Great for teachers/schools

I use Google Slides often for small group projects and used it every week during online distance learning. Students were able to work on projects together even though they were at home. I was able to work with the students at the same time that they were online so that I could give constant feedback.

PROS

I love that this product is online and that it can be used by several people at the same time. If you are doing a project and your team members are in other places, it is easy to work online with each other. You can comment, make changes and work as though you are side by side. You can use Google Slides wherever you are - no problem if you forgot to email to it yourself; you don't have to. Wherever you login to your Gmail, you will have access to this product.

CONS

I would love if there were more themes uploaded with the program. However, you are able to go to several different websites and upload a theme that suits you. It's just not as convenient.

Reasons for switching to Google Slides

Google Slides is free and can be used by anyone, anywhere. It can also be used online by several people at the same time, without having to save and email.

Google Slides & Collaboration Features

PROS

The most beneficial feature in Google slides in my opinion is the ability to work with other users in real time. Once the slide presentation is shared you can see even remotely what others are adding and can collaborate by using the comment feature.

CONS

Like most software, there is a cost with Google products to use all of the Applications they have in their application suite and online storage space is limited without purchasing more space.

Reasons for switching to Google Slides

Our company is using Google products for its collaboration features on its products.

Weirdly enough, Google Slides is better than Google Docs

Good enough to replace PowerPoint for almost any slide show we do, with the exception that to this day, working on PowerPoint native is faster when just mocking something up.

PROS

Cloud based is of course helpful, and the feature set is roughly comparable to Microsoft PowerPoint and in some ways better executed -- the auto-snaps of alignment being an example, along with consistency across browsers.

CONS

* The inability to copy material between browsers * The inability to choose a color in an image as the transparent color * The inability to set image compression level or resolution in the app * add pexels & unsplash integrations * better multi-select object capabilities * better master template support

The Joy of Google Slides

Overall very pleased with drive, we use it multiple times a year and I myself am pleased with it, I would recommend it to others.

PROS

I like how modular slides is. its easy to drag and drop. our business relies almost entirely on Google Drive so to have a slides program so easily integrated with our drive works well. As with all things Drive, sharing is easy and effortless, which we used A LOT.

CONS

There could be more options when it comes to transitions. Also formatting multiple text areas could be a little more streamline. Mind you I'm no expert at it (yet) but I don't find it particularly intuitive. Also some sort of snap to grid function to allow multiple text areas to line up nicely would be helpful.

Reasons for switching to Google Slides

Cost and we use Drive FOR EVERYTHING so using it was a no-brainer.

Modern Presentation tool

With my academic activities,I mostly needed Google slides for presentations. It is a free and online tool that can be use easily. We can make slides in anywhere when we needed. That mobility function is very needed today. Because now we have devices that can access internet easily,so these kind of applications should be suit with them. Google slides has made with that task. Another best thing is we can make and edit slides in collaboration with our teammates by allowing them to access it. As the owner of presentation we can allow others to add 'only comments' or to edit if needed. And also it has a function that can questioning about slides(Q&A). Then we can answer them. Google slides can use in both computer and mobile. It is a good thing so we can work with it easily. And also this can be recommend as a secure workplace that we can work with. We can use other Google applications along with this easily and most of photo, video and document formats are support to Slides. When we needed a quick editing(last minute editing) I can say it is really quick with this software. It has so many tools to make the presentation special and professional. When working with this app we should need a good internet connection unless we haven't enabled the offline editing. But in offline editing there are so many limitations. We need to be online moslty. But Google slides still have less effect items and themes. Those functions needed to add more choises to make slides attractive and real.

PROS

Easy to use and completely free software. Mobilty software that can use in anywhere. Can edit quickly(last minute editing).

CONS

Should have a good internet connection. Somewhat less effects and themes available. Need a Google account to use.

Reasons for switching to Google Slides

Easy, intuitive, and useful

Google Slides is incredibly easy to use and makes setting up a slideshow intuitive. I have had colleagues varying in age from 18 to well over 70 using Slides effectively. Many of our students also use the program for their in-class presentations, as it is more affordable than some of the other programs out there and is included for free with GMail accounts.

PROS

Slides possesses all of the things you would expect from a presentation application: there are transitions, sound effects, plenty of professional themes, templates, and easy controls to add images, photographs, or other media. Best of all, Google's standard Slides web program with GMail can be accessed anywhere and is free. Sharing is as simple as clicking "Share" and including any necessary e-mail addresses. Using a theme, I am able to pre-design all of my slides and simply fill in the necessary information. I have been able to use Slides as both a presenting software as well as a means through which to create information presentations to share information with my colleagues.

CONS

Using Slides does require GMail, and this may be restrictive for some users, but GMail is amongst the most popular and well-respected e-mail providers out there. In addition, Google Slides may not have the extensive transitions of other programs, but this is not missed, in my experience.

Reasons for switching to Google Slides

Powerpoint's cost can be prohibitive for some users. Files in Slides are easily opened and accessible for both Slides and Powerpoint users.

Best way to create presentations

I use it to create images, slides and presentations for my teacher training class. And I never lose my effort. It auto saves and I can access it from anywhere in the world. It's the best.

