We have been using Gradelink for at least 3 years, and I still like the versatility of being able to do all the above mentioned things on one website with one login. I thinks parents also appreciate everything (enrollment and grades) being in the same place, too. I can lesson plan, record grades, find parents' email addresses and phone numbers, and email parents all in one place. We have different groups set up, so I can email my class or my extracurricular with the click of one button. I can also exclude certain families, if it is a reminder email that certain families don't need. As far as I have heard from my principal and director of technology, the support is easy-to-use and very helpful. One example is that the support team has adjusted the look of our report cards to make sure it looks the way we want. If we are having any trouble, my principal or our director of technology submits a support ticket. #### Cons The only thing I don't like is that copying lesson plans from previous years has a lot of steps. Unless I am missing some training, you have to click through a lot of buttons to find past lessons, then copy, then click back through all the buttons to get to the current week to paste. If you only have to do one lesson, it might be worth it, but if you are trying to copy a week or two for a whole unit, it gets too unmanageable. #### Reasons for switching to Gradelink This company did both of those two, and was cheaper. #### Vendor response Wow, thank you for such a thorough review, Tiffany! The main reason we looked for a SIS was for transcript records management, and Gradelink has been perfect for us. The Report Card has been more difficult to customize for our small school, but teachers have been able to find work-arounds. #### Cons Ease of Use is 4 stars because some teachers have had a difficult time getting the hang of it, and some help tutorials or explanations can be difficult to find until you know what you're looking for. One feature that we have asked for several times is an app for teachers. The software is unusable on a mobile device, and there are times when a student calls with a question and the teacher is not by a computer browser to help answer that question. #### Reasons for choosing Gradelink Gradelink had the most usable features that would integrate with our school operation. Financial accountability was another reason we chose Gradelink; it has great pricing considerations for small schools. Gradelink is user friendly, logical, and easy to use. Parents can see student achievement whenever they want, and report cards are easy to create. As an admin, adding new staff and/or students is quick and easy. Most questions can be answered via their help desk, but if you phone and leave a message, you get a response usually same day, next business day at the latest. #### Cons Gradelink is great for communicating with staff, students, and parents, but it isn't always easy/practical to add people outside of those categories who still need the communication. It is so helpful to be able to send messages to specific groups of parents, schedule messages, and such. It is also very straightforward and easy to use. I also love the grading features, again all very straightforward and easy to use. It makes grading and communicating so much less stressful! #### Cons I don't like how Gradelink times out frequently. I would prefer if there was a way to decide how long you wanted to stay signed in until it signs you out. Sometimes I come back to my computer and have to log in again because I have been teaching a lesson and then I lose my spot where I was and have to reload to the correct subject and entering grades or such. I have also noticed it is sometimes not possible or just difficult to create a list of certain combinations of students. For example, the names of all the girls, the names of all the boys, the names of all the students and their parents emails, etc. I don't know if there is a way to make it easy to choose the combination of lists that you want and then just have a copy of that. #### Vendor response We’re thrilled that you find Gradelink so enjoyable to use, Elyse! As a lead teacher, I oversee the training and support of my fellow educators on Gradelink. The feedback from teachers is consistently positive regarding the Lesson Plans and the Gradesheet features. I particularly enjoy the ability to save and duplicate Lesson Plans. Transitioning to digital Report Cards has significantly saved us time. Overall, Gradelink proves to be an excellent platform for our school. #### Cons The one aspect I find less appealing is the State Standards. It would be beneficial to have access to all State standards within the lesson plan section. I've noticed that several standards are missing, and it would be great to access them on our end. I appreciate how simple it is to create assignments, enter grades, and keep student progress organized. I especially like that I can generate progress reports to help students and families stay on track. The Smart Send option is also very helpful for communication. I also appreciate the flexibility of entering grades as points, letter grades, or percentages, depending on the needs of the class. #### Cons One limitation is that attachments cannot be added directly from Google Drive. I have to download the file first, convert or save it as a PDF, and then upload it separately, which adds extra steps. I like all of the different lists that it generates like birthdays. I like that parents are able to update their information directly onto Gradelink. #### Cons I wish that I were able to import and export grades to Schoology. I wish that we could put our vacation and days off directly into Gradelink, and it would automatically put them into the attendance. I would like it to say the difference between early leave and 1/2 dismissal, and the same with the morning absence and tardy. I was the Director of Technology at my previous school - the other student management systems were not only limited on the teacher end, they were a passion to manage on the admin end. #### Cons I would prefer a few more options within the reports. Assignment settings and features are easy to add and change when needed. #### Cons Although easy to use, Gradelink offers limited options when it comes to display features, and I have come across frequent technical issues on their end when it comes to adjusting past years' information. Requires several steps and not all teachers are willing to learn how to do it. I love how easy it is to figure out, and how easy it is to explain to new teachers and parents. #### Cons The biggest con with Gradelink is that there is not a teacher app. The students and parents have an app, but teachers don't. We always have to use Safari.
