Intacct is a Web-based financial accounting software system with a broad set of functionality for small to mid-sized businesses. Founded in 1999 in San Jose, California, Intacct now serves over 30,000 users. The system is meant for a wide variety of industries as a horizontal accounting system.

Intacct can support applications for core accounting, time and expenses, revenue management, project accounting, order and billing, purchasing, global consolidations, multi-currency management, and financial reporting.

Intacct is web-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and can be accessed on demand through a browser over the Internet. Oracle is the database for Intacct, while the applications and data are hosted in IBM e-business Hosting Centers. Disaster recovery functions are provided by Sungard.

The staff at the Great Books Foundation, from the IT staff to the operational people using the system, would like to say a tremendous thank you to all of the people at Intacct – starting with our implementation coordinator and the customer service people at Intacct. I’ve been through about 6 conversions in my career and this probably was one of the easiest, not simple because of the size or complexity – because it was a pretty daunting task – but because the Intacct people were very, very knowledgeable and always ready to help us try to get the answer that we wanted to see for the system as opposed to more of a boiler plate response. So we’re very happy not only with the initial response we got on the conversion, but the day-to-day ongoing support we get from the Intacct staff.

The Intacct system is a state of the art, well written architecture, and it’s provided us opportunities to very simply interface with many external operations that we need to talk to on a real-time basis. The Intacct system was very easy for us to integrate. Even our open source customer relationship management and scheduling program found it very easy to interface with Intacct. Intacct took a lot of the pain out of trying to run a very dynamic operation, and it almost makes it today look a little bit too easy.
