Libris by PhotoShelter is a cloud-based digital asset managemnt solution for businesses in many industries. Users can upload, organize and share digital assets such as photos, videos and more, with no limit on asset size.
Users can upload files from hard drives, servers, cameras or mobile devices. Users can invite an unlimited number of contributors to the account. Assets can also be shared between accounts in cases of collaboration with other users who have existing accounts. Administrators can set custom permissions to allow specific individuals and groups access to only the files they need.
Metadata for all uploaded files is automatically added and saved, and can be edited by users. Users can creat custom metadata tags. Users can also upload office files such as spreadsheets and text documents to Libris. Libris's library supports a nested folder structure for organizing visual galleries.
Libris is priced on a per-year subscription basis.

I like how easy to use the platform is. Its ease of use allows others to use and upload additional content to the albums that I share with them.
The pricing can be a bit off-putting to some, but it wasn't too bad for when I started using the platform.
If all you want is a software to hold images on, this is great. It does not have any dynamic features.
I like the ability to upload a mass amount of videos. Most softwares have a cap, but Libris Photoshelter does not. I also like the customization that you are given to order your images in each gallery.
I do not like that you cannot customize the orders of the collections. They appear alphabetically which is not the most successful strategy for our brand.

The Libris connector really does not give our designers the easy access tools necessary for working with InDesign at a reasonable price. They are having to download the images first and use Adobe Bridge to connect. It also does not allow designers to drag and drop images when they just want to see how something might look in a quick and easy format unlike other programs.

My job is much easier, simple as that. It aids myself, but more importantly, aids our front office to access our digital archive in a much quicker and timely manner, especially when away from the office setting.
The ability to have our entire archive accessible 24/7 through a website and the ease of use in sending photos at any time of the day. Our front office is using photos in a more timely manner and the search function has aided their endeavor for photos rather that our previous method of going through folder-by-folder on a server.
That there is no app available yet for mobile devices. Working in sports and the need for immediate access to photos, a mobile app is almost a necessity. Once an app is created, that will immensely help our workflow as a team.

Photoshelter has a great navigation structure that enables you to easily sort, navigate, and find the exact assets you're looking for. We can customize how we archive our photos, which is a huge help. The search function has numerous options that allow you to be as broad or specific as you desire. Additionally, the capabilities to limit who can see which photo sets and to track who downloads what provides brand security.
Preview images can take a while to load, although I'm not sure if that originates on with our IT infrastructure of Photoshelter's. Additionally, unless you are using an iMac, the metadata and gallery panels take up a substantial portion of your screen, limiting how many photos you can view at a time.

It allows us to be as organized to the highest degree. Which is something that we need. I haven't fully experienced everything about Libris, but I am certainly looking forward to using going on. It also makes it easier for me to get photos from the photographers when they are out of the office, (more than likely shooting something new). But it allows me access without them having to essentially hand deliver me photos to use.
Sometimes the organization can be a hindrance. Having to go through extra steps just because of how organized it is. I'm not a huge fan of having to given permission to everything. I had a problem that every time I needed to get something I had to be given permissions or something. EVERY TIME i tried to get a file. But that was corrected.

The creation of a Digital Library has allowed us to modernize and organize our digital assets, turning more than 125 years of history out of file folders and onto the web. The ability for researchers, alumni, fans, family and friends to find information that otherwise be hidden away will and has been a major advancement for our program.
Libris and Photoshelter's outward facing interface allowed for the creation of the Cornell Athletics Digital Library, allowing alumni, friends and fans access to this digital repository of Big Red history. Photos can be viewed for free or purchased for posterity. Video clips, game stories, newspaper clippings and more will be available for viewing and downloading.
It is both easy to navigate on the front end and simple to manage and search on the back end. it's upload and download time and quick send options also allow us to easily manage our media relations functions.
Batch downloading can sometimes be a challenge when needing things between nested folders, but that's a user problem. Software really has everything we need.

It is very user-friendly and takes organization to a whole new level. It is so easy to go in and locate archived photos or videos in just a few simple clicks! There is no other software like it on the market.
There are very few cons when it comes to Libris. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is that it is a little bland and slightly interface, although not sure how much they can liven it up without sacrificing the software's efficiency.

Easily share photos with team
I love that I can easily create folders and upload photos to share with members of our team here on campus. I love that Libris is user friendly and has amazing customer support.
One thing that I would like to have added is an easier way to share photos with those who do NOT have a Libris acct. When I send out a link to photos outside of our team some have a hard time access with the password etc...

A more simplified digital asset management process with over 100,000 assets without being completely overwhelmed and a friendly account representative that I could email anytime if I had any issues, concerns, etc.
How intuitive it is - I set up a training session just to familiarize myself with the software with the assistance of customer support and he was extremely helpful, though most of it naturally made so much sense!
I wish I could rearrange items/edit metadata on photos while I was uploading others but it's a hazard of the trade so I understand why this is not feature

Centralized content management platform. Can be used in more ways than just as a repository. We can utilize it going both directions for our class program.
I'm too new to the platform to decide this but the user permissions vs seats and invited and other users is a little confusing right now.

I primarily search and tag images and I have found that to be very easy to do in Libris. It is easy to categorize, file, and send images to my coworkers.
It holds so many photos that it takes me a long time to go through everything! That's a pretty good problem to have though.

Created a central location for staff to view, upload and download photos.
Love that we can add contributors to upload directly to our library. It has really helped us organize our photos, which were located on various hard drives, CDs, DVDs, and servers. It is a work in progress right now; we are moving batches of photos over as time allows us. We will be working with other city departments to provide them access to upload and search/download the full library as we move along. Staff training was very helpful and we set up naming conventions, procedures and policies before beginning to use Libris.
Would like to have more slots available for internal users, but we are making it work for us as a city. Otherwise, we haven't been able to break the product.

The ability to batch update IPTC metadata was key for us. In addition, the ability to monetize our photo library is a feature we're interested in but have not utilized yet. Also, prior to implementing Libris, our team would have to load various logo/image assets onto flash drives before traveling to events. Now, we can browse our entire library anywhere we have an internet connection.
One challenge we've had is that not all photographers are comfortable with the upload process. We need to figure out how to make the upload process easier for our various freelancers.

We are easily able to access all of our content and finally have a shared platform to upload everything. Being able to tag photos and search by the keyword is essential in a team that is geographically separated and the interface is easy to navigate. Libris was kind enough to grant our non-profit access to their 5TB storage program for free and we couldn't be more excited about this partnership.
Files that I am attempting to take from the system and transfer to my computer take a long time even if the file is not very large.

Because there are so many functions, I sometimes have difficulty figuring out how best to utilize them all. However, I am sure that the more time I spend in the application the better I will be able to utilize it.

Better storage, speed, and organization of photos.
One storage place to rule them all, with shared tags, custom tags, unlimited contributors. We especially like that photos can live in multiple galleries.
Permissions can be tricky to get right, and the sales system is not the easiest. Also, we are still working on a good system where contributor photos can be easily integrated into our archives without creating a heavy workload for the administrators.
