Review of MPower Beverage (Wine & Spirits)

This program has given us the ability to sort through a lot of inventory that is not moving and to keep in stock at all times our fastest movers. We believe it has made a significant difference in our sales. Once learned, it is not a difficult program to use. The staff at MPower is extremely responsive to requests to changes in program reports, etc.

PROS

Purchase orders made easily - I like the fact that I can create a "my list" during the course of the week; add products to it; delete products that we decide not be primary buys for the week; and then "click" it right into a PO with the company who handles the product. Ability to make notes on the PO for the receiving personnel; ability to track movement of a product for ANY given period or day; report of percentage of m/u from all suppliers; ability to report product movement within a department in order to determine which products move faster

CONS

Difficulty in finding a product that might be duplicated with the same Item #. Once found, there is a little bit of difficulty in deleting it from inventory.

Excellent POS Software

The technical support team is extremely responsive each time we call with an issue. The price of this software, along with the invaluable support offered at an annual fee, and the daily back-up is a bargain! We definitely will be continuing with this software.

PROS

Easy to use, versatile reports, history reporting across all departments, technical assistance is provided timely.

CONS

Integration with credit card processing through VANTIV. We have had numerous issues with this credit processing company regarding rate fees changes without any given notice. Further, we do not like the confusing display on the credit card processing machine. It is unlike any other retail store that we have found.

Salute Beer Distributor after 15 months of operations

- Overall mPower is a good idea BUT it is barely in the infancy stage BUT charge you a Premium Price. The system is a breath away from death. - If you run a sloppy, inefficient business, with low standards & expectations, mPower is for you. - If you run an efficient, detailed driven, customer service focused business I would suggest you stay away from mPower. After 40 years of running multiple successful businesses I promise you mPower will disappoint.

PROS

The program offers pretty much everything you need, reports & operationally, to operate a liquor store. Scanner works well.

CONS

- Credit Card servicing with Open Edge is awful. Customer cannot choose Debit or Credit. Updating to "no signature" required a different machine but now the screen is NOT a touch screen... It is just a messy system and not customer friendly. The reason for the "fail" on Open Edges side is the lack of efficient programming on mPowers part. - Updates are a mess. First, mPower does have the ability to do automatic updates on a regular basis. When you call and need something. It often requires an update. Sometimes it can be done immediately - sometimes it cannot. I currently need an update that will take approx. 20 minutes to install. I am on the east coast and open at 9am. Help Desk (in Colorado - I believe) (CSR) says based on his time would have to come in "too early" to install the update for me before I open SO WHAT WOULD BE A GOOD TIME FOR ME TO SHUT DOWN MY STORE FOR 20 MINUTES TO DO THE UPDATE! - Questions you ask are regularly a future update AND after 15 months the same updates are STILL FUTURE UPDATES. - This program is piggy backed on an expensive Dell computer. Should have seen this as a bad sign before I purchased the system. - The Help Desk is NOT a help desk unless you catch them Mon - Fri during banker hours. Leaving a message for the help desk to call back is just poor. Evening & weekends the Help Desk is "On Call"!!!! - There is so much more I could say but this typing will get me nowhere & my time is valuable.

The Retail Package is a very user-friendly program that is versatile.

PROS

The vendor is there is help assist in your setup and initial training. If you have problems or questions after the initial training, they are very willing to continue assistance until you have a better understanding.

CONS

So far there is nothing I have found in the program that I do not like. It is very adaptable and versatile to change, when certain circumstances or sales arise that are not in the initial setup.

All in all it will do what it is designed to do, but missing some really useful features.

PROS

Powerful back office. Inventory management is good. Decent amount of sales information. My list feature is a nice way to do multiple POs. Print tickets feature is nice for printing new price tags on the fly. Multiple SKUs is great for tracking inventory on items you may break up. POS is fairly easy to operate and is probably the easiest part of package to use overall. Remote access capability. Very basic tutorial videos available. Tech support is fairly knowledgeable about how the software works.

CONS

Can be a bit cumbersome navigating the software at times as well as manipulating reports how you need them. Have to call support to get features turned on constantly that should already be pushed out on updates or should've been installed initially. Updates don't come in regularly. Tech support is not really available 24/7. Often times I communicate by e-mail or have to leave a message. Currently am still waiting for some advertised features to be implemented on our system. No auto generate reports. Very tedious doing inventory updates even with scan inventory feature. Journal only available on POS software. Back office displays transactions in unorganized manner (not by time, just date). Missing a lot of POS features as well that could simplify a manager or owners process. No per employee cash logs without letting them see your sales of the day. Only work with certain credit card processors for integration. No coupon module for abuse tracking, auto scanning coupons. Lately seems tech support is getting frustrated with me. This software will simplify some things and complicate others.

Overall, I have been happy with mPower.

PROS

It's user-friendly. They have good tech support. I'm able to install the back office on multiple devices for remote access.

CONS

I wish there were a faster way to input inventory (e.g., data collector or scanner capabilities for back office).
