User-friendly survey tool for children and young people in care

In December 2022, the Department for Child Protection (DCP) engaged AtlasOpen after they were successful in securing the tender to develop a survey tool for children and young people in care. It was clear from the beginning that AtlasOpen understood DCP’s vision and were dedicated to achieving our goal. Whilst Atlasopen had not previously worked in the child protection space, they enthusiastically endeavoured to understand what DCP was trying to achieve at every stage of the project. The team delivered a survey tool that was highly configurable, customisable, and captured the needs of children and young people as well as case workers. Throughout the process, Atlasopen were professional, adaptable and responsive. With shifting strategic priorities and additional functionality requirements for DCP, [sensitive content hidden] and the team were able to move sprints and testing to accommodate our needs easily and quickly. The team worked in close collaboration with DCP’s [sensitive content hidden] and subject matter experts to deliver a survey tool within pre-determined timeframes and costs. They explained complex technical components in simple, easy to understand terms and regularly facilitated open conversations and communicated clearly. Their dedication to the development of the survey tool was ever present. Both the [sensitive content hidden] visited Adelaide to meet and conduct testing with a youth advisory group who were responsible for co-designing the survey tool. AtlasOpen incorporated all feedback provided by the young people and followed-up with users to ensure they had captured all elements raised. My Voice Our Views has been in use in DCP for almost 10 months and we have seen excellent uptake across our regional offices. Children and young people of all ages are reportedly engaging well with the survey tool and are sharing their experiences about their time in care. AtlasOpen exceeded DCP’s expectations, and we look forward to continuing to work with [sensitive content hidden] and the team in the future.
