ArchivEra Implementation

We're very satisfied with ArchivEra and with Lucidea.

PROS

ArchivEra is an extremely versatile and robust platform which allows us to grow and expand in ways that are necessary for an organization of our size. Additionally, the customer support has been outstanding and we couldn't expect or ask for better service.

CONS

Although it's much advanced over our other systems there are still some ways in which ArchivEra doesn't provide the compilation of data into reports and statistics that we need. This may be in part due to the structure of our data so our sincere hope is that as both we and the system mature into this partnership our needs will more closely coincide with the system's capabilities. Also, the product is constantly growing and becoming more sophisticated which will also help to address our current issues.

A Database for a Large and Important Archive

I had 30 years of experience working with software developers in my working career, and this was far and beyond the best experience I ever had. The database is robust, easy to work with, and is well maintained. If I have a question it is quickly answered to this day. Great people, Great Product.

PROS

I appreciated the robust support we received as we supplied all of our digitized files to be loaded to the database. It was a huge endeavor and it could not have been a success without the technical support we received- whether it was advice on best practices or physical data layouts and content, or data verification and validation, or training on how it all works. We couldn't have completed the project without our technical support, and I liked that everything about the software construction was easy to use.

CONS

There was nothing I disliked, as everything we needed we were able to find a way to make it work. There was only one issue of preference which had to do with whether we could make some records have a different level of access, such as researcher access vs general public. But we couldn't find a way to do that.

Reason for choosing ArchivEra

We first looked for cheaper alternatives, but nothing came close to this product. We were looking for something that was worthy of the archive we had, which was from a famous scientist. We needed something that would be supported indefinitely, and this was the best product when we compared what we saw.

Catholic Diocese of Ballarat archives

I found the most important part of this experience was the transition and support I received from the team at Lecidea in the Melbourne office. It was great to know that I did not have to call the US in the middle of the night to get support. However, the zoom calls I have had with the US Team has also been great.

PROS

I was able to use ArchivEra to include other parts of the CDB archives including the library and objects. I also enjoyed the fact that I could take this system offsite and record objects of significance outside of the archives which might be still used within the Parish.

CONS

Sometimes it was difficult to search for file numbers within the boxed archives.

Reason for choosing ArchivEra

I used ArchivEra as I had previously used T/B Textworks.

Reasons for switching to ArchivEra

There was a need to include additional information and update the archives. There was also a need to add images and PDF files.
