With functionality for employee record keeping, PTO tracking, recruiting and more, Built for Teams offers a Web-based HR platform ideal for small- and mid-sized companies in the U.S.

Along with detailed digital records of all company personnel and an interactive, shareable organization chart that’s always up-to-date, the platform features I-9 and employee agreement tracking. It also offers detailed employee and company metrics on turnover, demographics, compensation and more.

Collaboration is the focus, as Built for Teams allows multiple users to share and shortlist job candidates for open positions. Employees can access the system as well to submit time off requests, view their PTO balances and more.

Custom fields can be added to employee profiles for added flexibility, and equipment tracking ensures that any laptops or other office equipment is accounted for with each employee.

Company directories will also stay updated and vacation accrual rates can be set at an employee or organizational level. Pricing for Built for Teams is based on a per-employee, per-month basis.

I like how easy it is to select what days I am selecting for vacation, and seeing how I accrue my PTO and how it get's used.

Cons

I do not like how it is difficult to tell the overall amount of time I have of PTO, and that I needed the admin of the system to allow me to dip into the negative hours, even though I would eventually accrue that time.

Visual presentation of the org chart

Pros

It is very easy to use and you are able to view the entire org chart by zooming it in and out. It contains all the information that we need and show the company structure on one screen.

Cons

The width of the org chart gets very wide when you have multiple divisions, it can be more mobile friendly and such more responsive though the company has many many sub-divisions.

Peace of Mind that PTO was being approved and tracked in a reasonable manner. We are a small growing office and we were outgrowing the honor system.

Pros

Enjoyed the ease of tracking and approving PTO. This has really streamlined the approval process and the planning of our Office PTO to avoid conflicts.

Cons

We find it tedious as we need to manually Pro-Rate the PTO allowed each year per employee based on policy. An auto calculator for this function would be nice.

Easily able to notify my employer when I am taking time off, while keeping track of my own hours. Simply and engaging software!

Pros

I like that Built for Teams helps employees keep track of any earned time off in a detailed manner. I also love the feature that allows an employee to send a message to their employer with the reason for their time off.

Cons

Occasionally there is a need to take time off that is less than 30 minutes. With Built for Teams, we must take at least 30 minutes off at a time (rather than say, 15 minutes).

Calendar feature showing when people have time off, anniversaries, holidays, pending pto, etc. It's very easy to see when people will be out of the office, or their request needs to be reviewed, along with company holidays always being visible to the team.

Cons

Maps doesn't always recognize address so when we were trying to pick a new place to move our office it wasn't very useful.

The easy PTO tracking. We use Quickbooks payroll and the Quickbooks time off tracking is impossible. Built for Teams has an easy interface for the employees, and great tools for HR.

Cons

No easy way to document warnings or other disciplinary steps leading to termination. It would also be nice if there was a way to track percent effort or timesheets.

Ease of use for both administrators and employees, and fluid and easily accessible place for important information such as PTO and recruiting.

Pros

The software itself is a just right fit. We don't have loads of features that we don't need or use. It is simple and powerful, and that makes it easy for our employees to use regularly, which is the only way a system can really be successful within an organization.

Overall we are satisfied. I think we used to be able to pull a report on terminated employees but that's not an option anymore. It would be useful. Also we find it hard to keep track of employees rolling over PTO year after year (eligible for up to 3 days per year, up to 10 days) - it's just confusing and some kind of tool that could help us with tracking that would be amazing. We also have part time employees with different eligibility and it would be nice to be able to set the roll-over rate individually vs. the same number being applicable to all and then we have to go in and change it for the PT employees. Email customer service is quick and good. Thanks.

Built for Teams has streamlined our employee tracking and PTO usage. Prior to built we attempted to maintain multiple spread sheets and forms for PTO approvals and tracking along with employee information. Built has allowed us to consolidate all of those systems into one user friendly system and has improved our accuracy in tracking and approving PTO. Our employees are especially enjoying the ability to log in and see how much PTO they have at anytime. Customer support is fantastic and the developers continue to add new features and reports that continue bringing added value to us as a Built user.
