Escapia is a powerful professional tool to help you run your businss
A powerful tool for the complete needs of a vacation rental management company, from providing guest quotes, customizing guest arrival experience, to managing accounts.
PROSThe accounting side of this software is strong and a knowledgeable user has powerful tools. Owner statements are transparent and clearly structured. Correspondence is attractive and easy to customize. The various tools available for setting rates/manipulating rates are easy to use. The reservation grid is easy to understand, and the filters and quotes make the reservationists' work easier and more consistent. Integration with Glad Hospitality helps provide a good guest experience without much effort (once the initial setup is complete). The reports are informative and useful. Bank reconciliation tool is an absolute essential. Having used Escapia and other VRM software while working for other companies, when I started my own company, I knew the only software I wanted to use was Escapia.
CONSFeatures for automated or scheduled correspondence are weak. There is no "notes" area associated with owners for keeping a record of requests, authorizations, etc. Because it is a powerful system, to develop the skills necessary to fully take advantage of its many useful features means you need to invest some time and effort. That is not really a "con" to me. If you have a good tool, you want to learn to take full advantage of it. However, for a new user, it could seem a little scary. But we found that it's not terribly difficult to learn what you need to learn in order to successfully take advantage of the system as a basic user, and that if you want to stop there, you can and you'll still have a good system. It's worth putting in the work, though, to become a skilled user to take advantage of the full capabilities of the system.

Excellent PMS but needs modernizing
We used Escapia for more than 8 years but we had to always rely on third party solutions to connect with Airbnb, Inntopia and even our own website, so we decided to move away to a more modern and friendly solution. Bit don’t get me wrong, Escapia even though dated is extremely well designed and work very well.
PROSThe accounting, housekeeping and work order modules are incredibly well designed.
CONSThe pricing module is not friendly and cumbersome. Doesn’t have a direct connection with Airbnb and doesn’t have a built in website solution
Reason for choosing Escapia
Escapia offered better support and it was a more natural step up for FRS users.
Reasons for switching to Escapia
FRS was dated as it was DOS based, but in my opinion it was (is) the best PMS ever made.

Ugly and complicated, but mostly works
Escapia does do most of what it needs to. Especially from an accounting perspective, Escapia works for managing properties and owners, rates, fees, contracts, etc. Escapia also does integrate (with some flaws...) with a lot of other property softwares and listing sites. Finally, I have had mostly good experiences working with Escapia Support, and Homeaway Integration support when trying to figure out integration issues between Escapia and VRBO and other listing sites.
CONSThe sheer number of times that I had to contact support while using this product bear witness to the fact that it is not easy to use at all. Escapia can do a lot of things, but in order to get it to work you first have to be able to figure it out. There are all kinds of little nooks and crannies all over the software - boxes that have to be checked and extra steps that have to be remembered - if you want it to function. It's also not very pleasant to look at, which isn't a big deal, but also doesn't help. Compared to MyVR's interface Escapia just looks old and ugly. We gave up altogether on setting up an Escapia website, and went with MyVR instead. Overall, Escapia does work for us, and does do what it needs to, but it's not a fun system to use.

The ONLY software you need for Vacation Rentals!
This is your one stop shop. Escapia connects seamless to your VRBO listings, so you can manage headlines and guest inquiries right from Escapia. We have tried other softwares that boosted in helping our business, but the lack of support those companies gave us, ultimately made us stop using them. We have a million parts moving each day and we need a central hub that keeps everything on track. Escapia is that for us!
PROSThe support we receive from the Escapia team has been like no other software companies we have used! The changing over to Escapia was hard for our team who have been using v12, but the Escapia team made sure we were comfortable being going live. The new rates manager is amazing! It makes setting and adjusting rates a breeze! No more looking at different windows and setting rate rules . Its all in one screen.
CONSWe are missing some key reports we used in V12, but the Escapia team has listened to our requests and are working on new reporting for Escapia. Its a learning curve to switch software companies, but its been worth it.
Reason for choosing Escapia
We choose Escapia because it was the full package. We knew this system would support our trust accounting and give us confidence in moving forward as our company was growing and making more and more reservations. Also, the Escapia team has invested with us. They didn't just give us the software and walk away. They stayed with us as we got up and running. They gave us the support we didn't even know we needed during a crazy year -2020! We couldn't run and grow our business without a PM system that we trusted and worked to help us grow. The Escapia team is listening to us with suggestions.

Very Strong System, But Outdated and Clunky
Overall our experience with Escapia (separate from Expedia or Homeowner) has been positive. The support and staff are great, though it feels like we have to call support for just about everything. It gets the job done solidly, but is seriously lacking in efficiency and design.
PROSThe booking engine is strong and it is a well-established software. It never goes down and always performs its core functionalities. It has API connections with every supplier that we need. It also has trust accounting.
CONSIt is old and dated with very few updates in the last four years. The reporting and rate engines are frustrating to use and it has a number of oddities that make training and using difficult. The lack of connection to Airbnb is also a serious issue along with the "Price Consitency" rules from Vrbo.

