A major ATS system with a background in third-party recruiting, PCRecruiter is a web-based tracking and recruiting solution for Human Resources departments across the globe. PCRecruiter houses a complete solution for contact management and applicant flow in a central hub, allowing access to everything from requisition submittal, on-line job inquiries and hire logging to customizable candidate assessments and surveys.

All of this functionality works in tandem with powerful administrative and marketing metrics, which include bulk emailing, resume parsing, diversity tracking and document storage, and is hosted and available through the Internet. PCRecruiter is ideal for any industry, including staffing agencies, PEOs, maintenance and property management.

PCRecruiter is highly configurable, allowing you to mold the software to suit your business process. Its Applicant Pipeline provides an intuitive drag and drop interface that moves applicants seamlessly from one stage to the next, automatically following up with form letters and keeping a complete history. The available Manager Portal allows for position entry and hiring process monitoring, with email-based requisition approval and customizable templates.

A large selection of customizable, searchable forms and lists for data collection are built in, with Boolean Searching to help locate keywords in all documents: resumes, applications, job descriptions and applicant profiles.

All of this is available with integration into Microsoft Outlook, allowing access to existing schedules, contacts and emails. It also posts to several major job sites, including Monster, CareerBuilder and E-Quest. PCRecruiter's blended support model gives each company personalized start-up training, self-support documents and both email and phone support.

Salespeople provide support during the set up. Hard to get help since they are focused on selling, not supporting.

Recommendations

When you aren't getting responses from your representative, call the main number. Also, be sure you know the steps in your process and look at how the system will work with your process at each step. We found we needed some customization for candidate registration.

All the wishes and ideas I had for Bullhorn, were in PCR. Bullhorn may have them now, yet the ability to have full reporting features (without extra costs), automated emails, roll up lists, scheduling events, rating systems, Outlook integration (without the extra costs) was amazing! Plus, the were excellent on contractual obligations, and very flexible.

Right now, as all tracking systems, it does feel like a challenge to get use to a brand new system and logic. Yet this is for most systems. It would be nice if their 1 user package was just a bit less expensive, though they did work with me on start up costs.

Recommendations

Make sure the full package is what you get. PCR will give you the cart AND the horse. Other ATS's tend to give you a base package (that doesn't fit most ATS needs) and then try to sell the Cadillac package after you lock in, which you really do need.

PC Recruiter is a relatively inexpensive basic recruiting tool. For a small business it provides a reasonable capability to track and categorize candidates.

Likes Least

Poor customer service response. Tried to call early on, and did not receive a response. I stopped trying to use the tool.

Recommendations

Could be more intuitive. I took over a tool with little recruiting experience, and I found the GUI and usage to be a bit complex.

The customer service is terrible. I reached out for a demo and some general questions when I started with the company. It's been 6 months and I still haven't heard back or been reached out to.

Easy to use, no issues with data storage, minimal downtime, not the complexity of some other systems.

While it's easy to add info from a LinkedIn profile to the PCR database, it's not possible to edit the info before it's ingested. For instance, I'd like to be able to put certain candidates in one folder or tear sheet while putting others on a different one. The only way to do this is to individually go through after ingesting the profiles and sort them into lists.

Recommendations

If you use LinkedIn as your primary candidate database, definitely take a look at PCR's LinkedIn Chrome extension. While it doesn't have official LI integration like Bullhorn does, PCR is actually MUCH superior at quickly ingesting candidate info into your database.

Also make sure that the UI and workflow feel comfortable to you. The way that PCR is laid out makes a lot of sense to me, but my coworker had a hard time figuring things out. It doesn't have the same level of user friendliness as Bullhorn, but that doesn't mean that it's not as powerful!

Product has a very rich toolkit of functionality. The people with whom you interact at Main Sequence are very friendly, responsive, and helpful. Pricing model is consistent with the competition. Thorough understanding of how Staffing Agencies function.

Unfortunately the User Interface is awful, requires too many mouse clicks to accomplish simple tasks, makes terrible use of screen "real estate," and has the look and feel of a pre-90's product; not in any way up-to-date with Web 2.0 functionality. It's unfortunate, really, because the product does just about anything that a staffing agency would want - just very clunky (and for the uninitiated very confusing). It feels like the company has grown complacent because of its very large install base.

