Excellent CRM for growing organizations
Through everything from complicated data transfer projects, staff trainings, to optimizing our donation forms - the EveryAction team has been an excellent technology partner for nearly 3 years. We're thrilled to keep working with EveryAction as they are constantly rolling out new features and improvements so we can provide our supporters with best-in-class emails and donation forms to support our cause.
PROSMy organization uses EveryAction primarily for its Fundraising and Digital features: donor management, user segmentation, targeted email, online donation forms, and reporting. It was our organization's first-ever donor database and an excellent investment for our team in our early days. As Comic Relief has grown, and as our digital strategies have become more sophisticated, we've been please to see EveryAction's product evolve and improve along with us. Highlights of the product include it's robust list creating feature, email editor, donation forms, and its reporting center. EveryAction also provides excellent all-around account management - no other vendor we've worked with has been this attentive to our needs and receptive to our feedback.
CONSWe initially struggled to on-board members of our organization to use EveryAction - the produce was likely too sophisticated for staff members who are less tech savvy. In recent months though, we've seen tremendous improvements to their help documentation and webinar offerings which has allowed our staff to train themselves and get one-on-one support after nailing the basics.

Exceptional Features and robust integrations hampered by lack of integrity and bullish business ops
Very poor. The experience was severely hindered by the unauthorized debit, the lack of integrity of Paragon Payment not honoring their price match and the weeks of time wasted trying to get a response to these issues and, ultimately, culminated in our termination of the agreement due to their breach of agreement and trust.
PROSThe app has every feature you could imagine for a fundraising non-profit, is fully extensible and very well laid out - at least for having this many features.
CONSWe signed an agreement, with a 3 month period until the first payment would be made and based on Paragon Payments matching our Stripe fees (which they would match the transaction % but then tried to charge several hundred dollars a year in other 'admin' fees and ultimately would not honor the match). We were also charged on the first month, instead of 90 days out as agreed... they did refund that payment after I brought it to their attention. We chose to terminate the agreement at that point. EveryAction then replied and said they had not breached the agreement from Paragon not matching the stripe pricing as agreed, and we would be held liable for the entire agreement. I reminded them that they had made an unauthorized charge to our account, in direct violation of our agreement.. we are still waiting for their 'legal' team to respond - days later. The bottom line - they have an incredible feature set and if you go in knowing they will try to bully you into fulfilling an agreement that they themselves don't uphold, you'll likely be ok. For us, we are prepared to engage our lawyer in the case they EA doesn't 'see' how they breached the agreement with the unauthorized payment... in addition to the frustration, time and hassle they have caused. It'll be interesting to see how they proceed at this point.

Product is limited and customer service is the worst
Over the past two years, we have helped on partner migrate to EA and two partners leave the EA platform. The functionality of the system is limiting, to say the least. In doing so, we engaged with customer service for a variety of reasons. In the case of onboarding a new client, it was mostly crickets, our questions often went ignored or it was a "whatever" kind of answer. Then just recently we helped a partner migrate from EA to Salesforce because EA was never going to be able to provide the layers and levels of functionality that this customer needed. Our experience was TERRIBLE!! The EA team held the org's data hostage, prolonged the process of migration, and made the customer pay for extra months that they didn't need because of EA's delay. Their responses to our questions were ambiguous, unhelpful and mostly petty. If I could, I would blast how horrible EA is to everyone I know. I promise, as a consultant and a long-time nonprofit professional, I will NEVER recommend this product or this team to any of my clients or colleagues and if I run across people who are on EA, I will do my best to get those orgs to leave EA as soon as possible.
PROSThere was nothing that I liked about the software.
CONS- Reporting is limited - "Lists" are difficult to query and use - Mass editing is impossible - No forward-thinking functions like actions or reminders - Record pages aren't laid out in any usable fashion - "Help Articles" don't help at all - Editing individual data is difficult - Account model is limited = orgs vs. people vs. businesses - Campaign and event hierarchy and construct is confusing

Easy, "glitch free" CRM with lots of features
I was dropped into this system with no training, only having used other CRMs before, and found it overall intuitive to learn and blissfully glitch free - that is, it does what it is supposed to do, and even though it is missing some features I would like or we have to pay more than we want for certain features, I'm very grateful for such an overall reliable and easy to use system.
PROSHaving worked with many different CRMs, I appreciate how reliable EveryAction has been in terms of designing and sending emails to our base and in terms of tracking fundraising.
CONSThey use alternative descriptions of common industry terms and it complicates learning the system at first. There are also certain features like "discount codes" that seem standard on other systems that are missing though the core capabilities are strong.