Ecxellent Vacation rental software
I have used Escapia with 3 different companies. It has come a long way as far as development. Setting up rates is actually doable now before it was virtually impossible
PROSUser friendly, easy to keep track of accounting and reservations. Has come a long way in the last 10 years
CONSCustomer service is not that helpful. We have been trying to set up our software to where it is live and not have to manually input everything from VRBO but Escapia staff has been little help because we only manage about 15 vacation rental properties at the moment. Escapia customer service should give the same attention to smaller businesses as they do the ones with more VR inventory

We've used Escapia for 11 years and depend on their excellent support staff to keep things running
After 11 years I'm still very happy with Escapia. I know they are working hard to update and improve all features in the software. And because of their excellent customer service people, we are staying with them for the future.
PROSCustomer support is easy to reach and very helpful. They are always working to improve the software and be current and ahead of the competition. In today's complex market, that is not an easy job.
CONSAs the company's bookkeeper I've always wished for a better accounting module. But for reservation management, it is great.

Streamlined our Vacation Rentals
Escapia has really streamlined our vacation rental program, it helps with the entire process from reservations we input and online reservations, through payment collection, also the the advertising. It truly does it all!

Escapia is the one stop shop in software, that allows me to be the one stop shop for vacation rentals.
PROSEscapia is the best software out there for this industry. It does everything I need and More.
CONSI don't have any cons. Escapia just keeps getting better and better.

Well worth it
Very positive experience and helped me to run a successful business.
PROSEase of use and intuitive features. Calendar was great and the amount of data entering for each booking made it very easy.

Love Escapia, excited for their new software
I have loved my experience with Escapia and VRBO! They have wonderful customer service and this software is very easy to use.
PROSI have so many great things to say about Escapia. My number one is customer support. If you can't figure something out immediately, give them a call and it will be fixed within minutes. We manage 70 vacation rental properties and use Escapia for pictures, descriptions, rates, everything! We recently attended one of their meetings where they announced they will be launching a new, more updated Escapia to combine their other softwares as well. I am very excited!
CONSSometimes it will go out for a while, but they do always have it back up and running in a timely manner. There's nothing to say I like the least because they are always willing to fix anything.

Perfect for vacation rental management companies small to large!
I have used Escapia or V12 at several companies for more than 8 years and I think once you learn the basics, it is very easy to become a master user, and I keep finding new features and reports that are really helpful!
PROSThe 3 best features of Escapia are 1. they are always updating and adding new features to be current with trends and needs of property manager. 2. They have absolutely the best support team of any software I have used to date. 3. The seamless integration with VRBO/HomeAway is unmatched with any other program!
CONSThe upfront cost is steep especially given how many other web based programs charge per unit and not a huge upfront commitment. And the aesthetic of the site to me, is not very appealing and seems out of date.

Great investment for this small vacation rental company.
Increased online exposure
PROSThe software is easy to use and has met the needs of our small rental office. We enjoy the self paced online tutorials for training new staff members. We are glad they have streamlined the Glad to Have you product directly into Escapia. They are always working to make the program better & more efficient.
CONSThese are very few but are mainly with the support staff. Recently called in and received 3 different answers on how to fix an accounting issue. When it comes to more complex accounting issues, a possible suggestion would be to send callers to more experienced staff verses having them speak to the "new" person.

Vacation Management Made Easy!
This software makes it super easy to manage properties from adding them onto a program to renting the units on a weekly basis. It is very user friendly once you have everything set up. It puts the reservation process, owner management, and accounting into one system to make it easy to manage.
CONSThe training was my least favorite thing about Escapia. It was difficult to get everything set up and going and learning how to manage everything, but the trainers worked with us for hours on the phone to get everything set up correctly. The support staff was always willing to assist.

I’m not liking the changes Homeaway has made
I have a good account manager that helps me through the changes they make, and that has made my decision to continue to list with them easier. They used to be a lot more “ vacation manager friendly”. I prefer to stay with the subscription model vs the PP, and feel like since they changed I haven’t been getting as good of booking results.
PROSThe reach that Homeaway /Escapia has is undeniably huge. I like that they have established a bridge or portal with my software company, so I only have to enter the listing info once.
CONSI really dislike the way they have changed their business platform from a marketing platform to a booking platform.

Room for improvement
Escapia is taking feedback and appear to be working to improve the software. Currently though it is a daily frustration. The system stops working daily, it's slow, doesn't communicate well with our other software systems. Hoping the new updates later this year will remedy many of the issues we've experienced.
PROSFor the most part it is easy to use and mostly self-explanatory for creating and monitoring reservations.
CONSIt experiences glitches or stops working almost daily. We continuously receive a screen for "server error" or just a grey spinning wheel, that prevents your from doing anything. Many days we have to log off or clear cookies just to get it to work again. This happens far too frequently to be beneficial for our company.