PROS

It's super easy to use. Can create all the stuff with slides. It's very user friendly. I've been using it for more than 5 years now. I create presentation slides and I create images too. Most of the time when I have something simple to create as an image, I just create it in a google slide and save it in picture format. It's super easy for me. I use it most of the times for my little one's school projects. And I am using the google slides for my weekly presentations with my study group in Teacher Training. We all share one Google Slide Presentation and add/ edit the slides as we need. And it's very easy to share as a link or can download it in pptx . Anyone of us can give the presentation as we all have contributed to one Presentation. We can add effects, different layouts, designs and almost everything to the slides to make them stand out. And I can access it from anywhere in the world. And of course work offline and work from my smart phone. That's a big plus.

CONS

I Actually I like everything about it. I never had an issue with it. It's been always super user friendly for me.

Reasons for switching to Google Slides

We were using microsoft powerpoint to make presentation slides since 2005 until I switched to Google Slides. The main reason was that I could work with it from my smart phone, I can access it from anywhere in the world and I never lose my work since it's auto saving everything. and of course for this awesome service I don't even have to pay.

A free alternative to PowerPoint

In short, each program is just as powerful as the other, but Slides is easier to share and work collaboratively.

PROS

If you can use PowerPoint, you can use Google Slides more easily. The idea behind all of the tools are the same and function in much the same way, plus you can usually convert slideshows from PowerPoint to Slides and back with minimal formatting issues. I am a teacher, and every class I present information from at least one Google Slideshow. I find it more user-friendly than PowerPoint for sure, plus it is easier to send to other people and have multiple people editing the same slideshow at the same time on different computers; once a year I have students on one side of the country collaborate with students on the other side of the country to design a product. They have to make a slideshow documenting the process, and Google Slides makes this remarkably simple.

CONS

A small con is that it can be more difficult to insert GIFs into a slideshow than it needs to be. Sometimes I can just copy and paste them like putting in an image. Other times I need to insert the file I saved to my computer like inserting a video. This has improved recently, though. I also play Jeopardy with my students using PowerPoint because Google slides struggles with how I have the PowerPoint "un-highlight" the questions students already answered, but that is a rare tool. When converting a PowerPoint to a Google slideshow, some animations and embedded noises don't convert well, either. If you stick with one format, this isn't a problem.

Reasons for switching to Google Slides

I only use Google products when I can so that everything can be on the same platform (Google Drive) and they can all work together. Google makes very good products that are very user-friendly while being just as powerful as the name-brand Microsoft products. For 99% of people, the Google products are free and have everything they need to have.

Google slides vs. Powerpoint-- a professional perspective

It gets the job done, and is free. Great product and overall experience. Very user friendly, and still powerful from beginners to experts in many fields and industries.

PROS

The primary driving force for out team to use this software was the fact that it was free. Although we could afford PowerPoint (we used it in the past), we realized PowerPoint was an unnecessary expense as Google already offers all the tools we need for success. With this software, we are able to bounce ideas off in our weekly meetings easily due to the easy to use nature of the software. Would recommend for teams with no budget.

CONS

PowerPoint is much more powerful than this product in my professional opinion. However, due to how intimate our team setting is, formalities and the extra star power of PowerPoint are unnecessary for us to accomplish are tasks. The only thing we really dislike is that it cannot seamlessly transfer power point files with slides (some team members still prefer power point)

Reason for choosing Google Slides

It's free, and gets the job done.

Reasons for switching to Google Slides

PowerPoint was an unnecessary expense for our company. To have a close match for free was the deal breaker for our team.

Google Slides: Quick and Easy Meeting Solutions

Overall, our business has had a positive experience with Google Slides. We have been able to effectively use it to create, send, and edit presentations for our business meetings. This has also saved plenty of time by negating the necessity to meet in person or over a conference call to discuss the presentation itself. I see no harm in using this as a primary presentation option moving forward as it has become very mainstream and used by many. With as user-friendly as it is, I see no other direction than up for this product.

PROS

We value portability and collaboration in the software that we choose for our business and Google Slides is the epitome of these things. In using this product, we are able to have all of our team members review and edit presentations which makes presentations easier to prepare. Especially because we all are often unable to coordinate our schedules to be together at the same time, we find specific value in these features. Additionally, the features that Google Slides offers allow for a wide variety of presentation styles and effects. There is very little that you cannot do with your presentation using this software which contributes to the very few weak points that this program has. Additionally, because multiple people may be working together on a project, you are able to easily track edits and their editors in the case that an edit needs to be revised.

CONS

Quite honestly, there are very few weak points about this software. However, integrating PowerPoint presentations that are saved as a .ppt file on a computer may have different formatting and may not transfer easily into the Google Slides format. This lack of interoperability is one of a small few weak areas in the software. For example, if you are choosing to edit an old presentation or perhaps one sent from someone who saved it as a .ppt, you might have difficulty or limitations when it comes to importing this to Google Drive.