Recommendations

As with all vendors, 1) ask if you can have access to a "sand-box" environment to test the product, 2) evaluate the product against your list of feature "must haves," and 3) consider who your end-users will be and what their technical proficiency is. This product was so clunky to use that most of the recruiters in our office, and the other 14 around the country, never really used it much.

This is a very comprehensive product with a ton of functionality. Some of the strengths are the intuitiveness of tracking candidates through the pipeline, their templates, their very tight integration with Outlook, their on-boarding training and their customer service. They have some great people over there and they're all very professional, responsive and helpful.

The biggest downside for me is that although any email you receive through Outlook will automatically be synced with the candidate or contact record as long as there's an email address match, there's no way to turn this off, and there's no way to force a sync of that email with a different record. For example, if I am corresponding with a hiring manager about multiple candidates, I don't want all of those emails attached to the hiring manager's record because I won't be able to find anything later when I need it. What I want is to be able to attach that correspondence to the respective candidate it pertains to. This was a show-stopper for me, but they have a large customer-base so apparently it isn't for a lot of people.

Recommendations

Figure out how you operate as a recruiter on a daily basis and find the software that will best help you facilitate that.

I am the IT and Business Consultant to a medium sized Recruiter / Placement Business that specializes in a niche market across USA.

We have used the web based version of PCRecruiter for 8 years since 2008.

As a medium sized business we did not want to fund a custom built program but needed the flexibility to be able to adapt the system in a similar fashion to having our own purpose built system and internal developers.

I first evaluated PCRecruiter (PCR) against several competing products in mid 2008 and found it to be the most versatile for our purpose. The only program of it's type that delivered everything we needed, plus expansion possibilities, was PCRecruiter. Periodically I conduct a similar review for the business and have yet to find a system that offers an advantage over PCRecruiter.

In the 8 years since we started using PCRecruiter we have expanded the system with several customized modules which have been possible within the system due to it's flexible architecture.

Finally I would like to make special mention of the customer support which has proven to be second to none.

I don't really have a dislike about the product or vendor. You usually only have dislikes when the service and product are not up to scratch.

Recommendations

Try to work out what your future needs will be and whether the system will be able to adapt and evolve with you. As an IT and Business Consultant I have found that businesses always change and every change triggers a new change!

Recommendations

We like their customer support. They know their product and provide excellent support. The program is powerful and has many features available that are oriented toward recruiters. It is quick with no lag, interfaces seamlessly with Outlook, has easy to use social media links with Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook etc. The program is customizable to our recruiting process. We highly recommend this product. The price point is competitive.

There is not a lot to dislike. However, there are so many features that are not always easy to find. One other complaint is that their online training manuals are of very little help. However their customer support is the best we have ever encountered with a software vendor. So that offsets the issue with understanding the program.

Recommendations

The sales person was very helpful and showed us many of the features several times to our employees. Look at the ease of use and does the software match your workflow process.

When compared to the other ATS products I reviewed, PCRecruiter offered the most capabilities at the lowest cost. Users are able to access the database wherever there's an internet connection (including on mobile devices) and the user interface is fairly simple to learn, even if you're not a "techie." Hiring managers are able to view candidates and feedback from other interviews. They don't need to ask me for this information anymore. I can also schedule interviews easily from within the system and there is the option to include the Outlook attachment within the email sent to interviewers. We are saving so much time and money by using PCR.

This system has a background in 3rd party staffing agencies so there are many features that a corporate (internal) recruiter wouldn't need to use and that can sometimes be confusing. There are a wide variety of reports available but the formatting isn't as easy to manipulate as, say, Taleo.

The software was at times slow and it was difficult to keep candidates organized, especially if there was a duplicate entry of the same candidate contacted.

Recommendations

If you are in need of an applicant tracking system (ATS) and looking for a cost-efficient solution, I would recommend further exploring PCRecruiter as a talent acquisition tool. There are more user-friendly systems available, but not for their price.
