Function Point is a great productivity tool that offers all the features that we were looking for.
The user interface is great and so easy that our creatives actually use it to track their time, while offering needed information for account services and project management AND it also back ends into Quickbooks to make AP and AR easier.
CONSIt would be great if the software had a more robust time tracking capability so that I can see more easily at a glance PTO, overtime, etc. That way, I won't have to invest in another software to track employee time.

FP is great for project-based workflows
Their onboarding and customer service people have been great. I love the check-ins that they do to see if FP can be more useful to our company. Any technical problem that I've had has been resolved in a speedy manner.
PROSWe love it's ability to have over-arching projects that individual jobs are tied to. We have a lot of clients that give us a large PO to cover multiple things. We also like the ability of manage deferred payments / deposits in the system. I also like that the development team is listening to their users requests. There is a Submit and Idea button available, and users can view others ideas and give their input as well. Their Help Centre is fabulous, too, with videos, briefs, Crash Courses, Webinars, and a library of help topics.
CONSI feel the reporting features could be improved. They do have wonderful reports for getting granular data, but they don't have the particular information I am looking for in a report. Users do, however, have the ability to download data from reports to spreadsheets so data can be arranged in a report of their choosing.
Reasons for switching to Function Point
We needed a system that could handle deferred payments. And also a system that could "talk" to each other. We are now using Function Point with Quickbooks Online Integration, which was great, because our accountant was looking for a way for us to switch from Peachtree to Quickbooks.

The Function Point team is always responsive and available
Function Point has grown with us as we've grown as a company. Their support team is responsive when question arise, and I know that everyone from their account team to product development to support is available when I need them. Their interest in soliciting feedback and involving clients in their roadmap development is so welcome.
PROSBudgets, tasks, and schedules can all be connected and feed into each other, meaning less work for our team. Enter a timesheet entry and everyone knows the status of that task and how it has affected the overall budget immediately.
CONSI think most things are specific to how we do business. For example, we'd like more customization of contacts and companies so we can track details more specifically. Right now, we're maintaining two CRMs -- FP and Salesforce. It would be amazing to combine them. We'd like to be able to give clients more insight into their projects. We stopped pursuing the client portal because it looked outdated. Perhaps that's changed. But providing some way to share a real-time timeline / schedule with clients would be valuable to us. We'd also value a re-do of the Resource Planner / Scheduler that allowed us to look at forecasted work, landed business that's not yet actionable (draft tasks) and landed, actionable work. This would give us greater insight into what business we can commit to.

I use Function Point every day for project management and organizational purposes.
Function Point has helped to consolidate and digitize a lot of the things that would have been done either in physical, print form (such as recording time worked on each task), or in a less efficient way (such as creating estimates).
PROSWhat I like most about Function Point is the ease of creating estimates and saving templates. It allows us to provide very in-depth estimates to clients and prospects, which we have received compliments on. Very rarely do I see estimates that are as detailed and clear as the ones that Function Point allows us to create with relative ease. Likewise, the simplicity of creating an Invoice from an existing Job also streamlines the process tremendously. We also make extensive use of the Notes function to create easy-to-follow instructions for our artists to follow. The fact that these are then saved automatically with the Job and are easy to go back to and reference is very helpful. It makes organizing them and trying to keep track of them much less of a hassle.
CONSOne thing I don't like about the Function Point software is that, when a Job is "closed," any tasks that remain un-completed just sit on the Tasks/To Dos page on the homepage of FP. Sometimes we find that tasks we initially think will be required are not needed in the end. Once the Job is closed, I'd much prefer that the "left over" tasks automatically get marked in some way as to indicate that they were not completed, while still being removed from the Tasks/To Dos list. My list is constantly cluttered by Tasks for Jobs that were finished weeks ago, but which I know nothing about because I was never required to actually complete that task. It ends up that someone has to manually close out every individual task that is not needed. Feels like a waste of time.

Clear and easy to use
Overall great experience so far, collaboration is easy and keeping track of spending / job progress / billable hours is simpler than other platforms.
PROSThat the layout is clear and easy to navigate. It makes it easy to assign tasks and collaborate with the rest of the team. Also love how easy it is to track time using the Weekly View timesheet window.
CONSThe financials page can be confusing when flipping between Estimates, Financials and Invoices (numbers repeat themselves, and line items are used a bit differently on each page).

Minimal Use
I get frustrated with it, but I also haven't given it a really fair shake in terms of sitting down and learning how to use it.
PROSFor inputting time, it's pretty simple to keep track of jobs.
CONSIt's not very intuitive and there seems to be a pretty huge learning curve to really get to the crunchy stuff. I spend a lot of time just clicking around, trying to find things. This, however, has as much to do with my limited training as anything else.

In terms of project management systems for agencies, it's pretty good.
Handles everything in one system -- setting up clients, creating jobs, allocating time to projects and tracking due dates. It's also nice that it allows customization and can handle POs and invoices.
CONSThis isn't a great CMS and definitely doesn't include the features that a sales team desires. It also won't allow you to see the difference between hours budgeted and hours actually spent as you have to reconcile the "estimated" and "actual" hours spent.

A good place to start
It has helped us to track and manage projects profitablility because we have a way of analyzing prior project sand charging appropriately for similar kinds of work.

Function Point is easy and simple to use. The interface is easily understood by each team member.
The desktop version is easily understood with a clean interface. I like the option of the mobile application as well for on the go record keeping.
CONSI love the idea of the mobile application; however, it freezes all the time and needs the bugs worked out. If you can fix these reoccurring issues I'll be a raving fan.

