I like its capability to contact vendors so easily and remotely. We also love the ease of the budgeting software. The best things about the software are its ease of use and its ability to keep track of invoices and payments. These help everyone know what has been paid and what is outstanding in a user-friendly way. The product allows us to communicate as a team and see what everyone is doing without having to be in the same place or have constant meetings. It's great software that we would recommend to anyone starting a production home building company!

It's not able to create a workflow or signing capability for documents and contracts. If this software had the ability to have a sales interaction it would be perfect!

Use this for building, but make sure you have a software for signing contracts remotely.

Good Value and sales tool

Ease-of-use

It offers pretty simple usage for the basic elements. It gets harder the more you want to do with it.

Functionality

It could be more of a scheduling tool. This side is hard to change and navigate.

Product Quality

It is pretty easy to use and does not seem to have many times when there are issues that have the program shut down.

Customer Support

American based is the best. The only downside is the hours could be expanded.

I like the integration with all the pieces there. We needed something with production and sales fully integrated, as well as having the customer and subcontractors able to communicate easily with us. It is the perfect fit! BT works for us and we love this application. We also love the mobile app as well. We use iPads in the field, and this works beautifully to keep everyone up to date and active.

I would like to see a contract/estimating module that creates the actual contract with boilerplate text we provide. I would also like a report editor that allows us to create reports from queries in leads and jobs. This feature would allow us to create forms that we can send to customers or subcontractors regarding project specifics.

Recommendations

Do your homework and figure out what features you are specifically wanting in a CRM. I looked at our entire operations (production, sales, and staff needs) and then compared features on five different CRMs. I reviewed screenshots and videos and talked with CRM sales representatives to let them know exactly what we were looking for. Once I narrowed it down to two, I then started looking at cost and what was included (how many users were allowed, how many projects are allowed, etc.).

Service Beyond the Expected!

Ease-of-use

My rating is a 10 and the reason being is that most of us have never used a construction management software package. We are not computer experts and most of us are mature employees. We did not grow up with a computer at birth. So with the help of online training, tutorials and the ability to speak with a customer service person is is easy for us.

Functionality

A 10 without a doubt. We are a small residential builder and we are delighted with everything this software offers us. It meets or exceeds our needs. In fact with each new build, we be come stronger BuiilderTrend users. We know we still have much to learn, but we have made great progress in less than a years time.

Product Quality

Again, a 10. We have never had a problem. We can easily organize, file and retrieve our documents. The quality is excellent.

Customer Support

The service is beyond expectation. Their back office is one of the best we have ever dealt with. Just to fill you in we are not your typical builder where everyone works from the same office. Our President and CFO works out of Wilmington N.C. along with our Construction Manager. Our Sales Persons who manages all of the leads that come via BuilderTrend works our of her home office in Richmond, Indiana and she also works closely with the Purchasers and oversee and manages the selections tab and few other pieces of BT. I work out of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and implemented BT and and upload a great deal of the data and photos. Our staff can work from anywhere around the world and our Purchasers can live anywhere and follow the build along via BT. The customer support has never failed us.

Reliability - You can depend on it be up and running 24/7. We sleep well at night knowing all of our information is continually stored in the cloud.

Customer Care - You get to speak to real person who takes the time to listen and help assist us with every question or personal training we may need. There is not voicemail hell! They answer their phones. Rarely do we need to leave a message. If a message is left, we get a return call.

Trust - We value the level of confidentiality and trust that all our information and is respected by all employees of BuilderTrend.

Honestly, our experience has always been good. BuilderTrend was recommended to us by another builder and we were told that we would not be disappointed. We are extremely pleased with the product and the vendor. The personal recommendation was important to us. The only suggestion I would have is that they extend the number of spaces for titles to file folders.

Recommendations

I would suggest that they take the initial one on one telephone training. If you have never worked with a construction management software package, the amount of information can be overwhelming. Most of all our eyes were immediately opened to the added value this product brings to our company. It cover every aspect of the managing the building business. We consider BT as one of our most valued Trades Partners!

