Brightwheel is a cloud-based classroom management solution that offers school management tools for teachers, administrators and parents. Key features include attendance tracking, daily reporting, learning management, billing and parent engagement. The solution is fit for school and childcare centers as well as individual caregivers.

Brightwheel allows parents to check in with students and staff through digital signatures, pin codes, QR code scans or a combination of these. Users can track, update and send daily attendance to parents and staff. Staff members can record students’ progress through text and voice messages and share them.

State learning standards and DRDP standards are supported by brightwheel, and users can also create custom learning standards using built-in templates. Parents can also interact with the staff, make payments and receive emergency alerts on their mobile phones.

The solution is available on a per student per month subscription basis which includes support via phone, email and chat.

Our Families Love it!

We communicate directly with families through the day. Our licensing rep loves the reports that we can run and is satisfied by the signature at check out for the incident reports; no more chasing down parents.

Pros

Our families love it and it gives them peace of mind to get through their work day. I can't tell you how many families say, "I love the app, thank you!"

Cons

Our parents would like to post photos to us from time to time.

Genius method of childcare management

We are moving from an outdated paper & pencil management of our school after-care program & this is a spectacular method for tracking students & saving the tediousness of payment at pickup!

Pros

simplistic use for parents/customers, especially from their mobile phones.

Cons

the number of screens & clicking, rather than a dashboard for each student.

Great Software Big Difference

Brightwheel has made billing a breeze for me, as well as communication between parents.

Great and always adding

We used them, went to another program and then returned because they are great at adding new features and customer service.

Pros

Easy on the eyes, parents love it, easy messaging and getting better lesson plan tools.

Cons

Still can’t send a PDF or don’t have live calendars that parents can “subscribe” to.

Amazing tool!

Brightwheel makes it easy for teachers and parents to communicate and the photo features allow us to "tell the story" of our program in a way that is engaging to families.

Pros

Customer service is very responsive to questions, concerns, and ideas for future features. Parent payments are easy to process. Parents love the communication features.

Cons

Some features in the app aren't available on the desktop. Needs more report features.

New home center

I love using brightwheel. It is professional and easy to use. The parents can check in and out quickly when in a hurry. They have expressed that they enjoy seeing a "news feed"of their child's day.

Pros

I like that its digital and covers a variety of uses for my center.

Cons

I can't bill for two children on one invoice. Parents with multiple children have to pay two separate in voices.

Best system for communication in Childcare

My overall experience with Brightwheel has been extremely positive. I recommend it to any school, large or small, looking for a means of communication and organization amongst their program.

Pros

The program is extremely easy to learn to use. My staff and parents are able to download the app and begin communicating with one another instantly. With this program, parents feel as if they are with their child each day, which is invaluable for preschool families. Parents and teachers can communicate in real-time without disrupting their day. This program is the BEST means of communication and most convenient tool for educator documentation I have seen in my 15 years as an Educator and Administrator.

Cons

I would love to see more options with billing and attendance reports. There are still some reports that help with auditing accounts that are not yet part of this program. I would love to be able to quickly pull attendance records for a whole classroom for a week and compare with billing. Unfortunately I do have to pull multiple reports or scan through attendance feeds to do so currently, which does take up a lot of unnecessary time. Brightwheel has; however, been changing and updating constantly to meet our administrative needs!

Overall Fantastic

Brightwheel has been fantastic from Day one. A team member from on-boarding met with me multiple times and talked through everything that I needed for a facility (we aren't a daycare so we had very unique needs). He was very supportive and very honest about what the program could and couldn't do. Then once I signed on one of the team members was a huge help demonstrating the website and helping me set up a plan for launch. Now that we've passed all of that Customer support chat is always available in an hour or less to answer our questions. We haven't had a need to call for support yet but I have full faith that it will be as amazing as everything else has been.

Pros

Parent check in is quick and easy. They simply scan the QR code and finish checking in on their way to class.

Cons

There isn't enough 'search' options. With over 300 students registered there are many places (like the check in/attendance) screen where being able to search for a child would save us a lot of time.

Love Brightwheel!

Brightwheel has streamlined our process for documenting the children's days. It is also greatly helping to open the lines of communication with parents which is a huge benefit.

Pros

Thanks god you exist !!!

I've been using the trial period for a month, and it was amazing, parents loved it. It doesn't take much time, energy and at the same time,​ it gives you an opportunity to show lots and lots of everything.

Pros

I liked everything, it is the easiest way to communicate with parents without answering their calls every 10 min. It will show parents that during the day their children are busy in a good way, they learn new things, explore new feelings and new ways of solving their problems.

Cons

I mean, not that there is anything that I didn't like about this App, but unfortunately in the field of "
emergency pick up" I could not indicate Georgian number. What I'm trying to say is that I love and am using this App in country Georgia and I found it a lit bit difficult to deal with the number system.

A MUST for childcare providers & clients alike!

I love that I am kept in the loop with my child's daily activities. I am a working mom and it's nice to be able to know how her day is going. You can also send and receive messages with the provider through the app, which is key when sometimes it's difficult to communicate effectively during the chaos of drop-off or pick-up.

Pros

Brightwheel offers the amazing option for childcare providers to update the parents in real time. I frequently get updates every time my children have a snack, diaper change, eat a meal, play outside, take a nap, etc. It has the functionality for pictures and videos to be sent to the parents throughout the day. It's extremely quick and easy to use, so it only takes a second for parents to be updated about their children.

Cons

I actually do not have any complaints about Brightwheel. A slight inconvenience would be that the app redirects you to their website to make your payment, but it's still all completely accessible from your smartphone.

Love Brightwheel

I am not good with computers and was very nervous but it has been easier than I thought and now I can’t live without it...neither can my staff or parents.

Pros

I love that everything can be done through this program. It has made my job easier as an owner and the parents absolutely love it. Especially the instant notifications and communication. The instant pictures are awesome too.

Cons

I don’t like that customer service is all done through email. Sometimes I need an instant answer and don’t get a response for hours. And sometimes I can’t explain the issue completely through email to get the right answer I need.

I will say by far that Bright wheel is the best app for school management. it is so clean, easy to use and has all the needed features one needs.

Pros

The ease of access to every tool needed to do all computer work for Registration and Billing.
Easy access to the technicians and representatives with just a click is soo helpful

Cons

it glitches sometimes, adding the same parents' names to 3-4 siblings account can be daunting.
sometimes names do not pop up even if they are on the system.
Names deleted can sometimes appear in billing.

GREAT Classroom Management Tool

Pros

Ease of usability, simple interface that it easy to navigate, and communication tools that send messages to parents right away.

Cons

Customer service isn't fantastic, unfortunately, and being able to bill siblings together would be wonderful.
