Jonas Premier is a true cloud, all in one accounting, job cost, project, document and drawing management solution, specifically designed to meet the needs of General Contractors, Land Developers, and Homebuilders. The cloud-based solution comprises of various integrated modules such as accounting, job costing & estimating, billing, time & expense, reporting and inventory management.

Jonas Premier accounting module is capable of handling multi-company, multi-division and intercompany financial transactions. A fully customizable management dashboard offers drill-down capabilities to view detailed business information. Job costing & estimating module allows contractors to track cost estimates and generate level wise job costing breakdown reports. The solution also offers tools to track essential documents such as RFIs, submittals, transmittals and punch lists. Both contractors and the on-site teams can view and enter daily job logs on their mobile phones by installing Jonas mobile apps available for Android and iOS smartphones.

With Jonas Premier, users can also manage purchase orders, billing and expense reporting activities. Some of the additional benefits include employee time & expense management, centralized document management and custom approval workflow management.

Perfect Construction Accounting Solution for Small Contractor

More time you take to set this product up correctly, the more it will benefit you in the end... Take your time and get it set up right!

Pros

Jonas Premier has a very user friendly interface, and allows for more customization than a product like QuickBooks or Sage 100 for a small contractor. Most software packages in the cloud don't allow for easy integration with Microsoft products, however, Jonas Premier does an excellent job of allowing for quick data entry via uploads (something QuickBooks specifically doesn't allow out of the box). Getting up and running with the software was easy and enjoyable through the webinars hosted by customer support.

Cons

Seems like this product needs some work in reporting. The whole software interface is nice and crisp and looks up to date using current technology, but the reporting mechanism seems like it's a little archaic. That said, you can get a lot of data easily (and quicker) through Excel, and if you are handy with Excel, reports are easily made.

We transitioned from Jobpac to Jonas Premier and feel that from an accounts perspective it has significantly reduced my workload.

It is user-friendly

excellent support if provides. (One of the customer representatives has been fantastic)

Cons

Can be glitches and times. The refresh sometimes lags and you need to quit in an out of screens. However I understand they are looking at addressing this problem.

Pros

System is continuously been improved on each update and become more user friendly. Excel feature and transferring data from excel to Jonas is one of the best feature available and it reduces much of our work. Customer service is excellent

Overall I think this product has a lot of potential but to begin the training needs to improve.

Pros

I enjoyed that Jonas Premier was accessible via the internet so one could log in anywhere. The platform base was also very easy to navigate around

Cons

I thought the training for this new product was missing many components which caused much more work when trying to solve issues or research items. The system was not very intuitive and the report writing was not very strong in user friendliness either.

Pros

Has significant reporting and job costings benifits for small to medium builders. Intersgrates well with Microsoft Power BI software to make reporting easier to present. It's been great to have all contract and variations in the one place.

Cons

Can be a little difficult at first to get your head around, and some clunky aspects to processes having to move through several screens to process AP and AR invocies.

There is just about nothing intuitive about this software. I have been using Simply accounting for more than 10 years without a problem. i was lost using this system. There are so many steps for a simple entry that it became ridiculous.

Pros

It does everything for construction management. It stores drawings, alerts everyone of change orders ccnn's , rfi's and does accopunting too.

Cons

My bookkeeper looked at it and asked if I would mind if she took the info from my entries and continued using sage. There is no payroll with this. They suggest outsourcing payroll - another added expense

We knew that going into a new software would have it's challenges and obstacles but the overall experience was fantastic from beginning to end. The Implementation team was outstanding. The level of support and customer service is A+ in my books and made all the difference.

Pros

Ease of use . I really like the simplicity of this product.

Cons

It can take multiple reports to get to what I'm searching for. More advanced features within the mobile app would be great.

Advice to Others

If you're looking for a fully integrated solution, then Premier is the solution for you. This product has helped save us time and become much more efficient on a day to day basis. Be open to collaborating with them and sharing ideas - they really do listen.

Maturing with JONAS

It was hard work. The JONAS staff was always encouraging and available. I feel that JONAS is not just a product we use but a partner with MAX Construction, Inc. I love sharing my ideas with JONAS. Some even are being adopted. Some are not, but as a team we are getting the best of both worlds and a product that can be catered to our needs. JONAS listens and adapts the ideas that will benefit the majority.