Reason for choosing Google Slides

PowerPoint was a less cost-effective option but provided many features that we were looking for in a presentation maker software. However, because of the ease of collaboration and portability, we elected to try and continue using Google Slides. There seems to be very little drop off in choosing Google Slides over PowerPoint but, in a business that has the capability of using both, I see no harm in either option. It just so happens that price was the main point of interest in choosing Google Slides.

Presentation maker with focus on users

Overall it is a time saver with a clutter less interface and so many useful features.

PROS

As anyone can expect, this Google's presentation maker makes it easy for users to create and share presentations. With its minimalist material design, the service focuses on user's convenience. Features like easy share-ability and collaborative development are included. The explore wizard gives quick access to resources related to the presentation topic. There are couple of awesome templates available. The slides can be downloaded in a lots of format like PowerPoint Presentation, JPEG, PDF etc to name a few. The presentation can be downloaded and used on PowerPoint too. Once created, the presentation can be made within a web browser or the contents can be directly published to the web or can be embedded in a website. All the essential features like animations and multimedia are also supported. Presence of various add-ons like diagrams and flowchart maker, translator, flexible timer, equation maker etc makes Slides more versatile. All the presentations are saved real time on cloud. While working in a team, the document can be easily shared among colleagues. Commenting is a good feature in this case where you can add annotation for making an edit or to add a missing point. Comments can also be used to assign a work to a team member. Team members will be notified via mail for activities on comments which mention their names. Google Slides is available on mobile devices too.

CONS

Slides on the go, wherever you need them

It is a product we got through our Google Apps for Work suite and solved our problems with quick company presentations. Moreover, it is very good for collaboration, as well as presenting during Covid-19 pandemic over teleconferencing tools. This event was a very good catalyzer of Google Slides utilization.

PROS

Presentations are always tricky. Whenever you change a computer, version of the presentation software, you risk that the presentation is not going to look a like as you designed it in the first place. The idea of having this service as a cloud service makes it very handy because of two main reasons: - you bring all your presentations with you, inside your Google Drive - your presentations are going to run the same way they do on your own, or any other PC.

CONS

It does not have as much as dynamic features as other software solutions with this purpose do have. It is meant to run on the web, and the price of that is that it will not be as pretty and dynamic as you can do on Keynote or Power Point.

Reason for choosing Google Slides

We got Google Slides through Google Apps for Work suite. When you are using Google Apps, it simply fits and interconnects with other services.

Reasons for switching to Google Slides

Actually, we are using these products still, but Google Slides is just easier to share, collaborate and present online. When these requirements are at stake, then Google Slides is for us a must product.

Best option for virtual classes

PROS

What I like the most about Google Slides is that it can be accessed from any computer and it does not require any program to be installed to open it. In a class setting, Google Slides can be used within Google Classroom allowing teachers to project the content of their class in a clear way and also allows students to answer questions within the Slides in a fun format.

CONS

I love Google Slides and I use it daily with my students. Google Slides allows me to create interactive content in which I can type, drag and match information while explaining a lesson. However, when I project my slides in class I lose access to the functionality of dragging, matching and writing because it becomes a presentation. I work around it by not presenting the Slides as a slideshow. -As an educator sometimes I need to change the size of an individual slide in the page setup to present a larger text. Google Slides does not allow that since any changes made in one slide will be reflected in all the other slides. It would be beneficial to have that option.

Reasons for switching to Google Slides

Because Google Slides is available online and I can have access to my presentations from any computer.

Google Slides just as good as Powerpoint for certain needs

Google Slides is a very easy (free) alternative to PowerPoint in a pinch. I was unemployed when I was asked to design projections for a show and had to rely on my personal computer. In the past I would have a day job at a theatre company or other media company and work theatre gigs in the evening. If I was asked to work on a project that involved using certain software such as PowerPoint, Photoshop, or other Adobe software, I would use my work computer. Obviously I would limit my use as I want to avoid using company time working on other projects. However, that was my only access to expensive software I personally didn't have. Picking up any gigs I could while I was unemployed I had to find a free alternative. Google Slides was at the top of my Google Search. It ended up being very easy to use and similar to the format of PowerPoint, with likely less bells and whistles. Since my producer didn't require too much for her simple one-woman show, Googles Slides was equipped to get the job done without sacrificing quality. Since it was a very simple project I didn't really get to test the full capability of Google Slides although based on the toolbar it looked like it could do a lot more than I did.

PROS

Very intuitive and easy to use. You drag and drop slides on the column on the left-hand side of the screen and if you want to edit a specific slide you click on it. Very similar in format to PowerPoint. It feels easier and less intimidating.

CONS

Since it's a Google product you mainly access it online through a browser although you can present and edit offline, there are limitations. If you do any edits offline it doesn't automatically save until you have internet connection again. This does not help if I am working at a theatre venue with spotty or no wifi connection. It seems that there is a way to enable offline editing, but it's just an extra step and I'm not sure how well it syncs with what you already have edited when you were online (does it override it?). I haven't tested that option. Whereas you never have to worry about that with PowerPoint since it's an offline file to begin with. Google Slides being browser-based can make it stressful.

Reasons for switching to Google Slides

I didn't have PowerPoint on my personal computer. In the past when I worked on projects for shows it would be on a borrowed computer equipped with the software I needed.
