With functionality for employee record keeping, PTO tracking, recruiting and more, Built for Teams offers a Web-based HR platform ideal for small- and mid-sized companies in the U.S.

Along with detailed digital records of all company personnel and an interactive, shareable organization chart that’s always up-to-date, the platform features I-9 and employee agreement tracking. It also offers detailed employee and company metrics on turnover, demographics, compensation and more.

Collaboration is the focus, as Built for Teams allows multiple users to share and shortlist job candidates for open positions. Employees can access the system as well to submit time off requests, view their PTO balances and more.

Custom fields can be added to employee profiles for added flexibility, and equipment tracking ensures that any laptops or other office equipment is accounted for with each employee.

Company directories will also stay updated and vacation accrual rates can be set at an employee or organizational level. Pricing for Built for Teams is based on a per-employee, per-month basis.

Ease of use by employee and supervisor. The ability to quickly see and approve leave requests. The system is completely paperless.

Cons

The employee can't easily print out/access a report of his time taken. He can easily see what is left and what the screen shows but he can't print his history.

Your employees do have the ability to view their complete history, which shows every transaction (even for past years). It sounds like it would be helpful for you if we made the transaction history easier to print, though. Is that correct?

the portal is easy & simple to navigate & executing time off requests are quick and easy. Employees had no issue learning & navigating in the system.

Cons

when an email is issued to the manager, once the manager approves via email, there no indication that the time off email request was approved/denied. In other words, if there are many time off requests are emailed from various employees, there is no way you are able to tell which you've approved/denied, unless you go into the portal to view what's left.

The software is easy to use and it is intuitive for someone who doesn't use the software often. Meaning that it is still easy to find what you are looking for - you don't have to memorize a process....just the name.

Cons

The times to select for when we will be out; they are not conducive to a school schedule. The hours represent an office style job for an 8am to 5pm and are only in half an hour increments. If it were possible to change these per account, schools need a little more flexibility because otherwise teachers are taking out a little more time from their personal days.

It is an easy and efficient way to ask for time off, much more efficient then write a formal paper request.

Pros

Simple and efficient. This system is very easy to use. I am able to quickly submit time to my administrator and they can approve instantly.

Cons

This system shows my total accumulated hours. At my school, we only take full or half days of PTO so it would be more convenient to have the time divided in that manner.

The aggregated out-of-office calendar is very useful for providing visibility across multiple teams and ensuring that the necessary approvals are made.

Cons

Approvals can sometimes take awhile and it's not clear how to check the status of them. We would have liked to see if e.g. someone has looked at a PTO request, or a way to send reminders to take follow up action.

Great feedback! It's true that approvers don't always take immediate action when they receive the PTO request notifications (even though the notifications themselves are immediate). Because the notifications are primarily via email, there isn't a reliable way to know if the approver has "looked at" a PTO request but...would it help if the system sent reminder emails to the approvers, reminding them that they have PTO requests still awaiting their review?

Reid, we're sympathetic to the fact that having to formally request time off isn't quite as convenient as a quick verbal heads up to your supervisor. The downside, as you know, is that an informal process doesn't lend itself to accuracy.

With companies needing to tracking and report on numbers, there's a bit of necessary process but our goal is to make that process the best it possibly can be. We'll keep working on making this process as painless as possible so that someday you hopefully feel this is just as easy as the verbal RTO request!

Is there anything else we can do to improve in order to merit a 10/10?

Consolidation of PTO request across multiple International offices.

Pros

Built for Teams is a feature rich solution that. Managing PTO request across multiple office Internationally has been a difficult challenge. The sales team was very responsive to our request and needs and found a way to make our different situation work. The deployment was smooth, with the support team staying close during the entire process. Fast response times, and frequent check-ins during the process. Feature rich solution with all and more than we needed.

Cons

It would be nice to have better filtering options on the Directory and People tabs. Its not really a con, but more of a feature request.