Pros

All information is in real time. Now that we are set up and operating we are developing the reports, and switching over to JONAS as our total system. Eventually we hope to be paperless. I love that I can access JONAS from anywhere in the world. I like the challenge of making this product something special. It looks like it was written for our needs only and yet it services such a large variety of customers.

Cons

It would be nice if all documents could be scrolled.

Advice to Others

Adopting a new system takes diligence. Do not expect it to work overnight. Connect frequently with JONAS support. Collaborate with them and share your ideas. Read the tips of the week. They are fantastic.

This software is the easiest one I have ever used and I have been exposed to quite a few. The navigation through the system is setup in the exact steps in which you should accomplish your tasks. The setup has been easy and very informative from the webex videos and one on one sessions. As a financial executive, I need to get to reports quickly and see all of the pertinent information which is easily done with this software.

I am still looking for what I like least. I have not found any areas that I would say I dislike at this time. Some software you like, you ask yourself, why would they set it up this way, that doesn't make sense. With this software, I am not finding myself asking that question. It makes sense.

Recommendations

Attend the webex sessions and do the assigned homework. Each session is recorded and emailed to you afterwards so if you were not able to attend the live session, you have a copy to watch later, but don't get behind and criticize the software due to a lack of effort. You will get out of it what you put into it.

We're just getting started with this program and are really excited to be able to manage all our projects through one system. The ability to manage all project management and accounting through a single source should really help streamline our operations and communications between office and field activities. Setting warnings and workflow approval processes are paramount to us having success and becoming more efficient in our production and expediting payments. All of this can be done in this software.

What I can say though, is that anytime I have an issue finding anything or working with the system, or even "I think this would be better if"... the Jonas team always helps us out, listens to our suggestions, and then they really look into making changes or improvements, like "Scrolling" through all the data! But if I were to suggest....

-Custom reporting options

Recommendations

1. You'll need good internet service to run well as this is a cloud based system.
2. Jonas allows you to setup and run multiple companies on it, whereas some others only allow one.

Premier allows us to job cost with as much or as little detail based on each project's requirements. There is no duplication of effort when it comes to data entry. The data that our accounting staff enters becomes meaningful information when reviewed in form of financial reports.

In comparison to basic accounting programs, in general there are extra steps to accomplish some tasks. However, this is most likely a result of integrating detailed job costing with accounting.

Recommendations

It is one of the better software to quickly adapt to.
Navigation through the menus is a breeze with the quick menu.
Set ups and uploads was not painful at all.
Once your uploads templates are properly filled, the uploads are quick & easy.

The staff of Jonas Premiere are all friendly and very helpful.
They are very knowledgeable about their products and updates.
It's always a pleasant experience talking to them.

Its great for managing jobs. You can upload pictures and documents to the jobs. The accounting side seems solid. I would very much recommend this to a General Contractor to manage sub-trades and all together management.

It's not designed to work well with small contractors. It does not function with retail sales at all and has no capability to create work orders. I think i might lean toward Jonas Enterprise for that.

Recommendations

Do your homework, and don't be afraid to pull the plug before your in too deep if it's not a fit. Also don't try to get a software to adapt to your habits. Adapt your habits for the software.

Cons

The usability of the software has a bit to be desired. Scrolling and looking for in information it can be tedious to drag scroll bars. Hopefully the new software will be easier to work with windows.

Although we're only in the training phase, the entire process from initial inquiry through purchase and training thus far has been SIMPLE, CLEAR, and completely supported by the Jonas team.

Communication is great. The Jonas team's responsiveness is quick and to the point. The software appears to provide complex detail, yet is intuitive and simple to set up. The interconnectivity between Excel and Word is beautiful.

As frosting on the cake, Jonas staff are friendly, yes even genial, to deal with.

Pros: only use what you need, easy to navigate between modules, great reporting capabilities, easy user set up - users only have access to what they need to do their job. Easy AP and AR. Forms are customizable and Word, Excel and Outlook Add-ins are available. There is an online community of users you can search for answers in, you can vote on other user ideas and submit your own to Jonas to see if they would consider implementing. They are always progressing based on the user needs.

Cons: If you are looking to go live and start using this program right away it might not be for you. There are about 15-20 training sessions that should be attended with homework along the way. We've been told there is a "fast track" way to speed up the training sessions if needed. Also, we just discovered any invoice entry into the program during training will not transmit to your real company when you go live. So don't try to do real time accounting during training and hope to use it in the future, just use the time to practice and understand the system.

