Jobber Software


 

Jobber is a cloud-based field service and landscaping solution designed for small and midsize businesses. The solution offers features like scheduling, invoicing, a client database, quotes and more.

The scheduling module allows users to update jobs in real time, including information on progress and completion. Jobber can set up individual jobs or a recurring contract, assigning multiple employees on a single job. Jobber offers drag-and-drop functionality when moving appointments. Invoices are sent automatically via email and follow-ups are built in. Jobber partners with various electronic payment apps, such as Stripe and Paypal for all its transactions.

Jobber’s customer relationship management (CRM) module tracks contact information, and users can create custom fields, tags, attach files or phones and more. It links multiple properties under an account. All of this is connected back to the billing and work history.

Jobber offers services on a monthly subscription basis that includes support via email and through an online knowledge base.

Jobber is fairly easy to use once you've had it for a while. They payment integrations are fantastic and the workflow from quote to job completion is great as well.

Cons

This team is VERY unresponsive to feature requests. Basically, if you have a feature need they'll all but let you know that they are not interested in hearing about it. Simple things like being able to mark all tasks as complete are not available and when I requested it I was brushed off. I have been asking, for years, for a way to link Jobber to external "form builder" software so that when a user requests a quote from my website it shows up in Jobber. Hasn't happened. Also having to move an employee to "Pro" jsut so they can use the timesheet feature is just stupid.

JOBBER HAS IT ALL BUT FALL SHORT ON THE BASICS

The basics of what Jobber is built around is route scheduling and can do so much more. The basics of being able to simply organize routes while out in the field (like other apps offer) has been overlooked

Pros

Jobber is a great idea with excellent customer support. The support for this product is through the roof excellent! The overall programming is huge, you can do a ton of stuff with Jobber.

Cons

The Achilles heel is this; jobber is designed to be used as a route manager for administrators and employees. The idea is that an employee can load up his or her daily tasks and go to work. From an employee’s stand point that is easy enough. Click on the first job for the day and they are off . . . . .

First part of the problem we are experiencing with jobber is that if the employee is not within a good service area the photos and service notes for that home will not upload AND WILL NOT be kept in cue until the employee gets into a decent service range. If you have spotty service where your route is this will not work for you. You'll end up going back to paper logs.
FOR AN ADMINISTRATOR - jobber really sets up work nicely for the day, week, and month very nicely BUT has some really important short comings that you should be aware of PRIOR to starting this service..... As an administrator you cannot mass assign or unassign routes to and from employees. You cannot memorize the modifications to a daily route but one click.
JOBBER needs to be able to allow us to set up routes as a whole NOT just individual’s one at a time to create routes. FOR EXAMPLE: we need to be able to go into a master list of clients, click and drag those clients into a “MONDAY A” route and or a “MONDAY B” route and the same for Tuesday and Wednesday etc. etc. . . . . if we want to make changes to a route as a single entity we should be able to do that as opposed to what we have to do now which is change each individual client to be on a different day one at a time for the next 6 months and or 10 years
FOR EXAMPLE, we have three routes per day each route has approximately 20 visits. If an employee calls in sick and we need to reassign 20 visits to another employee we have to do it manually for EACH CLIENT as opposed to just reassigning and entire route to another employee.

WHAT WOULD BE MOST HELPFUL AND CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE FROM JOBBER, would be to adjust routes on the "map" page and have it ask us if we want to memorize the reorganization of that route for all future visits or just that one day. The way that it is limited requires me to go in and manually change EVERY JOB ONE BY ONE to the route organization. This process takes approximately 1 to 2 entire minutes to complete depending on whether or not the visits are reoccurring for the next 6 months or six years . . . . . 1 to 2 minutes times 20 minutes obviously doesn’t work for any administrator at all.....the only way around this is to make the changes daily or weekly which is labor intensive and your will be paying for this each time your employee has to redo the routes.

Overall, this is the best program IMO of the 4 or 5 I tried while looking for something that would work for my business. Customer support is great. And I like some of the different ways I can customize information for unusual jobs that come up from time to time.

Pros

The ability to generate quotes, then turn them into jobs, and once completed into invoices, and do it with minimal steps. This frees up time for me to focus on building new business, and enables my employees to do some of what I used to have to do. Also useful is the ability to attach notes both to a customers information, as well as to individual jobs, which is useful for both passing on special requests a customer may have for all jobs, as well as information that is specific to a particular job.

