Alteryx is a business intelligence platform geared towards data analysts that offers data mining and predictive analytics. It allows users to blend data from disparate sources, including Microsoft Excel, Hadoop and Salesforce, with intuitive drag and drop features to prepare raw data for analytics.
Analysts can create analysis modules/sequences (a sequence of steps that determine how data will be processed or combined with other sources of data for further analysis). Results from such data modules can be shared as a report or exported to other sources, such as Microsoft Excel or data visualization software such as Tableau or QlikView.
Modules can also be packaged as applications within the platform for future use, or for use by other users. Users can download reports in multiple formats, including Excel, XML and PDF files.
Deployment options include on-premise and SaaS (Software as a Service). Pricing is on an annual per user or per server basis.

The inputs are easy to use, the tools are easily understood and well described in the help files and they easily connect with one another. Writing neat output files is made easy regardless of file type. The ability to use R within the module has made a lot of analyses much easier.
The transition to newer versions of Alteryx is much too complicated when you have to skip a few of the in-between versions, which my company often does.
If you are looking for a clear way to visualize the steps required to carry out the steps in your analysis, if you want to be able to incorporate spatial files into the same process as you want to use R, or if you just want an easy to use program that allows a lot of flexibility with the data, this is the best out there.

Alteryx seems to have ever-expanding capabilities.
Some of the error messages can be quite vague and help very little in troubleshooting.
While ArcGIS and MapInfo have been industry standards for years, the R integration and computing power of Alteryx mean it will remain a leader as quantities of data grow in the future.

I love how diverse the product is. I can do a simple data pull to a demographic report to doing regression analysis for a complex model.
The only small complaint I have is that some of the error messages themselves are cryptic and convoluted.
If you have a need for automation, data compilation and data reporting, this is a very diverse tool that can revolutionize your efficiency and give your analysts more time to think critically rather than be bogged down by menial tasks.

The best thing about this product is its ease of use! It's so easy to pick up, and so versatile that anyone can benefit from it.
Some of the formatting and rendering can be tedious/painful, but there is rarely anything that can't be accomplished in some way/shape/form.
Don't let it overwhelm you. It can seem overwhelming at times, with so many tools and different things to do, but typically the best answer is the simplest one.

Between the great customer service, easy UI, online tutorials and sample files, it is a very easy product to use.
There are so many uses it is sometimes hard to know you have the best environment for the software, because different features require different needs.
There are a variety of tools available. Be sure to examine them all.

The interface is intuitive and easy to learn. Alteryx has built in capabilities to export to Tableau and Qlik.
Workflows can become rather large and at times slow to run.
This tool works great for prepping data to be used in Tableau.
