With every other software application we have used we are bound by the system architecture to make needed or desired changes. We haven't run into similar limitations with TekMetric. Tekmetric offers a complete shop management system including DVIs, two way texting with customers, online payment options, and multiple integrations with part suppliers and other vendors to make this system shine! It eliminates the need for any paperwork -- all techs have tablets to access their WIPs. Tekmetric offers a feature request board for all users to offer suggestions and to vote on items they would like see added to the platform. Tekmetric actually uses that feedback to implement regular updates to the program (at no additional charge). They actually listen to their customers. Our customers love the Technology and the use of email and text messaging to relay information about the repair, inspection results, estimates and invoices. Their team is diligent in addressing any concerns, issues, bugs or upgrades and always do so in an efficient and kind manner. #### Cons The only complaint I had about Tekmetric has now been resolved and that was their labor time guide. Instead, the learning curve and time spent hunting for basic functions offset any promised benefits.Initial communication was responsive and upbeat. After we signed on, follow-up dropped off. When we needed help the most post-onboarding and during real workflows—responses slowed and solutions felt generic rather than hands-on. The interface feels busy and unintuitive. Too many clicks for simple tasks, and navigation isn’t obvious. Day-to-day actions (building estimates, updating ROs, juggling parts & labor) take longer than they should. It’s hard to get new staff comfortable without heavy training. There are plenty of features on paper. The problem is discoverability and practicality. Advanced options don’t help if basic actions aren’t fast and intuitive. We spent more time figuring out how to use features than benefiting from them. Tekmetric looks powerful, but the complexity, weak follow-through after onboarding, and everyday friction outweighed the benefits for our shop. No incentive was offered Switched from Mitchell1 to do estimates faster. After 2 1/2 months of learning, we switched back. ITS JUST SLOWER. Sorry, but everything takes a million mouse clicks (a mouse is child simple. a keyboard will always be faster). The labor guide lie was too much. Everybody in front of shop felt like the program was still in beta. we were the testers (they wanted us to fill in their labor guide for them), and it wasnt getting fixed quickly. In the end, we switched back, and within two hours, everybody was telling me it was faster writing estimates in mitchell. #### Ratings breakdown - Ease of use: 3/5 - Value for money: 2/5 - Customer support: 3/5 - Functionality: 4/5 #### Pros Texting inspections to customers was a great feature. the job board was almost usable to replace our shopfix whiteboard system. The tech support was full of great people who just couldnt fix issues with the software. The fleet billing is much better than mitchell. It was a little better for the owner. the reports are better, but still have to custom calculate to get what i want. the "customizable" report they said would be so great, didnt include all the data i needed. #### Cons The labor guide was a falsehood. it is so full of holes it is unuseable. I was told by tech support to use mitchells labor guide for $180/mo. Multiple screens running was not actually useful because if you look up parts in one tab and switch to another, the parts tab crashes. The main summary report had lots of very important things missing. The invoice bottom line was obscure. Seems like a small complaint, it cost us hundreds of dollars in mistakes, and they REFUSED to make the bottom line bigger or colored. The schedule was crazy complicated. We just click and drag appointments to change techs. Tekmetric wants you to click (everything is 3 or more clicks) edit a few times, change color, then go in and change tech, and it STILL would not reassign the tech on the job. We just double click an appointment to start an order. Teckmetric you have to clik multiple lines, and then hope you copied your schedule notes, cause they dont cary over. Also be prepared to get email/passwords for every employee, and they will control their info, not you. Features are everywhere and your opinion matters. This software is updated usually a couple of times a week- If you want a change- someone else probably does too. They are great at responding to suggestions and incorporate this into their platform weekly. #### Cons My mistake in not saving my work. It was a change from my previous platform and took some time to change my old habits. It gives accurate sales reporting. It is fairly easy to use and looks great on the screen. #### Cons Since I am the one who deals with the accounting, I can say that there are a few things that could be improved. Tekmetric uses a company called Back Office to integrate with Quick Books. This company has an all or nothing approach to stock items, so there is more to do to have tickets flow into the right categories. It is very easy to change things in the Back Office before integrating, so it is just a matter of a few extra steps. Tekmetric is a sales tool and not an accounting program. We came from a company that did both, but not accurately. #### Reasons for switching to Tekmetric TCS is a terrible software company. They would send minor issues to upper level support and it could take 6months to a year or more to hear back from them. The accounting was not accurate and produced many duplicate tickets and receivers on a whim. This program has simplified the total process helping service writers get jobs done for our customers. #### Ratings breakdown - Ease of use: 5/5 - Functionality: 5/5 #### Pros This software makes my work life easier. There are less clicks to get what you need done, which is a HUGE timesaver. The information pulled from the VIN is helpful, also all of the service info for this specific vehicle, fluid types and quantities, filters and their part numbers, even service bulletins available. I have found that this system helps me keep track of the total process of customers and their vehicle repairs, and the option to send repair estimates to customers allowing them to review and approve from there home or office. Coming from the dealership and using different software, I believe Tekmetric is the best one yet! #### Cons The ONLY thing I would like to see is the ability to build a quick estimate for our customers that call on the phone and they are looking for a quick estimate. #### Vendor response Hey Zach! Our goal in building that was to put everything you need at your fingertips and it looks like it is doing the trick! Regarding quick quotes, this is something we have steered away from because it can cause lost leads. The way we look at it if you are going to take the time to build the quote, atleast get the customer name and phone number so you have a way to follow up on the quote. At first i didn't like how the estimate number follows it till the invoice, after a while we found its better since you don't have to track multiple numbers. We had previously had an online version of a software, this one by far is more user-friendly. Looking up job history is right on a separate tab, we are now using the digital inspection, even if you only take a picture of the bad part and just send that to the customer via email or tex it makes selling the job much easier. This is the only software that you can have unlimited users for no extra charge, so all the techs have one, every software i know charges a fee after 3 users. The tech support is the best in the industry, no one gets back to you as fast like them. They make updates weekly, by far the best in the industry. They help and suppoort the industry and ask for feedback constently. #### Cons Reports could have a little more, they are working on parts return part of the software. I love being able to create our own inspections and being able to load PDFs and photos of ease #### Cons The one downfall I wish we had on this software was able to annotate PDF files along with an actual mobile app. Right now I have it saved as a web app but it doesn't tailor to a phone browser that great. Also if using it on say a windows style tablet you cant directly take a photo of something when hitting the photo button. You would need to take a photo with the device camera then save it then load it. The overall system has been a great improvement from where we used to be. The ease in which it works for us helps with speed and information to our customers. In the long run they get informed when the car is ready and if they need to have extra items done. To add and remove items has got easier as the new additions come into play. #### Cons Earlier when it was growing we needed things and had to wait until they had an update or suggestion. Some items we are still waiting on but most have been addressed. The calendar is a big item for us and we would like for it incorporate staff info or notes. #### Reasons for choosing Tekmetric Price and the speed in which we were listened to and in house training for the staff. We were helped out so much and if we had a question it was answered very quickly.
