The main reason we looked for a SIS was for transcript records management, and Gradelink has been perfect for us. The Report Card has been more difficult to customize for our small school, but teachers have been able to find work-arounds. #### Cons Ease of Use is 4 stars because some teachers have had a difficult time getting the hang of it, and some help tutorials or explanations can be difficult to find until you know what you're looking for. One feature that we have asked for several times is an app for teachers. The software is unusable on a mobile device, and there are times when a student calls with a question and the teacher is not by a computer browser to help answer that question. #### Reasons for choosing Gradelink Gradelink had the most usable features that would integrate with our school operation. Financial accountability was another reason we chose Gradelink; it has great pricing considerations for small schools. We have been using Gradelink for at least 3 years, and I still like the versatility of being able to do all the above mentioned things on one website with one login. I thinks parents also appreciate everything (enrollment and grades) being in the same place, too. Email may come from Gradelink, but it then creates an email thread in our school Gmail accounts, so parents don't actually have to use Gradelink to email back and forth. #### Ratings breakdown - Ease of use: 5/5 - Value for money: 5/5 - Customer support: 5/5 - Functionality: 5/5 #### Pros My favorite part is that everything is on one website/login. I can lesson plan, record grades, find parents' email addresses and phone numbers, and email parents all in one place. We have different groups set up, so I can email my class or my extracurricular with the click of one button. I can also exclude certain families, if it is a reminder email that certain families don't need. As far as I have heard from my principal and director of technology, the support is easy-to-use and very helpful. One example is that the support team has adjusted the look of our report cards to make sure it looks the way we want. If we are having any trouble, my principal or our director of technology submits a support ticket. #### Cons The only thing I don't like is that copying lesson plans from previous years has a lot of steps. Unless I am missing some training, you have to click through a lot of buttons to find past lessons, then copy, then click back through all the buttons to get to the current week to paste. If you only have to do one lesson, it might be worth it, but if you are trying to copy a week or two for a whole unit, it gets too unmanageable. #### Reasons for switching to Gradelink This company did both of those two, and was cheaper. #### Vendor response Wow, thank you for such a thorough review, Tiffany! Gradelink is user friendly, logical, and easy to use. Parents can see student achievement whenever they want, and report cards are easy to create. As an admin, adding new staff and/or students is quick and easy. Most questions can be answered via their help desk, but if you phone and leave a message, you get a response usually same day, next business day at the latest. #### Cons Gradelink is great for communicating with staff, students, and parents, but it isn't always easy/practical to add people outside of those categories who still need the communication. For example, we send our school newsletter via Gradelink. I appreciate being able to communicate with all of the students and their parents within the Communication means, for it serves as great reminders to hit all deadlines, whether special events, or reminding parents about State Testing. I appreciated being able to include a plethora of information for the RCS staff, so everyone could have all needed information in a timely and organized way. #### Cons A helpful feature that would be nice when uploading information for students would be to consider having any duplicated information, such as the primary family contact information (phone number, email address) on the first page, prepopulate in other places, like the contact information within the contact file information (where the address and type of relationship information is entered), within a student's Gradelink file. From a gradebook to using Gradelink is an entirely different experience. Being able to enter grades quickly and see the running class average in real time is amazing. Whether I need to contact a parent or find student information, I know where to look. I am able to easily send group emails with important information using the communication section as well. Because Gradelink is so user friendly, I have never had to contact customer support. There has rarely been issues with the system being down, and when it is, it is fixed quickly. Time and money is saved using Gradelink! My time management is organized even further because of Gradelink! I do feel like all student information is secure and that information is kept private. If you are trying to get grades out in a timely fashion as well as manage your student as well as teacher time correctly, Gradelink is definitely the answer. Of the ways to get information available quickly, Gradelink is the best! #### Cons I do not have any cons about Gradelink. I have found that entering grades, setting weights for different assignments, and communication are all easier with Gradelink. Pulling reports, entering students, and creating classes is extremely easy. We are a Success For All school and have students switching reading classes each trimester, I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to change students each trimester to a new class. We appreciate that all of our records can now be digitally stored and accessed by administration at any time. We greatly appreciate the online enrollment option and the communication tools to do automated phone calls, texts, and emails. Such a concise timesaver to manage student and staff information. We have always been able to access customer support to help us with any issue. The site is secure and although pricey it is a worthwhile investment as a school management system . Really appreciate the online gradebook option that prepare instantly downloadable transcripts , progress reports, and report cards. It makes viewing and printing student reports so easy. You press the arrow and it fills in the same grade for everyone. It's easy to skip to the few students who have a different grade and correct it. #### Cons There is not late grade option. I have worked with Gradelink for the past several years and I have found it to be an essential tool in my teacher's tool belt. If questions arise, there is always a tutorial video to watch to help explain how to do whatever needs to be done. I especially appreciate how easy it is to communicate through Gradelink. Gradelink contains everything a teacher will need to write lesson plans, organize and keep grades, as well as so much more. It is an all around program that covers everything a teacher will need to stay organized from day to day. #### Cons If one does not have access to a color printer, printed lesson plans are not as easy to read. Sometimes pages get cut in the middle of a plan. Using the lesson plan program is, however, very easy.