- It's fairly intuitive - It does keep all information on a job together, in one place - The customizable dashboards based on how you will use it in your role - Timesheets are straight foward and easy to use (makes for easier tracking on a job) - Dashboards on where a project is sitting financially are nice
CONS- The amount of clicks it takes to get to certain areas (ie - hours assigned on a job or getting into an estimate when you don't recall the job number) - Scheduling could be so much better! Incorporating a scheduling system similar to SmartSheet would be amazing - Tasks could also improve. I'd like to see the ability to add sub-tasks or the ability to cc another person on tasks (think Trello) - Google Doc integration would be AMAZING! While function point is a great place to store things, the lack of formatting and the the chance of losing all your work by going 'back' in a browser is limiting.

Lots of Features
Overall it's nice to have once tool for many of our project tracking/accounting needs.
PROSThere are a lot of features that could be disparate apps but all come together nicely in one program. We mostly use for estimating, time tracking, invoicing and reporting. We don't use the brief or schedule features currently but would like to look at them again to see if they might be good for our team now that we've bene using FP for a few years.
CONSIt took us a while to set up in a way that made sense for our teams/how we work and to put some best practices into place. When we first started using FP, the Brief and Schedule features were clunky/didn't work for how we work so we haven't been able to utilize them. I also feel like some workflows are clunky and I find myself going back and forth to different views to complete tasks, but make it work!

Great System for Creative Agencies
Function Point has been a major asset for our Creative Agency over the past 8 plus years of use. With a ton of easy to use features and reporting, it's allowed our firm to estimate, create, track, and bill out thousands of past and ongoing projects. The up to date time tracking and reporting has been fantastic for us and given us a true pulse on the business, as we track and communicate project progress with our clients and team. With major benefits and ease of use, we've now added it into another one of our businesses to provide the same successes. To me the system provides a ton of features and value at an affordable rate.
PROSGreat value for a ton of functionality
CONSThe only issue that I have with the system relates to the tasking, as it's different then our agency workflow.

Great for medium-sized agencies
I work for a medium-sized creative agency that used to do everything on Basecamp but we grew out of it. FunctionPoint has been a real step up in our organization and processes.
PROSIt's a great way for all parts of the business to be on the same page, from finance to accounts to creative. Everyone can see the status of a project or client in one place, even though sometimes that place is hard to find.
CONSI wish it were a little more obvious as to what some of the features are. Our agency has had to define SME on FP and it's always that person who makes the call as to what parts of it we're using and what we're not. For that reason, I feel like that there are probably useful things available that we're not taking full advantage of.

This Has Changed Our Business
It has been amazing being able to do so many things with a customizable dashboard, easy to use program, etc. There is probably so much more to learn but what I have access to now is already great!
PROSFunction Point is a great tool where we put our time, our project notes, our client design briefs and more. It is a tool that we use every single day and we were able to get some clients to use it to send us design requests and they are able to put examples of a project so we can see what they need and we can send them drafts over FP.
CONSOn the timesheet, there is an actual hours over the estimates hours for each project but it goes away when you put in your hours once, so you need to open it up again in a new spot just to see where you are for hours. We have talked to them and they are fixing this right after they make changes to other parts of the site.

Solid solution for core business functionalities
Overall Function Point is a great comprehensive tool that helps increase productivity, supports automate many processes within a company and helps improve the collaboration and communication between workers.
PROSIt's best feature is most probably the time tracking functionality. Every employee uses it to track their time daily, then reports will be created and send directly to clients. The real time tracking makes clients happy as they know where their money goes, also the employees have it all saved as input for later. Also great reporting tool: the organisation knows where most time and energy is invested by its employees.
CONSThe one con we can think of is that although for an experienced user it becomes easy to maneuver, it does require training.

My Function Point Experience
Overall we have enjoyed it, we are about to get our quickbooks integrated, so that will be nice - hope that it works great.
PROSI like that it is easy to navigate and find things quickly. I like how the interface is branded and the some of the reporting is great.
CONSI wish you had better options on estimate sending- like tracking to see if they opened the email and housing the email in the job that you sent for estimate approval. you see your email when you have to send an invoice, but should be the same on estimating. -- I wish you had a better setup for jobs/estimate on annual budgets - with trying to keep the team on their monthly hours and then having monthly jobs... it gets boggled down with that many jobs.... I wish we could see how other agencies of our size have their function point organized....

We love this software!
We love how intuitive the software is and easy to use. The people at the company are great, too, and the training and support is phenomenal. Couldn't recommend it enough...especially after having use a number of advertising software competitors that seem to market towards the accounting folks and have no CLUE how the rest of the agency really uses a project management tool. These people truly get what agencies need.
CONSI wish that they had a media buying aspect to their software. Also the notifications are a bit complex and we get too many emails. But it's a small price to pay for all the other awesomeness of the software.

Function Point - Great Program
We've been using Function Point for a little over 1.6 year and it is a great program. It made a positive change in our daily operations - from communicating jobs between the account, creative and digital teams, to managing personal and client hours. Function Point is very easy to use, it keeps all of your client jobs in the same place, so it is easy to reference a past job whether it is a job from a month ago or from a year ago. Also you can add as many contacts as needed, so the whole team has access to the jobs/assets/information and etc. I would definitely recommend the program.
PROSeasy to use, easy to manage projects and hours, keeps your projects organized
CONSSometimes it is a bit slow and it takes a minute to register an update, for example when I dismiss some of my notifications, it takes a bit to remove it from the list and it reloads to the homepage.
