Housecall Pro is a cloud-based field service management app for service professionals to automate their workflows. This solution includes a native mobile app and complementary web portal and serves a wide range of industries, such as cleaning, plumbing, electrical, HVAC and more.

Housecall Pro allows companies to forego paperwork in favor of digital automation. It offers features such as job scheduling, dispatching, payment processing, estimates, automated receipts and invoices, customer notifications, company chat, as well as postcard and email marketing automation.

Customers can book services via the HouseCall mobile app, communicate through a centralized messaging system and make online payments.

The mobile app can be accessed on both Android and iOS devices. There is a free version for single owner/operators, which offers many of the core features of the paid version. Premium pricing is based on the number of users, and an enterprise license is also available.

This solution is available across the U.S. and Canada.

Pros

It's simple to use yet powerful. Our customers love the notifications they receive letting them know we are on the way. We love the ability to set tags and see job and payment status. The chat support from HouseCall Pro has been wonderful. And, their team is always responsive and creative in helping us come up with solutions to our specific business needs.

Cons

We have an extensive inventory list. This took us a while to set up. However, we knew this before making our decision to transition to HouseCall Pro. In the end we're getting a custom catalog. So, it's been well worth the effort.

Our previous system was outdated and offered no customization or detailed history so this makes a big difference. This hit all of our major needs as well as many of our wants. It's simple enough that someone without a lot of tech/app experience can jump right into using it. Their are useful video tutorials if they want more assistance.

Pros

Being able to see customer history is a big thing for us - I can go to the customer and see all of the times we've been out. Seeing real time updates is a huge plus - I can see photos from the job site and notes immediately after our tech submits them in the field which means we can start ordering parts or anything else we need to do right away. Scheduling is easy and our techs get updates on their phone with all of the info they need right away. I like customizing employees photos and colors so visually the schedule is easy to tell who is scheduled before even clicking to get detail. The start and finish button are fantastic. One of the most useful features beyond basic scheduling is job tags and the ability to run reports. I can export our appointment data and sort it so we can really see where our time is being spend and how. Customer support/chat is really helpful.

Cons

There are a few features and functions that we would like that are not currently offered - fortunately they welcome feedback and do take our requests as considerations for future updates

Easy to use, has customer history for previous jobs, google maps easily accessible for navigation, scheduling and payment options are very smooth except 3% credit charge.

Cons

Address from app sometimes comes up as a different house number on google, no debit card payment option and 3% fee deduction from credit transactions.

I love the ability of keeping the customer "in the loop". They know when their appointment is, they also get notification that our tech is on the way (along with his name). They get invoices digitally, and estimates get sent digitally, giving them the ability to accept or decline the estimate right there online.

Cons

I wish that the conversations in the app between the customer and the technician would be made a part of the customer file and accessible through back-office end.

As a startup, HouseCall Pro has given us the ability to focus on our customers, and company metrics without getting bogged down in data entry, or worse yet...stacks of paper!!

Pros

It’s been a great way to facilitate and enhance communication and end user experience with our customers as well as within company.

Cons

Although there are alternatives, such as the iPhone only app or for Admins, logging in through a browser, there is currently no iPad app available.

Combined most of my programs into one

We are a commercial cleaning business and have been in business for almost 20 years. For the last few years we have been transitioning from paper to digital. We have multiple employees, that are private contractors. They work at several locations. Each location has it's own pricing. Most times any additional services or charges added to a job are reported back with in a day or two.
We were using a paper calendar for on the go access, that was then copied to a shared online calendar. That information was entered into an invoicing program and invoices were emailed via a private email account. The process from work ordered to invoice sent could take up to a week depending on when our employees got back with information about the job.

Going into this next year we decided to try an "all in one" program. Housecall Pro so far has been great! It has most of the features we need. I love the app feature that comes with this program. It pings the employee when a job is assigned. Reminds them of upcoming work, gives directions to the location and lets them add details, pictures, or services to that job on site.

My workload has been cut significantly, allowing me to get to other administrative demands finished that usually get pushed into my weekend. Having the calendar, employee assignment, clients, services, and invoicing all in one place is amazing.
I've had to make some adjustments and "tricks", since it is a basic program. But nothing enough that's made it difficult to use.

Overall it has taken a good amount of stress and transition from our plate.

For single users to a company with multiple employees, this program can do a lot for you.

Pros

Convenience, combines most of your business programs into one easy to use program
Customer Service, with offices on both coasts I am able to get in contact with customer service within 10 minutes.
Accessibility, I can access the program from any computer with internet connection or use my phone via the app.
Faster Reporting, employees out on the job can add details, services, or new jobs on sight.
Cuts out bridges between programs and communication, I can enter in a job on the program, assign my employee and it's sent to whomever I need it to be sent to (employee or client) saves me from having to enter it onto either a paper calendar, or a shared calendar, and then notifying the employee of the job and then waiting on a report that they have completed the work.
No contract - you can do monthly, half year or annual commitments

Cons

Limited customization, I have to incorporate my own item code to personalize my clients services. The invoices are also limited on what can be changed/added
Only completed jobs can be searched. There's no search or sort option for each client. So I have to scroll through jobs. Once a client accumulates work it can be a hassle to scroll though pages of information.
Confirmation emails, because the invoices are sent though the program. I don't receive confirmation emails. It only show what has been sent.