Everything is specific. The builder can define what they want the subs/owners to see, which is great.

There are areas that are not as easy to navigate, instead of having places where you could have a button for "Next", you have to save, X out, and then click on the following item (such as entering options, POs). Some areas are redundant; you have to enter the same info in several areas instead of them just autofilling.

Pay attention what your users are saying in the forums, lots of great ideas to improve on there. Your users are the ones that will help perfect the system to work for all of our needs.

It's pretty easy to use a few things that could be improved upon, but all in all, it's pretty good.

I have a different type of business, so not all of the functions relate to my business. That said, it has worked well for my purposes for a small
business owner who has very few options. It has a lot if flexibility, and you can't beat the cost!

The only reason I don't give the product a ten is because I think it could be expanded in certain areas as mentioned above.

The quality is good. I think it would be cool to add shortcuts (T for create new task), if they don't already have that.

Support is great. Our rep has followed up with me nearly every week. And the call center is really there to help with anything.

There are multiple ways to manage projects, it's user-friendly, and they have excellent customer service. I also like being able to access all of the information on the cloud from anywhere and how well you can protect information from certain parties.

I never had a problem with this product. The system itself is of a very good quality.

They're always ready to answer any questions. They provide great customer support.

There are a few features that are not available at this time that would facilitate viewing documents in the field and from the field. But I have been informed that some of them might be in the pipe line.

I would say try it. You will like the flexibility, and the team of knowledgeable support members is like no other. If you have OCD like I do when it comes to reports and data and budgets, this system is completely customizable to your individual needs.

There is only a very small learning curve if you are comfortable on computers. I am no tech genius, but I can figure it out.

It needs better budgeting (estimating) functions. The calendar could be easier to use in gannt view.

The quality is very high, and the product is well-thought-out. BuilderTrend feels like a well-run company considering the amount of support offered.

Ou rep has been really patient and helpful. After just a few meetings, I have a great understanding of the product.

The mobile app is so easy to use. It takes about one minute to record a daily log from your phone. My Tech Rep is awesome and so helpful! It's going to be very helpful and professional to have my clients involved in the software and seeing what's going on, even from a remote location.

The budget (estimating) and calendar (schedule) modules are slightly lacking. I heard that soon there will be updated budget software that will allow me to build an estimate that could be shown to the client, that will be nice. Also, the calendar is pretty good but could be easier. I've used many different schedule softwares but find that SmartSheet is the best/easiest out there. Check it out and you will see what I mean. I need to be able to modify the schedule in gannt view without opening an activity and edit more like a spreadsheet. It's much faster for those who know how to run a schedule.

Recommendations

Give it a try. It's low risk considering that there is no contract.

There are a lot of features that take a little bit to remember, but actually using them is very common sense for the most part.

It covers everything from start to finish with the build. We might like to use the client login more if it had a few more options and a better layout.

It's a quality product. I can tell that thought went in to making it fit best with their target market.

Fantastic. Highlight of their business. You get a dedicated team member to completely train you on the product.

Honestly, their service is top notch. They had a dedicated team member available to answer my questions at any time. That same team member also spent two hours walking me through every single feature of BuilderTrend, step by step.

I can't think of anything that is hugely important. The interface that clients can log in to see their home progress is pretty minimal and not extremely user-friendly. I say this is not hugely important because we really don't use it much anyway. That said maybe we would if they added more features and a more attractive layout for the customer.

Ask for a trial and try several out. BuulderTrend is what worked best for us.

We have trained a few of our staff, and we find the daily logs most useful, and using this example, it becomes easy to use after a few days of use.

We will require additional reports, but the advantage of keeping project documents for all to view daily logs, sending mails to relevant team members, and the website branding all greatly enhanced our value and efficiency.

Product Quality

It's good. And a very good value for money. The quality of options and access with passwords to users and their ability to view is brilliant.