Overall great supporter engagement tool
I have had a fabulous experience working with everyone at Every Action. Their support staff are knowledgeable about the tools and quick to respond. If they don't know the answer, the know how to find it. The company is proactive in letting clients know about upcoming changes, improvements, or potential outages. And their product development staff are great at reaching out to gather input into future improvements to the tools to ensure they are meeting their client's needs, incorporating our suggestions and requests into their product roadmaps.
PROSEvery Action's supporter engagement tools--specifically email, advocacy, events, and fundraising--are easy to use and to customize to support the organization's mission and branding.
CONSIntegration of the CRM database behind the Every Action tools with other databases is challenging to set up and manage and requires a lot of manual moving of data between tools.

We were evaluating all the tools across a range of needs including email, advocacy, fundraising, events, surveys, core database functions, ease of data integration, and usability. Every Action checked more boxes than the other tools.

Must Have Platform
We use it daily and it is exceptional. We switched off a similar product about 18 months ago and it has been a significantly easier platform to use daily
PROSIt integrates directly into NGP VAN, Zoom, and our Google Suite emails. It also works directly with Mobilize.
CONSIt would be nice to be able to give a larger number of users top tier access without having to consider pricing changes or admin ownership

EveryAction Review - Re: Onboarding
So far it's been great. We're looking forward to fully transitioning using it by the end of November and starting the year onboarding the rest of our staff.
PROSThe cross-team collaborative platform, as well as team-specific customization. We're still relatively new to EveryAction, so this is a current general overview.
CONSSome pages for custom forms might require more technical coding support and in some few instances, forms/design seems bulky or dated. For the most part, the customization allows a flexible, seamless design paired with thoughtful, high functionality on both the external user and administrator end.
Reason for choosing Bonterra Development + Digital
EveryAction covered most of the functions were looking for in one platform. Organizing Director was also familiar with it and recommended it.

Great software, be sure you have the team capacity to learn it
The functionality/ features offered are really helpful and extremely versatile - we use EveryAction as our volunteer management base as well as our donor CRM.
CONSBe sure to dedicate the organizational/company time and capacity needed to customize it for your needs and to align across your teams about how to properly use the systems and get practiced with them. That is the biggest pitfall we've had as an org.

Highly Recommend Using Bonterra Development + Digital
Bonterra Development + Digital (formerly EveryAction) has made managing our records of pledge signers, donors, and our outreach missions extremely simple and pain-free. The database also allows for pulling contact information for targeted emails and mail lists very easily, which we use daily.
PROSWorking for a non-profit foundation that does so much of it's work online, Bonterra Development + Digital has been an excellent tool for me to use. The tools to send targeted emails, create mailing lists, keep track of all online and in-person donations and grants, and providing a system for membership and recurring donations have been crucial to the functioning of our foundation.
CONSI suppose at the beginning it was a tad overwhelming to learn how to use, because there are so many resources, but the Help Center was a great resource and now I feel very comfortable navigating the platform.

Best way to send targeted emails
I like how easy it is to send targeted emails directly from the database. I do not have to upload or move contacts, I can access it and even create exceptions directly from it.
CONSI would love better reporting, specially to find more specific things like folks who took 3 or more actions, instead of just making a list for folks who took at least one action

It's a powerful engagement platform The ActionTag online form system works great out of the box, and is fairly easy to customize if you want to fine-tune your user interfaces and flows User management is made really easy with some powerful tools like quick role comparison and impersonation It's blue
PROSThe performance! Views load fast. Reports update fast. Contacts and user records save automatically for 80% of the attributes you update. And the "Create a List" interface is so performant that I use it just to answer idle questions about the constitution of our database (which is not small). I've used Salesforce a fair amount with a similar sized database; often running reports, you would enter in all the parameters, run it, and then go make a sandwich. Five minutes later, maybe it had run. I never even THINK about how long something will take to run anymore. It's great.
CONSGrowing pains. EveryAction already does a lot, and their product team is expanding what it offers at a fine clip. As a result, features are often released with bugs and/or oversights that probably would have been caught in a more conservatively evolving platform. In a way, this is kind of a sneak Pro, because as long as you take new features with a few grains of salt, you benefit from a pretty agile development schedule. And most importantly, the bugs/oversights have always been functional; security, in my experience, has never been compromised in favor of progress.

An extensive and versatile tool!
We love how extensive EveryAction is. We're able to build extensive profiles for donors, volunteers, and supporters and create highly segmented lists as a result. There are so many tools to use, from reports to analytics, to phonebanks. We're excited about the development of automations and would love to see an option to include steps like texting or removing activist codes as well based on meeting search criteria. The interface is quite intuitive and easy to learn the more time you spend with it!
CONSI wish there were ways we could better integrate with google sheets, for example when someone submits a form on EveryAction we could send the info to a google sheet (besides ticketed events) or have the capacity for us to use a tool like Zapier. It's sometimes difficult to know how we could get more in-depth advice over the phone or zoom from EveryAction. Also the add-ons get quite pricey!

