BuilderTREND is an award winning construction management system for home builders and remodelers. It combines project scheduling, project management, customer management, and service management in a single suite. As a Web-based platform, this system can be accessed anywhere with a computer or mobile device. 

BuilderTREND provides pre-sale tools, including a built-in CRM system and quick bids and proposals. Project management tools include scheduling, budgeting and time sheets. Customer management tools include change order and selection management, warranty requests and payment processing.

This system also integrates with other valuable solutions, such as QuickBooks and Xero.

I like the way I can log in. Get directions. Specific job discription. If I need permits, I can then goto the time card. And clock in with gps.

When the site is shut down or under repair. There is no warning or email sent out. Think it is my conection. Till I figure it out.

The Support staff is fantastic. There is always someone available to answer any questions I have. The site is very user friendly and has so much to offer. It is a great resource for our staff, Subcontractors and customers.

All of the features can seem overwhelming. It is difficult to know the full potential of BuilderTrend. But there are great training resources available if you have the time to look into it.

Do it! It will maximize your construction or remodel business and set you apart from your competitors. Our clients love the Calendar feature and it is a great tool for communication between staff members as well with our customers.

Vendor is responsive. Product has features which are an improvement overall to our earlier system. Fairly easy to use.

CRM is non-existent and the reporting is nil. Lead scheduling doesn't transmit to Outlook calendar. Selections are a bit cumbersome.

Recommendations

If you are after a stronger sales tool with excellent project management capabilities this is one of the best.

Real time decisions / communications kept in one location creates less paperwork, communications.

Lead tracking / reminders is a strong point.

Estimating software needs development. Not functional for our purposes at this time.

Change Orders need categories for cost (sub / material / labor) and ability to add multiples to one change order (ie. Build a niche in shower has Tile Sub costs, Framing labor costs and Framing Material costs). Need to have framing and tile categories both.

Down for maintenance...and then there is an issue with that getting caught in cache per HelpLine (kept experiencing "down for maintenance" repeatedly. Was directed by Customer Service / Helpline to "Advanced Settings" in Chrome browser to clear browsing data. This is a software issue that needs to get figured out. Non-intuitive and clients will not understand that if they encounter that issue. I have never had to clear that setting before....

Some things could be redesigned for better functionality / GUI / Intuitive responses. A few examples:

Selections = multiple step process is non-intuitive for entry (fields are rather short for description) + clients seem unclear on approval for it.

Want to send a Document Notification after uploading to one internal User and client? You cannot. You click notify and you send to all people who have viewing permissions (clutters inboxes and annoys others).

I would like to have embedded images in my bid requests and Change Orders and Selections rather than separate jpg attachments.

Recommendations

Know the product is still really being developed.
It has so much potential to be great, but it is a good starting point and has some very strong areas.

I am still learning some of the ways this product could help communicate / share data.

There is so much, it is really complicated to try to implement it when you are going from no software to a web based system.

Take the time to make an implementation plan and have 2-3 people really learn it before asking the staff to dive in.

All the different types and levels of information. I really like the time clock. With this type of job it's great for tracking time spent on each job. I must say though, I use daily logs throughout the day.

Nothing really. I've only been using it for a couple of months. I've had one issue with the new upgrade in daily logs, made contact with Eric Scherer, and he stayed on top of the situation until there was an answer. He kept me informed every step of the way!! Awesome customer service!!

I would highly recommend that who ever implements this program must enforce that everyone uses the program to get the most functionality, with the highest success.

Recommendations

If they can add a feature to click and drag attached files without having to click attach a file. Also, for the Timesheet if it can show the Project name on the list--that would be helpful.

all info in one program, very easy to access all my info at any time.
in the field it's very handy to access documents and prints... review schedules and trade quotes, all trade info to any photos pertaining to the job.
very very handy and not having to lug around job binders is such a blessing!!

it takes a bit to grasp but once youre on board, it's very easy. We are slowly moving entirely over to this system.. from scheduling to all documentation to email communications to quick books for accounting. everyone on board with it means its fairly streamlined and errors occur less often.

All good on our end. The ladies asked if they can change the icon colors to pink,ours are blue. Go figure.

Recommendations

Ask the people in the offices and in the field using their mobile devices. As long as i have a decent cell signal i can do it all remotely from anywhere. I have our subtrades download the app on the job. Walk them thru a few steps bam, smiles! Everything stays documented in the files you email in& out thru, with annotation on your pictures to save you thousands of hard earned cash.
