overall. Their support team is responsive, knowledgeable, and invested in helping practices succeed.

#### Cons

Like any system, there is a learning curve during implementation, and some workflows require initial customization to fit your practice style. At times, certain integrations or features may take time to fully optimize, but the team is actively working to improve and enhance these areas.

EMR Review – 18 Years of Experience I’ve been using this EMR system for the past 18 years, and it continues to be a cornerstone of my pediatric practice. One of the standout qualities is that it was specifically designed for pediatrics, which makes a world of difference in day-to-day clinical workflows. The pediatric-specific features—from growth charts to immunization tracking—are seamlessly integrated and truly support the unique needs of our young patients. What’s even more exciting is seeing how the platform evolves. ### Office Practicum has been invaluable for our development.

My practice is relatively new, but I have been working in pediatrics for many years. I used NextGen, Athena, and Epic. I consider myself fortunate because these electronic health records are all excellent; however, my favorite remains Office Practicum, which is dedicated to Pediatrics and follows very well what AAP recommends. The implementation of the system was very well-organized; it was entirely online, and the OP team was always on time and well-prepared on the subject matter. We didn't need an on-site visit. We have the RCM team from OP, and we meet regularly with them online. They have the same attitude: very organized, approachable, and efficient. We received certification as a Patient Centered Medical Home in March 2025, and using the OP system, we were able to generate the necessary reports. We appreciate that OP holds annual conference meetings, which we can attend. This allows us to meet with some of the OP staff, other private practice physicians, and staff who are using OP, learn from the OP conferences, and interact with other OP users. At these conferences, we gain a deeper understanding of OP's electronic health record, as well as the management of private practices. We have great admiration for the OP leadership, and I am thankful to God that I chose to utilize OP electronic health records. Nobody advised me to do it. I selected them after reading extensively about electronic health records, and I found that OP had everything I was looking for, which was later confirmed when I requested a demo. The person who presented the system was incredibly good at explaining it to me. I don't mention her name, because I don't want to leave the other OP members' team out. Office Practicum integrates well with Fl shot, as well as with pharmacies, and with my website, which Remedy Connect designs with our input. I also like Remedy Connect, which is under the OP umbrella. Ah! Now, Office Practicum also features Opie AI. With Opie AI, my life has become easier, and my consultation notes reflect my work better than ever. I can have a conversation in English, Spanish, or Spanglish with my patients, and the note generated by Opie AI will be perfect in English, excluding unnecessary words or subjects not related to medicine. This review is for Office Practicum, but Remedy Connect is now under Office Practicum. I learned about Remedy Connect before discovering Office Practicum, and I have the same feeling—no regrets with my selection. Again, I give thanks to God for both systems each day. I have patients from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, or Ukraine, for example, and because Remedy Connect has the option through Google Translate to switch to 246 languages. I could always refer my parents or teenage patients to the anticipatory guidance by age provided by the AAP in their preferred language. You can check at [sensitive content hidden]. If you are looking for an electronic health record, I hope my description helps you make an informed decision. Of course, do not expect everything to be perfect, but expect that if there is a problem, the OP team will work until they find the solution. Sincerely, Dr. Mylai Garofalo from Pediatric Dream Care.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

We have had Office Practicum from the first day we opened our pediatric practice, Pediatric Dream Care, in Palm Springs, Florida. We love that OP is designed for pediatrics and has been invaluable for our development.

#### Cons

Unable to combine WCV templates notes with the sick visit templates notes, but that is not a big problem. I am managing to open another window with the sick visit template and copy and paste on the WCV with abnormal findings, but it requires extra clicks.

#### Vendor response

Thank you so much for the thoughtful review, Dr. Garofalo! We’re glad to hear that our pediatric EHR has been a great fit for your practice, and that you’re seeing the benefits of both Opie AI, our new AI assistant for streamlined documentation, and RemedyConnect, our solution for patient engagement and practice marketing. We appreciate you sharing your positive experience so thoroughly. We did want to clarify one point you mentioned: OP does support combining well and sick visits within the same note. There’s no need to copy and paste between templates. Our system allows you to document both components in a single note and use the appropriate modifier when billing insurance to make sure you get paid for all of your work. We'll have a member of our team reach out to walk you through the workflow and answer any questions you might have. Thanks again for your feedback — and for being part of the OP community.

It's pediatric-specific. I love the charge entry and the scrubbing part of it for billing. Messaging is great. It's a robust system.

#### Cons

It will definitely take your physicians much longer to do their job. Electronic is not quicker. Don't shortchange yourself with training and e-learning time in advance. Scanning paper, having consults, and creating legacies are tedious and a lot of work. We're still trying to work on this process. With paper, the providers could glance at it quickly and sign off on it. Now, you have to scroll down through everything, and it's a much longer process. Physicians are still spending additional time (hours) in the evenings doing messages and reviewing their scans. Billing statements are not user-friendly. They are hard to understand and explain to a patient. There's too much detail on them. There's no training on the upgrades. You have to figure them out yourself.

#### Pros

The vendor is very helpful and quick to respond with solutions to most issues our office has. The product itself is easy to use and has so many useful tools (like PCMH reports).

#### Cons

The thing I like the least is the updates. Usually there are great new features, but there is also the occasional glitch that disrupt the workflow until it is resolved.

#### Pros

Pediatric specific with embedded Bright Futures features. The vendor is always moving forward with innovation. Seemless conversion to SNOMED> Hopefully, the same for ICD 10!

#### Cons

Delays, delays, and more delays. Please adjust your timeframes to a more realistic date. Ex: OP 14--many months after it was promised.

### Good pediatric-specific product

#### Pros

It's pediatric-specific and able to be customized. It has a lot of ability if the practice is willing to devote the human time and money (not seeing patients) to build. I think all systems require building, but I expected that the templates in a pediatric-based system would have been more fully developed with editing capabilities.

#### Cons

Communication. I would have liked more specific instructions as we prepared to go live, such as dx list completed, how to view these templates, and developing a timeline. It would be scary, but they could have informed us that it would likely take x amount of time to review specific parts, such as templates. It felt like it was just go live, and then build. An alternative way is have a frame and then rearrange and get more.

#### Pros

OP is much more user friendly than other programs. Our local hospital uses Epic and I spend a lot of time searching for different items. OP is easy to navigate and has easy to find tabs for most items.

#### Cons

As with most computer programs, there seems to be glitches with every upgrade

#### Pros

pediatric specific templates and vaccine inventory.

#### Cons

The fact that OP is uni-directional with Florida shots vaccine registry dis-allowing exporting vaccines from florida shots . The general layout of the system has a very small font size making it hard to read, get your self a pair of glasses if you are planning to use OP . The system keeps freezing when I am using it from home and I was told its due to the speed of my wireless internet which means additional cost to upgrade both home and business internet. The schedule for implementation is based upon the availability and the convenience of the trainers, it took me more than 5 months to go live with them and its not because of the intensity of the training its just because they don't have enough trainers. The customer service is of limited help and is mainly for technical support, if you have an EHR question then you have to get in touch with the trainer.

#### Pros

I like the ability to utilize patient information regardless of which office you're currently at, to communicate from a patient's chart with providers, and to send RXs from a patient's chart.

#### Cons

After the most recent update, there seems to be difficulty utilizing the RX tab. For example, when you go into medication from a message, you now have to hit the update tab and then edit to renew a script. Extra steps are needed now. Also, you are unable to delete a medication when inside a message. You have to get out of the message, go to the chart, delete the medication, and then go back into message. Also, we have recently had a lot of problems with the program kicking us out every few minutes.