Cons

The program rounds financial numbers slightly different than accounting programs such as QBO. Which means that when we sync to QBO, there are often several minor corrections of 0.01 cent that need to be done. Would be nice to see that changed.

I would also like to see an email notification 'OPTION' where customers would be notified if a job was skipped. There should also be a section for the reason why it was skipped. We should be able to make these reasons whatever we want in the settings... THIS IS HUGE!

The amount of time I spend notifying clients we have skipped a lawn cut due to "Minimal growth" or "The lawn too wet to cut" or "Cannot access the back lawn"...

This is such an important need of ours. I want to use Jobber for the next 30 years but if these changes do not happen we may create our own program one day - I DO NOT WANT TO DO THAT!

OVERALL I WOULD RECOMMEND JOBBER TO ANYONE WHO NEEDS HELP WITH SCHEDULING & INVOICING!

Pros

I like the fact that Jobber will not allow you to forget about any jobs, quotes, & most importantly invoices...
The invoices are very professional looking. The ease of use of the software is awesome! The help/support there for you from their team is 10 out of 10/Tops/ the best! It does NOT get better as far as customer service goes...

Cons

I would like to see us be able to "Bold, italic, underline, etc" the fonts in invoices, jobs, everything! We should be able to format the font the same way we can in say - Google email!

This is a great product for a small, startup business or a business that is just getting started with a digital workflow system.

Pros

This software has a nice, simple interface which is easy to use and navigate. It does not require a bunch of setup to start using it. The cost is a great value for what you get based on our research of other products.

Cons

I wish they offered an electronic check payment option. It has some ability to customize forms and templates, but I would appreciate more options.

Easy as an Iphone to use and implement. Very simple layout. Syncs fairly seemlessly. Easy to get employees set up (except every time I had to call them to resend the email for employees - it never generated). Map feature, timer are great for use by staff.

Can't download all notes and details for each customer easily. No main database access. Text features limited and another additional cost. Field workers have to be given FULL "editable" access to be able to put a payment in the system. Field app has been simplified to the point of useless. No real CRM. Can't make changes to set up the way you do things (like having "check" as the default in a payment) which makes several extra clicks here and there which is frustrating on a daily basis.

Recommendations

Watch out for all the costs. Add-ons most companies will need/want make the price go up and up. (Still cheaper than some others but not as robust) If there is something you really want in a product, ask their staff if it is coming in the immediate future. Things take 6-12 months to implement it seems.

The app. Once it was updated, we lost the ability for the crew to see their schedules and to update their time if they messed it up. Also if a job is not scheduled for that day, then they cannot assign their hours to the job on the app.

I'd like to see more automatic uploads of our communications with clients via email and phone in Jobber.

I'd like to see job costing analysis to see if we were profitable on certain types of jobs.

Recommendations

Does not help with job costing, so you'll need something separate from that.

Its annoying. the fact that I cant write an invoice without creating a "job" which is basically basically creating an invoice before creating an invoice makes me do the work twice. sometimes it doesn't associate the "Job" with the invoice even though it was part of creating it. its stressful.

good luck marking invoices paid if they are under the same company name. you'll have to inspect each invoice because the list of pending payments wont show the address of the work site that you need to mark paid. instead you need to have the invoice number jobber gave you even if the company you billed doesn't show it on the checks.

The invoice it creates is very picky about changes in the settings. it wouldn't let me leave a blank space so I had to insert a period instead. otherwise the page wont refresh.

Don't use the built in calendar to assist you with your due jobs. you have better luck using hotmails calendar. if you do you'll get really confused about which jobs you've created invoices for and which ones you haven't.

Recommendations

make sure the program supports "service address" instead of shipping address. when I searched for an invoicing program i had to call a few of them to ask this question.

Jobber software is very intuitive and has features that make sense and are easy to use. Many of the program functions seem to have been designed by people from our industry, therefore they are very useful in day to day operations.

Cons

We wish there were ways to import completed job forms to my customers so they could receive a report on finished work and recommendations for future visits. I also would like confirmed appointments to be more easily visible from the calendar/ grid views.

