QuickBooks Pro is a comprehensive accounting solution designed for small and midsize enterprise customers. It offers accounting functionalities such as core accounting, project accounting, expense management and payroll management within a suite.

The software features “Bank Account Reconciliation,” which allows users to link bank accounts and define workflow for the enterprise accounting activities from a single bank account. This allows users make automated payments and deposits and also manage the employee payroll accounts using a single portal.

QuickBooks Pro also helps automate the billing and invoicing and work order management from the reconciliation window.

Users can sync, link and import data from applications they already use, such as PayPal, American Express and Square. All the transactions are automatically categorized to make a note of earning and spend.

This system can be installed both on-premise and in the cloud.

Bad timing to ask for a review. I get an email that says I need to update payment on my account, click the button, the circus begins. The biggest flaw is how many different logins you might have and not knowing which one is supposed to be used for what, so you lock yourself out of everything. I have to have so many different logins for different products and checking my own paystubs, that it just is messy. Every year I have to call in to get help just to update payments. I research on the computer for the way to long just to try to reactivate my stupid subscription. The dumb red exclamation thing says reactivate on my homepage, I try to, but it keeps taking me through ridiculous loops of entering passwords, shows me my account, then I try to update payment, says I'm not the right login or person!? I am angry at how much time I spend on this, I shouldn't have to go through a tutorial, email or try to contact customer support, just to update my stupid subscription! I can't find what version I am using, what I am getting, etc. I am smart enough to have earned a master's degree and engineering and to be running 2 separate companies, but can't figure out how to update my freaking credit card? This can't ALL be user error. I have spent over an hour trying to update payment so that I can run payroll. Dumb.

Pros

The software itself is pretty good. Seems to be the go to for most small businesses. I run payroll and reports, enter bills and write checks, the rest my accountant does, so I trust her recommendation as to what to use, she recommends this for us currently, so it is what we use.

Cons

Although the software itself is pretty good, it seems behind in terms of how you should be able to sort and print reports, seems buggy sometimes too in that regard. I should be able to do more custom graphs in my opinion with all the data that is being inputted. We tried using the enterprise edition a few years back and using it for inventory control. Clunky and frustrating, we quit and downgraded. CUSTOMER SUPPORT is almost always TERRIBLE, i.e. I give up and try to figure it out myself or call someone in my accountants office, because I know I will just end up frustrated if I try to get help from Intuit, Quickbooks, or whoever I am trying to contact.

Advice to Others

Learn the basics, hire out the rest to a certified accountant. Don't let someone unqualified set up your quickbooks that ends up stealing from the company. You will be left to figure out the tangled mess of logins that were created, you may never unravel it, even if you spend hours trying to figure out the map of everything and get on the phone with customer service to help. If you are not an accountant, just do the bare minimum in quickbooks, hire an accountant to reconcile and do all your taxes, and then keep an eye one everything. And don't try to manage inventory or PO's, unless you have help from an accountant, a good honest one, from the beginning.

I have been working on QuickBooks and it is very functional for small to maybe midsize companies, however, it is very basic and mostly geared towards companies who sell products and not services. Also, the reporting function is not very adaptable. As we have grown, you can easily outgrow Quickbooks.

Pros

It is generally easy to use.

Cons

It's reporting is very fixed. There are 2 types of report layouts within which you can change the parameters, but it does not let you modify the reports to your own needs.

Advice to Others

It is very cost effective for small type entities who need only straight accounting so if you are a start up it's a good place to start. It is good value for money.

Quickbooks Pro online version is a good first step for startup businesses. You adapt to it not the other way around. Some of the bookkeeping processes is a bit crunchy.

I would recommend this to other property managers and landlords. The online bill pay has made it easier for us to collect rents.

Bulletproof product for basic accounting and GL. Combine with add on products and you can create very good solutions for small to mid size company. Easy to upgrade and easy to train on. Good new features relative to older versions.

Change from QB 2016 to QB online

Overall it was a very easy transition from the desktop version to the online version.

The online version has a few issues that cannot be resolved that make it hard. We have multiple customers that have a parent company that are the bill to and there are multiple ship to companies. This did not come over in the transition and we needed to make new customers for the ship to's and attach them to the parent company. Also in the sales reports we cannot aggregate all the ship to's into the main parent.

Also have ran into some bugs that make it impossible to do things. Example, there were some inventory items that were deleted when they had negative amounts and somehow this makes it so we can never close a period. Not sure why this can't be fixed but it seems like it should be.

Overall, this product is good but too simple for some areas of our business such as inventory and production management.

This is a great product to help sort your expeses and deductions. But it's no cake walk that's for sure. It's definately a learning curve as not everyone has the time to sit down and learn but we all know that it's necessary to learn it. Often times than not, people give up and hire a bookkeeper to do the job for you but it's also important to know where and how your money is spent.

Advice to Others

Before you purchase, make sure you have a good basic understanding of how book keeping works. This does much more than book keeping but if you're an semi pro accountant, this is the tool for you.

We are a small-medium sized manufacturing company with about 1,500 parts and services used in QuickBooks. When we opened we went with QuickBooks because of familiarity and the fact that the enterprise edition was advertised to have an advanced inventory feature. We are happy with the inventory features and they work very well.

The problems we have ran in to are that we use blanket Sales Orders and we use weekly order sheets that we invoice from. There is nothing in QuickBooks between Sales Orders and Invoicing.

The other issue we have is the multiple user interface. We have 5 users and we are constantly having to wait to perform an action because someone else is doing something completely different. We have contacted QuickBooks several times to resolve this issue to no avail.

Quickbooks is a great program for a variety of uses in nearly every sector of business. Like I said in the title, it really is all in the setup. If you take the time to set up your QB account the way it needs to be set up for your business in particular, you will never have an issue. It's even potentially worth consulting with a professional to make sure that you have all of your business processes and needs programmed into Quickbooks to ensure ease of use and full functionality. Great program, multiple applications, great customer facing product, easy to brand and great integrations make Quickbooks a fantastic program.

I've had limited use but pretty functional. Have had issues opening and accessing files from time to time.
