Autocad for "part-time" civil engineer
Once I tried to draw my own home's plan but could not manage software requires a lot of time and patience.
PROSIt manages extremely large projects with exact measures and details. It gives availability to work in 3D Space. Cloud function helps to get advantage to work as a team.
CONSIt needs strong computer resources. Without qualified tutorials, it is like impossible to work on this program. Besides the price is so expensive.
Reason for choosing AutoCAD
Why I was considering these three versions I checked mainly the price, ease of use and functionality so that AutoCAD became my first choice.
Reasons for switching to AutoCAD
Autocad has 3D navigation and 3D scanning which are features you will not find in SketchUp, besides AutoCAD pricing is better than SketchUp.

Autocad = Quality
It's a good experience, I learned a lot, from 2D drawing to 3D renderings that could take hours. Being able to create scenarios and then demonstrate them to an audience was quite nice, as well as the quality of the renderings. I liked the fact that they have a lot of tools and how easy they are to use.
PROSI really like the way it works, its tools remind me a lot of other products from other brands, which made me get familiar with the product faster. At first when I downloaded the program, I thought it would be impossible for me to understand it since I had never had an approach to this type of drawing programs, but inside the program you can learn a lot, since it has small help boxes that come out every time you want to use a tool.
CONSPossibly what I liked the least, was the unexpected shutdowns that the program gave me, this happened mostly when working with 3D models, it was a bit annoying, but the autosave worked. In the same way, I never liked the file saving, I always had to look for the folder where I wanted to save it, even if it was always the same one.
Reason for choosing AutoCAD
On the recommendation of many people, I was told that it was the best way to work and I decided to try it.

A critical program that often doesn't live up to its potential.
This program is on the out in terms of office use, but it has proven pretty reliable. The drafting tools are adequate and fulfill most of the challenges when assembling a drawing. There are some major gaps and omissions with the tools when compared to other programs like Rhino. Performance issues are the biggest road block that Autodesk hasn't seemed to iron out over the lifetime of the product. It still chugs and freezes at inopportune times, particularly between model and paper space. Revit is this future, but this will get you by.
PROSRobust linking and organization tools. File formats that are easily transferred to other programs. Relatively simple UI.
CONSPerformance issues abound. This program uses more RAM and CPU power than it has the right to. A lot of freezing and hang-ups even on beefy machines. Some very frustrating UI decisions and limitations with commands.