Details: You will have to dedicate time to the training sessions, homework and 1 on 1 sessions with Jonas employees. While you are in training you get to use a test company to practice and are actually setting up your OWN company structure - banking, GL, customers, vendors, employees, cost codes, etc.... we used ViewPoint Construction software for years and finally decided the version we were using was too expensive and too intense for our needs.

Every program has limitations, but Jonas meets most requirements of job costing/accounting for a general contractor. Cons include no payroll option, however there are work-arounds that get the job done. Pros-The company is well organized with an outstanding customer service philosophy. They are always looking to improve the product and keep in close contact with their clients. The program has easily customizable subcontracts and forms. This program is a very good value!

*Premier is cloud based making it easily accessible on any computer. This eliminates the need to install the program on various office computers. It also eliminates the need for a server in the office to back up the data.
*Premier covers all of our accounting and project management needs. As they expand the software (ie. added Project Management), we are using fewer external software product. We are able to do all of our accounting and project management in one package. This has simplified the process of change orders, subcontracts, etc where accounting and project management cross paths.
*Premier has a common layout from one screen to the next. This has made it easy to train people on using the software. As a trainee becomes proficient at one aspect of the accounting/project management, I can easily add another screen/task to their duties.
*They have recently added a new community website that allows me to submit, and keep track of my cases. I can also submit ideas for future development of the software and review and promote others ideas.
*The Premier team is very helpful and quick to respond when I have a question or problem. When I submit a case, they will call me, usually the same day, if they need more information to understand my problem. They check in with me on a regular basis to see if I am need anything. There is a quarterly webinar to keep us up to date on what has been added to the program, what is in the works for the future, and to find out what we consider our main issues with the program. There are monthly "continuing education" webinars on how to use Jonas Premier more efficiently

It meets all of our reporting needs, however the reporting still needs some work, but they are working on some new reporting options.

Great support team
Good price point for small/Mid-sized contractors

Cons:
Relatively new software and prone to the occasional "Bug"
Does not have a payroll function

Overall:
We are a new company and frankly didn't know what to expect from any software, but have been happy with our decision. Jonas has been a pleasure to work with in both implementation and support.

Jonas Software is a very good product, includes a low learning curve and a system that's easy to use. As well the system gather data from all aspects of our construction process and allow us to better manage our costs in our construction departments with better reporting tools.
There is a lot of information in Jonas that can be used to analyze your company, also Jonas Software ensured accuracy, offers the security, reliability and a very quick response time on any queries.
I would recommend Jonas for its support staff because they will always ensure that we understand all aspects and functions of the software system.

Jonas Premier is an intuitive solution for contractor's needing 24/7 access to accounting / job costing information. The implementation was efficient and their support team is very responsive. Jonas is working to develop a payroll module which will result in additional value. We have requested additional, system generated reporting and Jonas has responded. Overall, we find Premier to provide a great balance between ease-of-use and the rigidity required of a robust accounting solution.

Jonas Premier is a great product for all construction companies of any size. It allows you to be more organized and provides powerful real-time information for management.

As a contractor with minimal accounting/bookeeping experience I found the training process very logical and straight forward. The training staff at Jonas take their time to make sure you really understand how the system works.

The job costing module lets you stay on top of things and provides alerts to help you make adjustments to costs in real time. The progress billing module helps make sure that all of your money is accounted for. You can great custom forms for invoices, change orders and billing applications.

The program is setup logically with most modules flowing in the same way. Once you learn how to use one you can use them all.

Another very important feature is the reporting. Reports can be viewed online or exported to Excel or PDF. Reports can also be customized to suit your needs.

I find that sometimes the system will glitch out and need to be restarted from time to time. Also, if you do not have high speed internet (I don't on Baffin Island) you'll spend a bit of time waiting for the system to process information.

The good news is that whenever there is an issue with the system the support team is always there to help. Their talented staff respond to issues in a timely manner and are always willing to go the extra mile to make sure that my issues are resolved.

Pretty much perfect for our use. Solid, stable and can utilize it anywhere. Being on the go, I don't need to be tied to the office. It's simple, intuitive and provides the value we need. Though we are only a small construction firm, we will be able to grow without outgrowing the scale of the software. The software has come along way since launch, and the direction it is on is comforting. Hope some time in the future, an equipment/fleet module will come to be, to top it off.
