Hatchbuck is an all-in-one sales and marketing solution designed for small to midsize businesses. It offers combined sales automation, marketing automation and email marketing features. Hatchbuck is a good fit for a wide range of businesses, including teams in advertising, consulting, hospitality, real estate and mpre.

Hatchbuck includes features to help users more effectively maintain and track both prospective and existing clients. Contacts cam be imported from Outlook, Excel, and LinkedIn, while leads can be captured from the company website, blog or social media sites with a straightforward “drag and drop” form builder.

Each contact has a full activity history to track communication, ensuring that salespeople are all on the same page and keeping them up to date with upcoming tasks. Tags can be added to contacts to add an additional level of organization to your database.

Tying in with sales automation is Hatchbucks’ marketing automation module, which features email marketing. A library with 450 email templates can be used as-is or assembled using the software's template builder. Users can set up automatic emails to specific groups of contacts and track the progress of campaigns.

Hatchbuck offers a variety of free resources to help sales and marketing teams make the most of the software, including a variety of videos, templates, a blog, and one-on-one training. This system runs on both Mac and PCs, and can be accessed via any device with Internet connectivity, including iPads.

I like how Hatchback provides functionality for creating and managing email templates. It helps to manage the email marketing with our leads. But This app lacks a number of features to manage the prospects and the sales pipelines.

Advice to Others

Create a wishlist of features, then go back and prioritize them and label them "must have" and "nice to have." For Hatchbuck's price point, you likely won't get everything you need, but everything you get will be a solid win. Consider not doing a full conversion of your existing database, and just bringing over A+ customers and prospects. Use the move to clean up your contacts and slowly add questionable contacts as you clean them up externally.

We moved from Hubspot to Hatchbuck to reduce our monthly CRM costs. We found that Hatchbuck did more than what we could do with our basic Hubspot version for a lot less cash. Right now we have triggered email activities for customers based on a customer's actions which we would have had to triple our Hubspot spend to get. All in all we're quite happy with the tools.

I wish there were an app or a responsive website to access the data. It makes the tool cumbersome to release to outside sales folks who aren't at their desks all day.

Recommendations

I think it is always best to do a demo of the system. Test several systems to determine the features you really need and what are nice-to-have items. Then review your lists of likes and needs after the demo.

Hatchbuck is an easy to use CRM that doesn't require a lot of time and energy to integrate into your already established database. The reports are easy to create and easy to understand.

At the time I began using hatchback it was still in the beta phase for many of the features and so the support offered wasn't as established as some of its competitors. I am sure they has since been improved.

Recommendations

Price isn't everything. You need to find the software that best fits your business needs. If you are looking for price alone you will likely not end up getting the features your business needs.

easy to self learn the basics. I self navigated to figure out how to use it. I was much easier than InfusionSoft which I had previously used.

In my experience using Hatchbuck, the one feature I like best is the immediate feedback I receive when someone opens an E-mail that I had sent. This helps me greatly to identify which prospects are most interested in my services and provides me with a good reason to follow-up with them and pursue discussions. This one feature makes me more productive and helps me manage my prospecting activities in a more efficient way.

I basically like everything about Hatchbuck. However, the front-end learning process takes a little while to become accustomed to how to navigate the program and reap the greatest benefits.

Recommendations

The ability to send out blast emails but keep the subject personalized. This is very handy when marketing and trying to get your information in front of thousands of potential clients. I also love the ability to track email statistics and keep an eye on what emails have the best responses and open rates.

Seems that a lot of the emails go into junk mail when coming from Hatchbuck. Even when hatchbuck emails me it goes into my junk folder. Additionally i would like to see a better way for potential clients to see who the email is coming from. Since i am on Hatchbucks server it will read on behalf of *(senders name) instead of from *(sender)

Explore your options- for us, Hatchbuck fit all of our needs. this might not be the same for you. Know what you want and then reach out so they can demo the software for you- the reps here are very friendly and great to work with- also very responsive!!

