### Rating distribution

- 4 stars: 720 reviews (27%)
- 3 stars: 149 reviews (6%)
- 2 stars: 13 reviews (0%)
- 1 star: 9 reviews (0%)

### Most mentioned pros

- The recurring tasks feature is excellent — the things I need to do daily for clients show up automatically, so I always know exactly what's on my plate and trust that it all lives in one place.
- Its clean, intuitive interface and the ability to easily organize, prioritize, and track tasks across multiple projects.
- Todoist is helpful to me because I track projects, use reminders (for the much-needed automation that Notes and a notebook don't provide), and interact with the app throughout the day.

### Most mentioned cons

- The application's business model proves frustrating because several crucial features for professional use, such as automatic reminders based on time or location and adding file attachments to tasks, are locked behind the paid version.
- The newer voice/"ramble" capture is promising but doesn't always behave as expected; when I dictate a task with a long description, it sometimes splits the text into several separate tasks instead of keeping it as one task with a description.
- Can feel too basic at times If you’re trying to build out more complex systems or workflows, it might feel a bit limited.

#### Pros

I absolutely love this To Do list app! The layout is incredibly intuitive, making it a breeze to organize my daily tasks. The visuals are sleek and modern, giving the app a premium feel that actually makes me want to use it. I’m also a huge fan of the customization options; being able to tailor the look and feel to my personal style has made a huge difference in my productivity. There’s nothing bad to say—it’s simple, effective, and exactly what I needed. At $60/year, it’s absolutely worth every penny. The reminder system is spot-on, ensuring I never miss a beat. If you’re looking to boost your productivity with a tool that’s both beautiful and functional, this is it!

#### Cons

I can't think of anything I don't like about todo list. it's a solid organizational tool. It runs really well, and you can do a lot with it.

#### Reasons for switching to Todoist

Notion is way too much for me. I wanted something more simple and less distracting and fewer features, believe it or not.

Todoist is my starting point for productivity. Adding tasks from the phone, my email software or using my voice are features I cannot live without. The system is deceptively simple and powerful.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Todoist is simple enough to manage grocery lists and powerful enough to manage lightweight project management. Ideal for solo freelancers or small teams that need to juggle multiple projects. MCP implementation opens new possibilities and adding tasks with voice is a welcome addition.

#### Cons

The Google Calendar implemention lost quality. Before you could add tasks for different projects to specific calendars in Google Calendar, now all goes to the same calendar. Missing the ability to color-code tasks by project in Todoist own calendar and lists.

#### Reasons for choosing Todoist

More robust set of features and better calendar integration.

#### Reasons for switching to Todoist

Better integration with my other tools and apps.

### The fastest, most reliable task capture I've used for client work

- Overall rating: 5/5
- Reviewer: Nathan K.
- Verified reviewer: Yes
- Industry: Computer Software
- Company size: Self-Employed
- Product usage: Used daily for less than 2 years
- Reviewed: May 2026
- Review source details: This review was submitted organically. No incentive was offered

Todoist has genuinely saved me a lot of mental space and time. It solved a real problem around fast, low-friction task capture — especially that quick-capture shortcut on Mac — and gives me confidence that everything I need to do is in one trusted spot. I did a fair amount of research before committing, comparing it to Things 3, a few other task tools, and Apple's Reminders. Todoist won out because it had the best shortcut and automation functionality plus a steady stream of thoughtful upgrades that show the product is heading in a great direction. After one to two years of daily use on the Pro plan, it's become a core part of how I run my work and client projects.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Todoist's biggest strength is how fast and frictionless it makes capturing and organizing work. I can dump any thought straight into the Inbox the second it occurs to me, then process and clear that Inbox every day so nothing slips through the cracks. The recurring tasks feature is excellent — the things I need to do daily for clients show up automatically, so I always know exactly what's on my plate and trust that it all lives in one place. Organizing tasks across projects keeps each client's work cleanly separated and easy to navigate. The standout for me is the keyboard-driven quick-capture shortcut on Mac: I can fire up a capture window instantly without breaking focus, which is huge for staying in flow. Setup was very easy, integrations and connections were simple to get running, and on the Pro plan the value is well worth it for how much mental overhead it removes.

#### Cons

Honestly there's very little I dislike. My main wish is for richer, note-style capture inside each task. Today a task has a description field, but I'd love a proper notes area on each item to go deeper — attaching files, links, and longer-form context rather than leaning on the description or comments. The newer voice/"ramble" capture is promising but doesn't always behave as expected; when I dictate a task with a long description, it sometimes splits the text into several separate tasks instead of keeping it as one task with a description. It's a new feature, so I expect it to improve. I'd also love for the Todoist assistant to be able to read the contents of files and emails forwarded into a task — when I email something in, a lot of the real work lives inside the attachment, and having the assistant actually see that content instead of me opening it manually would make it far more powerful.

#### Reasons for choosing Todoist

I researched Things 3, Apple Reminders, and a few other task-capture tools before settling on Todoist. Todoist stood out for having the best shortcut and automation functionality — the keyboard-driven quick-capture shortcut on Mac is faster and more frictionless than what the alternatives offered — and for its steady stream of thoughtful upgrades that show the product is consistently heading in a good direction.

I use Todoist every day to organize my work and personal tasks. The app is fast, smooth, and works very well even with an average internet connection. It allows me to structure my days and avoid forgetting things, which clearly improves my productivity. Real-time synchronization between mobile, computer, and browser and uses very little data.

#### Cons

When managing a lot of projects, the organization can become a little confusing and the price of the premium version remains just a little affordable.

Todoist has been a great productivity tool overall. It makes it easy to organize tasks, set priorities and deadlines, and keep track of what needs to get done. The interface is clean and intuitive, and it works well for both personal and professional tasks. While some advanced features could be more accessible, my overall experience has been very positive.

#### Pros

The simplicity and ease of use. Todoist made it really easy to organize tasks, set priorities and due dates, and stay on top of everything without feeling overwhelmed.

I used many different task management programs before finding Todoist. Todoist has all the features I want without being too complicated to use. I won't use anything else at this point.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5

#### Pros

It has every option I need in a todo list program, kanban boards, calendar view, attachments, and sub tasks.

#### Cons

The default keyboard shortcuts are not the most intuitive.

#### Reasons for choosing Todoist

Todoist was easier to use and has a dedicated Mac app, instead of being solely online based.

#### Reasons for switching to Todoist

Even after using Omnifocus for a year, it was too complicated to keep up with in terms of running. I was looking for something easier to use that also had Kanban boards.

Very positive. I have no reall complaints or issues with the app and continue to use it daily since originally downloading a year or more ago.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

It has a simple clean look to it that doesn't appear childish with colors or over cluttered upon launch of the app.

#### Cons

The fact that it doesn't have any self help attributes to it at all. It would be pretty simple of them to add in a feature for bible quotes, spiritual quotes or personal improvement quotes to your todo lists to just empower people randomly throughout the day. Sure not everyone would want this feature, but you may save a life from someone that was not doing well and read that one quote that changed their outlook.

I have been using Todoist for over a decade to track work and personal tasks. The app makes it easy to categorize tasks across categories, workstreams, and projects, allowing you to stay organized and clutter-free. It integrates fairly well with Outlook, Google, and iOS calendars, as well.

#### Cons

There is a learning curve with how to best take advantage of the labeling, priorities, and project tags to organize your task manager. The app's calendar features have improved over the years, but there is still room to improve the app's filtering features to see only certain types of tasks at once.

#### Pros

Creating new tasks is very visual and simple to do. It’s easy to make a list and follow things easily.
