How easy it is to customize! You can add fields, grids, info centers, workflows and more. Handles multi-currencies and multi-companies.

Sometimes the support analyst doesn't know they are talking to someone how knows the product inside out and asks very basic questions, that I probably already answered.

Recommendations

Best ERP available for Architecture and Engineering firms. 360 degree Project life cycle -- from marketing, win, resource planning, design, to use in marketing the next job.

This is a very well-built application. Supporting is simple, makes sense on the backend and the support is great. It is a big system with lots of pieces so it takes some time to know where everything is.

Likes Least

Support is very pricy, but they are responsive. Hopefully it can make a change in the next few years.

Deltek has good, smart people on board. They are always able to help when needed and they are great at taking user suggestions during updates and upgrades.

Likes Least

There are some products and services clearly geared toward large companies and priced way out of range for a small firm

Recommendations

You ger what you pay for. Deltek Vision is pricey for a small firm, but the capabilities are worth it if you have the culture in your firm to use the system as it's intended.

Customer service is always there and they don't give up. Deltek is continuously looking for feedback and ways to improve their software to better serve their customer. Very robust from the proposal stage to invoicing and financial reporting. A complete ERP system.

Likes Least

It's robust since it covers all the departments in your organization. This makes it complex and hard to learn without time spent in training.

Recommendations

Spend necessary time vetting each module to make the right selection for your business. Don't cut corners. Spend time and money training your employees for better user adoption.

Deltek has been around for a long time and will be here for a long time. There will always be support & updates for the software, always being up to date.

There is not much I like least. It does it's job and function. It could be easier for a smaller company, but works best for a larger company.

Recommendations

Deltek Vision is for a large company. Maybe 100 or more employees. I would not recommend this for a small company, 100 or less employees.

Figure out your needs before you invest. You don't want to invest in a product and not use it to it's full potential.

Customer Care Support is excellent! Like everything else, the more time you can invest, the better off you will be. It provides us one place to capture all of our company's information

Training is expensive but if you can invest the time, it's worth it. The training is very comprehensive and easy to understand once you have the basics down.

Recommendations

Understand what you firm needs before investing. The software is only as good as the information you collect, so be selective but also know that they system can be customized.

I work for a small government contractor that uses Costpoint. It is simple to use and has so many options and versatility. Also love the fact that it's internet based.

Once you learn how the applications work, it becomes very intuitive. The next hurdle to cross is understanding the Reporting process - Deltek has made this function very easy in Vision once you've undergone a little bit of training. It's so much easier that having to write SQL reports. Project information is extremely easy to obtain from the Project Info tab. Payroll is a piece of cake too.

Likes Least

I only use the Core, Payroll and Billing modules so I can't comment on CRM. It's very pricey not only to purchase but also has pricey maintenance fees for a small firm to pay.

Recommendations

The reporting capability of this software is wonderful. You can find out anything related to a project just by looking at the Project Info Center.

I don't like that if I want to partial pay a expense report, I'm unable to. Also don't like that I can't do rates and had to buy an add-on.

The product is designed for architects, engineers and project-based consultants and it does that very well. The best part to me is that it is a 360 degree solution from sales lead tracking to proposal creation to project accounting to overall company financial results and back again. It covers the entire project lifecycle and emphasizes how every piece of data from every stage of that cycle integrates and affects all the other stages.
The vendor is great at taking customer feedback and working that in to future releases of its products.

Likes Least

The only difficult thing we have come across is due to the fact that our company is very small and the software is generally built for mid-sized companies. It means that many of the modules can be overkill for us and the training needs a bit more than we expected to use all the features, bells and whistles.

Recommendations

Talk to your peers and competitors about what they use and the triumphs and pitfalls they have had. Make sure you dedicate enough resources to properly train all users and get buy-in from leadership and a few key "power users"
