BuilderTREND is a construction management system for home builders and remodelers. It combines project scheduling, project management, customer management, and service management in a single suite. As a Web-based platform, this system can be accessed anywhere with a computer or mobile device. 

BuilderTREND provides pre-sale tools, including a built-in CRM system and quick bids and proposals. Project management tools include scheduling, budgeting and time sheets. Customer management tools include change order and selection management, warranty requests and payment processing.

This system also integrates with other valuable solutions, such as QuickBooks and Xero.

BuilderTREND provides each company with an account manager to provide unlimited training and support. Also included are daily webinars, the BuilderTREND Learning Community, a 24/7 help section and BuilderTREND University.

Recommendations

Definitely better than trying to work off of a handful of spreadsheets but wont cure all ills.

Support is readily available. Has functional capability to enhance the construction process, streamlined communication between owner, builder and subcontractors when used fully.

Likes Least

Project calendar does not update automatically based on a completion date. Finish dates must be moved manually. No written documentation on starting out / set up and for each module, although videos and live support is very helpful.

I like getting the updates from the field and the pictures that they are attaching. The selection feature is nice. The client can review the item and can go to the website to see other options.

The calendar when it is printed out kinds sucks. Wish there were more options with what you can see and printing out.

Recommendations

Figure out what features work for you. There are a lot of features and can get overwhelming. Focusing on what your company uses is best.

I love that there are constant upgrades to the system and that they are always looking to improve. I love the tech support people, they are very helpful and courteous - and don't hesitate to ask another tech if they cannot answer my question. This saves me time! I LOVE the plug in to Quickbooks, I can't even tell you how much time this saves us. I just love that they constantly improve, like the on screen markups, the Change Orders, etc. There's nothing I DON'T like, and only a few things I can think of to improve on.

I don't like that you cannot add notes to the budget screen. I can add notes when I add the estimate, but life would be much easier if I could show those notes on the budget screen.

Recommendations

Don't just look at the bidding and budgeting options of this software, talk to your other users, i.e. accounting and field reps for their input. BT is a much better all around option.

There's nothing that I've encountered that wasn't quickly explained, changed, resolved or updated quickly. No complaints.

Recommendations

If you are a builder, there's no need to look anywhere else. The program is well worth the money, takes a little bit to learn...but the process is seamless and exciting. We use it functionally for project management and for marketing/lead tracking...and I believe we have only scratched the surface of what this program is capable of.

We do over 300 siding, windows, roofs and gutters projects year and BT is the back bone for managing these projects

I really can't justify complaining about the product or support, I wish more of my suggestions were implemented but I understand what's important to me is not important to everyone else and changes to design scope have to be evaluated and priority ranked. It would be nice if we could host our own forms directly and pass values to our BT account.

BT is powerful and flexible, take your time to design what you want it to do for your company and implement in phases.

The customizable features with permissions, access, and ability to show notes only staff but not homeowner etc. The homeowner portal is great and allows us to communicate, schedule, keep track or finances and gives the team up to date information.

Very few things. Occasionally a homeowner will have trouble and not like using it. We use it internally but don't require our customers to. It is meant to help all but they can choose not to take advantage of the technology.

Recommendations

There is a learning curve and takes time to find what works for you and your needs but we have found it to be the best money we spend and depend on it daily. It has provided accountability with us internally, credibility and built trust with our customers, helped differentiate us against competition, and transparency between us and our customers.
The global messages feature is great. If someone is not available we can go under the global feature to see what has been communicated and allows us to continue and provides a seamless experience for our customers.

It is use friendly, not too difficult to figure out, very forward thinking... by using it you can see that the developers have a good sense of what we do as professionals and have thought of all of the ways we can use BuilderTrend and have built the product with that in mind, very cool! You customer service and technical support is second to none. I call you at least once a week and I think that there was only one time that the person answering couldn't answer my question. Superb!

There are little edits that I think that you could fix easily... but the process to get something changed is horrible. I don't want to post something on a community chat...

I want to send an email and say, "Hey, it would be really nice to have the ability to make my font BOLD or change the color of the type in the log note section... " instead of the way you handle that today.

Recommendations

You HAVE to use it for awhile.... before you begin to fully understand the capacity of the software and how it can help you. I truly believe that this product will help us provide better documentation, accurately understand the needs and wants of our customer, and collect money on our projects fast and more efficiently than ever before.

It's easy to use. I like that we can upload invoices with each PO, so that we can retrieve them easily if we need to ever look them up again, or for reference. It saves us from going through file cabinets full old invoices. Support team is great.

(Love the logo too. Size medium t-shirt would be a nice addition to my t-shirt collection. Just saying)

I'd like to see more search functions. For example; a search function that would search for unique invoice numbers, or for a dollar amount.
Sometimes the longer PO #'s get cut off when we sync to Quick Books. And syncing can be slow if you're using a non-cloud based accounting platform like our Quick Books.

I would recommend it! Your support team has been incredible! I've worked with our personal contact at Builder Trend and he's been awesome. And, I recently had the pleasure to work another person at Builder Trend when my contact was on vacation and he was great too!