We looked at many other services, including Salesforce and Infusionsoft. Both of those offered a ton of features, 75% of which we didn't need, including the cost. We have found that Hatchbuck had BY FAR the best training, and the easiest interface. We have 1 dedicated employee running HB, and after 1 month, we have literally lit 20% of our ice cold leads on fire! Hatchbuck is like napalm for your sales leads. Gets them hot and keep it that way. We have learned that by staying in front of your customers, it at the least, allows you to stay in the game against your competitors. Prior to HB, we were MANUALLY SENDING EMAILS 1x1 via Gmail. We thought we had this under control until 75% of our cold leads had purchased from our competitor due to our lack of communication. If you are considering a way to build a relationship with every potential lead, seriously, don't hesitate!

The only thing we don't like is that they can't directly reply to the email form a campaign. Maybe there is a way, but we are only 1 month in.

Recommendations

Don't buy the expensive complicated software without trying HB! You will regret it. HB has a free trial and every one of our silly questions via telephone or email. This alone is the reason to give HB a shot.

They had great customer support. We had a direct number for a dedicated rep who was not overseas and always picked up the phone.

Compared to Salesforce, their sales funnel reporting was less easy to see holistically. It was hard to tell if we dumped 1,000 names in - how long they took to convert and what percentage converted.

Recommendations

If you're a small business on a budget, Hatchbuck is great. It works really well as a Marketing Automation platform and I would use it again. That said, if you can afford Salesforce, you will get a lot more features.

Hatchbuck makes everything easy - it's straightforward but powerful. One of the ways that it makes that balance is that it functions well from Day 1, no matter how much or little implementation you've done. Other CRMs sometimes feel useless unless you've spent months setting them up. Not so Hatchbuck!

The only way you won't like Hatchbuck is if 1) You're massively impatient about version releases or 2) You have a very particular use case in mind that by nature doesn't work well on Hatchbuck. I have no complaints about how we've used it in our business.

Recommendations

In general, look for a product that replaces as many other tools/processes as possible. Hatchbuck replaced so many other things in our business and we love it.

Unlike the ACT!, the last CRM I used, Hatchbuck enables me to automate my marketing/recruiting activities for the Weekend MBA Program. There are no more instances of prospects falling through the cracks as I am able to develop relevant messages and campaigns that I am able to disseminate to my stakeholders in timely fashion. There are no limits to the number of e-mails that can be sent and tracking the performance of those e-mails, i.e., opens, clicks, bounces, etc. is also helpful. Another feature I use quite a bit is the sales pipeline. I now know how many viable prospects I have in the system and at what precise stage they are at. What's also nice is that the investment in the program, unlike many other better know CRMs, is all inclusive.

Likes Least

Hatchbuck has been phenomenal in terms of service and response time. There are several areas, though, that can be bolstered and, I believe, are being worked on. The first is better e-mail integration. Rather than automatically be included in someone's record, you need to insert the Hatchbuck inbox address in the bcc field to capture the message in the system. They can probably do a better job with social media integration, calendar integration, as well as providing a more robust word processor.

Recommendations

Hatchbuck has enabled me to take a quantum leap forward with the Weekend MBA Program's recruiting and seems ideal for small businesses who are cost conscious. It may not fit the needs of larger businesses but then again it might. I would speak with a sales person at Hatchbuck, do the demo, and speak with some users. Some CRMs may seem less expensive but they are not when you add in all of the additional apps/features you need to purchase for the functionality to be comparable.

The best thing about Hatchbuck is that it is very easy to use. Many marketing automation platforms are very complex and require a good amount of technical knowledge. But with Hatchbuck that is not an issue. The integration between the email platform and CRM is native making this very simple.

It is not the most comprehensive, so if you are looking for a very detailed platform then go with Marketo, Pardot or Eloqua. These are more robust, but are not for everyone.
The platform could probably have a little more flexibility with tagging options.

Recommendations

Definitely try it out to see if you like it.
Infusionsoft is the closest match, but Hatchbuck is much more affordable.