If I had a company that only did one day jobs like a maid service, this would be a great program. But, as a handyman company, we often have to return to finish project, it is not efficient.

Pros

It makes keeps track of invoices, customers, and productivity very well. I love that a text can be shot to the customer and let them know we are on our way and when we are done. Invoicing is easy and the credit card processing works smoothly. It integrates with Quickbooks very well. I love the automatic send out of a Thank You post card to my closed invoices.

Cons

This program does not work well if your company has multiple workers through out the day, at a multiple day jobs, for one customer. The only way to get around this is to use the segment feature, which is clunky and not available from the app. Each segment generates it's own invoice automatically. Which created complications for us. Very frustrating.
Also, I do not like that customers have to join Housecall pro to receive texts and when they do they see and can access my competitors who also use Housecall pro.

We are able to eliminate the paper invoices and show when the tech arrived and finished if needed. This helps in a lot of areas. It also has helped us to see which invoices have not been received and /or paid as the case may be. Having a signature that we can email with the invoice is so helpful!

Pros

I do like being able to set up a schedule and change it when needed. It is good to have the knowledge of where the technician is if needed.
I like being able to see who has not paid and when.
Being able to see when the job was started, finished, changes made and submission to client is a big help.
The ability to capture a signature is one of our favorite features.
It is very easy to use once you have mastered the basics. There are a few things that were challenging to discover how to do it and needed some explanations.
Over all it is a really great program.

Cons

We have had a few problems learning the software. Most of the support staff and very good and extremely helpful. There are a couple that need further training or something. The easiest thing is to wait and then contact them later. Sometimes you need to ask for someone in particular. If I am working on the app late at night or after hours then I will need to wait but that has worked out so far.
I hope that maybe they will be able to program it to be able to add segments to a recurring job. I have a job that always takes at least 3-5 days. That means it needs to have segments and that of course means I can't make it recurring every 2 months.
We had a little trouble switching over to a different phone but we got it worked out and now everything is fine.

Has job and customer tracking. intuitive and simple. Also the estimates can be templated so it saves me time. I like the drag down way I can fill my estimate quickly with an item list I set up in advance. Also tracks my estimate landed ratio and tracks payments. Nice.

Cons

the email templated has to be customized every time I send a bid! So annoying when I can template the entire bid not to be able to template the intro email! Also there are many steps to get to an invoice. Only customers are able to be searched on header and not estimates or invoices . So all my customers need to be sorted through to get to their estimate. Much easier if I could open estimate or invoice directly.

The software is easy to use on a desk top and mobile app. I started to use it for scheduling only and found out that it is much more than that. We are a small company that is growing and house call is an easy way to help manage my schedule and my growing crew. The ability to send invoices and have the customer pay is amazing. There are many features that I'm discovering and there is probably much more to come, because the software is constantly improving.

Cons

sometimes the page take a little long to load when used on mobile app. sometimes I have to restart the app.

I was able to gather payroll data without interrupting the team or management to get the data I needed to do my job.

Pros: Multiple user input availability, with management oversight. Loved that you can see homeowner and management instructions right on screen so nothing gets missed.

Cons

Cons: Originally the timekeeping was really difficult to work with but it has gotten much better.
It's been a few month's since I've been using the app so I'm sure it has improved since.

Pros

I like the fact that using this software is very user friendly. The support staff is responsive and provides excellent customer service. It is easy to enter customers and jobs in the system. I have not utilized all the features such as dispatch, taking customer credit cards, marketing campaigns, and integration with Quickbooks but I know these features are there should we decide to implement them.

Cons

I wish the software was a little faster when I access it, but the speed at which I access the database could be a function of slower internet speeds rather than the software itself.

The recurring job feature and the ability to sync with QB. If you have recurring clients such as we do in lawn care, then you can set you weekly or Bi-Weekly services up for the entire year and adjust them as needed based on grass growth. Still working on snow removal part of it.

Cons

Doesn't sync with QB Desktop(much cheaper than online) and still can't figure out how to schedule bulk jobs all at once...such as when a snow storm hits and we have to quickly start sending people out to clear 100 different locations within hours. This is a challenge so I still have to use Excel Spreadsheet to get it done. Could just be I haven't been able to figure out how to easily do it within the system.

The scheduling portion is extremely helpful Being able to set up repeating events is great. Also the photo of the home and being able to jump between navigation and the app is easy.

Cons

Learning how to take a payment with having to copy (or duplicate) a job was a little weird at first but I've gotten used to it.

Pros

This software is so simple to use and so meaningful to my business practices. I used to schedule appointments straight through Outlook which was good but Housecall Pro is on another level of good. I can schedule my appointments easily.

Cons

I would be ashamed to say anything bad about this software. However, a voice command feature similar to Alexa would be a dream come true.

I would like to have the option to have to charge link into on email removed.
I would like to have email campaigns not only card campaigns.

Detailed reports. Financial overviews and automated invoices. I like the fact that you can pay online via the emailed invoice, and the approval/decline process for estimates.

Cons

Credit card fees are high. Needs more integrations. I was also promised a half off installation fee, but didn't get one. And when I saw the month plan was the same as the free, I canceled. The month plan said it had email marketing, but it was unavailable.