The functionality of this product and the ability to add or take away certain features was incredible! We got everything we needed but didn't have to pay for the things we didn't need. In the service industry there are so many different scales of business and needs we felt this was a perfect approach.

Cons

They have entirely changed their payment structure and thus have made this product 4x that of market value. We'll be switching to a similar product but with a much lower cost. Wish it could have ended differently.

Routing, invoicing, easy use for clients, payments are awesome when they sync right in to the software.

Pros

I really like the ease of use. It's nice to have everything sync directly between the Jobber software and QuickBooks. Also love the app and the freedom it allows for working out in the field and routing crews to get to their jobs.

Cons

Wish it had a tracker for GPS for the trucks I sent out every day. It would make it easier to track how long the guys are at a job if they forget to start the timer on the app. Have some issues sometimes with the payments syncing to QuickBooks, but I think this issue has been resolved.

We were previously using only carbon papers for all of our work order management. Now moving forward everything will be tracked and easy to manage and far easier to connect with our customers.

Very easy to navigate menus. Text message reminders to clients. Integrates with Quickbooks for both the customer records as well as the Products and Services. It also has a customer portal where the customer can view all of their quotes and invoices, as well as request new work, an awesome feature.

Cons

Lack of job costing, but you can add expenses and I've been told costing is in the plans. Would like some more features in the quote area such as optional items and attaching images to items.

I'm able to save money on payroll because Jobber takes the place of a full time office manager.

Pros

Because of what can be done with this software I have been able to trim off many hours of office time from my schedule.

Cons

There are a few functions that I would like to see that are not currently available. I'd like to be able to customize the way my account works a little more (somewhat like the way the Real Green software works).

I am able to keep track of mountains of information todo with 1000 service calls per year. There is space to upload and file every sticky note, picture, material costs, client details all sorted by property. At your finger tips and sharable with team members. Repeat business is one click, no more double entries.

Cons

Would like better options for paper forms generation (work orders). Over the two years we have sent a lot of feedback to jobber over feature tweaks, they are very responsive and you can see the results in product updates.

Don't have to remember to create invoices - it reminds me about it, as well as creates invoices on pre-set up schedule. Takes time to put your head around it, but it's worth it!

Pros

I love mapping, work schedules, templates and ability to add photos to client accounts, as well as paypal option!

Cons

No integrated CRM
No automated invoices
No reminders of invoices being due, only reminders for visits - what is not relevant

I really like the Calendar I use it daily and is exactly what I needed. The invoices are nice and professional. I m happy with everything

Cons

The total is in Red when the balance forward is sent. Most people dont like red...I do that means they owe me money. That is the one this only.

That my employees can use this in the field and I can check in on them in real time with ease. I love that I can send reminder texts and on way texts to our clients to reduce cancellations and save money. In all aspects of our scheduling for both employees and customers - Jobber takes care of it all.

Cons

There are occasional glitches that have happened with the appointment scheduling, as can be expected, but nothing major has happened to cause issues that can't be resolved quickly.

They are always looking for ways to improve the software. If you don't like something TELL them... They will evaluate and change if it's a common theme among users.

Cons

I'm personally not a fan of the different number between quote, job, and invoice.. It can get confusing.

Field access to job info, scheduling. Ability for field to input hours, pictures and notes.

Pros

Simple, fairly easy to use, affordable for small businesses, Quickbooks sync is great, app is good for l field personnel. Overall I think its a good software for a small business to grow with.

Cons

The app isn't great for anyone but field techs but the mobile version works fine on a smartphone, so for schedulers, sales, etc that would need more access, they can work outside of the app. Some aspects of the program can be clunky, but for the price its not a big deal and I'm sure it will get better over time.

We are able to better manage our customer relations, invoicing, and employee work management by using this software. There are a few changes we wish would be improved to increase our efficiency and ease of use with the software, but the other benefits Jobber has over their competitors led us to settle for those issues anyway.

Pros

I like how we can combine our communication with customers and employees into one software. I think it has a lot of potential for us as we expand to use with our customers. I like the ability for us to take cc and sync job requests on our website.

Cons

There are a few features missing that make it really hard to deal with. The tasks cannot be organized on the grid feature which is very frustrating for scheduling purposes. Time punches cannot be made from tasks so it is difficult to track work directly related to the work and requires more steps in the process.