EA is user friendly, built for activism, and a "work in progress".
At Resource Generation we appreciate how user friendly EveryAction is to navigate. Our full staff and many of our member leaders need to use the system to move their work forward, and that hasn't been possible with other systems. EveryAction also uses the language of in person and online organizing throughout its systems which is helpful from a functionality and user adoption standpoint. The values alignment also means the kinds of functions that are built prioritize justice frameworks, such as selecting preferred gender pronouns.
CONSEveryAction is a newer database, and new functions that you might expect to already exist are being built all the time. One example is responses to online forms formerly going directly into a contact record as notes, which is now an optional function. So expect there to be some growing edges for the system. That said, the support team is good about acknowledging what is being built and communicating and mitigating the impacts for users where possible. This is primarily why I scored lower on "Features & Functionality".

Great All-in-One CRM!
I love the system and couldn’t dream of using anything else. It’s very user friendly and helps our organization collaborate between departments with ease!
PROSMy organization uses Everyaction as our CRM. They have recently made some upgrades so now we are able to house all of our fundraising, volunteer management, and digital communications in one system. They also have some cool twitter and email integrations that make it really easy to create online actions for people to take and helps us engage our volunteer base more effectively.
CONSIt can sometimes be hard to get tech support from the company.

Better than NationBuilder
Easy and simple creation of signup forms and donation pages, powerful email tool for our newsletter.
PROSWe switched to EveryAction from NationBuilder and absolutely love it. The user interface is sleek and modern, and its very easy to query based on dozens (hundreds?) of filters, actions taken, demographics, etc. We also use the email tool to send out our newsletter and can quickly and easily make donation & signup pages.
CONSThere's not much I don't like about EveryAction. I wish the email templates were built out a bit more, but that's really it.

Excellent tool for managing donor data for large non-prof organization
The implementation team was absolutely fantastic. Being able to manage multi channel donations such as direct mail and online, major donor data, grants, and reporting data all in one place is a game changer.
CONSThe variety of choices can be overwhelming, and sometimes support tickets are answered by more junior staff (so can be less accurate). Pipeline documentation is really not good, API could use significant revamp as well.

EveryAction is the only database that I recommend for solid fundraising practices
I have used NGP & EveryAction during just about every iteration of my career--for all clients when I was president of my fundraising firm, and now with our state affiliates at LCV. From a fundraising perspective, it doesn't get better than EveryAction. It allows digital fundraising and advocacy to happen effectively in the same place as major donor fundraising, tracks actions, events, etc. Fundraisers can manage call time, set next move tasks, and log all fundraising activities in a smooth and efficient way that helps build for long-term and enduring relationships with the organization.
CONSOver the years there have been bugs, issues with duplicates or other technical issues, but the EveryAction team go out of their way to make sure they troubleshoot and solve these issues.

CONSIn the data transfer from old software to EveryAction, all the organization contacts became people contacts so we can't treat our funders as orgs in EveryAction (i.e. assign a primary contact) unless we delete them all and begin again. The targeted email takes a lot of work to look beautiful and doesn't offer a lot of design options. Would prefer to use a platform like MailChimp but don't think that EveryAction supports the integration.

Super pleased and really enjoy working with the staff.
PROSCloud -base and the ability to work from anywhere. I enjoyed the ability to track projects, events, solicitations, grants management and moves management all in one spot. I also enjoyed the tutorial videos.

more than just your regular donor management software
We rely on a variety of different software to manage different components of our fundraising drives. Suited for both online giving, live event donations, and recurring giving management, I am glad to say that EveryAction provides a well rounded solution that suit a wide variety of fundraising needs
PROSEveryaction provides a wide ranging assortment of complementary services that allow for effective management of fundraising campaigns. The volunteer and logistics management features were ones I certainly did not expect. With these, we are able to manage all elements of our live fundraising events without needing to use any other software to coordinate those tasks. This makes planning very effective and highly streamlined.
CONSWith all these great and sophisticated features, it can be a bit overwhelming during first time use. The learning curve is therefore a bit steep before you get adequately comfortable, but then it pays off at the end with great campaign performance.

Great Customer Service and Easy to Use
I used their campaign fundraising database and found it to be great. They cover all of the fundraising bases I needed.
CONSIt has been awhile since i used this database. I cannot remember any large grievances to report here.

Easy to Use
I love the report customization. In my role I have to submit different reports to different departments, and this lets me easily customize a report for their needs.
CONSRight at this time, I have not had any issues. Everything that was promised has been delivered.
